Episode 62 A moment of healing tearing me apart from Sparky seem

Margie:

Hello, and welcome to textual tension, a love hate relationship with romance novels. I am your co host Margie, and I'm your co host Rachel. Every other week one of us reads and summarizes a romance novel for the other unsuspecting go host this week that co host is Rachel me. And together we unpack what the

Rachel:

what the fuck just happened. I have got so much standing energy right now which is so not like us for normal recording and I am so ready to go.

Margie:

I really feel I'm feeling good today. And I also worked really hard on these notes. So I'm very

Rachel:

excited. Hell yeah. You know what, I'm already proud of you and we haven't even started.

Margie:

So before we dive in, though, you know, I owe our listeners an apology.

Rachel:

I might know what this apology is about

Margie:

we talked about I hope you did. Because if you don't I'm gonna ask you what the

Rachel:

other thing is. No, we have another thing

Margie:

on this podcast, always stress communication and I like to think that we are in a beautiful relationship with our listeners and that's why I feel that I must finally divulge Oh, that I have a new cats.

Rachel:

Yes,

Margie:

but I got other cat hair. It's finally time.

Rachel:

What do you think about how wet she is?

Margie:

Alright, I'm going to talk about my new hat Athena. Athena is a beautiful long haired Calico and listeners. I got her right after it was either Chris I think it was after Christmas, not New Year's. And I was really depressed. I had a really bad Christmas Rachel will attest like, we've talked about it. And I definitely can't. I did something that no one should ever do. I walked when I was depressed, and I came out

Rachel:

with a cat's Oh, and but she is so perfect. She is so perfect. The most horrible way

Margie:

her name listeners, like I said is Athena. She's She's loafing on top on the couch right now as I'm recording. And she's absolutely perfect. I adore her. She has a couple of little quirks. So oh, she's looking at me now. I think she knows I'm talking about her. She is missing some teeth which can which helps contribute to the fact that she is one thing that you never want a cat to be constantly damp. She's still in debt. She's always wet. She's always even show listeners even when She purrs I'm convinced she's from a Water Tribe north or south. I don't care she's from one of the Water Tribes she cuz she's always moist, and wet. So wet, just always wet and even her per listeners sounds wet. I don't know how to describe that. Other than that. It sounds wet.

Rachel:

It's like someone blowing bubbles in through a straw in the milk. Yes.

Margie:

She is also constantly on top of me, so I constantly wet

Rachel:

you. And not in a fun way.

Margie:

Not in the sexy way. Just wet.

Rachel:

You ever bring someone home? Good luck keeping her out of the bedroom just saying my

Margie:

gods.

Rachel:

Oh my god, you just go somewhere else for that?

Margie:

Oh, no, that's deal with it. Because listen, listen well. So like I'm getting down and dirty and she's just on my chest. Because that's where she needs to be to be on my neck. Yeah, listeners, I wanted you to know that. Now you're completely in the loop. I am not keeping any secrets from you. I really just wanted to make sure that she and Kima got along right and they don't but they get along. So

Rachel:

getting I'm hearing they're working on it. They get along well enough that we know that they will get along eventually. It's not the whole like you're you're not gonna have to get rid of it because they fight too much like they're they coexist.

Margie:

And so she said so like of course Athena came up on Janelle his lap and she was like she was petting her and she's like, you're right. She is wet. She's so wet. I

Rachel:

will say like, in all seriousness, I bet she will stop bathing herself as much the more comfortable she gets. Because that tends to be a sign of like, stress and I think that she is so used to being stressed that she hasn't like realized yet that oh, oh, I don't have to be stressed here. Like when I started taking my antidepressants. Yeah, exactly.

Margie:

Alright, so are you ready though for this book?

Rachel:

Well, so that is your fun announcement. I have an addendum that was brought to our attention by the beautiful Alexa. Yes. Um,

Margie:

I need my other thing not this thing.

Rachel:

Ah, this thing. Yes. So I was discussing the new moon episode with Alexa because love is about my light. Yes, I feel as though me the one that has not read the book needs to put forth this addendum courtesy of Alexa. Do Ella turned 18 not 17 Okay, don't add us.

Margie:

Well, we're probably well, we haven't gotten added about it yet. So we haven't we have no

Rachel:

I'm just let it be known. This is the addendum. This is the we are putting forth a fix and it's fine. Just we are aware. It's fine. Okay. All right. Hit me with this book. Okay,

Margie:

so this book was brought to us by ice wizard. It was recommended and thank you so much for this wizard. Yes. Ice Wizard. And I absolutely loved it. And I'm going to send you the cover now.

Rachel:

Oh, I'm so excited. Yeah, cuz you've been? Um, I remember you talking about this one a little while ago.

Margie:

Yes. It was my Kindle. Yeah, for for too long.

Rachel:

Oh, the flatshare by Beth O'Leary, right. I am looking sideways. Yeah, no nude Jojo. Mayer. Mais Whoo. I do not know who that is. I'm assuming that's a glowing moist center, I'm assuming that is a glowing recommendation. So it's like a fun water colori look in, or not watercolor like acrylic looking like painted background and it has. So the the title is straight up and down vertically in the center. And then on the left side is like a, there's like a pink room with a plant and a lady and it cuts off like right at her nose, wearing a pink sun dress. And then on the right side is a green room with a dude that also cuts off around the nose, who's just wearing like slacks and a button up. And it's just like, it looks very wholesome. It doesn't look like there's going first assumptions it doesn't look like there's going to be a lot of kidnapping in this one

Margie:

there is going to be zero kidnapping actually. I'm writing for wholesome so for those who have been looking for me to have a wholesome book Finally, you've been holding your breath long enough. It's finally here. Jesus, it's probably gonna be a while till it comes again. So you know I love those crazy ones. All right,

Rachel:

well, just wait till my next book. So again, thank

Margie:

you to ice wizard for recommending this. I absolutely love this book. So no need to worry ice wizard. I know that you were a bit up, but it's gonna be hard to beat it really is. Hey, oh,

Rachel:

it looks so wholesome. I feel like we've started off so we started off 2021 with a dumpster fire. Yes. But a fun dumpster fire. Yeah, that's fun. Stir fire, if you will.

Margie:

Stir fire. Sure, fine.

Rachel:

And, and now we're, we're going with the wholesome, complete opposite direction. I'm happy with this.

Margie:

Alright, I'm so ready. So triggers are unfortunately you want

Rachel:

to hit me with the description for

Margie:

Oh, right. Sorry. I knew I was gonna say let's see. Yeah.

Rachel:

Okay. All right. Ready? Yes. Tiffy and Leon share a flat Tiffy and Leon share a bed Tiffy and Leon have never met. That's a good hook. Chippie more needs a cheap, flat and fast. Leon toimi works nights and needs cash. Their friends think they're crazy. But it's the perfect solution. Leon occupies the one bed flat while tipis at work in the day. And she has the run of the place the rest of the time. But with obsessive ex boyfriends, demanding clients at work wrongly imprisoned brothers, and of course, the fact that they still haven't met yet. They're about to discover that if you want the perfect home, you need to throw the rulebook out the window. I am here for

Margie:

this. So good. Rachel, it's so good. I'm so excited to tell you about it.

