Special Olympics Board Member UNMC Sarah Smith
Wyatt Interviews Special Olympics Nebraska's Board Member Sarah Smith. Sarah grew up in Omaha Nebraska. Sarah talks about her time in medical school at University of Nebraska Medical Center where she became a Health Professional in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Sarah talks about what its like treating people with disabilities that also have health conditions as well. Wyatt and Sarah talk about what the transition is like from being a kid to growing into adulthood and having to switch doctors. The challenges that come with that for patient and healthcare provider. Sarah talks about the obstacles she sees people with disabilities go through in the medical care system. From being able to get the right care that the patient needs for their medical conditions to just having the right training for the Dr's to treat people with disabilities Sarah talks about why she felt it was the right time for her to join the Special Olympics board. SONE is very excited to have her on the board and see the great impact she will have!
