Hello, and welcome to textual tension, a love hate relationship with romance novels.

Margie:

I'm your co host Rachel and I'm your co host Margie.

Rachel:

Every other week one of us reads a romance novel and summarizes it for our unsuspecting cost. Margie, you get to listen in this week. I know I'm so afraid. Are you surprised? I hope not. Because otherwise I would have needed a book read.

Margie:

It's like the first step. Everyone here is together.

Rachel:

What the fuck just happened y'all I am two sips into my first cup of coffee for the day and it's noon. So let's get this shit on. Yeah,

Margie:

let's get it started. And like

Unknown:

mine here.

Rachel:

Okay. So like I said, for a while, like Margie said, we're doing four episodes this week. Yes. And it was a bit of a struggle for me, because I've been working 12 to 14 hour days at work. Yeah Because bless me, right? Yeah. Um, and so all I wanted after that much work and Brian, I mean, think of it like solving calculus problems for 12 to 14 hours a day like, Yeah, I'm doing engineering, right. All I wanted was something slightly problematic that I could rage at. And I was kind of in the mood for a Modern Romance. So like, I don't know, I'm just

Margie:

shaking my head at you. Because like you say that like, every time I tried to find a bad book, and I couldn't find you ever again. I was

Unknown:

struggling through a book. Well, every other week.

Rachel:

Well, you hit the nail on the head. Because yes, because I know you. I know. Well, okay, here's what I did, though. I went to Goodreads and I looked up the top like most popular contemporary romance, okay, and this one was like, right under 50 Shades of Grey.

Unknown:

Okay. And

Margie:

I see I probably have seen it somewhere. Probably. Yeah, it has multiple covers. Oh,

Rachel:

so the one on Goodreads is not the one that I have on my library book. I will show you both. Okay, I'll go ahead and give it to me know if there's a way to zoom in on this picture. Zoom in Damn it. Oh, sorry.

Margie:

It's what you got. Oh, a lot. Oh, wow. Okay, I've definitely seen this cover before. Uh huh. It's called a lot like love. It's by Julie James. Um, so this cover uh, it's two people standing very closely together essentially, essentially a man in a suit a woman in a very dramatic purple dress. That her whole back is bare practically

Rachel:

I will say props that exact those two exact outfits occur in the book. Oh, really? Just random outfit. Like it was it's right. Oh, I know. Which considering I just sent Margie last night a picture of two completely different authored with the same photoshoot pictures.

Unknown:

Yeah, yeah,

Margie:

I actually see that a lot. Yeah, there have been like several books where are like there's this one book that keeps popping up on my Kindle. That's called Dark Stranger. And I definitely see that book that dude, at least one other might

Rachel:

choose to believe that any book that has the same people on the front happen in the same universe and it can in together. You cannot convince me

Margie:

otherwise. All right, well, okay, so um, let's see, I gotta read this a smart, sexy read. Oh, a smart, sexy, read Malini singe

Rachel:

our girl. Hey, I didn't even notice that. Yeah,

Margie:

we love knowing that she likes her stuff when I post stuff about her on Twitter. So, uh, so where's the second cover? I'll show that to you after you read prescription. Gotcha. All right.

Rachel:

Sorry. Go for them. The FBI

Margie:

wants her cooperation. As the daughter of a billionaire eat the rich and the owner of the city's top wide storage race of the rich. Jordan Rhodes is invited to the most exclusive parties in Chicago, but there's only one party the FBI wants to crash. The charity fundraiser of a famous restaurant tour, who also happens to launder money for the mob and exchange for her brothers released from prison. Jordan is going to be there with the date supplied by the Bureau. Ooh hmm, I called just once her as the top undercover agent in Chicago Nick McCall has one rule never get personal. This quote unquote date with Jordan Rhodes is merely an assignment when they're both determined to pull off even if they can't be together for five minutes before the sarcasm and sparks begin to fly. My kind of relationship honestly. But when Nick's investigation is compromised, he and Jordan have no choice but to pretend they're a couple. And what starts out as a simple assignment begins to feel a whole lot. Oh, Ginza feel a lot like something more? Hey, Oh, okay. You love these FBI agent kind of thing. Oh, here's

Rachel:

what I was gonna say. I I didn't intend to read another FBI when going into. But I saw the description. I saw that cover and I was like, okay, yeah, this could be fun. In a bad way. And God dammit it was good. So if you were one of the several people that reached out to me after the last book with a semi similar plot, the one we're like with was named something Buchanan or whatever, where he was like, pretending to be the chick. Wave or whatever. Yeah, yeah, that was it. If you reached out to me after that, and was like, god dammit, I wish I didn't listen to your episode because it sounded like a really good book. And I wanted to go read it. Stop the episode. Now. We'll wait go read the book and come back. Okay, cool. Because it's, it's kind of like that one where it's pretty darn good. And it's along the same vein, right. So let me show you the other. Yes, please. Looks vastly preferred the cover that you just saw. Okay? It's just better honestly. Open in library that is. Oh,

Margie:

I hate that. I hate that so much. Try that real quick. Okay, so it's um, um, so it's it says Again a lot like love. She's standing in front of a vineyard with these high heeled shoes on and a very, very, very pink dress.

Rachel:

She has only a pair of legs.

Margie:

She's only a pair of legs. That's all she knows. That's all there's no torso. Nobody. We have to assume that's what this woman is. She's only a pair of

Rachel:

like both of them to give away the twist right on the cover. Um,

Margie:

this one really? says nothing about FBI or drama or like anything like that. So yeah, I hate that. I hate it.

Rachel:

I hate it. Okay. Yeah, it was good. I saw that. I'm like, does a bit

Margie:

of a wait. A vineyard does come into play, doesn't it? Okay,

Rachel:

here it does come in. Okay. All right. So let's look triggers first. Yes. Um I don't think there are any.

Margie:

Yeah, you do that we could actually trust you. When I do that. It's like, oh, wait, we find six chapters. The first chapter.

Rachel:

All right, let's get into our characters are ready. There's a little bit gun violence. Oh, just remember, just a little bit. Okay. Just a tip. Just tiny bit. I'm Jordan Rhodes is our main chick. I am going to cut over here to her description in the book. Um, because it's easier to just read it. Alright. So Jordan is the daughter of a billionaire. Okay. But she's not like the other rich girls. Oh, of course. Namely, in that her father created a has like a huge. He created a computer antivirus software, essentially, and has made billions off of it. But unlike McAfee, he's not a creepy dude. And has two kids, but insists that his kids figure their shit out on their own. So they do not have a single dollar of his money. Hmm, they have a trust that they'll inherit eventually, okay, but they had to go to college, pay their way get loans, do whatever. So that's why she's not hashtag like other rich girls. But I mean, like, honestly, if you're a parent that just randomly comes into a billion plus dollars and has kids like that's a solid way to do it. I feel like

Margie:

Yeah, yeah, it would be it's hard to raise good people when you have a lot of money. Money. Yeah.