Rachel:

I'm really curious how the logistics work because you would think that there would be some overlap with when they were be home. So I'm I am curious about that. All right.

Margie:

Are you ready? Triggers hit strikers. The triggers are emotional and psychological abuse. But it's not from the lead guy. It's not from Leon. Nice. Yeah. Yeah. So and I want to know, I have a little note here at the beginning that this book is as you probably could tell from the description, it's really plot heavy, and unfortunately, I have to explain a lot of it. And I also want to, I've mentioned this before, listeners. This is based in London, and I lived in London for a year and a half. So I do have some context for where they live and they will come in. All right, Nico Tiffy. Our character tippy is red haired, funny, loud, expressive and a bit of a fashionista. Tippi working as an assistant editor for a book publisher specializing in DIY. I want her life. I know. Well, she doesn't make a ton of money. That's, I mean, never mind. Yeah. So she's curvy. She's curvy and described as really pretty by her friends and later on by a certain someone. Although she doesn't really see it in herself and not really in a bad way. But more just kind of in a humble way. Judo knows you're beautiful. Yeah, right. Exactly. She's, she's, and she is very extroverted. She needs she's like me, she needs to talk her problems through with other people. And honestly, she this girl reminds me so much of myself. So partly why I love this book, personally. So Tiffy at the beginning of the book is in the middle of a fairly ugly breakup. Her ex boyfriend, Justin had been letting her live in his flat after they broke up for free just to like, help her get on her feet for a few months. But now, because of he's got a new girlfriend. Justin is like, I need you to move out and I need you to move out immediately. And oh, yeah, I need you to pay I'll pay me money. If you're not going to go, come if you're not going to move out. I need you to start paying me rent immediately. So she's like, I gotta get out of here. I gotta find a new place like this wasn't healthy anyway.

Rachel:

Yeah, I was gonna say that's like it's a shitty thing to do. Do but at the same time, like staying on I get that, you know, not everyone can can afford to immediately move out. Like, that's not not a great end to a relationship and you know, no,

Margie:

I mean, and it's like at the beginning of the book, um, I was kind of feeling like, well, it's reasonable, you know, because they broke up. It's been a few months, he's been letting her live there for free. Like she needs to either get out or start paying rent. Like that's how it works. Sorry. Even if you're in a relationship, you should play half of the rent.

Rachel:

Right? I think that I'm I'm definitely one of those people where it's like if I if something happened and like, I had to break up with someone or whatever, I would want to just get out if possible. Again, I get it's not always possible. It

Margie:

is London, like, yeah, it's and at the beginning of the book she is looking for, for a flat share. And she's looking with her. I think she's looking with her friends Mo and Gertie, who are just awesome. I love them at the beginning of this book. They're looking I think at a studio flat and it is really gross. It is really janky and I thought at the beginning of this book that Moe and Gurney were her like super eccentric parents, because they were like, look here, you can come and live with us. It is fine. Like you should come with us. It'll be okay. Just like No guys, I gotta find my own place. I've got to figure this out. I will be okay. But I think I need to figure this out for myself. So, which brings us so that situation brings us over to Leon. And Leon is a palliative care nurse and a hot in hospice. I'm in a hospice. Oh, that's rough. He's so sweet. Like oh, so

Rachel:

thanks. Sweet. Thank you, first responders and medical professionals.

Margie:

Thank you You guys are the heroes right now to Ruth. So but he is way more introverted he deals with problems on His own and His own time. He's and his description in the book. He's got light browns, like the he's got light brown skin and thick curly hair long enough to be pushed back behind his ear and he's with to gag Glee for me this is this I'm sorry, I should have mentioned this. This is tippy talking about him. A picture that she saw on Facebook. All elbows and neck. You know the type he looks like a nice guy though. In every photo, he's doing this sweet, lopsided smile. That doesn't seem at all creepy or murderous.

Rachel:

Margie, did you like this book? Because personality wise, you're the main check and I'm the main dude.

Margie:

Maybe. Alright, so Leon has his own problems. His brother Richie was put in prison for a crime he didn't commit an armed robbery. And he's already been convicted and I think he's gonna spend like between seven and 10 years in prison. Damn, yeah. And he didn't do it like Richie's the sweetest guy, another super sweet cinnamon roll guy. He didn't do it. So Leon is trying to save every penny he can to pay for riches Ritchie's appeal defense. So he needs to find a flatmate for his apartment. So we puts out this app double bedroom in sunny one bed Stockwell flat rent 350 pounds per month including bills available immediately for six months minimum flat and room slash bed is to share with a 27 year old palliative care nurse who works nights and is away weekends only ever in the flat 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday all yours the rest of the time perfect for someone with with nine to five job

Rachel:

hmm I mean it's a reasonable situation if you like it doesn't weird me out like

Margie:

I think it would weird me out at first and then once you get used to it it would be like okay,

Rachel:

yeah, and I just do the sheets a lot.

Margie:

I don't know listeners and you know I should know this because I live there. Why it says double bedroom in one bed Stockwell flat. I don't understand what the double bedroom means. Maybe I was wondering about that. Yeah, I don't know exactly what that means. I should have texted Ruth Damn it. But anyway. So and I want to put it into context. I did a really quick search of Stockwell apartments in London and let me just say this is not likely to be a thing this apartment. Like that is like Gillislee ridiculously cheap one bedroom apartments and Stockwell start at 2000 pounds per month.

Rachel:

I was gonna say like, we don't all have a firstborn child to auction off in order to get a flat in London. Right like,

Margie:

right. Well, I didn't. I was paying way more than that for something way sketchier and a worst part of London. So just

Rachel:

know, man. Yeah, stock stock well

Margie:

is also in a pretty central part of London, so it's still really unlikely. Yeah, yeah. So I don't know how Leon found this flat but good for him. Anyway, back to our story. Our girl Tiffy sees Leon's ad online and is like, Alright, let's do this. She actually gets in touch with Leon and they agree to me in the next couple of days. In between that time tipis work friend Rachel takes Tiffy out on a weeknight for some fun. And that's when Rachel and Tiffany's other best friends, Gertie and Moe kind of rally around her to tell her the news that tipis X, Justin just got engaged to someone else.

Rachel:

That was fast. Yes, I did. It seemed real fast. Yeah.

Margie:

And TIFF. He's like, Okay, time to move on with my life. Just like he has like, that's, we're gonna do this and she's upset but she's like, You know what? Okay, let's do this. Alright, so we jump back to Leon, who is having his own romance troubles. He has a girlfriend, Kay, who is less than thrilled about the idea of him having a woman sleeping in his bed, or even for him to live with another woman I think is more just why she's upset.

