Against The Norm
It’s all about creating a thrilling, adventurous and extraordinarily healthy life as we continue to age. Most importantly, it is about living life to the fullest—daring to go against the grain of average and ‘what is expected’. Instead, to bravely go against the norm to lead an incredibly exciting life.

Welcome to Against the Norm, a podcast for men who know there's more life left in them and aren't interested in coasting quietly to the sidelines. I'm Norman Calvo, your host. This podcast is for men who are ready to challenge excuses, reclaim their energy, and take their next chapter seriously without pretending they're 25 years old again. Now you might be wondering, who is this guy and why should I listen? Fair question. I'm not an Instagram fitness influencer, and I'm not here to sell you shortcuts. I'm someone who believes in doing hard, meaningful things, especially later in life. I've hiked half Dome in Yosemite with a 30-pound backpack on my back, run the New York City marathon, completed 11 half marathons, and just to keep things interesting, performed a one-man cabaret show in New York City. But this podcast isn't about my resume, it's about you. It's about men in their 60s, 70s, and beyond who want to feel strong, capable, and engaged again, not just marking time or shrinking their world year after year. Whether you're here because your doctor nudged you to move more, or because you're tired of feeling stiff, tired, or limited, you're in the right place. This podcast is your playbook. We'll talk honestly about fears, habits, and the stories we tell ourselves about aging, and we'll challenge the ones that no longer serve you. This isn't therapy, and it's not sugar coated either. It's real, practical, and grounded in experience. I'll also share additional stories and resources on my blog, and for those who want more structure and accountability, I offer one-on-one coaching to help you build a plan that actually fits your life. So stick around. Today is about shifting the focus away from what you used to be able to do and toward what you're still capable of. And trust me, it's more than what you think.