Rachel:

She mentioned she's like, I don't see any of his money. He's kind of free with his gifts. Sometimes. Like she drives a Maserati because they're dead. Okay, or have a car. Yeah, but she doesn't like have all the money that she has. And she's pretty darn well off. The money that she has. She's made herself. Okay. Yeah. So what she looks like Yes, pretty much exactly like the CO the first cover that you saw. So like, She had blonde hair. Caribbean blue eyes. Okay, Caribbean Blue. Just like you're likely Oh, yeah. Okay. Um, let's see. long blonde hair smells figure and Caribbean Blue. Belt smelled spelt?

Margie:

Is that up type of fabric?

Rachel:

No, sounds like it. It's spelt. It's like like tight and toned.

Margie:

oh nine else smells

Rachel:

smells. I don't actually know what the like the etymology of that word is but it's a fun word spelt now let's get into Nick McCall. Okay, so his undercover name for this is Nick Stanton. Okay. We will just refer to him as Nick Yeah, it's fine. So so he's an FBI agent. He's just coming back from being undercover for like six months okay. And he he has like you know, tall really buff naturally. Dark hair a little bit of five o'clock shadow got a little bit of a dangerous bad boy like I Yeah, and we're gonna play a game. Oh, guess that I gemstone.

Unknown:

Oh my god. Emerald

Rachel:

shit. You got anyone

Unknown:

so proud of myself.

Rachel:

I don't even give you a color.

Margie:

No. Oh, I just could read your mind Rachel. Because I'm a Libra

Rachel:

Margie gave me pencils for my birthday that are Aquarius pencils and one of them is a selfie pencil which is to say it says woke as fuck but backwards so you can read it in a camera. You I will post pictures you

Margie:

love it. You

Rachel:

do. Okay, so I'll go and read his description to this man was good looking in a rugged, masculine way. There was something a bit rougher about him. Except for his eyes green as emeralds. They stood out brilliantly against his dark hair and five o'clock shadow was he was intently. Yeah, so Oh,

Margie:

I don't that thing about what there's like a lot of like lines of romance. I was like, come up a lot watching someone intently. I feel like comes up a lot. Yeah, I have definitely read it before.

Rachel:

I'm not opposed to it. It's not creepy, right? When someone's staring at you in like a like, Oh, baby kind of way. I'm fine with it.

Margie:

That's true. Yeah, I don't think that I like I don't not like it. It's just that I hear it a lot. That's fair, you know. And I think if you hear it a lot, it kind of loses its meaning a little bit

Rachel:

be fair, this isn't in a Oh, baby kind of way. It's in a she's attractive, but it's definitely a spoiled brat kind of way. makes assumptions. Let's get into it. So someone, as I said, Nick is just coming back from a long term undercover mission. And he is like, he and one of his friends on the force are like the best of the best in Chicago like, Okay, very good at what they do. And they have like an, they have like a Legolas and Gimli ask, arrest record off going.

Margie:

Somewhere, um, or Santiago and, and Jake Peralta.

Rachel:

Yeah. Yep. So it's very much a like, well, I have this many Well, I have this many like, back and forth, which is kind of fun. And he is he just got off and he's planning on and he successfully like it was a successful mission. But he's planning on heading back to Brooklyn, to go back to his parents house for him his mom's 60th birthday, which surprise but she totally knows about it, because they're she's Italian. He has a very Italian family. It's really fun. Um, so he is getting ready to leave and his boss calls him into the office and is like, hey, oh, no. And he said, I was like, all right out with it. Yeah, cuz he like, he just knows his boss works together forever. And his boss basically tells him he's like, Look, I need you to do me a favor. It's not gonna take long, you'll still be able to go back to Brooklyn. Basically, this other guy is kind of a newbie. He has never He want is going to be doing undercover operations. But he's never done one before. So this is his first he's been doing research on it for months, all the months that he that he that Nick was in undercover. And it's on this this wine restaurant tour guy. I refer to my notes from now on as wine guy. Why guys? didn't feel like going back to his name in the book. Yeah. Um, who has been using his super swanky restaurant to help launder money for the mob. Cool. Yeah. Um, and so they need to get into this guy's office where he has his his meetings with this mob boss guy, and Bhagat so they can start trying to get information on him.

Margie:

That's so seems like a big job for a newbie than undercover work.

Rachel:

Well, so basically, what he brought Nick in was kind of as a consultant, essentially. So he brings Nick in, and he's like, Hey, we're gonna have the newbie. Carlos. Wow. Oh, my gosh, Margie has a Carlos in her lap.

Margie:

I know. But I'm not I don't have a blanket. So I'm very surprised. And now he's gonna jump. There you go. Okay. He's just

Rachel:

checking you out. Yeah. But he wants the newbie to run his plan. And everything past Nick and Nick is going to be there when it happens for support to help him through it for his first mission. Right. Okay. Because like, I feel like all undercover missions are kind of high stakes. Yeah, that's true. That's true. Some of the other ones in this book that they reference, like the guy who's undercover in the maximum security prison. This is probably one of the easier ones because Okay, one night,

Margie:

okay. Yeah.

Rachel:

So the plan is to the one guy has a massive security system in his personal office beneath the restaurant, because he has a lot of very expensive wines, like hundreds of 1000s of dollars worth of wines. Sure, because he likes wine because rich people because

Margie:

it's where it's where they're having all those those wine cellar meetings that Elizabeth Warren keeps talking about.

Rachel:

I was thinking Eyes Wide Shut scenario. Ah. So the only time that anyone would really be able to have access to this area because of the security systems are is once a year he holds this huge swanky dinner wine themed party, because he fucking loves wine.

Margie:

Does everybody dressed up as a different grape? She does. A wine themed party

Rachel:

dresses up as their favorite kind of purple dress. You know? No. Sounds like a stripper. When you say it that way. It's my stripper name because it's my favorite wine. Okay, anyway,

Unknown:

I'm Cabernet.

Rachel:

Hey, that also sounds like a stripper name. Oh my god. You know Graecia they all do

Margie:

we don't know why Peter GreenShield or are twins. They're fraternal.

Rachel:

Oh, absolutely. And then there's Zinfandel Zinni for short.

Margie:

What about ball back?

Rachel:

She's Butch.

Unknown:

Yeah, yes. All right.

Margie:

Just go wine. Damn it.

Rachel:

I mean, back to it. It's it is indeed. Okay. So their way into this swanky party because it is very exclusive in invite only with a $5,000. Ahead cover is they've they've identified Jordan Rhodes is Jordan Rhodes, daughter of a billionaire. So her brother was recently sent to prison. Oh, and we'll go into why later. Oh, good. And it is hysterical.