Rachel:

I mean, like, on one hand, I understand that on the other hand, you could move in. Yeah, well, I think if it

Margie:

I can't remember why they establish I think there was something like Rocky with their relationship anyway. So like, probably not a good idea to move in together. But so but so when Tiffy goes to see the apartment, it's actually Kay who ends up meeting her and agreeing to Tiffy living there. Okay, yep, that's all right. So I'm just going to so now I'm going to jump into one of the side plots because it is important to clarify SIFI moves in to this new apartment she does not meet Leon. She only meets K and she only she really at first only texts K if she needs something and then like a little bit Leon

Rachel:

Hmm. So is K ever around? No, like, in the so it? Okay. Why is he gone on weekends, too?

Margie:

He worked he stays with K on the weekends.

Rachel:

Okay, yeah, yeah. All right. Okay, okay, I'm falling. I'm falling. Yeah,

Margie:

so I'm just gonna jump like I said, I'm just gonna jump into the side plot because it's when it's first implant explained, one of Leon's patients a Richard Pryor who is dying is a world war two vet who has been telling Leon stories about a man he met in World War Two another soldier who he fell in love with named Johnny white. Oh, Briar, I know so happy. Um, prior hasn't seen white since the war. And Leon is using this romance as a distraction from the troubles of his brother basically, Leon is determined now to find Johnny white. He looks on online and he finds like eight Johnny whites something around there living in the UK. Who were World War Two that's an as determined to like, find and talk to all of them and find out which one How.

Rachel:

How is this man such as cinnamon I that's like the sweetest thing I know. Like, oh my gosh.

Margie:

So Tiffany is going through her own like TIFF. He is dealing with her own stuff. Since Tiffany's breakup with Justin she's realizing that she was seeing Justin through some like really, really rose colored glasses, like fluorescent, maybe three.

Rachel:

So she Oh no. Yeah,

Margie:

so she is suffering After Effects, basically PTSD of Justin's emotional abuse. Justin was a fuck boy who would question everything that Tiffy did and tell her to do in a different way. Walk Tiffy to and from places because he didn't trust her to get there on her own. What? Yeah, yeah. And question what always question what she wore and what she said. And we get like super jealous? No, no. And I quit on the bottom. Just a bunch of emotional abuse bullshit.

Rachel:

Yeah, that's like, can you like a moment of silence to appreciate that moment where you get out of a situation and have one of those? Oh my god moments like, hot day? Yeah. Then they're, it's weird.

Margie:

Yeah. So, um, it's more difficult because they're kind of going on the separate journeys before they actually meet each other.

Rachel:

It reminds me of the cat's book. Yes. The MacGyver one.

Margie:

Yes. Okay. So But thankfully, Tippie has absolutely wonderful friends. Mo who is the type of guy to like talk her through what she's feeling? Uh, why. Gertie who is like, if I see that motherfucker again. I will kill him. And Rachel okay, a co worker, who is always down for some gossip and the night out to blow off steam.

Rachel:

I say I'd like to amend my previous statement. I don't know if I personality wise and Leon, I think I'm more of a mixture of Mo and Gary. Yes,

Margie:

yes. So Mo and Gertie, so like mo Gertie interview had been, had been really close friends for a really long time. And Moe and Gertie are living together. So, oh, and there's this really sweet part with Gertie, where she's talking to me about Justin. And she's like, I hated him so much. I hate what he did to you. But there was nothing I could do to stop it. I had to just wait for you to get through it. And it was a nightmare. It was the worst thing ever. I'm so glad you're not with him anymore. And it's just really sweet. It's so sweet. Yeah, yeah.

Rachel:

I that's a situation where it's like, I will tell you that I do not approve, but it is going to be your choice. But I will tell you you're being an idiot.

Margie:

Right. And it gets to a point with Gertie and tipis friendship where it tip yes is held Gertie, when she was with Justin, you, we have to stop talking about Justin. Like, can't talk about him anymore. So, so while to go back to Leon. So while Leon is looking for Johnny white, and Tiffany is trying to get over this emotional abuse stuff that's happening with her that she's, you know, kind of waking up from Liana TVs are doing something absolutely adorable. Now remember, they have never met, they just happen to live in the same apartment at like, different times, right? Uh huh. So they started leaving notes to each other all over the apartments. At first, they're just things like, please put the toilet seat down with smiley faces all over it in order to seem less passive aggressive, or like help yourself to food in the fridge, but eventually becomes more than that to the point where they are leaving full on basically letters to one another about their lives. So she talks about two Tiffy talks about or x. And Leon talks about the hunt for Johnnie white. And then tippy, tippy leaves DIY books around from her job. And Leon like picks them up and reads them and puts in commentary, like finding commentary.

Rachel:

That's so cute. I know, I know, stinking gear, I

Margie:

know. And it gets to the point with these notes that they are covering the apartment and Tiffany's like I have to take these down or people are gonna think we're crazy. Some of these down. Or people are gonna think that we're crazy. Of course, the ongoing conversations stay up.

Rachel:

Yeah, naturally. So I do have a question. Like, not so much a question but like, a question slash commentary. How is he like, if he's only home from nine to six? That's like, nine hours. I don't know if I could do that. Because that's like, eight hours, seven, eight hours of sleep. And then you have like an hour to like, veg? At home.

Margie:

Yeah, that would say, Welcome to London living baby. Oh, that would suck. Yeah, yeah. So So Tiffy and Leon are in this adorable awkward situation where they've never actually physically met, but they feel they know each other really well. So

Rachel:

imagine that makes it easier to open up to someone too weak is that? No. Oh, okay. So

Margie:

and there's situations where like Tiffy can tell that like Leona sad because of his notes, the notes Lydia leaves, and she like makes a rocky road. Which is like it's like a chocolatey thing. I don't know. It's so cute.

Rachel:

Also like Rocky Road ice cream is I think like, I think it's is it Peanut some sort of nut Hey, oh, chocolate marshmallow right thing. So it's something like that. Maybe I want ice cream

Margie:

now. So on another occasion, or maybe on the same occasion as when Tippi is taking down the post it notes. She hears a landline ring in the bedroom. And she's like, he's like, that's weird. We have a landline. Like, it's it's 2020 or whenever this book came out, like why do we have a landline? And she answers it and it's Leon's brother Richie. So we learned she can only call landlines from prison. Oh, yeah. Okay Tiffy and Richie chat for a bit too. He's like I'm sorry Lance on here. And Richie introduces himself and kind of says the situation of like, I'm actually in prison, but it's not for something that I did but I don't really want to talk about it. And he's like, I'm so sorry. That sucks. And Richard like, Do you believe that I didn't do it and she's like, well, I can't say that. I believe you because I haven't been presented with the evidence but like, you sound like a nice person.

Rachel:

She's great and assuming it nice people.