Margie:

Was he just stupid? Yes. Ah, yes,

Rachel:

he was so stupid. Um, and so they're like, We think we can convince her to take us. One, like, take NewBee as her right. In exchange for a reduced sentence for her brother versus like actually getting them out. Okay, right. And I guess I should also mention, the reason this is the only time they can get in there is because he holds very specific wine tastings in his private wine cellar at this event. Okay, so it's like their next raise office. Okay, so Okay. Yeah. So that's why they can get into it. So that is the mission. Nick is like, Okay, I don't like bringing civilians into the right. This is not good. But it is our only option. So I'll be there to support he'll be in the van, you know, with the little monitoring everything and talking people through stuff as needed. And they have an FBI agent that is currently working at his bar. Okay, guys, bar, okay. Undercover. So he's like, I don't love the plan, but it's the best we can do. So Sure. Sounds good. Okay. Um, so scene two. Okay. Nick, a newbie. That's what you're just gonna call I'm gonna call him. It's fine. Again. I didn't feel like he doesn't come up that much. Yeah. Um, so they go to Jordan. Jordan owns a wine store. Jordan loves wine. Okay, so she has built her own little fortune out of this wine store that she has built from the ground up. Very cool. So yeah, so she has a super bougie wine place. And the thing that I as a lover of wine, appreciate is she like, sells, you know, a couple $100 bottles. But she also features a lot of like, $10 bottles, right, like cheap wine. And she's like, this is really good wine. And I want everyone to be able to have good wine. Right? And it's like a taste. It's kind of like awakenings, but only the the wine side of it. Okay. Yeah, that's like a local coffee wine bar in our area. One Cincinnati. Yeah. So it's like, like, you can sit down and have a glass of wine. You can buy bottles like,

Margie:

you can sit there buy a bottle of wine and just drinking. I would.

Rachel:

I would be a patron of the store. Yeah, basically. So she is closing up at the end of the day. She's closing up early, because there's a huge snowstorm. Okay. And Nick and newbie show up at her wine store. And they get her to come with him to the FBI headquarters, so they can talk her through it, which I appreciate that they just spew out classified information in front of everyone because I don't think that's how that works. Yeah, all their books do it so far. So they run it through the plan. And I should also mention at this point, her Nick both kind of have an immediate response to each other. They're cute. I hate them.

Margie:

Oh my god, it's Pride Prejudice.

Rachel:

Well, it's because he Yeah, absolutely. Because she thinks he's kind of like an arrogant snarky asshole that makes assumptions about her. Right? And he makes assumptions about

Unknown:

right. There you go, right. Yeah. He's like,

Rachel:

God, fucking spoiled brat billionaire daughter like that. Okay. Which, to be fair, there's a chance I would have make those assumptions too. And I know I shouldn't. And it's not great. Yeah, you're meeting a billionaires daughter. Who owns a Bougie wine store.

Unknown:

Yeah. Yeah,

Rachel:

I think it's understandable. Assumptions. Okay, so they're honestly the plan. At first she's like, hell no. Bullshit. I'm not going with you anywhere. No, this is dumb. I don't trust FBI. People. You put my brother in jail. Yeah, she's like, they're like, okay, but like, what if we said we could get your brother out of jail and she's like, fine with you. So she is on board but only if they swear to like, yeah, because get her brother out. Right and like all this stuff. She does not like Nick. My notes say thinks he's hot but an asshole. He thinks she's hot but assumes she's stuck up rich. Right. So yeah, pretty much what I went through. So she is on board with the plan. And I tell her specifically you can tell no one right. Which is tough for her. Because every she doesn't she leaves me about it. Well, the problem is every Wednesday every Wednesday since he was in jail, she goes and visits her brother. Okay. Oh and her. Her and her brother are very close. Oh, So like, he knows something's out, but she is able to kind of like,

Margie:

right? Yeah, it's kind of convenient that he's in jail because she's she could just be like, Okay, I gotta go.

Rachel:

So this is where I mentioned that I'm trying to, I wrote my notes, but I've kind of hit some of my notes before I got to this point. Just worked that way. So this is where I mentioned that her dad is a billionaire, but kids have to make their own way. Right. Okay, so apparently her brother looks like Sawyer from last.

Margie:

I have no idea who that looks like. Oh, I

Rachel:

had to pull up a picture because I've never seen last either by not a bad looking dude. But he gets a lot of shit for that. And for being the son of rich dude. Okay, so he's actually been getting like, beat up a lot in jail.

Unknown:

Oh,

Rachel:

so that I'm showing. Sawyer? Yeah, a lot of people are in this book, and I would be

Margie:

not mad. I wonder if he has his own romance novel?

Rachel:

I bet he does. Because this is a series. Yeah, this is the second one I think. Okay, because in the book, I was like, Oh, this one's already happened. Like Nick's like, buddy partner who's also like the other best one. Yeah, he is. has a relation. Okay, this one? Yeah. Um, so I'm going to tell you now about what her brother did to get put in jail. Because it's fucking funny. Shit. So, her brother is the vice president of her dad's company. Okay, he is really good with computers. Okay. Um, and he did he hacked. He hacked in a real unbelievable way

Unknown:

really

Rachel:

drunk. Oh, my God. What happened was because he looks like Sawyer from last, he gets a lot of chicks who like, you know, want to date him? Right? Like, for us also his money until they find out that he doesn't have any money. So he got a starlet who was like a Victoria's Secret model style chick, who they were dating for a while. Okay. And then she ended up calling him and being like, hey, I don't we're not together anymore. This is dumb. And like, like, cut it off. Well, she was in California for like a thing. And he was not there. Oh, wow. And so he's getting drunk in somewhere in Mexico. And then finds out. Like a couple hours later, she posts a picture of her give her a video of her essentially, like going down on some minor celebrity on Twitter. So he drunk goes on and like, does a denial of service attack on Twitter, takes down Twitter, more drunk. And then he calls his sister in the morning and like wakes up and he's like, I fucked up. Fix it. And so he hacks back into Twitter and fixes it. But that time he was really hungover. So he made a mistake. Twitter for like today.

Margie:

I mean, like he did he say we probably saved the world for those two days because Twitter's hellscape like,

Rachel:

yeah, so he and it the problem was it It happened right after like some other person had gotten, like, let off for doing something similar. And so the Attorney General was like, hey, we need to you know, spoiled rich kid thinks he can do this. And so they put him in jail.

Margie:

Okay, yeah, they're okay. But I just

Rachel:

the idea of someone drunkenly doing a denial of service attack on Twitter and taking it down for two days. And because he forgot about it because he was drunk. It's fucking hilarious to me. I was laughing like my ass off and I was reading.

Unknown:

Oh my god,

Rachel:

she explains it a super snarky. She's like the fucking idiot. It's pretty good. So I love her brother. So

Margie:

how much jail time did he get?

Rachel:

He only got like a year. Okay. It really wasn't bad. Okay, but he is good. He's kind of like skinny and like, like, lengthy. Yeah, he's he's fit but he's like, you know, tall and skinny. So he came getting like, beat up a lot. Yeah, that's what she's worried about. Right in jail. Yeah. And also, like, when he went into it into the trials, and and he's like, Yeah, I did it guilty. Yeah. 100% I'm sorry. I was dumb. I was stupid. Like, good. Like he didn't. Yeah, and I think it was it was obvious. He's like, Yeah, I'm a fucking idiot. Yeah, yeah. It's like, Yeah, you're a fucking idiot.