Margie:

She's so sweet. She's so sweet. So and but also so like when TiVi so like I said the landline is in their bedroom. And Tiffy also finds underneath the bed like a plastic trash bag full of these beautifully crocheted scarves. Like absolutely gorgeous scarves and Actually it's Mr. Pryor scarves. Mr. Pryor has been making these scarves while he's been sitting in hospice Oh, I

Rachel:

was about to say if you tell me that Leon also crochets, then I think I might be in love. So I'm still.

Margie:

So Tithi leaves Liana note saying, hey, these scarves are amazing and beautiful. And just so you know, you could be making a ton of money off of these if you're interested in selling them online. So Leon is thrilled because more money for Ritchie's defense, right? Until he actually uses a couple of them to save her D one of her DIY books that she's publishing, because she uses them and some of the photography for the book that she was missing. And they're, they're super popular. So like I said, Tiffany basically represents this author who has a bunch of DIY books on crocheting. And this author has been pestering Tiffy. Like, Hey, there's this event on a cruise ship, I need you to come it's only gonna be for a day and I need you to model some of these clothes for me that some of these like, crochet patterns for me, okay. And he's like, all right, I'm gonna do it. But I think I'm like stuck. I think I have to do it.

Rachel:

Yeah, and personally, I'm not a big crochet clothing fan. Yeah, personally, I prefer knit. But you know. So this has been crafting corner with Rachel.

Margie:

And Tiffy shows up on the cruise ship. She like models. She does everything right. And who does she see in the crowd? Her X, Y is he's Justin. And it gives her like that tippy describes as undressing her with his mind, because she's like up on this pedestal being a model, right? Yeah, yeah. So tip, he's like a little put off because she's like, Why? Why was he there at this DIY event? He has no interest in DIY. Like, I hate this man. Yeah, yeah. So tell me.

Rachel:

Yeah, I was gonna say Can I just say props to the author for like, this is the way it should be. You have your main dude who's legitimately awesome. And then you have an established this is the fuck boy that we all hate. Yes. And we don't have to question about our guy. We just have to hate this dude together. Exactly.

Margie:

tippet has another event after this. And she's actually arranged a book event with with the crochet author to take place at Leon's hospice. So it's going to be like a teaching moment for people on hospice right to learn how to crochet and Tiffy and Leon agreed to meet there like me in person for the first time. Guess gaffes. And Tiffy spots it for a split second. And then he had like some bolts that she kept by for the rest of the event. I know.

Rachel:

Oh my gosh, child

Margie:

play everyone in Leon's Ward is like so like his patients would Tiffy meets them are like, Oh my god, your tippy, his flatmate. We've heard a lot about you. And that's saying something coming from Leon.

Rachel:

Dude, Leon is blind, isn't he?

Margie:

Yes. He's so blind. They're both. So there's some girls that you love them. So love this so much. So they still don't meet. But they're both they text each other later. And they're both cool that like Leon says, like, I basically just freaked out and I'm really sorry. And she's like, it's okay. Not a big deal. Don't worry about it. I mean, it's not like they're both romantically involved or anything.

Rachel:

Yes.

Margie:

So normally on the weekends, the apartment is tipis. Like I said, Because Leon goes over to his girlfriend Kay's place. Unfortunately, things have been rather uncomfortable with Kay lately, the relationship is just not what it used to be.

Rachel:

Can I make a prediction? Yes. He has to stay there at some point for a weekend and they have to figure out who gets to sleep where

Margie:

actually Rachel? No.

Rachel:

Really? Yeah. Oh my gosh.

Margie:

So Okay. Okay. So like with Leon and Kate, they're just not really enjoying each other's company as much as they were before. And to be honest, Leon is enjoying someone else's company who isn't even really there. Like he talks is our gap to 2k all the time. All the time. That's not good. No, and it doesn't make K feel great. Like she's been kind of jealous and making offhand comments about tippy, like to Leon and he's like, hey, you know, we are friends in a weird way. So, so right,

Rachel:

that's still that's not a good situation. No, it's

Margie:

not. And you know, I like it too, because Kay's also is not the villain. Like she's just she's another she's She's an understandable human being, you know right so k and Leon finally have a blowout because I think it's because also in Leon spare time he's going after these Johnny whites instead of spending time with K. And K. Like, can you stop with this weird obsession with Johnny white please? And they finally have a blowout though. She's a k does not believe that. Richie is truly innocent.

Rachel:

Oh,

Margie:

yes. Yes.

Rachel:

Yeah, that's that yeah, no, yeah, that's over.

Margie:

Yeah, that's so that's over. And Leon is so Leon actually on the weekend. Start staying with his mom. Oh, yeah. Per the agreement. Oh, yeah, typically, but tivity can tell through his notes that Leon is really upset. So she leaves him like I said extra special treats and leaves him a book from an author that she knows he loves.

Rachel:

Oh, oh, my gosh. Just kiss already. Right.

Margie:

Alright. So one detail that I left out I forgot to mention is that Gertie tipis friend is a criminal defense lawyer. Oh, Gertie, oh, is a criminal defense lawyer and Gertie has agreed to take on Ritchie's case.

Rachel:

Oh my God, no,

Margie:

I know. I know.

Rachel:

Okay. I I love this so much. I'm so here for this book right now. Like ah,

Margie:

Ritchie's appeal has also been moved up by three months, so he may not have risen as long. That's awesome.

Rachel:

Yeah. So does does Gertie feel like they have enough evidence?

Margie:

Yes. Yes, she feels so she tippy mentions to Leon she's like she Gertie would not take on this case. If she didn't feel like there was enough evidence to get Richie out.

Rachel:

Oh, I am so ready for a happy I know. So the plot progressive Oh, that sounded terrible. Sorry, the plot

Margie:

progresses in our girl Tiffy goes out for a work event, which is like at a pub or something. And she ends up actually flirting with the author at that work event. And he's very cute, like very just sophisticated and adorable. And they step outside together for a moment for some air and the author actually kisses Tiffy. And I want known listeners. This all sounds really weird. From an American standpoint. It's not weird in a UK standpoint at all, like I would frequently when I worked for a company over there, like a small graphic design company. I frequently went out to the pubs after work with them, paid for by the company. And then got really hammered and then saw people come into work the next day and go and throw up in the bathroom because they were so hammered from the night before.

Rachel:

I I have to say that's not the part of this that I thought was weird, but maybe it's because like, the kissing

Margie:

part, I get that but I also would not Yeah, he that. I don't think it would be that weird because she probably she doesn't run his book. It's not her project. It's someone else's in the project. And so she's pretty much there just to be in support of her friend.

Rachel:

Yeah, it seems fast to me, but to each their own. I'm just not. Oh, much of a hey, we hit it off. Let's start smooching. I'm more of a hey, we hit it off. Maybe another date.

Margie:

Let's smart IMAS. Let's start smooching girl. All right. Ah, so like they said, like I said, the author and Tiffy step outside for a moment for some air and the author kisses her. And unfortunately, Tippi unfortunately, from this kiss has a terrible flashback of a situation with Justin after a kiss. That she honestly had not remembered until this other guy had kissed her. And then guess who just magically shows up again? Justin,

Rachel:

I'm gonna kill him. And

Margie:

he's like, hey, I want to rekindle our relationship.

Rachel:

No, yeah, no, no, no, no.

Margie:

So remember, supposedly, he was engaged? Yeah, right. Yeah.

Rachel:

The hell happened with that. Right?

Margie:

So now at this point, Tiffany has had a lot of time to think on this relationship. And she's like, You're a jerk to me during and after our relationship. And I actually don't want to see right now. And Justin. Well, when can I see you? And Tiffany is trying to be really non committal but says I don't know, like, maybe a few months. Okay, like maybe. And Justin takes that to mean actually three months like I will, we can get back in contact in three months. And in those three months, he is real creepy. I'm just going to get into it right now. After a near death experience on her and which we'll get to here in a bit. He calls her incessantly until like 27 times until she finally texts him and says, Hey, I'm fine. Leave me alone. He sends her roses at one point when he's not even supposed to know her address. And that says, I know you said three months but I'm thinking of you xx kind of shit.

Rachel:

Oh, I hate her now. I really hate him. So back to this.

Margie:

I think everyone hate Oh, yeah, everybody hates Justin. Fuck, Justin. Justin. So at the work author a party after Justin leaves Tiffy understandable stand doubly gets hammered. Yes, yeah. Good. Go girl girl. And the poor girl wakes up the next day. She's like, Oh my God. I feel like I'm going to die. But I have to go to work.

Rachel:

Oh, no.

Margie:

She's running really late. She's running really late. So she's like, Oh, shit. Oh, shit. I gotta get up. I gotta get dressed. I gotta get this. I gotta get that. And so she runs it to the bathroom, adjust her underwear. Guess he was showering in the bathroom.

Rachel:

Did she not hear the shower?

Margie:

She didn't notice. I mean, she's just like, a hungover days. The poor thing.

Rachel:

Yeah, I would have done that. I would have totally done that are

Margie:

and this is just the cutest bit like layouts like, Hey,

Unknown:

I'm over here. I might shower.

Margie:

And he's like, do you need to get the shower? And she's like, Yeah, I kind of do. I gotta get to work. And he gets out. And she adds up his towel. And he can barely say anything. Like he's just like, so nervous. He can barely say anything. And they're both kind of like on so they're both he puts on the towel like around his middle. She's only in her underwear though. And they're both kind of like side eyeing each other

Rachel:

Oh my god. I hate romcoms I would totally watch this movie so cute.

Margie:

Fantastic. So it's so cute. It's so cute. And so like to me though it's like try not to look try not to look looks and she's like what is that sticking out from under his towel so the are the first time are adorable lovelies me it is happening and I would have like it's perfect I love I would have

Rachel:

no other way for the absolutely

Margie:

and they agree though over text to let bygones be bygones and to just forget about it. Sure.

Rachel:

Never speak of this again. Never speak

Margie:

will never speak of it. But we're gonna be thinking about it. Leon after it happens and tipis in the shower. Of course the phone rings and it's Richie. And Richie is like oh my god you dove asked that. It's hilarious. I thought

Rachel:

oh my god. That's that is so like, that's a brother. That's one entrepreneurs. Oh

Margie:

my god. Yes. So this for Tiffy and Leon starts a good period where Leon starts getting over k and tip he's working on getting over x both with like her friends and therapy and their notes to each other now are just so flirty. Oh, yes. Like what happened to this cute boxers of yours with the cartoon characters. I missed them. Like, really liked that dress hanging on the back of the door. I think it would suit you. Wow.

Rachel:

i i Okay, so I think my favorite part about their dynamic is like how incredibly like flirty whatever they are. And then like when they see each other in person. Leon just panics. Yes.

Margie:

Yes. It's so cute. It's so flippin cute. But you know, things are picking up between Leon and sippy even in Justin notes. And, but Leon is still looking for his Johnny white and finds out that one of them is in Brighton. And he lets Tiffy know, and they kind of note back and forth about it. And eventually Leon invites Tippi to come to Brighton with him to find Johnny. And she agreed. Say it's like oh, man date.

Rachel:

All right. Okay. So here's the question. Did she mean it? Or is it a miscommunication thing?

Margie:

No. I think she meant it. She's pretty direct, right? She's like me, remember?

Rachel:

I'm like, fair. Yeah,

Margie:

we should date. So they both meet at the train station in London on the weekend to head to Brighton for a day trip, which I want you guys to know. It's totally possible to get to Brighton for a day trip. It takes probably an hour by train. And it's okay, that's suitable. As far as I've heard, I

Rachel:

never got to Oxford. That's how long it took us to get talks.

Margie:

But yeah, it doesn't take long so it's really cool. It's really fun. Um, so they're both pretty nervous at first to meet each other in person. Like, you know, like actually each other Actually, they got half naked. But it doesn't take long for the conversation to become pretty organic. And they both kind of agree that they feel like they've known each other for ages. And they sort of have at this point, they've been living together and exchanging notes for at least six months, for a long time. So trading notes, so the right so Tiffy and Leon get to Brighton, and they meet Johnny white on the pier. And she was adorable and eccentric and lovely and reminds me of a friend I have in London. And he's so happy to see them. But when they bring up Richard Pryor, he's like, Nope, we're not gonna talk about that. But how about we go swimming? Because I don't know why he's an eccentric old dude. Right?

Rachel:

You know what, I want to be that kind of person when I'm old.

Margie:

So Tiffy and Johnny white jumped into the water. Like they go down to the beach. tippy goes down to her underwear. And she just jumps in. And honestly, I can't say why. But I can't question her either, because I do the same thing. So Lea, I absolutely what I've gotten skinny dipping before so really? Oh, yeah, go girl, I think is actually really like, it's fun. And it's like, it makes you feel so much like a mermaid. It's really fun.

Rachel:

I've done the skinny hot tubbing count? I think so. I've done that. And that was actually pretty great. Not gonna lie, but

Margie:

naked. Alright, so naked. Anyway, Johnny white and Tiffany are in the water having a blast. But Leon is more cautious. He's hanging back. He's thinking about it. You know, because that's Leon. And it's actually a good thing because Tiffy sprains her ankle when she gets too far out. In out in the water. As she goes under. He can't come back up. She can't come out rare. Yeah. And she nearly drowns like, it's really it's like scary, really scary moment. But luckily, our boy is there to save her. goes full badass and swims out to her, grabs her and holds her back to shore. And it really is dramatic. She's breathed in a lot of water and is coughing it all up crying cold in shock all of those things and with a sprained ankle.

Rachel:

No, yeah, I I'm a little bit like upset that I didn't get to read this book.

Margie:

Right. You can still read it. I know.

Rachel:

No. Oh, I believe it but still.