Margie:

I made a mistake. Right?

Rachel:

So he owned up to it and everything. Um, but she's like, extra worried now because he has like bruises and stuff and she's really worried. Yeah. So she's like, doubling down like, yes. Okay, I have to do this. I gotta get him out and she can't tell them about it. Because also if she told him about it, he freaked out because Right. He's a brother. Right? So cut star cut. So the morning of the party. Okay. Nik gets a call at like 5am. Okay. And Nick had told Jordan previously that if you hear from me on the day of this party, then something has gone very wrong. So don't worry, you don't have to talk to me ever again. Okay, because they didn't like each other, right? I think it's a call from newbie. Oh, no. Who is currently hanging over a toilet dying? Oh, no. There's like, throughout this entire book, there's a stomach flu going around and different people gets and gets it. Okay, so he's like, dying. He's like, Oh, I need you to come to my house. So Nick goes over to his house. And then Jordan shows up because he newbie also called Jordan. Yeah. And Jordan looks at him as and that Nick and goes. You said that if I saw you today something. What's happening? What happened? Yeah. So Nick's like, Okay, well, I'm your date. Ma'am, to switch places,

Margie:

okay. Okay.

Rachel:

calls in a favor to is one FBI buddy to be his partner for this whole thing. And Nick has to be the one and they have to like change the story because Newby had like, done research on wine. And like, we would be able to kind of hobnob with these wines now. Right? Nick? Cannot because he doesn't know jack about wine. Okay, here's, I know nothing about wine. I met you because I wanted to learn about or buy a bottle of wine for a coworker and we hit it off and you're gonna teach me about wine and like, oh, shit, like they that actually works. Yeah, they adjust the story. They make it work. Um, and he like kind of goes into panic mode because like, I need Okay, I need a suit. I need a haircut. Right? And she's like, I got you boo. She calls up on her friends who like owns a suit shop. There you go. Nick gets to go and have his Sailor Moon. Tuxedo but you know, probably a nicely tailored suit, which honestly makes more sense for Chrome. So they show up at the party. Both Jordan Nick have an oshit moment about how attractive the other person lunch. Oh, she's wearing that purple dress. I only dropped out back I Yeah. And he like stops and like, totally like blank face. She's like that is the quietest that you've ever been. I take it you like the dress is like five busted. And she like she's kind of messing with him. Just for funsies because he's like, I trust you have somewhere to put this microphone. And she's like, I don't really know what to do. And I'm not wearing a bra. I just have band aids on my nipples. Yeah, girl.

Unknown:

Yes. She's

Rachel:

whole air. Yeah,

Margie:

she's really and also I've done that too. Oh, yeah. Well, he

Rachel:

just deer in headlights. He's like, Oh, God. And she's like not I'm kidding. It's fine. I go. Yes. And turns around, like, fix it.

Margie:

I know. I have actually totally done that before. So same.

Rachel:

Yeah, sometimes you gotta Yeah. Yeah, fine. It's fine. But they're like, she's messing with him. And he doesn't entirely know how to take it. He's not mad about it. But he's like, I've never like, usually women like this are not my type. What's happening? Okay, this could be the start. So they actually have like, a real their chemistry is really fun. Okay, so Oh, yeah. And I also mentioned this in my notes, Nick being uncomfortable as cute as shit. Oh, like, it gets me going, man, just like the like, total dark and broody. But everyone's just been really uncomfortable. Because like, Oh, God, oh, god, she's

Margie:

ready. She's ready. It's like, it's like he's returning to sixth grade state of see what seeing pretty girl for the first

Rachel:

row and I love that so much. Oh, I have a thing to say about that later. Okay. So they go to the party. They get there and things are going pretty well. They're like his cover story is working gray.

Margie:

Denim, so it doesn't know anything about wine. Exactly. He's a he's a dumbass about wine. Right?

Rachel:

Um, until they find out. Oh, no, that one guy. Yeah. has a thing for Jordan. How old is one guy about the same age as Jordan?

Margie:

Oh, no, I thought he was super old. Okay, not okay.

Rachel:

Um, yeah. So he has a thing for Jordan. And they figure this out because they're looking at the wine list. And there's like a bunch of that she had recommended specifically the previous year. Like the wine list is like a love letter to her. Oh, he's been sitting on this for a while. And Nick's like, Excuse me? Let's go chat in the corner for a second. What now? This complicates things. She's like, I had no idea. She's like thinking back to previous years like Well, there was this one weird interaction where he offered to take me to Napa Valley but I played it off as a business thing. Oh shit, which I'm oblivious to shit like that. So I would have done the same probably

Margie:

Yeah, I don't know. I don't know what I would do.

Rachel:

I am oblivious to flirting because I just am nice to people and sometimes that comes across as flirting and I don't mean it and so I'm oblivious to other

Margie:

people flirting with me this entire time. Right? Okay, good.

Rachel:

Oh, don't worry with you. I play it straight. Okay.

Unknown:

With you in a straight about it.

Rachel:

Margie if you can't tell that I'm flirting with you when I say hey, Margie. Want to go have sex? Then? I don't know what to tell you. I can't spell it out more.

Unknown:

Oh, wow. I got it it was my hip

Rachel:

stop Okay,

Margie:

Zack isn't here to stop us.

Rachel:

You're right Carlos.

Margie:

What is it triggers

Rachel:

my tire sugar dusting a sexual assault between Margie so they find out that one guy. I should really look at this name. No,

Margie:

I like wine guy. Okay.

Unknown:

Wait, you should come up with a with a with a with a wine name for him. Wine Is he is he Tempranillo? No.

Rachel:

Sure us. Like Shiraz.

Margie:

Sure us because it sounds like money to like yeah, you could name so much for that bitch got money. One guy is

Rachel:

now sure I'm sure us I'm sorry. Perfect. Okay, so he surprise has a thing. And He is not pleased that Jordan brought a date. He is. And so there's a little bit of like a like, like jealousy thing going on between him and Nick where Nick's just like, I'm just here because I have to be but he's pretending not you know, right. Be like, yeah. Hey, get your get your head out of your ass man. Like, yeah, he's such an asshole. I love him. Everything for guys that are assholes. Just look at my husband.

Margie:

Yeah, yeah, that's true. Um, it is known.