Margie:

So after Leon full on romance novels her out of the ocean. He picks her up and carries her to a pub where Johnny white knows the owner. They get a room close on. Hey, oh, Leon examines her. Remember, he is a nurse. So he's actually like physically examining her and he deems that she's okay after checking her ankle and the rest of her and then he jumps in the shower because he's freezing and wet just needs to warm up. And it's really cute even when he's in the shower because even though someone is outside the door like watching TV and making sure she's okay. He like raced through shower and put putting on dry clothes because he's so worried about her. Oh, and when Leon comes out of the bathroom again and Tiffy smiles reassuringly at him he quote feels something shipped in my chest hard to describe maybe like a lock clicking into place.

Rachel:

Oh, no, I know. So is he still like gangly and like or was it like she saw an older picture of him is he just kind of that kind of guy

Margie:

is that kind of guy but you know I mean people say I've heard it so many times that like you know it's what what I think key is attractive for one thing and it's was was running inside so

Rachel:

Leon that and it's i It is refreshing not to have a six foot three wall of meat Yes, man flesh as men flesh as as I'm like character Hi, I don't have to think of a walking T bone steak talking to me.

Margie:

Alright, so our boy Leon gets Tiffy something to eat and with a combination of dry clothes a warm bed and a full belly to be falls asleep for a few hours which Leon is like this is good. Get some rest you'll wake up you'll feel so much better. And when Tiffy wakes up they go to dinner together at the pub generously offered for free by the owner of the pub along with the room to stay in for the night so they don't have to get back on the train.

Rachel:

Oh yeah, that's a sweet and

Margie:

also well tip he sleeps Leon reads Twilight because there was nothing else available.

Rachel:

Wow, that that is a connection. I did not expect right. Wow. gleam

Margie:

a tip he wakes up but she's like Twilight, and he's really honest. Like you're very judgmental for someone who just woke up So Tiffy and Leon have a wonderful, fun, delicious, cozy and long dinner together, that they're talking long after everyone else in the pub has left and the staff are like, Okay, y'all are cute, but time to go.

Rachel:

We want to go home to go home. And Leon

Margie:

carries Tiffy back to bed because it's easier than having to watch her struggle to walk, apparently, and it's a romance novel. So what else was gonna smooth? They both get into bed and like, there's an almost kiss moment, and almost kiss. But Leon pulls back he's like, you know, she didn't just have a near death experience. We're both pretty drunk. Let's just yeah, just sleep. By in the middle of the night. Tiffy pulls the blanket all the way on her. And Leon is trying struggling to like pull it back until he wakes up. And Leon's like I'm sorry, I was just trying to get the blanket back. I'm really sorry. And he's like, No, it's okay. Just next time, though. Just wake me up. And I'll fall right back asleep at Leon inside. It's like she said

Rachel:

oh, my god, I can't take the cute. I can't take it. It's super

Margie:

I know. So even though the two leads have not kissed yet. They are definitely like, Oh, hey there, and are at an 11 out of 10 on the flirtation scale.

Rachel:

Ah, yes,

Margie:

they set another date for the next weekend. And just at the flat just like in their apartment. And it goes great. They have their favorite dinner together, which Leon makes and his mushroom stroganoff. She makes their favorite dessert rocky road, and they have a bottle of wine and things gets spicy. And they almost like really spicy and they almost have sex but unfortunately, homeboy shows up Justin but boy, fuck boy. fuck boy shows up. demanding to see Tiffy Leon opens the door. And Tiffy hides in the bedroom not wanting to see him. And we get suspicious of Justin real quick because he know because Justin knows a lot of information about Tibi and her situation that he just shouldn't, you know, like, you know, yeah, he knows like she's living with, like, all this really weird stuff about her life. And, and, yeah, Leon's like, How the fuck do you know all of this stuff? And eventually, Justin's like, Hey, can I come in and see the flat she wouldn't mind. And Leon's like, oh, no, you can't No. And Justin actually tries to force his way in. And Leon is like, slams the door on him and says in or like, pushes him out and says, You try that shit again. I'm calling the cops now get out and slowly on.

Rachel:

Yeah, hell yeah. Also, I looked I just looked up what rocky road candy was because I only know Rocky Road ice cream. It's essentially chocolate fudge with marshmallows and peanuts mixed in. Ooh, yum. Yeah, it's in bar form. And I gotta say I fuck with that. Yeah, sounds really good. Right? I

Margie:

kinda wants them. But Leon, so they Leon in Tiffy that night just end up cuddling in bed together because two of these really upset you know, yeah, scared. But despite that Leon X Tiffy keeps getting better. Leon is super understanding of Tiffany's past abuse situation. And Tiffany is honestly just a really warm, bubbly presence for Leon who is still very worried about his brother. They spend another weekend together this time at a Welsh castle for a work trip for Tiffy. And there's some canoodling in the castle kitchen in the middle of the night. If he unfortunately has a panic attack, because of Justin in the middle of canoodling and layout is like he's thinks to himself. He's like, I'm not usually a violent man. But I want to be violent to justed

Rachel:

Oh, wow. Okay, there is nothing like sexier than like the calm quiet dude. Just being like, Ah, hell Fuck this. I'm gonna throw down. Yeah, it's so good. It's like being pushed to a point where like, Oh, you shouldn't fuck with them. Hmm. Oh, and all the quiet ones are the scary one. These

Margie:

two are just the definition of wholesomeness so much so that Leon pokes to be in the cheek at one point and it's like, Hey, how are you so wonderful and nice and also pretty. How are you even real?

Rachel:

Are they officially dating it tell me they're

Margie:

dating? They're dating? Oh, gosh, okay, like officially,

Rachel:

rather.

Margie:

And they're talking about things like Leon is tipis like, why don't you like switch one of your shifts or take another day off so that we can like spend another day during the week together? One more time during the week together. So the day of Ritchie's appeal comes around Which, unfortunately Tiffy cannot attend because of a work function. And she really is very sorry for it. Yeah. So now we're back to switching back and forth between these two characters. And so we're going to start with Tippi, who has an extremely important work event that involves her author who has now become something of a soul online internet celebrity in the DIY community. Oh, yeah, no, no, it's like she's so tip. He is doing great at work. In fact, she's gotten a promotion. So she actually makes like, a decent amount of money now. That's, and they show and it's getting tons of press, and it's getting a decent amount of press. Right. So I'm at his brother's appeal, and is so nervous, poor thing. Oh, at Tiffany's event, everything starts smoothly. It goes great. But then Tiffany's and Tiffany's invited up to the stage by her author, as a thank you. And while Tiffy is up there, her ex Justin takes that as a cue to jump up onto the stage and propose to her proposed to Tippie I know. Yeah, with him. I know. I know. Sippy is understandably exists. So Tiffy is frozen in shock and horror and doesn't even get to say anything before Justin jumps up. And it's like she said, Yes. She said yes. And like puts words No. Yeah, yeah. Unfortunately, that exchange was recorded. And unfortunately, in a free moment, in the trial, when Leon steps out, he checks his social media and sees Justin proposal and her suppose it Yes. And he's got it. He's just heartbroken.

Rachel:

Okay, but I feel like okay, I understand the gut reaction, but at the same time, you know, this woman right, you know, this dude, right, like, you need to get clarification my dude.

Margie:

Mm hmm. So tippy back back to tip. He is busy trying to get the fuck away from Justin backstage. He was putting up a good fight. He's like really trying to corner Tiffy until he is basically like, I know what you did in our relationship. I remember the gaslighting I remember the questioning, I remembering the controlling you dead. And this is way, way, way over done. Like you did the best thing for me. When you broke up with me. We're done. It's over and leave me alone. Until these friends Rachel and Mo have got her back. And together they get Justin out of the venue who he's very angry. Of course, because he's a douche canoe, Pastor. Yeah. And Tiffy also, but one thing that Justin did tell her was that one of Tiffany's coworkers Martin was supplying Justin with information about Tippie. So like her address? Whoa, why she was when she was at certain events. Like that's why just randomly showed up.

Rachel:

Whoa. Yeah. Yeah. To fuckboys for the price of

Margie:

one. Yeah. Yeah. So Tiffy tries and tries to call Leon but to no avail. He's not answering his phone. And eventually, actually, it's Gertie, who calls Tippie and is like, what the fuck is wrong with you to be How could you get back with Justin? Because she also saw the video? Yeah, okay. Yeah, I and that's another thing that they get into with birdies characters that she can be super judgmental, but she's working on it.

Rachel:

Right, I guess. I mean, I there's still time to save it. And I love this book up into this point. This one thing doesn't ruin the book for me. But you know me. This is my pet

Margie:

peeve. Communication. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think that it's a good presentation, though of like, but of poor communication, but like, this is a poor communication that I could actually see happening in the real world, as opposed to some of the romance novels that we've seen. It's like, how could you do that? To Leon? How Dario. Syfy, Syfy real, like, Tiffy had not known that Leon saw that video. And, and now is like, oh, no, he thinks that I and She's devastated. But she's also horribly hurt because her best friend accused you of something horrible. Yeah, and so she grabs the phone from Tippie and is like, Gertie, what the fuck is wrong with you? Oh, you saw that video? Oh, really? Did you think about I don't know, talking to her. Okay. Mo Mo better, you know, also, you know, Tiffy better than that's come on.

Rachel:

Okay, I'm Oh, yeah. Oh, by the way, I can ask, I believe Yeah. And I also love

Margie:

it. So in this span of time, so after the trial, which we don't know how it was settled yet, we won't know for a little while. So I guess you would say quote, unquote, the jury is out right. So in that span of time, Leon's like, Well, fuck it, I'll just go to work because I've got nothing better to do. And actually at work, he sees Johnny white at hospice. And he, Johnny white asked Leon if Mr. Pryor is still alive, and Leon confirms that he is in white asks if you can see prior and to make it clear prior is he's almost gone. Like he's about to die. So Right. And Leon is like, God, they he, Johnny white, he waited so fucking long until it was almost too late and lands like I don't want to wait. I want to at least know I want her to know how I feel about her before it's really too late. So he leaves work and finally looks at his phone. And, and he looks at his cell phone and I don't know how this happens. I don't quite remember. But he sees calls from Richie and present like an unrecognized number. Oh, I think he gets it from like a cell phone from a guard or something. And Richie is like, I had been trying to ring you forever. Tiffy didn't say yes, you dumb ass. Justin spoke for her putting words into her mouth like the homeboy he is now will you go fix this, please. She is a wonderful human being. How did Fritschi know so Gurney got in touch with Richie Grady was like because they knew that Leon wouldn't like Leon wouldn't not answer for Richie. Yeah. All right. So they were basically waiting for a Leon to call Reggie and see how he was doing. Because they knew right Leon would do that eventually.

Rachel:

Hey, you dumb piece of shit. Yeah, maybe think for two seconds. Yeah.

Margie:

So Sophie is sitting out on the balcony with a huge glass of wine. Like, I think it's like a two in the morning or something like that. And she's with Mo Mo has stepped out to get food. And she's just so sad. So upset. And she looks across well, so she gets a call finally from Leon. And he's like, I am so so sorry. I am so sorry. And I have flowers here for you. But then I thought that flowers weren't the best thing because Justin bought you flowers. And I felt really bad. But I also wanted some physical sign of like how sorry I am. So I bought flowers. And they want so and she's like, where are you? Where are you? And he's like, look across the street and he's across the street from Harry's like, I'm not sure if you wanted me to actually come in. So I'm standing across the street.

Rachel:

Oh, okay. All right. Yeah, we're back. I'm here.

Margie:

Yep. So they are actually like, they both hang up their phones and they start actually yelling at each other across the street and tipis like, my friends are great. They're awesome. I love them. But I really needed you and you just ghosted and I'm really upset about it. And he's like, I know and I am so sorry. You know, every reason to be upset. But I'm gonna prove it to you. Like I they're yelling at each other across the street. And another flat is like, do you bloody your mind? It's in the wee hours of the morning.

Rachel:

Oh my god.

Margie:

So Leon actually climbs up the drain pipe to their little balcony and I don't know why he decides to do that. I don't remember why he doesn't use the door. Maybe just have a key sir. Okay. And basically, it comes down to Leon is just so sorry and understands why she's so upset. And they make up and they're just really relieved to be back together. Oh, yeah. And so mo wachsen who had been mo oxen who had come in with comfort fish and chips for Tippie and it's like, okay, I guess I will take my fish and chips elsewhere. And after yawn and tippy have the stag finally they have the say they have the sex and it's fine. It's fine. It's nothing like to write home about.

Rachel:

I mean, fair, yeah,

Margie:

I it's well, it's one of those things where it's like, you don't hear about penetration or anything like that. So I don't think though, I have no idea of what we're gonna cover and under the covers,

Rachel:

okay. I kind of expected that for a book like this where it's like, okay, it's probably gonna be the classy way of dealing with sex where it's like, and they have sex or something flower more flowering. Right? Which Right, totally fine.

Margie:

Um, so Tiffy and Leon spend a wonderful sex filled weekend with each other together. And with Grady's help tip, he actually begins the process of getting a restraining order against Justin. Good. Yeah, hell yeah. And when the weekend ends, and Tiffy returns to work, she confronts her co worker Martin about as liaison with Justin. And Martin is like, Hey, I thought I was doing the right thing telling where you lived and what you were doing and how you're doing who you're with. He made it all sounds so romantic that you guys were gonna get back together. And yes, you know, he was giving me some cash on the side but so what

Rachel:

Do fuckboys for the price of one? No, it is never okay to tell someone they're like someone else's address unless that person is okay

Margie:

with it. Yep. But no one good news out of that is that Tiffany now has a witness for her straining order against Justin.