Rachel:

So they kind of have an oshit moment. And they, but they like, okay, it's should still be fine. Right? Should be just right. So it shouldn't make that much of a difference. No, it really doesn't. And, and so they're like, that complicates things, but it should be okay. After tonight. We don't have to do this anymore. It'll be fine. So they go down into the private wine cellars do a tasting on there because it gets knit close. And then the plan is that Jordan is going to ask Shiraz to walk away with her and discuss, like special fancy bougie wine that's going on sale that she found. Like so she's gonna try to distract him, right, it can do his thing. And Nick starts to get a little attracted to her when she starts talking about wine because she's really passionate about and is like, walking him through how to do an actual tasting and all the different things and like, he kind of has a moment of oh ha. Okay, all right. The gears are turning. So Jordan take one guy away Shiraz, sorry, truss, you can call me either one time you interchangeable to talk about this one specific one and Nick is able to go in and bug the office pretty easily. So he kind of sneaks in and you get done. All that effect. Yay. After this after the party on the way back so everything the rest of the party goes just fine. Yeah, good. I will say Shiraz does mention to Jordan that he has a thing for her. That's good and not in a great way Oh, that's good. Yeah, and kind of creepy way Oh,

Margie:

what did I say? Well, he's

Rachel:

like, like, I shouldn't have waited so long and Yeah, and like starting to like I you know, like he he is not you're so out of his league and like you know, trying to like come with me instead. Hey, baby, drop your other bow Don't worry home girl working in the bar. The FBI agent comes in and saves her Oh, she gets fired for it the next day but totally worth it girls support girls. Yeah.

Margie:

We got we got each other's backs.

Rachel:

And hell yeah. In our butts. Um, girl we got your butt and it's a great but Okay, that wasn't weird. It's known it is known all girls have great button. That's okay, but I love me a good but keeping that in Margy is subconsciously trying to get you all to think about butts is working. So on my back, he gets a call and he pretends he's like, Oh, hey, it's Richard about that one like, apartment deal or whatever. Because he his his cover story is he he's a realtor. Yeah, he owns apartments. Okay. Okay. So he gets a call from his buddy in the van saying hey, I have good news and bad news. Oh, Good news. Microphones are working. Oh no. Bad news. Oh no. Shiraz called in not a hit but called in some people to follow you and get more information on you. Oh, we have a little bit of a problem. Oh,

Margie:

no. Basically, they just need to stage a breakup. That's what I would think.

Rachel:

Well, what that means is they don't have the information that they need. Okay. From the the bugs yet. Okay, I need to catch, like audio of him and the mob guy, right, discuss. Yeah, right. And so they need to keep it going until they get that because they cut it off immediately, then that puts everything like she's at risk now and like, a lot of shit. Why is she at risk? Because if so, think of it this way. If this dude is following Nick, figure out more about him. Right? They break up. Nick still has to pretend to be Nick Stanton because the guys still gonna be following him.

Margie:

Okay, why would he still be following though? I

Rachel:

thought this guy's fucking crazy.

Margie:

Okay, so Shiraz is just crazy. It's kind of cool. Okay, so crazy. Okay, so he would even if they broke up, because I was thinking like, if they broke up, then the jealousy thing is gonna.

Rachel:

Yeah, cool. And the other thing is so and Nick kind of asked, Tell Jordan about this. Yeah. So like, they get to her place because they're pretending he's gonna have to pretend to spend the night there. Yes. Sexy wine party, right? Um, and he's like, Okay, let me spell it out for you. This is bad. We have to continue to pretend keeping up this charade. We can't really show brother yet. Because if your brother immediately gets released after all this like and then that guy ends up getting any any information on me. That's gonna come back to both of you. Right? And also, it's gonna like hell sketchy if your brother just gets on? Yeah, randomly. Right, right. So it's like, there's a whole lot of stuff. And he can't go home for his mom's 60th birthday. I'm just thinking that let's just say Yeah, and like, so. He tells Jordan about all this that night. She gets obviously upset. Yeah, she leaves and you know, whatever. He calls in a favor, which is? Well, this is a different FBI. Okay. It's intentionally nebulous. We'll talk about it later, huh? Yeah. Hmm. It's good, though. Very good. Very. But so in the morning, he calls his mom. Yeah, so tell her and he's like standing in her in her kitchen. While she does? Well, he does. Like thinking she's asleep. And after he gets off the phone, he's obviously upset about it. And she comes in, she's like, I'm so sorry. I just heard that. Are you okay? And like, feels really bad. Yeah, there's some good bonding going on. Oh, I'm so seen for Jordan and Nick. Keep playing their part. They have to write they don't hang out. Like it's not like a every day hanging out together. It's like, you know, a couple times a week kind of deal. Like just just casually keeping it up. Right. It's a casual, fun situation. And like he goes and meets her friends. Oh, by the way, well, they weren't gonna do that. Right. But now they gotta keep up the charade. Yeah, well, and also because they have keep having to think like what the Knicks can be doing okay. Yeah, I have to go do this. Cuz neither of them want them to meet her friends because she's really close to her friends. Right? a really hard time lying to her friends. Okay, but I apparently though someone snapped for the tabloids in Chicago, a picture of him and her and like, they didn't get a lot of his features. But okay. Oh, wow. That's not good. Well, he's being described as tall, dark and mysterious. And so her friends are like, Bitch bring fill it. Yeah. Tell us now. Um, so and like, she he brings her dinner after she's really long day at the at the wine store and everything and like, they're they're just kind of keeping that up. And actually, they're like, learning about each other like, actually about,

Margie:

hey, like you do when you spend lots of time together? Don't hate each other. Right? Yeah. So

Rachel:

like, he's learning about how she has no access to her dad's money and like, she's done all this on her own and like she, hell, she struggles her own driveway, because why would she pay for someone to do that? Right, perfectly capable and like stuff like that. And like, she's learning that his dad was in New York cap and like her. His family is super Italian and live in Brooklyn and like all this stuff, like learning about each other and everything. And after a couple weeks of this because it's gone. They just haven't gotten anything from the bugs yet. We've gotten a couple we've gotten a couple meetings Okay. Haven't nothing that they like, it's stuff that they could probably do an arrest but nothing like secure an arrest. Right, like an indictment kind of right. Oh, yeah. So they really want to try to wait and get really concrete evidence.

Margie:

It's Carlos, everybody and he's standing on a bag.

Rachel:

He's cracking. He's doing a quick quality control. on equipment. How did everything look? Did it look perfect? Yeah, okay. nificent Okay, I'll start with the cabins. So after a couple weeks Jordan is alone in her shop. Close to kill closing time. Oh, again, Nick. Nick has been followed like this entire time. Okay, he has a fake office that he goes to during the day. I

Margie:

was about to ask about that. How are they faking the business?

Rachel:

They they went in and they faked all those documents. Oh my god. Whoa, FBI dude. Yeah. And I don't know how that shit works, but at least it's described in a believable way. Fucking magic. Magic. Like, you know, don't don't go Yeah, it's fine. No,

Margie:

I sponsor us.

Rachel:

If that ever happens, they're gonna stop by your wine store before it closes and drag you out into a snowstorm. That's how they're gonna tell you that there goes right. Okay. Okay. When you're able to tell me because it'll be a secret. Secret. How would that work? FBI? You're we're sponsored by the FDA. Wait, shit.

Margie:

Okay, all right. Maybe that's exactly what happened. Oh, God.

Rachel:

But so next month follow this whole time they've set up a fake business. He has his own fake apartment that they've like they set up like a townhouse for him because he has to keep up raises. Yeah. No. can do to as a cool million selling real estate to ties. Right college kids. Yeah. And so he goes to this face of fake office every day and pretty much just sits there with some fake interns from the FBI. He's like, it's so fucking boring.

Unknown:

Oh, my God.

Rachel:

But He but So Jordan is closing up the wine store and some chick kind of barges in, not barge comes in and like comes up straight to her. Now Oh, good. Nick had to do this whole thing. Oh, no, he had just gotten out of like six months of deep cover. And I got a call from previous fling, who was like, kind of emotionally abusive based on that conversation. And like that stuff. But like, he's like, No, we're, we're done. He broke it off. Right? We're done. And she's like, well, when you want to make it up to me, I'll be here. Whatever. Like, okay, if a batch Yeah, yeah. Well, she comes into Jordan's wine store. Oh, good. And confronts Jordan. Oh, good. She's like, I saw that picture. And you think and she's like, my boyfriend's name is Nick Stanton. And she's like, not? Oh, you mean Nick McCall and like, Kohl's it out? Oh, my God. Right. And putting everybody at risk, right? And thankfully and she's like, well, here's what he's gonna do is gonna give you this whole speech about how he can't get like to color personal with someone because he has all this because of his job and he's gonna have sex with you. And then I'll just leave you and like goes off on this rant. Oh, my daughter is like, okay. Please leave. Yeah, she doesn't Well, so what she ends up doing is like, Oh, great. Well, I guess we'll just have to have that conversation when we come to it right interest you in this.

Margie:

Love it. You know what that bitch could use someone right? Just get her right. Go have a little tasting. Oh,

Rachel:

yeah. Well, she storms out and calls Nick. Right? On her way out. Oh, well. So up until this point. Wait, who calls Nick The Fling?

Margie:

Oh my god,

Rachel:

up until this point. Shiraz has had people following Nick. Well, one of the guys is like, well, we're getting fucking nowhere where that guy Oh, no, and sees everything. And Kohl's is bossing me like, we have a problem. So now they are aware that Nick is part of the FBI. Oh, no. Yeah. So and Nick is also like, Ah, fuck, I gotta go talk to Jordan about this. Right? She is he talks a little bit on the phone, but she is like, kind of like, yeah, she's like, I I get it. It's fine. Like, I'm right. I understand. I'm a little pissed off. But I understand. I bought stuff at her. I would have been pissed off at him. Yes. And kind of like she's she's more frustrated like with the situation Yeah. And so he drives over. And she because her thing is she's like well maybe I'm reading this wrong maybe he's not as into me as I think he is and like all this stuff.

Margie:

So that's so they do kind of there are attendees there are sometimes there are attendees,

Rachel:

but she is like not 100% Sure, like okay, maybe I'm I'm reading this right so she's frustrated about that, too. So this point, another dude comes into the the wine store who like she had seen before who like had flirted with her before, and he's like, You owe me a glass of wine based on the previous flirting and she's like, okay, yeah, so she's like, sitting down having a glass of wine with him. And Nick comes in and is hella jealous. He's like, Oh, no. So they have like a little bit of like a fight not a fight fight, but like a like they exchanged words. Yeah, like TIFF. Well, yeah. And it ends with him saying, You know what? pocket and just kissing her. Oh, I like you. Let's go out and she's like, okay. Hey, I have a business trip in Napa Valley coming up. You should come with me. He's going to Napa Valley.

Unknown:

Okay. Okay, sure. So now it's like, bordering on not fake.

Rachel:

Yeah, that this point, they're like, this is no longer fake.

Margie:

I'm sure the FBI would actually take that so well. Well,

Rachel:

he gets a call from his like supervising. Like, what the fuck are you doing? And he's like, exactly what Nick Stanton would be doing.

Margie:

I'm just in deep, deep, deep cover, right. Okay, we're so deep in there. So deep.

Rachel:

Seems to bless us. Let's do this. Because there's a lot a lot that goes on in these last okay. So, circuit real quick to Shiraz. He's freaking the fuck out. Yeah, cuz he's like, Fuck the FBI is odd to me. And also this mob guy. As soon as he finds out that I dropped the fucking ball is going to murder me. Yeah, Jordan was in on it.

Unknown:

Oh, no.

Rachel:

Ray. Oh. Definitely didn't

Unknown:

disgrace.

Rachel:

So um, after they have this 10 DS moment and decide, yeah, let's go at least a little bit steady temporarily. Um, Nick is like, Oh, shit. I forgot to tell you the real reason I was originally coming over here. She's like, what she's like, your brother's in the hospital. But he's like,

Unknown:

oh. Please don't freak out. Yes, exactly.

Rachel:

And she's like, because she got a call from her dad saying, Oh my God. Did you hear? And she's like, No, he's like any Nick's like,

Unknown:

it's like, trust me.

Rachel:

It's like, it's like mouthing it. Like,

Unknown:

oh my gosh, it's

Rachel:

totally fine. It's okay. You'll meet her there. Meet him there like and she's like, Oh, God. Oh, a rolls with it. And Nick explains the fate. Hi.

Margie:

Yeah, Carlos. Carlos is kind of like very explorer today.

Rachel:

Um, so they go to the hospital and Nick on the way explains to Jordan that you know that that vague favor that he called in before? Yeah, so there's a dude undercover in the Deep Security Prison like that, okay for something else. And so he called it a favor and was like, Hey, we're worried about like, Jordans. Really worried about your brother getting beat up. We need to figure out a way to get them out of there. And so their way of getting them out? Oh, my god. Dude stabs her brother with a fork. Barely Nixon. Oh, they all freak out. Like, right. All the police officers like we got to take him like, like, get him out to the hospital and everything right? And he's sitting there and he's like, What the fuck guys? It's a scratch. It was a fork. I don't even know what a fucking guy got it. What the hell? And so the like Attorney General comes in is like, we're definitely concerned for your safety. So he's gonna spend the rest of your your sentence in under house arrest. Nick's way of getting an email. No, but Jordan and Nick should he's like, you can't tell them really?

Unknown:

It's Friday prejudiced. Uh huh.

Rachel:

He's like, you can't tell them what's going on. But this is the situation Jordans. Like

Margie:

he did that at the very beginning though.

Rachel:

So cinnamon roll is he is a cinnamon roll. Very good balance of dark manly man. And cinnamon roll man flesh man. Dark man flesh. Lord, man, flesh on flesh. All right, so her brother is able to go home. And but her family still doesn't know why he can go home. Yeah, they just think it's Oh, you concerned for his safety thing when Jordan and Nick are like, she's like, so you had him stabbed my brother with a fork. He's like, man, that's so fucking made it work. Right. So that's how they're kind of able to get him out of jail without it looking weird. Is they tell everyone that they're concerned for his safety. Okay, yeah. So,

Margie:

you know, I'm concerned about everybody's safety in prison. But you know, whatever. Fair. Yeah.

Rachel:

So they go to in Napa Valley. And sexy time totally ensue. Yay. Yeah, they're gonna have value. So they're in this like, kick ass cabin or whatever. And they walk in and he's like, this entire time. He's like, he's making fun of her for being a billionaire this whole time. Okay, and so they get in he's like, so uh, what do billionaire wine philanthropists do in Napa Valley for the weekend on a business trip? I don't know probably the same thing that FBI agents from Brooklyn want to do. And then they get it on I

Unknown:

Love is perfect. And it's

Rachel:

pretty good sexy time. It's like, consensual and they use a condom. Vanilla. No. Oh, good. Like, like it's it's not it's real. Okay, realistic Okay, right. Yeah, it's not like quote unquote realistic not like crazy kinky. Okay, dude can go 12 times. Chick bends and half backwards.

Unknown:

You know that great, great position, bending backwards snapping your

Margie:

spine and it's called The Exorcist.

Rachel:

So it's pretty good, mildly normal sex, okay? Like they have a really cute weekend like, Oh, she takes him because it's still a business trip. So she's like you, you do have to come to wine with me. And so like, he she starts trying to teach him how to taste wine. And he At first she was like overs like, I'm just here to like, you know, or whatever. Yeah, I'm just here for I'm not I'm over it, right. And then he again sees how excited she gets about wine. And she describes it in a very sexual way. And they make fun of it. Yeah. He's like, you would not actually say that. She's like, I will. And so like, he's pretty into her. Right. And she's pretty into his nice weekend. And turns out, it's actually not that bad tasting wine. Like he tries to put in an effort for her and they

Margie:

have sex he's willing to learn, which is very cute. Yeah, yeah. We just rolled past that bathtub. Yeah, the bathtub sec. Are you gonna tell me about that? Under the cover? Yes. Yay.

Rachel:

So this is where I was a little

Margie:

we're getting towards the end. That also sounds like very tight though. But go on.

Rachel:

It's a big tub. It's a it's a Bougie rich person cabin. It's

Margie:

like okay, okay. Okay.

Rachel:

Um, but, so they. This is where like, I'm like, Nick, I want to fucking throttle you. Oh, it goes into the like, rogue

Margie:

pride. Oh, no pride

Rachel:

part. It is Pride and Prejudice, where he's like, he's basically like, Okay, that was really great. We had a fun time. I know. But he's like, a little scared. Because again, usually women who are like strong women who like get what they want it or not usually, like, he does have a ton of experience with that. Which is dumb. Yeah, that in time, he's like, I don't he gets a little not. I don't wanna say freaked out. But it's like, he's used to being like, you know, big macho man. Okay, so he's like, I don't want to be the one to have to say it. First. I want her to say it first. Say what? I

Margie:

love you. Yeah, like, I

Rachel:

want to be with you or whatever. Because he's having this kind of mini crisis of like, I really liked her. That's a bad

Margie:

reaction, though, to make sure that it's something that she right.

Rachel:

But it's more of in a way of like, I am the beat I needed.

Margie:

I can't show my emotions. I need a strong, strong man.

Rachel:

But because he's having a little mini crisis of like, I actually don't want to go undercover again, because I don't, I would like to spend more time with her like, and this is the first time he's always like, I need to figure you feel I need to figure out what to do with my job and like so he's like, internal crying, right saying and he wants her to say it because he's like, it's a big step for him. I think. So it's like he wants I guess the validation. But doesn't tell her he wants the validation. Or like hinted in any way other than like, no hinting. hinting is bad. Yeah, just want

Margie:

to say it, say how you feel and then take the if there's a fall, there's a pole props to her

Rachel:

because they get back. She's like, Okay, what's wrong? Yeah, he's like, well, not and so like, she's like, well, like she, but she, her internal monologue kind of cuts back and forth is like, well, I know, I'm not going to push him to leave his job if he likes it. Right. I would never ask him to do that. So I'm not gonna say anything. Oh, so it's like a misunderstanding. Yeah. So he kind of storms out and is being an idiot. But he does. He storms out and she's like, kind of confused. She's like, What did I do wrong? Like, I don't know. Boys are dumb or dumb. So this whole time one guy has been freaking the fuck out.

Margie:

It's a tough person kidnap No. Okay. Thank God.

Rachel:

It's kidnapping. hostage situation. Oh, no. So the conclusion that Jordan was in on it this whole time, especially our brother gets out of jail. Okay. Yeah. And he's gonna have to deal with her before it gets out of the country. Because this is

Margie:

Oh, so he wants to murder. Yes. Okay. Do some good old murder is freaking

Rachel:

out. Okay. He's, you could tell his perception of reality is kind of slipped a little bit.

Margie:

Yeah. I mean, like, yeah, when you're ready to do some murder, right.

Rachel:

So, Jordan. In between this, I should just briefly mention that she has an interaction with her brother, where he she's like being intentionally vague, but she's like, Hey, I think I may have messed something up, but I don't know how and like, he kind of helps her talk through her and she's like, Okay, I think it's both of our fault. I need to talk to him about right like, yeah, she's like, Okay, well, it I have my own faults. He has his faults. Let's work through it. Yeah, before they talk. Oh, no. Sure us. So Sean's in her shop alone because both of them Okay, so

Margie:

they're back from Napa Valley at this point, okay? Both of her store

Rachel:

helpers have the stomach flu. Okay? Um, and so she's alone, and Shiraz comes into the shop. And she plays it cool. She's okay. She has a pretty she's pretty good at this whole face thing. And he and but she comes in and she's like, she's like something is wrong? Yeah, like, yeah, yeah. gut reaction, right? Something's wrong, right. So she hits the panic button under her counter. Oh, cool. She

Margie:

has one right? Yeah. Um,

Rachel:

and tries to keep them talking because he comes in and pulls out a gun. And it's like, has her close all the blinds and lock the doors and kill you because and like, so she's trying to keep him talking, like skirt. And she's like, like, he like smacks her like with the gun like breaks her wrist like all this stuff. My god. She's like, the FBI made me do it. They threatened my brother. They were gonna like, you know, not release him and like, like, trying to like, right, he's in there. Yeah. And Nick was like, already kind of like, I need to go talk to her about it. Right, right. And then he gets the call from his boss saying, Hey, we got a panic button thing from the shop. Right right. We think something's wrong because there's also the night that like they weren't they thought that there was going to be a meeting between this trough and then there wasn't it wasn't okay, so they know something's up so Nick Hi fuckin tails. Yeah, to her shop. And like, gets there right when his partner get though the other really good partner get there and they're like strapping on vests and like, right shit. And so Nick and his buddy end up, sneaking in the back. Pick the lock on the back door and they sneak in. And like, right as he's like, holding, like he pulls back the gun to smack her in the face again, because she keeps trying to talk to him and get shot in the arm. Yeah, because Nick's snuck in the back and totally like he shoots the dude in the arm grabs him by the throat and just bodies. Please fucking resist who's out of the league now? Motherfucker. Love

Margie:

it. Oh, that's really sexy.

Rachel:

I'm telling you, if you liked the other one, I think you'll have liked this one was really good. still bitter about how good it was. And so they like get her out of there. And she's in a lot of pain. Like her wrist is fucked up and like all this shit and, and he has this mount. Like he's the one that says like, look, I love you. I was an idiot. I'm sorry. Like, and she's like, Okay, I love you, too. But also,

Unknown:

I'm like, oh,

Rachel:

cuz this hurts real bad. Can we go to the hospital? So he goes with her to the hospital. And that's how he meets Jordan's dad and brother. He's standing there in the like waiting room and her dad and brother rushed in and are freaking out. Her brother's not supposed to leave the house and has an ankle bracelet. On the house. And he walks up and like after they find out who he is. And they're all like, what are brothers? Like? You know, I don't think this thing works and just eyes Nick. Nick's like

Margie:

you know, would have been really funny to like the brother had said like, weird just malfunctions the other day. Like, I couldn't have been because I poked it No. Brothers put up two

Rachel:

and two together at this point. Yeah. There's a reason he got out of. Right. Yeah. Yeah, like, fuck, Jordan did this for me that she's an idiot, right? Freaking Yeah. So they started dating. And it's official now. And Nick moves in with her temporarily to help to help out quote unquote, with her because I can think of a couple things she might need. And Nick puts in a request with his boss. Okay. His boss. It's been known for a while it's gonna be retiring soon. Nick says, hey, I want to be considered for your position. Yeah, I would no longer be doing ever undercover work. Right is and so he like is going to be changing a little bit so that he can spend more time with her

Unknown:

right yeah, yeah. I really liked this book. It was really

Rachel:

the reason I'm bitter about how much I liked it because I wanted something that was problematic, so I could rage.

Margie:

Don't worry my it's plenty. You're gonna get lots of raging here soon. Yeah, perfect. Yeah. Let's do it. Let's do some writing.

Rachel:

Good. Okay, yeah, let's read it. Um, so. Oh, no. That was like, what how close that was to 50 Shades of Grey in the contemporary romance thing. I was. I was not expecting that. Yeah. And that was very good. I enjoyed that a lot. Um, I'm gonna say this is probably my two for two as far as like, like the Martini one. Yeah, it's gonna be similar ratings to that one, man. There you go. Good. And like I would there's other books in the series. I would. I'll probably read them. Yeah. For her. I tried really hard to subdue my cynicism, of kind of like Nick does. Right? Right. She's rich. Oh god. Yeah, like, and I also tried to subdue my cynicism of she's like, she's rich, but she's not like other rich, right? Like it was actually done in a pretty good way because she fully understands like, yeah, I have a lot of money, and I'm gonna have a lot of money one way kicks it and he gives me lots of really good like gifts and shit. But like, I'm still really proud of what I've done. Yeah, and what I've done, like built like, it's like her thing like, right, so I appreciate it that so I would give her like a four. Okay. Um, Nick has such a cute family dynamic with his parents and stuff and his brothers. Yeah, like his brothers call. And it was like, Hey, has anyone ever told you you're a douchebag? And I was like, Yeah, my sister. Hey, whoa, what's up? About right. So like, I'll give him another four. And he had his moments of like, but it was self aware. Yeah, I'm a big dumb man. Like he mentioned. cro-magnon bullshit, but still like, right, but I still feel this way. A little bit.

Unknown:

Still upset. Right, right. It was good.

Rachel:

I'm like, give him a for two. I smile, but there wasn't a ton of it. Yeah, like, it was good, realistic smile. I give it like a three and a half. Three and a half. Probably.

Margie:

Okay. So it was like, it wasn't good. It was good. Not great. It wasn't like,

Rachel:

Oh, baby, I need to find my husband right now kind of thing. But I was like, alright, this, um, and then plot plot was really good. I enjoy. I didn't think I'd enjoy the plot. I enjoyed the plot. Well, and

Margie:

I will say this about it. The back cover of the book doesn't really tell you much. Here too. What a lot went down a lot went down. And he told the story very well. So good job.

Rachel:

And I will say as a wine lover. It just made me want why I know.

Unknown:

And we heard

Margie:

even drinking for this episode. We're not. It's really a shame. And

Rachel:

you can't drink for the next one. Because you have to be fully in your faculty. Yeah,

Margie:

but, but I am going to be drinking after.

Rachel:

Yeah, so plot plot was really good. Um, I would put that again. It's like a three and a half. Four. Yeah. It just seemed like a

Margie:

good fun read. Like, it's so hard when you're, I have these feelings of I've had like a really crazy emotional week. And so all I wanted was like a romance novel that I didn't hate. I wish I had gotten yours. I wish I got yours. Because like I needed like, something that I did a bomb. Right that I didn't have to question, you know that I didn't have to feel like

Rachel:

I will. I will send you this book. I

Margie:

pick up another one out of the series when I was Yeah, we should know because no Leni singe,

Rachel:

right? You know, I didn't even pay attention. So usually when I'm reading the descriptions on yours, I skip over the first right. I don't care but Right, right. I didn't even notice. Yeah. Um, well, and the other thing is, I mentioned Marjorie earlier, I had a lot of trouble with my second book for this weekend's recording sessions. And one of the books has not a super simple along the same vein of like, like a stalker and like all this shit and all that. And it just felt like it was slapped in there and didn't make sense. Like it just wasn't well implemented. And so I appreciate when someone can make like, have this really good emotional development and also a really good plot like makes sense. Right?

Margie:

Right. And right well executed it seemed like she spent a good amount of time on it you know, in a lot of books like we have these books that are like this is an interesting concept and it could be good but you didn't spend enough time on it you didn't do your research you didn't do and you didn't get your editor in line like something happened along the way

Rachel:

and Rachel science rating, four out of five Yes, it was actually like and to be fair, not a hacking expert but it was described in a way it's like yeah, like these are actual legit concepts used in the correct way like

Margie:

cool very cool. So they didn't but did they put did he wear a trench coat?

Rachel:

He did hit the enter button really hard he did but he was really drunk so it was

Margie:

I think though that because he was drunk he was probably using like one of those keyboard but it's not super satisfying. So right so you bitch

Rachel:

alright. Oh, raining. overall rating I would give this bad boy a seven. Good seven or 10 would read again. We'll read other ones in the series. Yep. All right. There you go. It was very good. Um, anything else? Hey, thank you, Eleanor. You for the use of your song. Oh, love off the album be held. We have some new music that's going to be happening but I've had a crazy fucking life at work right now. And so it's gonna happen after that ends. Yay. Then we'll figure that shit out. But until then, Hey, Ellen, are you you're doing great.

Margie:

It's Titanic on on recorder. So hey,

Rachel:

thank you guys so much for listening. Yes. And uh, this weekend is going to be a blur of recording. So yeah, we'll see each other perpetually for the next 48 hours but right but for you guys, in two weeks, I'll be in Japan.