Rachel:

Ha, nice. Okay. All right.

Margie:

So but the really good news is Richie wins his appeal. Yay. Yes. And he gets out of prison. And the first place he's going to go is to Leon and tipis to celebrate with Tiffy Leon mo ingredie. Oh, yeah, yeah. So that night, Leah Fimo and Gertie are all in like the flat Tiffy and Leon splat waiting for Richie. When they hear the door, knock, and guess who it is? Just by just

Rachel:

asking someone punch him. Please tell me someone punches

Margie:

him asking to speak to Leon. And Leon comes to the door and says if you're thinking of proposing to me to the answer's no. Yes, I know. I love that. I love more, but I love them so much more for that. Sophia, Justin speak. Justin tries to get to feedback like saying like they were meant to be like, Oh, no, wait for me. You You need to leave. Justin says that she's behaving like a child. To which tip he slams the door in his face. And Tiffy could tell good he was drunk. So that's all good. Just begins sorry.

Rachel:

I was gonna say I at first I was like, how many? How many? Like hints do you need and now I'm thinking you know, instead of a hint, maybe we just get a bat and right hand on it and hit him with I think it's less

Margie:

greatly more just sees Tiffy as an object. I don't think he got some like so sociological disorders like up I

Rachel:

feel I feel like it might be a point of pride for him. That's what it kind of seems like of like, oh, well, I broke up with her and she didn't come crawling back to me. So now I have to you know, right? Yeah.

Margie:

Um, Justin begins to try and bark bark down the door with his fists, like banging on the door. And um, but they hear on the other side of the door. You love prison. Justin really loves of guys like you in there. It's Richie. And when Leon opens the door to let Richie and Richie simply pushes Justin out of the way, like really strong and wachsen himself. Like close the door behind Richie. And Richie is like, relax. He's not gonna get through, it's gonna be fine. Well, we'll get out on the balcony and call the police and wait for them. But he's like, it's really cute because Richie is super jovial because he just got out of prison, right? Like, a super party mood. So everyone else is really nervous. And he's like, yeah, it's gonna be great. A free.

Rachel:

Let's drink champagne. Right, exactly.

Margie:

So Justin is arrested by the police. Hell yeah. And they all celebrate a wonderful night together. So we're almost done, I swear. So two years later, when Tiffy gets home on work, everything's still happy, right? They're still in the flat, like everybody's happy that when Tiffy gets home from work, there are new notes from Leon around the apartment, which she reads and she's surprised to find she's meeting Leon and Brighton. He is already there. So she follows the notes to the beach in Brighton, where there's blankets laid out and there's loads of tea lights, and it's really pretty and there's a note weighted down by a shell. Inside, bouncing up and down listeners inside the envelope is a note from Moe and Gertie saying how much they love Leon, and they love how happy he makes Tiffy and they're so proud of her and their friends and that she's found happiness for herself. And inside a cardboard box is a ring and a note from Leon asking Tiffy to be Leon's wife. Ah Oh, hello, no,

Rachel:

I know I'm assuming he's like hiding behind a rock or something.

Margie:

No, he it's it tells her it so the no also tells her like the notes really sweet too is like take all the time you need to think about it. Like no matter what happens. It's okay. I love you data. But it asked her then it asked him to meet Leon at the end that he carried her to from the sea in the same pub. She meets him at the end. She says yes. And he's like, really? And she's like, Yes, really? Yes. I want to marry you. And they live happily ever after.

Rachel:

Oh, I mean, I love how that is the complete opposite of what Justin did. Yes. Like Justin did it straight up like literally on camera and in front of a ton of people totally out of nowhere and honestly, super uncalled for and Leon is like, we're fine here. Here are some notes in the ring and you, you just decide on your own right and we'll figure it right.

Margie:

Well, and that's what if during their fight when Tiffy and Leon kind of had you know, that freakout momentary freakout, right? That's what Tiffy said to Leo. She's like, I've had the romantic gestures. I don't want them anymore. I had them from Justin and it was shit. It wasn't real. And he's like, Yeah, I should. You wouldn't want that.

Rachel:

Yeah. So oh, I this book was healing. I need it. So

Margie:

good. Right. It is so good.

Rachel:

I put this one on the same tier as red white and royal blue. Yes. Yes. Yeah. Yes. It's that's which honestly was like, I think my favorite book from last year as far as like, just good books. And I feel like this one like, man, we're starting out. 2021 strong.

Margie:

Yes, it was. It was wonderful. So let's just like run through the characters and all that because I just give five out of five to all of them. Like I think

Rachel:

I think it is fair to assume that um, pretty much everything gets like blows it out of the water. Is this a 10? Is this another

Margie:

10? Is this a 10? Yes, yeah. Yeah, it really writing why is that well, so I'll just say writing wise. I loved the writing in this book, because she writes very differently, depending on whose perspective she's writing from, which is really cool. So good. Yeah. Yeah.

Unknown:

That's an honestly, it.

Margie:

Had the cover of the book it references JoJo Moines. I think that's her name. Who wrote what does that book you after me or me before you shoot that really famous book called me before you?

Rachel:

I you know, me, I

Margie:

live under a rock. So it is a really, really cute book. However, I would argue that the writing in this book, like the prose is better than me before. Me Before You. Yeah, me before you.

Rachel:

This is legitimately like I I'm gonna have to actually read this one. So good, Rachel. Yeah, I love I love it when an author can do that. Like, when you can literally open to a page start reading and know who's talking. Yep. Yep. Exactly. Because that's like, that's the mark of a really good author.

Margie:

So yeah, that's, uh, that's what I guess so.

Rachel:

Yeah, yeah. I think this bad boy is like a 555. Sex doesn't really count. Yes, actually. 10

Margie:

Yeah. And don't worry listeners. For those of you who get under the covers, I do have a really good under the covers for you still.

Rachel:

Oh, okay. All right. Man, so this was awesome. It was really very happy.

Margie:

Rachel:

Thank you. I'm glad that you came back after New Moon and we're willing to go on honestly, just the most wholesome and wonderful ride that

Margie:

deserved a wholesome ride. You know, after all that depression bullshit,

Rachel:

right? Yeah. Well, and and this is something we can hold in our hearts. When when my episode comes back comes out two weeks from now, right? Because we're gonna need it.

Margie:

Which one was Oh? Do you remember what you did?

Rachel:

Oh, oh, we haven't recorded

Margie:

Rachel:

No, you don't even know what's coming. I haven't even finished it and I don't want

Margie:

all right. Well,

Rachel:

and hey, Eleanor, you thank you for the use of your song. Oh, love of the album be held. And hey, listeners, can I just I know I say it a lot. But like, we really do love you. And like you're doing great in case you needed to hear that you are doing wonderful. Even if it's just your best and you are just surviving. You're doing fan nominal. Yep. Just Yep. Just throw that out there. Yep. Yeah, no love.

Margie:

All right. Yeah. Love you guys, y'all.

Rachel:
