Speaker 1:

Alright, welcome back. Hey, here for the 12th session, the land of EM RPG Happy.

Speaker 2:

Saturday everyone, you know I just realized that that means that our Halloween episode is going to be 13. That is kind of spooky. I love that fact.

Speaker 1:

I think you guys are gonna die. Yeah at least one of us.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's just gonna be a party of zone and back.

Speaker 1:

Just, you all get to share zone and back. Yeah all right. How are you all doing today?

Speaker 2:

Living the dream. You know, I I've been thinking about using some of these experience points that I have. I have 21 experience points Backed up and I suggest that we do some leveling.

Speaker 1:

Let's do it. Did you guys? I forget, if we did experience last time, we did right, I think we did.

Speaker 2:

What's your experience?

Speaker 1:

So now's your chance to trick me in game works right, I know right.

Speaker 2:

I don't think we did. I mean, I thought we got like 40 points we didn't get. I have, like I have total of 39 experience that I've gained over the whole period. I think I might have forgot to record a couple because I'm done like that. What's your total XP? My total unused is 21 right now. Do you know what your total use with everything is? I do not. I don't know, I know I've upgraded a couple things.

Speaker 1:

I'm fairly sure.

Speaker 2:

And, like that, all of our viewers have left. I'm teasing. It's true, though it's true, let's see. Yeah, I don't know. I mean it says I have six remaining XP. It's possible that I've spent a lot Because I'm level 40, 5 5 4 yeah.

Speaker 1:

I was gonna go back and rewatch, which makes me Well, yeah, either way. Oh, you're both level four, right?

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

James, have you spent much on yeah, like skills and stuff?

Speaker 2:

And I haven't. In fact, I let's see, I'm going to spend some points on skills. Actually, that's that is my primary objective at the moment. I'm going to spend and, let's see, nimbleness is the bane of my existence. So I'm going to Take that minus one to a plus Seven Plus zero, and then I'm gonna do it to a plus one by spending six XP total. That's the mathematical equivalent of turning your frown upside down, you know yeah, yeah, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2:

So, so I'm gonna do that, which puts me at 15 hit point, or I'm sorry 15 XP.

Speaker 1:

What are hit points? I don't, I don't know what they are.

Speaker 2:

I'm sorry.

Speaker 1:

I got this thing called courage.

Speaker 2:

Is that like a surrogate or something you know, plus one nimbleness which is gonna change everything? I think I love it and let's see. And then I am going to Go to level five, why not?

Speaker 1:

I got, we got party imbalance here.

Speaker 2:

Oh, wait, a minute, I can't. I'm sorry. I'm one XP off, so I'm gonna hold on to it. I'm gonna. That's, that's all I'm gonna do. I'm gonna upgrade my nimbleness so that I've I've got dancers feet and then Next, next time we gain XP, I will go to level five. I'll make the big step because I'm one XP shy. I'm looking at my recorded XP and I'm fairly certain that I have failed to record for three sessions, because that is who I am. So I will go back and watch the tapes and catch up. I gotta improve my performance, so I'm gonna go back and watch the tapes.

Speaker 1:

So I did something, I updated the quest log. Okay, yeah, my god.

Speaker 2:

Oh great, okay, so we can bring everybody up to speed. If you're just joining us now we are about to engage an actual play of the land of EAM RPG, the RPG that's inspired by the world of the rickety, stitch and gelatinous goo graphic novel series. And let's take a moment, let's, where were we? What's, what's up next? Let's, let's.

Speaker 1:

So you guys are almost dead in the middle of Marshgate Manor. Here you are on the map and you were trying to find the crazy Ernie Fellow. I was gonna say the crazy, crazy Ernie, but he's just crazy Ernie. He's a trap maker, an inventor, known throughout the Mucklins, especially among the Dunge nearing community. He's a mastermind. He's also an idiot savante. The people of Marshgate are trying to vie for his you know skills so they can use his mastermind for their own purposes. But he's gone missing. And you last time went into the manor, encountered any number of traps was like five or six or seven traps. Right, we use that, we actually.

Speaker 2:

I'm gonna stop you there for saying we actually use the random dungeon generator that comes in the land of EAM RPG rulebook, and so not to go into too many details on that, but the the goal is to get these meta currency called keys, which can help you unlock a door literally or achieve a goal. And If we were able to actually find a mythic horde using six keys, that we are able to. But we didn't find crazy Ernie, and so there's a. There's gonna be some drama at the beginning of this quest because George and I, galen Riley, both only have two courage, I think two out of, so we're very weak at the moment, but we're we're armed with some, some new gear and Anyway, sorry Ben, I just wanted to throw that in there because it was cool to use the random generator.

Speaker 1:

That's all good, but one thing I did notice when I updated the quest log. Here's the old quest log. I don't know, if you guys gained XP for certain things like Helping the town of Marshgate, getting rid of the thing and driving out gear gar.

Speaker 2:

Oh, interesting. Oh, because they're like major, like they got resolved along the way, but we maybe only did XP for that session, right, instead of like a more meta XP game.

Speaker 1:

So you're saying like 30 XP. Yeah, we're gonna tack on two more XP. I love it. And yeah, so you are both in Marshgate Manor. I think you're at the point where it's like Nighttime. You would be time to make camp in this place.

Speaker 2:

Okay, we're deep in the manner we're gonna secure all the entry and exits and and camp for the night. I inside this, this mansion. I use the well crafted lock that we got in our set to just lock one of the doors behind us. It's a great idea. That's a good idea. Nice, yeah, we got so many like items, lord and after, after being super under prepared with equipment and items, we got like a bunch of magical items and magnificent items. So I'm I'm feeling pretty good about my abilities to to do some things. Yeah, we have a man, an amazing map that we need to use eventually.

Speaker 1:

Yes, what was that called like?

Speaker 2:

it was mad Miriam's multiple map.

Speaker 1:

Yeah right, I've got that in my inventory, which gives you plus 90% treasure hunting. Yeah, it's like a guaranteed magical item base three times we can.

Speaker 2:

We can use it three times to almost certainly guarantee a magical item. And what was the history? This item, like a, several wars have been fought over it, so that actually made me nervous. That like, if anybody found out, yeah, like crazy.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, so you guys are making camp. You'll have to eat and drink if you want to gain some courage back and Nice. You also have the chance to ask each other some pointed questions if you feel the need.

Speaker 2:

Well, let's. Yeah, I said Galen, I'm stuffing my face while you have. I have rations still I'm oh, I was just gonna ask, like if you remembered the old crazy Ernie outlet back in our hometown before it got destroyed. They calm crazy because of the screaming deals, the crazy deals to sell booby traps and another Another items that are used to secure the premises. He's like a super duper security guy. Yeah, I think, like I remember every time I walk past it coming back from like you know classes and whatnot, I would look at it and I would walk past the door and at the door it had one of these screaming skulls and and like which is it? You know typical alarm trap in the land of aim. And every time I walk past it, just like these flyery blue eyes and just howl at me and I would be terrified now to run.

Speaker 2:

Every time you step on that little mat in front of the door. Every time I think a crazy Ernie like I think of that skull and then like makes me shudder and I want to run away. Wonderful finding those skulls in this mansion man. I hope not. No, kidding, eat a hot dog.

Speaker 1:

Tube steak.

Speaker 2:

I'm not gonna get you steak the tube steaks are D8, right, I Don't actually have one, I only have a Wait. No, I ate all my rations. Yeah, geez, we got to get some rations, yeah, so, but then the tube steak is D8, correct? I Think, no, no, no, I have just regular rations, so then I think I eat them. Yeah, I rolled a two on the six.

Speaker 2:

Oh oh wait, riley didn't have anything. I didn't have anything, it's alright, you know. Good night. I Sit there like Stomach rumbling, looking at the fire. I kind of like chewing.

Speaker 1:

Let me ask you like does this uh Urk you a bit?

Speaker 2:

Riley, here you know yeah yeah, I'm you know that we do have water, thankfully, and I've been slowly heating up a mug of it so I can put his hand in it while he's asleep, I think. I think Galen like had a moment of selfishness because, like while Riley was asking a question, he was just stuffing rations in his face. Yep, and I Burp, I shrug and I say I'm sorry, I didn't realize you hadn't gotten rations for yourself. It's okay, we're bound to find a kitchen or something in here, right, these rich oh gotta eat you, zona.

Speaker 1:

and Bach has found a little patch of dirt and his Started rooting his feet in there and he says oh, I'm sorry, riley, would you like some fresh soil? You?

Speaker 2:

know what on a normal occasion I would. I would like some fresh soil, but you know I'm feeling okay, I'll, I'll just, I'll just get some, get catch some, some shut eye and and in the morning maybe root around for some rats or.

Speaker 1:

It was very Considerate of Galen not to share his food it was it was.

Speaker 2:

And when he wakes up in a puddle of his own pee, then Galen. Galen hears you mumbling about Eating rats and he kind of like stirs from his slumber. He wasn't quite asleep any, since. Wait, if you were eating rats, but you're a shrimp. Like how does that work? Is that Like a close cousin of cannibalism? It lives hard and shrem it's like you got to do. Yeah too, today's. Yet there I chew on my hat all night. It works. My drag is a great Helm of lies I. I just remembered that that was my hat, that is what you got.

Speaker 1:

So I guess Riley is not gaining any courage tonight.

Speaker 2:

No, I'm not getting any courage. But you know what? I have faith that we'll find something in here. It's got to be like a kitchen. You've got to have faith, big mansion.

Speaker 1:

Wow, you could spend a key.

Speaker 2:

Yeah and get.

Speaker 1:

To find such things, oh interesting.

Speaker 2:

Because I think we have two keys right. Is that where we're at? I thought do we?

Speaker 1:

We spent all the keys, yeah, we spent the whole. We spent all the keys.

Speaker 2:

The last action was the last action. Yeah, we managed to miraculously get six keys and we spent them to find treasure.

Speaker 1:

Treasure, treasure. Ok, so the knight passes without any interruption, luckily.

Speaker 2:

Do I gain hit points? This is D6. Yes, yes, you do All right, Galen will go ahead of rally for everything we do in here and take the first hit.

Speaker 1:

All right To adventure, let's start next.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, let's rest and then start exploring these halls, see if we can find Ernie.

Speaker 1:

So, to go over it again, the way this works is one of you make a search, check and, based on your result, you may get a key and you may encounter a hazard, or both, or lose a key, gain two keys, you know Right, so let's do it.

Speaker 2:

Georgie, let's do it. Got a D12 burning a hole in my pocket and it's an 11. Nice, nice, look at that, look at that, look at that.

Speaker 1:

So that means you would gain a key. Look at that. Describe to me what happens.

Speaker 2:

So I take back the lock that I had put on this door, tuck it back in my pocket and I open the door. It was a very rusty wooden door. The creak's open and in front of me I see another wooden door, no more than a foot away, kind of like how in hotels there's those two doors between rooms. I look down at my feet and there's just a key between the two doors, a literal key. Wow, that really worked out. Yeah, I say yeah, that search check was pretty easy. And I turn to Riley and I say you're up, all right. I say I think we should maybe try out this way. Should I have added a quest point? Oh, that's a one. Now the land of EAM begins.

Speaker 1:

Is that your total?

Speaker 2:

The land of EAM gives and takes away. Oh wait, a minute. Do I have a? Yeah, it is my total. That is a one?

Speaker 1:

Oh, no, the land of EAM giveth and the land of EAM takeeth away. Yeah, so you lose that key so easy to find.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Hand.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, Galen hands me the key.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I handed to you and I'm holding it.

Speaker 2:

I'm like, yeah, I think we should go this way. And then Galen says, hey, the key, and it won't be in my hands. I'll just be like I don't know what to do. I don't know. I got so excited. Zona and Buck writes down I saw what the key went, but they have not allowed to affect their course of action at all.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, the footnotes will show it's completely, yeah, completely neutral party. All right, roll a D6. Ok, here we go.

Speaker 2:

D6 to.

Speaker 1:

Oh man, I know I was hoping for like a riddle or something, but Well, this is a modified rule here, because this place is only full of traps and riddles.

Speaker 2:

There's no creatures to know I got it, that's fair.

Speaker 1:

Now roll a D100.

Speaker 2:

57. What do we got? 57, come on, let's not be too perilous.

Speaker 1:

You see a large still pool of acid stretching out before you in a chamber. It's entirely placid, wow.

Speaker 2:

And that's it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean basically it's this acid pool obstacle in front of you.

Speaker 2:

Lake Placid, but it's PL apostrophe acid.

Speaker 1:

There's about 30 feet across that you would have to navigate somehow.

Speaker 2:

Oh, it's crazy, Ernie, he does not mess around at all. Is there anything floating in the acid or is it just that's it Just a flat pool of acid?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 2:

Hey, sorry about that. Minor technical difficulties. Oh, disconnected or reconnected? I didn't hear a word you said, which means you're going to have to repeat everything on the stream again. But can you hear me?

Speaker 1:

You're looking at a 30 foot acid pool In front of you.

Speaker 2:

A 30 foot acid pool? Ok, oh, it's waiting for your reaction. Yeah, that's a 30 foot acid pool, I take it. There are no boats that are acid proof. Oh, can I? Oh, ok, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe. Let's see.

Speaker 1:

Let me look at my abilities.

Speaker 2:

I wonder if we can create something across on the other side that we might be able to hit like a drain lever or something. Weakness or vulnerability yeah, let me try discerning. I Ben to create a weakness or vulnerability in someone or something within a line of sight. I'm going to say that at the far edge not the far edge, maybe like the right edge of the acid pool, about halfway across, like 15 yards, let's call it there is what appears to be just a kind of rusty metal door that looks like it would be a drain mechanism of some sort, and while we can't necessarily see what is going to activate the mechanism, we could probably maybe hit it with a ranged attack and crack it enough to start draining the acid.

Speaker 1:

All right, I like it.

Speaker 2:

Let's see what we got. Perception bonus is a plus one, that's an 11. Nice, you speak the truth.

Speaker 1:

I am true speaker. I do not deceive you, it's true.

Speaker 2:

So I think we want to make this happen. Yeah, I mean, we got some good stuff, got some darts and a blow gun A bow and arrow. Yeah, and a bow and arrow, so maybe we can each take a shot at it and pray.

Speaker 2:

Can I inspire Riley? I'll say I know your stomach's grumbling, but you always say you work better on an empty stomach, so I think you do this. I'll give Riley a plus two to the check before it's rolled, so you can see if I do that. Oh, I don't it. Just all it serves to do is remind Riley of the fact that she's hungry and I've ruined things. I'm really hungry. Let me I'm going to use I for clues and say that the drain has a mechanism that's got a bigger area for me to hit and it looks like if I can hit right in that spot it'll break it and the door will come open just enough to drain the acid. I love it.

Speaker 1:

Go for it, brah Brah, brah, brah 12.

Speaker 2:

Oh, wow, you know, these are all the good roles we're going to get, and then we're just going to be terribly, terribly lost. Well, the acid pool got me spooked. That's a rough, that's a rough demise. We follow that thing.

Speaker 1:

OK, give you a plus two to your check.

Speaker 2:

OK, I'm going to take a shot with my bone arrow 7. I do not do it, unfortunately. I see, maybe I can take a shot with my oh, what do we got? What do we got? We got some darts, it's.

Speaker 1:

Your arrow plunks into the acid and sizzles into nothing. Oof, oof.

Speaker 2:

I say, you know, this is reminds me of those times at the bar. Let me see if I can hit it with this dart real quick, because that's what darts are. It's completely different than that. That's an 11. Nice Straight wrist Straight wrist.

Speaker 1:

Alright, the dart hits the drainage button.

Speaker 2:

Yeah it looks just like a big target sign. It looks just like a big target sign. It looks just like a big target sign.

Speaker 1:

And all of the acid starts draining into the grate.

Speaker 2:

It's amazing because we see, you don't see a lot of skeletons or anything because that was eaten by the acid, but you see, like suits of armor, I go and I kind of touch them and they just immediately crumble, having been eaten by the acid. But one thing I do notice is little teeth gold teeth, silver teeth, from different people who have fallen through the place. Just like oh my god yeah.

Speaker 1:

Your feet are actually kind of smoking a little bit as you go across.

Speaker 2:

It's like hurrying across smoking feet. It's like a Looney Tunes cartoon, right, I love it.

Speaker 1:

Alright, you overcame the acid pool. I have nothing to show for it, unfortunately, but your lives are intact.

Speaker 2:

Alright, let me search it up for the next few days. Search it, cameron. Oh boy, oh boy, this is too quick. Double one it's going to be a long quest, baby.

Speaker 1:

Let there be peril. Fortunately you can't have negative keys, that's true. Yeah, roll a D6 and a D100.

Speaker 2:

A little known fact there when you go negative in keys, it actually rolls back 999 keys. So we got a lot of keys. That's a lot of treasure and a lot of crazy yearning. That's a 3 and a 33. Triple 3. It's a lot of 3s. Doth the land of Eam. Random generators. Yeah, smile upon us.

Speaker 1:

Okay, you exit this chamber and then you see a spiraling staircase that's going downward.

Speaker 2:

This is definitely the direction we want to go. Okay, can we inspect for traps? I have a terrible feeling this is going to turn into a slide or something. Oh, it's a good idea.

Speaker 1:

I would say either make a search or a tinker check, if you want to, is that in the spirit of things. Is that okay yeah?

Speaker 2:

I got a plus one tinker.

Speaker 1:

You want to turn it around.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, hold on, gail. Let me take a look at this. Let me examine these stairs and make sure there's no trick mechanisms or anything Crazy yearning is this wild stuff? Yeah, 12.

Speaker 1:

All right, you can tell that you put pressure on it a little bit and it's very creaky, and it also seems like this is a prime staircase to turn into a slide. To be fair, I did not look at the book, it's just like my classic. It's a crazy yearning classic. It's almost like a. Scooby-doo trap I've seen it a hundred times.

Speaker 2:

You can tell the stairs kind of like a little bit of a trap.

Speaker 1:

You can tell the stairs already want to go this way.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, okay. The question is do we trigger the trap and do I use my slip and slide championship proficiency because I'm jack of all trades or do we try to dismantle the trap? Gailen, what do you think? Maybe we could use something to lock the lever mechanism. It's probably like a centralized thing, so all the stairs tip at the same time. So I wonder if we can jam up the works somehow. You got a 12 on your tinker check. Maybe you're able to see something, and then we could gum it up.

Speaker 1:

Riley, with your great tinkering you can tell that the trap probably triggers in the middle of the staircase, Like the middle of its length.

Speaker 2:

I wonder if I could use the unbreakable net and lower you down to the middle of the staircase, Like you know, like you can hold on to it and I'll anchor up here so you can get part way down. If it's impossible, you're going to lower me down. Dispensable trap. We got a sturdy net. We're going to as well put it to use. Okay, I'm down. Can I add? Is that the same reason?

Speaker 1:

we'll bend. You probably have to tie rope to the net To get that far down.

Speaker 2:

Wait, let me ask you this. Yeah, I don't have rope. Ben Costa, master of games. Master of games, could we potentially just go over the trigger step? Could we avoid the trigger step and use the staircase? No, of course not. Smithers, bring me another 視 clip.

Speaker 1:

You have a question, can I? You know, it's not just one step, you can tell.

Speaker 2:

A whole swath of the middle Got it. Okay, what kind of mundane item do we have George?

Speaker 1:

I don't have any list of stuff.

Speaker 2:

We have a blow gun, we have a string, we have a hook, we have a falcon, and that's actually the only, that's all we have, I mean the lucky rucksack, well-crafted lock, stridding, that quick, short sword which I think you took, I did. I've got an idea of the Warhammer, like maybe we can over-trip the trap to the point where we hit a trigger so heavy that Like it can't reset or something, and it can't reset that, it can't like go off because it's meant to be like triggered, like that, but we like smash it in and we screw up the whole thing.

Speaker 2:

Okay, that would do it. How do you propose we get down to that step, though? That's a good question. How about this, ben? I mean, I could. I am a jack of all trades, I am an expert rock climber. I could climb the bricks or the walls and try to see if I can get down there. Yeah, with your new nimbleness check, with my new nimbleness check, I'll check my improved nimbleness. I limber up, you know.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I say let's go for that, and I have a backup plan if it all you know goes to heck in a hand basket. I'm sorry, hatch, hatch, yeah hatch. All right, roll it up.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so I'm going to roll advantage for climbing, roll it, roll it, roll it, roll it, roll it.

Speaker 2:

Nice, I take that nine. It's a ten right Total.

Speaker 1:

A ten total. I'm going to do Shinny into position. Shinny, I used to say shimmy, but in Rickety Stitch Book 3 got copy edited into Shinny. That's really.

Speaker 2:

Shinny is still a great word. I like the idea of doing a shimmy. I've never heard of it called shinnying.

Speaker 1:

I've only heard of shimmying. Neither have I but the editor is more like a little Shinny is a thing, I guess. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Wow, that's amazing. This editor knew one thing I mean they explain it to me 25 times. I still didn't understand it. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

I refuse, so to stay. Oh, my God, I mean it's like a yeah, okay, a copy of editors that does this. Yeah At the copyright, at the copyright. There's many Amazing All right, so you're in position.

Speaker 2:

You're in position, I'm in position, all right, so I'm going to drop the Warhammer from the top.

Speaker 1:

And kind of see what happens.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and like see if it'll screw up the trap or set it off. And then, if it does set it off, we'll just have to figure out a way to safely go down, because this is a tough one. I can't help but think that there's like a meat grinder at the bottom of the stairs. We're going to fly through it. Spike pit, make an attack All right, I'm going to make an attack. All right, that's reasonable.

Speaker 1:

Seven.

Speaker 2:

Seven Respectable Okay.

Speaker 1:

You succeed at triggering the trap, but what happens?

Speaker 2:

Oh, I mean, I guess we could lose the Warhammer. But I missed it a bit. Yeah, ch obs concerts Figures up to George, to the step that George is on, and so like the top half, but I could recover farther down. Does that the idea?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, All right, galen, you go sliding.

Speaker 2:

Galen.

Speaker 1:

Waiting to see what happens at the top.

Speaker 2:

He's still. He found more soil and he's just rooted in. It's like, yeah, I'm not going to follow this one. I can actually use lend a hand to Roll advantage, to attempt to catch someone's fall, pull them from danger or anything like that. Okay, so I'm gonna reach out like from the wall and try to lend you a hand.

Speaker 1:

Lend that hand. In seven seven, all right. This would be like a nimbleness check. So eight, eight, all right, and I'll use a you. You want to use a quest point? I was gonna use a quest point, yeah, cool, okay, you grab Galen's hand just before he falls in.

Speaker 2:

Gotcha buddy, I look up and I say I'm sorry about the rations. Yeah, I say I'm so hungry I don't think I hold on. But I'm kidding with him. And then we both go tumbling down Into the wood chipper.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, galen, you can, you know, kind of like Get on to the the other side, yeah, which is intact and being held by the lodged Warhammer Zona in box, casually slides down and like does a Super Mario jump onto the other side?

Speaker 2:

Showing his thus that his neck is vastly superior to ours.

Speaker 1:

Yeah he actually.

Speaker 2:

Right, super performing high school athlete before he joined us. But he only wants to write, so he wants to. I'm a chronic player amazing, so I think I rolled that search. So, ben, was there anything like a wood chipper or like a pit full of spikes to the bottom we were able to avoid.

Speaker 1:

There is a pit and it looks like it's a prison cell.

Speaker 2:

Oh, Okay, that's Okay. Time for a Ben bars lift case check.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think you say it's my turn. I'm supposed to search.

Speaker 2:

It's your turn. Yeah, all right, rolling a d12 Three. Is that enough to? I was just a hazard not getting any keys guys are having a rough day. Yeah, yeah, you know, we used up all our luck in that mega horde.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, the price you pay man yeah.

Speaker 2:

Could have found crazier items. Yeah, what if?

Speaker 1:

you never get out of here.

Speaker 2:

Like five stream episodes Can't get out. We just keep spending keys on we start to form our own like internal apocalyptic society that all just exists inside this one mansion. Yeah, seven months go by on the outside. This our path. We have completely conquered the mucklins. Wow, that'd be amazing, terrible alright, d6, d100,.

Speaker 1:

you know the drill. Yeah, I do. All right, here we go one.

Speaker 2:

Wow, I mean yeah you know, it's like a good place to roll a one and the one hundred 54.

Speaker 1:

You come across a slow babbling flow of lava that divide the room easily 15 feet wide.

Speaker 2:

Easily. Okay, it's only 15 feet. I could probably throw you across With a feat of strength or something. No, just yeah, we'll see what happens Right into the lava. Meets back on the menu. So 15 foot across lava. I wonder how Ben how large is this? Sturdy net lengthwise that we own.

Speaker 1:

Like any net that you see in a movie that like it's not like a cargo net, it's like a gladiator net. Yeah, that's more like sick okay.

Speaker 2:

Just for my frame of reference gladiator net. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

I glad he made a dream of lava how to get across this?

Speaker 2:

Can I roll for disbelief and just disbelieve the lava set of things? What are you playing?

Speaker 1:

like second ed D&D here it doesn't exist.

Speaker 2:

I don't believe it. Everything is an illusion. I don't believe it.

Speaker 1:

Everything is an illusion, yeah walk through.

Speaker 2:

I'm barbarian. I don't believe in magic. I fear magic. Yeah, I Could use a quest point and roll the string again. Yeah, I could do the same I could. They could Use I for clues again. I have an idea, for yeah, actually I'm gonna do that. I'm going to use a quest point and use I for clues again and identify that there's three, you know, pretty big stones that if we Roll them into the lava, we'd be able to create some stepping stones for ourselves, to at least make some shorter leaps across. Yeah, go for it. Remind me to upgrade my search. Oh no, oh, that's bad, that's a one I do not succeed. All right, I Do find a rock one.

Speaker 2:

My total is a one.

Speaker 1:

I wonder if you see, you see the rocks and they just like sink into the lava. Well, just not gonna make it more painful.

Speaker 2:

Oh, it works, we get all three in there. I mean, in fact, I wonder if the lava stream didn't rise a little bit and get wider, 17 feet wide.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

But it's a failure with a plus right One.

Speaker 2:

No, no this is just because this is a discerning eye check. That's right, it wasn't a. Okay, yeah, fortunately, all right, let me think, let me think, let me think. Feet of strength, what's the? What's the mouth of the Lava stream? Look like like what's coming out of a wall, I imagine, because these are all like random crazy rooms. He has Mm-hmm. So you're like a slew escape, or is there like, how does it? How does it look? You describe the Entry and exit holes of the magma, for us looks like a rocky, like a low rocky cave.

Speaker 2:

Okay, is it like flowing in one direction?

Speaker 1:

like I would assume so.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, I think I might feed of strength to To maybe like damage the mouth in such a manner that it cuts off the lava stream. Maybe I can do. We still have that Warhammer. I Imagine we were able to know we lost it, okay, so let me at least strike that through. I throw a dart. He just right. Yeah, it's out of. Yeah, so I'll feed of strength it with a pod slamer.

Speaker 2:

Wow, just hurl a pog slammer. Don't Google a pog slam, I'm gonna spell it the wrong way. I'm just gonna punch it with my meaty frog fist. Hmm, is that? Is that not? I Feel like that's a limited outcome. Yeah. Yeah, so it's a feed of strength, but you're not like the Incredible Hulk. Yeah, I mean, I would love for myself to be Incredible Hulk. I'm already green. I'm just trying to think I don't really have anything that's weighty enough.

Speaker 2:

I do have, it's not. I have an ingot of Dwimmer steel and I've got a golden gator gem.

Speaker 1:

You could just spend like a few hours or days, you know, hammering some Dwimmer steel with this lava.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we're both sweating and quenching with the last of our water. Finally, I made it a single hammer.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, alright, and let's, let's see you do have tons of materials, that's true. I mean, this is like yeah, can you? It's a ridgels idea, but maybe it's not so you cobble something together.

Speaker 2:

I could Cobble a quick hit or something. Wait, did I have a pic? I have a war pick, I'm sorry. Oh Well, use that. Well, you can use that.

Speaker 1:

Oh, I said war pig Like the song.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that would have been an amazing discovery. Well, we would have had bacon at this point, right, yeah, because we're both hungry. I'll use the war pick.

Speaker 2:

Uh, that's perfect I in my mighty Feet of strength. So I kind of wind up, I like lean out a little bit over the lava and wind up and let's see how hard I could hit this sucker. Is it plus three? Please be plus three, might, as plus two, six, um, uh feet of swell. I can. I'll do lend of hand and roll it again for him, like oh no, you got to hit it over here.

Speaker 1:

Oh Well, I mean he succeeds with the toe. Oh, I Am just saying, yeah, risk failing. I don't know your strength.

Speaker 2:

That is true, you could totally might, is it? I Don't know. Yeah, I think we could. Maybe maybe we'll succeed with a twist, and the twist is that you know it collapses the stream, so it's significantly more narrow, but we still have to make a check it across. Yeah, I think that's the safest way to do it. I Well, I still gotta make a Nimblance check, even on plus one now. I'm still terrified of it. Yeah, it's okay.

Speaker 1:

I mean lava is not forgiving.

Speaker 2:

Can I end up like Dar, the Beast master, you know, eaten by lava, not from the films, the films.

Speaker 1:

Is that like canon death and like other media, like expanded universe?

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, George and I were playing Conan exiles, and one of our one of our NPCs was named Dar the Beast master.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, he was called into lava.

Speaker 2:

He was with us a long time, but he didn't make it anyway. Yeah, yeah, all right. So let's both make them to be nimble Nuss checks.

Speaker 1:

Well, little known fact. Hmm, Beast master takes place within the land of E.

Speaker 2:

Wow, oh be helpful to have a Mark Singer a.

Speaker 1:

Mark.

Speaker 2:

Singer level. Hero of that caliber to help us leap over this lava, if you, if you say that he says he doesn't make it. Wow, they say, if you look up in the sky, you can see his Falcon watching you. Yes, scar Galen winds up his mighty frog legs and attempts to make the jump.

Speaker 1:

Boing.

Speaker 2:

Oh, god bless, that's not good. Gosh three, baby, he's limp, he's limp. I will suffer the consequences of his Wait. Don't you want to just lend a hand? Wouldn't lend a hand be a better idea? I use another. I'm sorry, I used to use the consequences, but the consequences would be in certain depth. Yeah, I use one more quest point. I'm down to two. I have to lend a hand to roll advantage to catch him. Oh boy, that's what's your toes? I, I take the five, but I use a quest point to make it a six. Oh, God.

Speaker 1:

Well, I mean, what's your, your total Like? What is this? A nimbleness, or catch him.

Speaker 2:

Or is it? Maybe it might? Yeah, it's, it's five. I'm only plus zero. Ok, so I do use a quest point to make it a six. So I'm down to one quest point. It's like I've used a lot of quest points in this one encounter. Yeah, it's all right. It's all right. This is the first time I've ever been down to one quest point.

Speaker 1:

Is this a success or the twist?

Speaker 2:

Yeah. So what's the twist? You saved me. I'm still on the same side.

Speaker 1:

Well, I mean, that's I would have to happen, you know, no, no, no.

Speaker 2:

I mean I go ahead. The twist is the momentum. I have to make the jump like right away. But it's oh sure, wow, ok.

Speaker 1:

All right, all right.

Speaker 2:

Right, you know, can I? I'm an inspiring, I'm going to do inspiring orders and when Riley grabbed me, I give like we grabbed in, like a hero tug form and like that gives Riley inspiration. It works, it works, oh my God.

Speaker 1:

OK, that's a two tier check.

Speaker 2:

That might All right, here we go, here we go yeah. Oh, no Plus two Plus two Four, it's not good Even with the four, even with the quest point, it's only five.

Speaker 1:

Well, that's a failure with a plus.

Speaker 2:

It's just getting flashbacks to that scene in Star Wars episode three.

Speaker 1:

The plus is you fall in but.

Speaker 2:

Galen doesn't go hungry.

Speaker 1:

Galen could jump across using your body.

Speaker 2:

Whoa, whoa, that's. Oh, my God Lord.

Speaker 1:

You. You fall in, but Galen can pull you out, but you're going to take damage, All right, I use stout heart.

Speaker 2:

Oh man, that's the perfect use for it. Yeah, because stout heart reduces it to one dread. But my tail is going to burn something fierce, Ben, and I'm going to use the sturdy net to fish out Riley.

Speaker 1:

OK, all right, it's indestructible.

Speaker 2:

It cannot be broken. So I would assume yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

It's OK. The plus is that you can easily get her out. Ok, but you're still back on the other side. Riley, you're at one hit point, I guess I'm at one. Courage, courage.

Speaker 2:

I'm sorry and I'm fully Just. In fact, I'm going to linger on that, because who jumped down my throat when I said hit points at the beginning? Oh my God, ok. Galen, in a panic, pulls Riley from the lava, looks down at her and like is shaking her, like, open your eyes, open your eyes. And I'm running around blowing out my tail. Yeah, and.

Speaker 2:

Galen is a little bit teary. I thought he lost his best friend and seeing that Is basically how I'm going to inspire Riley to gain some courage back. So I'm going to use a quest point and heal Riley for one D6 courage if I make this role. Oh nice, oh God, I missed by one. All right, I'm going to use it.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to use another quest point. No, no, no, no, hold on, I knew we've already committed to this.

Speaker 2:

You're already committed to this. This is just a terrible no good. Very, you're going to gain like one D6 back, and it's probably going to be a one, so I have one quest point left. You gain two hit points back. All right, that's something, though. Courage, courage, yeah God, what game were you even playing anymore? I have three of 14 courage, so I'm feeling a little bit of dread. We've been lost in crazy earnings Marshgate mansion. For a long time. The traps have been kicking our butts. This is Me to take stock. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

You, we have, you've made literally no headway.

Speaker 2:

At all. We've made no headway at all. The only key we had lost it. Oh man, oh God, this is awesome. I feel peril. Yeah, no, seriously, the adventures of Riley and Galen are in. We're in a dangerous situation. Boy who searches it. Now I don't even want to. Well, we still haven't gotten over the. Wait have we got it.

Speaker 1:

No, no, yeah, not got it. You're still expecting. That's the thing we haven't.

Speaker 2:

We have not gotten over it. We haven't overcome this like the single leap required. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

There was no time like the present.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's kind of just leap again.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

All right, and were we? Were we getting any bonuses because it's in more narrow lava flow now, or is it just that we the fact that we can leap across it?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's just possible now Okay.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you know, feeling pretty nimble, I think I'm going to leap across from lava. Hey, hey, how wide is the lava been?

Speaker 1:

Let's say, you know 10 feet.

Speaker 2:

Because I'm wondering if, like I could have left across and Riley could have held on to a rope when I left.

Speaker 1:

I mean what it could have. Should have meant what it could have, should have.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's that's, I mean, I respected, I respect it. Oh man, this whole time we're just like sweating bullets, like trying to figure this out, and Zona in buck just like jumps across. We don't even see it happen. Zona in buck is somehow just on the other side. It's just on the other side just waiting. Yeah, okay, the end of our heroes. I stand poised on the other side with a sturdy net ready to cap Riley like man. Catch Riley out of the air.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

I'm I'm going to make my leap now.

Speaker 1:

All right, get plus one with Galen on the other side 8, 9. Nice, nice Made it.

Speaker 2:

All right, guys, it's been a hell of a quest.

Speaker 1:

Well, you accomplished nothing, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, encountered nothing except for traps. Do I mean we should do one more room? Oh, no, no, absolutely. I was just being facetious. That's fine. This is this. Let me. Let me roll up a search check. I feel good. So, for those of you that are just joining us, we're doing an actual play of the land of the adventurers of myself, riley, and we're searching for a lost inventor named crazy Ernie in this, in the marsh gate manner, which is filled with traps, and we're doing search checks to randomly generate the dungeon. And we're doing search checks to randomly generate the dungeon and we've just accomplished our third check in a row, at a, at a roll of one, which means that anybody tuning in now is probably going to watch our demise. Yeah, it's okay, it's. Might be, it might not be, a traffic, might be a riddle. Great, great, great. So you come to a door that's in the shape of a grotesque goblin mouth Delicious.

Speaker 1:

And it's like locked by its iron teeth. Looks like the entrance to Crogland. Yeah, it's like more menacing, if that's possible. Oh yeah, it's not. It's not open. It's like these are the teeth and they're locked in it. When you get close to it, it says I sometimes slip even though I'm held. If you're smart, you'll use me. Well, what am I?

Speaker 2:

I sometimes slip, even though I'm held. What was the rest of it? If I'm, if I'm smart, if you're smart, you'll use me well. Was that what it is? Yes, what slips, even when it's held. I feel like it's time. I always like say it was about every, every riddle is time or water. It's held. Is it a tongue? Yes, it opens Nice.

Speaker 1:

Yes, and like this long red carpet, tongue unfurls. That's amazing.

Speaker 2:

There's, like you see, like little streamers pop, but they're really. You've waited and you hear like you hear just a quack. I don't say anything but like Riley's feeling kind of full of herself after this and she looks again and she's like come on, it's this way. I turned back to Zoe Zoni and Buck and I give him like a look like in the office, like Cut away, cut away to. Jim, yeah, zoni, and Buck doesn't write anything, he just draws my face in the book Jim. Dundukul. All right, okay, it's Riley's turn.

Speaker 2:

Your first success, oh boy, well, I mean, it wasn't as success, we just didn't get hurt. Yeah right, I'm considering those successes now All right, here we go. Search check.

Speaker 1:

Oh. God really I mean two man.

Speaker 2:

this is twice as good as last time. 200% better than our previous role 100% better. I'm not a mathematician Like Vera.

Speaker 1:

If there were negative keys, you'd be at negative three keys.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, this is incredible. I mean, I'm actually glad that we haven't gained anything D6, D100.

Speaker 1:

Two 81.

Speaker 2:

Wow, if we get a key in the next room, we should just spend it immediately on trying to find something that will heal us, just like find the kitchen. Just find an exit. Yeah, just leave. No, no, we're not giving up. They haven't beat us yet. If you find like a garden outside. We just like flop into the grass. Oh my God, all right, let's try that again.

Speaker 1:

Okay, you see huge lumber pillars that are driven into a pit and they've got like the saucer size tops that are positioned three feet apart from one another, so it looks like you'll need to jump to get to the other side.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so I have one quest point left. So lumber pillar saucer on top Probably unsteady Jump to the other side. How many do we have to cross?

Speaker 1:

Three of them. You'll have to make three jumps.

Speaker 2:

And what's at the bottom of the pit?

Speaker 1:

Darkness Certain doom.

Speaker 2:

I'm going to use jack of all trades to give myself another proficiency. Nice, because I can do several, actually twice, per session. Name a specific activity or facility. Back home I was a hopscotch champion Classic, just like goo. All right, I'm going to jump, all right. I mean, at least you had a bit like saw.

Speaker 1:

Eight Eight, why is it eight Plus one? Oh sorry.

Speaker 2:

I could use a quest point.

Speaker 1:

You. So once you jump to the first one, you see that you get there, but it kind of gets forward. Yeah, teeters, and you'll need to jump immediately, but you're at minus one.

Speaker 2:

Okay, okay.

Speaker 1:

Here we go.

Speaker 2:

It's still advantage, though, right, because I'm hopscotch champion. Yeah, nice, nine, nine, nine, okay.

Speaker 1:

You make it to the other side and you're like steady and you can wait. If you want, I will wait Like you're steady on the next pillar. Sorry, oh.

Speaker 2:

Well, maybe I'll wait, and so that I'm out there and can grab George if something goes wrong. When something goes wrong is what you're saying. When something goes wrong Frog legs, don't fail me. Now they're going to it's nimbleness banner athletics. I'll let you choose Dark Harper's frog legs. Oh God, I wish that was the way it was, but it's not. It's not. I didn't type it right. I'm sorry.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to pull it fast.

Speaker 2:

Holy cats hey.

Speaker 1:

I mean, it's Wow yeah.

Speaker 2:

That'll do it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, cool, so you, you make it. You'll get a plus one on your attempt, but given that Riley is there, it's probably best to wait.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, go ahead, riley. Okay, oh, wow, thank God you rolled that. Thanks, 12. Oh boy, that would have been rough.

Speaker 1:

Okay, riley, you make it to the other side and you're safe.

Speaker 2:

Come on, galen you can do it. That's the sound you hear from Galen, just like a low growl. You know what, ben? Can I use a quest point, roll feet of strength, and basically I want the feet of strength to be that I can skip over to the last one because I jumped so high If I actually make the check. Does that make sense? Sure, I can skip a nimbleness check. You know what, though? It's athletics, I don't know. I'm going to have to make two rolls regardless. I'll save the quest point, forget it. I'm just doing the math in my head. That's four. Wouldn't have mattered either way.

Speaker 1:

Okay, failure with the plus, you jump Maybe you slip and you grab the teetering disc or whatever it is like the platform, you have one chance not to fall.

Speaker 2:

If you had one shot. What kind of check am I making? Might At a minus? No, just a might. Okay.

Speaker 1:

Okay, you fall. No, it was no.

Speaker 2:

It's endless Actually. In fact, I keep falling and then I look down and I see below me the same scene I just fell from and I'm falling in an endless loop. That's so much more horrifying than I could have ever meant. I'm trying to think of a plus here.

Speaker 1:

You're definitely falling to the ground.

Speaker 2:

Falling in an endless loop would be a plus, because maybe Riley could pull me out from it If I'm falling to the ground. The plus would be that there's no spikes, I imagine. Okay, yeah.

Speaker 1:

You take four dred, four dred, do you hit the ground?

Speaker 2:

I love it. I'm going to haul her down like Galen. Can you hear me? Let me make a perception check At disadvantage my hearing loss penalty. However many episodes you go, I'm going to go with the worst one. Oh wow, they're both really good. That's when the good roles happen. What the heck? I perfectly hear you and I reply. I say yeah, I'm alive down here, it's just dirt.

Speaker 1:

It's really dark. You could climb up these pillars. Yeah, tell me where you're going to do. I'm going to shout down.

Speaker 2:

Do you see any exits? Can I feel around? I don't have anything that would light. I still have a fire stick. Use the little lizard like a lighter. Is that possible? I wasn't meant for this level of output. Is that a thing, Ben? Can I use that to kind of like flare and look around? I'll make a search check, perhaps See if I can see a way out. Hey, Elijah. Hey.

Speaker 1:

Elijah.

Speaker 2:

I'm late saying hello.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean. What the fire does for you is make you not you know out in the pitch black darkness. It looks like there's no way out of this pit down here.

Speaker 2:

You'll have to climb up, at least I know. Let me try to climb. That is athletics, I imagine. Let's do it. Let's just do this, let's get this done, because positive mental attitude it's a six. I slip back down and get splinters in my hands.

Speaker 1:

No, Successful twist. You make it up there, but at a cost. What you drop something. Did you wake something up down there? Let's just go with that. I like that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, actually I was going to say I liked the ladder. I scramble up and then I make a ton of noise when I'm clambering up and I'm yelling up to Riley like Riley, hold out of light, I can't see where I'm going and all that racket. I finally get to the top and I lay back on the other side and then I hear something else climbing behind me and I'm like wait, what's that sound?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, do you want to deal with that now or start running?

Speaker 2:

You should run. We have no courage. Yeah, Elijah, we're still looking for Ernie. We've made zero progress this whole. Elijah this has been harrowing a dungeon where we've just been doing our best, they've made no progress.

Speaker 1:

They've encountered several traps and puzzles, but made no headway in Tracking Town Ernie, unfortunately.

Speaker 2:

We had made progress, all of our anti-progress would have taken it away, because we just kept like one after one after one, for all of our search checks, we got one key and traps riddles lava.

Speaker 1:

Now some creeping horror is rising through this pit and we got to get out of here.

Speaker 2:

What do we get? So what do we hear?

Speaker 1:

behind me, ben, we're running, you don't know.

Speaker 2:

Well, yeah, should we run and try to get into the next room or like, and then roll a search, check and see what happens and then see what's going to follow us into the next trap room? Unless you think whatever's climbing up isn't a threat, that's unlikely. That's a gamble, though, considering our roles, well, I'm wondering if we can't just like is it climbing the wall, ben, or does it sound like it's climbing the wood?

Speaker 1:

Oh boy, what's happening? It's climbing the walls.

Speaker 2:

Okay, then we can't knock anything over onto it. We should run. I thought we'd run, yeah, we'd run. No, I know exactly what to do. But we're going to lose the well crafted lock. Like we'll get through the door and like lock it. That's not a bad idea. I mean, it's far superior than dealing with, like, whatever horror is behind us. Whatever horror. Yeah right, let's use the well crafted lock and just give it up. Run and slam the door. Yeah, get out of here. Padlock it in a superior manner.

Speaker 1:

Okay. As you're closing the door and stopping to do this, you glimpse an ink pot spider like crawling over the ledge.

Speaker 2:

Oh my gosh, I don't know enough about an ink pot spider to be terrified or not.

Speaker 1:

It's not good, take the GM head off.

Speaker 2:

If you want to live, you gotta get out of here. Under a statement of the week. Is ink pot spider bad? Yeah, not always, I assume, but in the scenario where there's a giant spider and a mansion filled with death threats.

Speaker 1:

It is not ideal.

Speaker 2:

What we don't see is his like other ink pot spider friend coming up but carrying like a tray of refreshments yeah, he's like close the door. Close the door. I wonder what they're up to you want to agree. Oh yeah, we had some lemonade, but you know we can't see one of you. It's too bad.

Speaker 1:

So where are you folks?

Speaker 2:

I'm down to keep you because I feel like nothing has been achieved in a way, yeah, I would do one more room, one more room and see where we get. Maybe if we get a key, we can get to a nice stopping place and protect ourselves.

Speaker 1:

Well, I was actually saying like more than one room.

Speaker 2:

This is on a room by room basis.

Speaker 1:

Some of these rooms are like a minute.

Speaker 2:

Some of these rooms are like the rest of our life, which could be very short, by the way, it's also a minute. Yeah, you're searching, george.

Speaker 1:

Nice.

Speaker 2:

We immediately spend the two keys on something Really.

Speaker 1:

No, I mean, we can spend the dungeon key.

Speaker 2:

I got to look back up because we can spend it to find beneficial things Right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Random dungeon. What page is that? That is spending keys. Find a helpful item Okay. One key is at helpful NPC. Two keys Okay is oh, or a helpful item, two keys is find a loot pile. I wanna find a loot pile bin. I don't know that.

Speaker 1:

You've already like spent the thing on a horde, so there are no more hordes.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, I think that an NPC, a helpful NPC or helpful item, would be the best. Let's just tune NPC because we can grow our party again. Wait, how do you feel about that, James? I'm cool with that. Finding a helpful NPC, yeah, I think that would be amazing. Even a loot pile, because unless we could goose it to be like food you know we can't find any more loot, piles or hordes, yeah, but we could find a helpful item or a helpful NPC or both, if we spend both of our keys.

Speaker 2:

This is like a matter of survival at this point. Yeah right. We gotta like get into a better spot when we I think a helpful. Npc might be the best. Let's do it. Let's do it. Do you wanna roll randomly, Ben, or do you have something in mind?

Speaker 1:

Roll five, do you 100?

Speaker 2:

Random NPCs. I love it 29, 10, 48, 67, 31. What a winning hand.

Speaker 1:

Gale, gale Sorry.

Speaker 2:

Rebaldo, gale, rebaldo, gale, rebaldo. I already am in love with this Bagral.

Speaker 1:

Medicine Maker.

Speaker 2:

Whoa.

Speaker 1:

Okay, we can work with this. That's sweating profusely, oh no.

Speaker 2:

He's like I gotta get out of here. He's found someone else who's been trapped for five days.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

He's sweating profusely. The helpful NPC is just as lost.

Speaker 1:

Hey.

Speaker 2:

It's a.

Speaker 1:

Bacro woman.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we immediately drop swords and say, oh, like we're beating battered adventurers, like who are you, what are your intentions?

Speaker 1:

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, don't kill me, don't kill me.

Speaker 2:

Don't kill us, don't kill us.

Speaker 1:

I won't kill you.

Speaker 2:

We won't kill you. I'm lost, we've been trapped in here for two days ourselves.

Speaker 1:

I've got you beat. Been trapped in here a week. I ran in here with all the Muckmen, oh yeah.

Speaker 2:

Trying to get the safety. Now we took care of those guys.

Speaker 1:

Well, that's great, but I'm at wit's end here. Yeah, so are we.

Speaker 2:

Maybe we should work with each other to try to find a way out of here. We're actually trying to find crazy Ernie. Oh, Wait, wait. How have you survived a week with no food or water? You couldn't have been prepared when you came in.

Speaker 1:

Healing potions Got a thousand of them. Yeah, it's about to my last two.

Speaker 2:

We killed her Last two. We're taking care of her, down to your last two. Say, would you consider, I don't know, maybe trading for one of those? We haven't eaten for two days. Correction, I look at Gailen. I haven't eaten for two days. Yeah, it's only been one for me, I'm fine.

Speaker 1:

Look, I'm feeling all right right now. Well, I'm honestly kind of nervous. Been sipping on this one a little bit.

Speaker 2:

So whoopee. It's like yeah, there's saliva dripping on the side of it. She hasn't been sipping on this? Oh, I don't mind that it's like suckling like a bottle.

Speaker 1:

Look, just take this one.

Speaker 2:

Do you want to split it, george? Yeah, yeah, yeah, go ahead. I take the raggedy stuffed animal that I have and kind of like dab at Gail's forehead. It's all I have to like wipe off the sweat. Sorry you're in such a bad situation. Yeah, do you want to? Oh? You're talking to me. Oh, thank you. I was like well, well I was just like, yeah, like if we can find Crazy Ernie in here, we can work together find Crazy Ernie. He could shut down all these traps or at least get us out.

Speaker 1:

Is that how it works?

Speaker 2:

He is the trap master.

Speaker 1:

Look, I heard some weird things. At one point a few days ago I heard some screaming someone saying help, help.

Speaker 2:

Did it sound? Wait, so it was close. Were you in this room? Was it close enough for you to hear, or where were you?

Speaker 1:

I was walking through a corridor and I just I felt like I heard that through the walls.

Speaker 2:

I say well, maybe you can take us back to that corridor and we can try to find a different way, because what we just came from I mean Inkpot spiders, tea cup saucers on lumber pillars and all this other stuff maybe we should go back the way you came and we can find a different path.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I mean, I've gotten sort of turned around, you know.

Speaker 2:

Let's resolve the healing potion real quick. The jams are going to split.

Speaker 1:

So normally a courage potion gives you 1d12 courage.

Speaker 2:

Roll a d6 each, sure, or you want to roll it Probably, actually it's probably. Yeah, oh, okay, that's pretty good. That's pretty good. Right there, that's also a 3. Sum it 5 out of 16. I like it. I like it a lot. I say Gale, I don't remember what my courage was.

Speaker 1:

Hey, if you have any Duhagenberry, I can other potion Two also.

Speaker 2:

Did you look at our character sheets?

Speaker 1:

No, I have Grail tick mucus, but I just ran out of Duhagenberry.

Speaker 2:

I have Duhagenberry.

Speaker 1:

That's amazing.

Speaker 2:

It tastes really good, though. No, I'll give her Duhagenberry, absolutely. I'll say, yeah, we can keep this in the bank. I'll exchange it with her. I'll give it to her, press it off my sheet. I show her some Creepthistle and I say I got some Creepthistle and some Cairn crystals. Anything you can do with those.

Speaker 1:

Some. What was the second thing you said, Cairn crystals?

Speaker 2:

I don't think that's yeah, because Creepthistle silence potion, cairn crystals I don't know what Cairn crystals do. For those of you who are curious, we're looking through the different, like herbs and crafting tables that are in the Beta Rulebook and there's a ton of that. There's a ton of that Page like 90s or so. I don't think there's anything associated with a Cairn crystal at the moment, but I don't think we need a silence potion either. Okay, well, we got another. We got another Courage Potion. That's good. Yep, that is good.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, do you want to use it now? She whips it up.

Speaker 2:

I up to you, riley do you want to split it now or save it? For I was going to say we should save it just now. That sounds good to me. Okay, we could attempt to. Should we camp or should we go in the direction of where the cries for help were coming from? If you guys have time, I'd be willing to do another room if that's where the cries for help or gets us closer to it, because it might be like a time-sensitive thing.

Speaker 1:

This was days ago. Oh well then they're dead.

Speaker 2:

Oh then forget it. Yeah, Inclassifiers got them? Someone else trapped in the Marshgate Manor? Yeah, this is like a terrible clue house. You guys want to do one more room.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm open to multiple rooms.

Speaker 2:

I've got for sure. One more. I don't know, I don't think that I have time. Yeah, okay, let's, let's. Let's roll it up, riley, roll it up. All right, here we go. Gail come with us, and I make an offhand comment to Gail saying our names are almost the same. That must mean something. Five, wow.

Speaker 1:

And you're both Foggerls.

Speaker 2:

We're immediately falling in love, Because you're both Foggerls and your names start with G. I don't know. Gail Gailin, it's a little more.

Speaker 1:

I mean, they're very similar.

Speaker 2:

It's a little more complicated than that, Riley.

Speaker 1:

He's the healer. Don't be a seductionist.

Speaker 2:

You're a night errand yeah.

Speaker 1:

You're very strong, Gailin.

Speaker 2:

I blush and my cheeks become this ruddy mixture of like green and red, which I think just looked brown. Riley rolls her eyes.

Speaker 1:

I don't notice. And you also rolled five, which I rolled five. Just an encounter, not good.

Speaker 2:

Just an encounter, do you have?

Speaker 1:

extra quest point.

Speaker 2:

I do. I have one quest point.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you want to bump that to a six.

Speaker 2:

I will use it. I will use it. Let's get some out of this one, and immediately. We regret not saving this one E6D100, baby. Here we go. Two, as if it's a riddle. I submit time as my answer 73. It's going to be correct the time I don't say it.

Speaker 1:

Is it time? Yeah, yeah, okay, you come up. It's another pool Encountering a lot of liquid. This time it's a deep dark pool. You can't see anything into it. And it's long enough that you'll definitely have to swim across.

Speaker 2:

Oh boy, yeah, it's mostly whether or not something's going to grab us, you can see much from below. You got a grab void, Pete. I say feeling you know what, Forget it, Because I'm trying to impress Gail and I'm a blogger. That's too funny. I immediately say stand back, ladies. Let me swim across this river and see if it's safe.

Speaker 1:

Gailin is now referring to me as a lady, though I have no gender, I'm just.

Speaker 2:

Ladies and thing Riley's, just like gosh, I've seen you like this before. This is so good, never ends well Showing off. I actually like kind of like flex a little bit and I do like a diving motion, like a couple like practice ones, and I gracefully try to dive in and make an athletics check to swim across.

Speaker 1:

Okay, mm, okay, you get down in there in the water, it's so you kind of get there's like a blast of bubbles that goes by you and you kind of get turned around. You're not sure which way is which, and then, as you're submerged, you lock eyes with a Liger shark. Wow, A shark, a Liger shark, so you're still in the middle of this pool and then, a Liger shark.

Speaker 2:

Oh man, that's like my actual real life.

Speaker 1:

number one fear A Liger shark yeah, I know, it's like an actual locking eyes with a shark.

Speaker 2:

It's locking eyes, liger sharks, liger sharks. Oh gosh, tina. Oh, it's the most perfect animal shark ever. I think if I get into a combat, I have a chance. Is it immediately a combat, ben? Is that how it works?

Speaker 1:

It's a conflict and, riley, you see some commotion and swirling in the water.

Speaker 2:

Do you see a fin? I'm going to be like, okay, here we go. I knew we'd get into trouble trying to show off or whatever. Like buckle my sash, put my short sword on my teeth and dive in All right, here we go, parley, or, in this case, wrangle. Yeah, oh, I'm not familiar with the Wrangling rules.

Speaker 1:

Well, it's like dealing with an animal.

Speaker 2:

Okay, oh, use the wilderness skill to wrangle critters and creatures? No, yes.

Speaker 1:

And you generally. You have to have an idea of what you're doing.

Speaker 2:

You can't just say oh man, I have an amazing idea for what I'm doing and I hope it works. I want to use my indestructible net and kind of like you know, toro Toro, like having a bull charge, yes.

Speaker 2:

And catch it and then stand on its back and bring it out of the water and like be riding around the unbreakable net. Is this Cut up? Come on, come on. Come on, we can do it. We can do it. All right, here we go, here we go. Ah, come on, I have a. I think I have a quest point still, because I didn't end up using it on that Kakamimi might check. Right, use it. Yeah, yeah, I use it to make it a stick.

Speaker 1:

I am not the keeper of your quest points. No, no, no, no.

Speaker 2:

I definitely have one quest point left and I'm going to use it to make that a six.

Speaker 1:

To make it a six? All right, you trap it. It's better than a five, yeah, and you're like pulling it out and then bites you through the net.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's the accept.

Speaker 1:

I accept. Please don't knock me out, please don't knock me out.

Speaker 2:

Oh, my God, it's so much damage.

Speaker 1:

Oh, it's attacking against you.

Speaker 2:

Oh God, okay, it's okay, because in a second here I'm going to say, oh my God, that's so much damage anyways. But yeah.

Speaker 1:

Hey no, you have that Hobbark. Yeah, so but okay, oh, right, yeah, I do, you have armor Functions is chain mill armor.

Speaker 2:

So advantage with resist wounds are defied.

Speaker 1:

No, but you get a plus five courage.

Speaker 2:

Oh, additional plus five courage at the beginning of each combat, my Lord. Thank you, ben. Everyone in radius done, isn't it? Yeah, everyone within 10 yards, that's going to save our lives. I'm going to highlight that in my character sheet because it's just there's a lot of words right there. That's good armor. Yeah, that's really good armor.

Speaker 1:

It bites into your Hobbark of mirth. You take four dred.

Speaker 2:

I shrug it off and so that's. I have one temporary hit point and I still have five hit points, so five plus one out of 16. And I realize why they call it the Hobbark of mirth, because as the shark bites into me and I don't feel the pain, I begin to laugh as we rise out of the water on its back, even though it's a.

Speaker 2:

Liger shark and it's like just a fish. You see a subtle like change in it expression is like it doesn't understand how you could have that response. I'm just like laughing and I think I'm going to look so cool All right.

Speaker 1:

So You've pulled this out of the water, but you're like kind of in the throes of wrestling it, I'm imagining.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, it makes sense. So, yeah, we dragged it out of the water, we've captured it and it's homeland. Is that the idea? No, is that not the idea we're going for? I wanted to ride it back like stand on it.

Speaker 1:

But I don't think that's gonna happen. Well, yeah, I think there's gonna be another round of like wrangle.

Speaker 2:

Okay, Can Riley now do a wrangle action? Or is that because we each get one right?

Speaker 1:

If it's a what do you think? I think no Okay.

Speaker 2:

So we've got it. We actually have it on land.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, how do you want to do that? It's like at the edge of the water In a net.

Speaker 2:

Can I, once I get across, can I help him hoist it onto land?

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Amazing, because we're gonna set up camp and we're gonna eat shark. I'm gonna cook it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's like thrashing right now. I mean not for long. I'll say, riley, you'll give a plus one to Galen's, like next check to subdue this thing. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I'm like heave, heave. I get into a good rhythm with Riley's heave, so shall I roll the wilderness Ben. Or is there anything else?

Speaker 1:

I think, make a might check at this point.

Speaker 2:

Okay, same check. Oh God, wow, I'm pulled back in the water. Oh no, as we have just not getting any breaks on these rolls, you don't have a lend a hand Can. I share the load, suffer the consequences of my best chums, failed action, and I fall back in the water with the shark.

Speaker 2:

At least it's still gonna be like that maybe so like I, right as I get up to help, I like pull on it and then slip and fall back into the water. I Knock my head. I'm unconscious, you're drowning. Gail watches and does nothing because she felt like you were competition Jealous of the best friend, alright.

Speaker 1:

So, riley, you would have an action before combat begins, if you want.

Speaker 2:

Um, can I try to clamber out of the water again? Yeah, that's what I do try to get back on the other side with Galen.

Speaker 1:

Okay, make an athletics check. I fail, I get caught in the net. I get caught in the net, not like completely caught, it's just like preventing. Yeah, okay, it's going to attack you.

Speaker 2:

Nice.

Speaker 1:

It gets a plus one. I think against you.

Speaker 2:

Your defense, james defense is plus one, or Riley's, I think.

Speaker 1:

So that is a.

Speaker 2:

What's your helmet? Does your helmet do anything? My helmet gives me plus one trickery. I do have a short sword that makes me always attack first. I don't know how that works, but it's not really. It's like you were yeah, not initiative. So counter attack. I counter attack. Well, it does. 11 dread to you. Oh, my good lord, I am um minus one if I'm within 10 yards of Galen. For the plus five, turn zero. I'm at zero.

Speaker 1:

Galen, you see the jaws of the shark, just like quint.

Speaker 2:

Quint. No, I mean I'd say I go into berserker rage, but I got nothing left to pull from. So I mean I can attack the shark maybe or try it's still. It's still wrapping the net right, but it just managed to get its teeth around Riley.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it got rolled around with Riley Like it could still jump through the like yeah with the net in its mouth.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, god, can I just attempt to subdue it again this round, because that'll at least let me get to Riley. I got like no tricks left. No, I know it's down to, it's just rolled man, it's just rolled. At this point Can it continue to do the wilderness check to subdue, or might, if you want me to just yank it back out again.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it'd be might.

Speaker 2:

Seven is better. Okay, yank it out of the water and it starts like, maybe it starts sliding across. I yank it with such force it starts sliding across towards me. But maybe Riley is dragged out of the water with the net as well. Just like, like, so it gets an attack on me. You know what I mean. Like, but, but Riley was able to like. At least we pulled Riley out from drowning. Oh man.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, I'm gonna say you pull it out, but like on top of you, basically.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, okay, it's, it's gonna attack you.

Speaker 2:

It's gonna bite my head off. Here we go. Yes, suck it. Okay that's a five.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, okay. It misses, but it's. You gotta put a sword right through the. Yeah you have a minus one attack against it because it's like on top of you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's just like snapping at me. It's like hand grenades, I know right, jam it in the mouth and kick it off of me. Can Gail just walk up behind it and pull out a flint like pistol?

Speaker 1:

Gail has like a dagger.

Speaker 2:

Oh no, I say stay back. Stay back, gail. It's too dangerous, gail. No, I'm still trying to act tough, even though Riley is like dead functionally.

Speaker 1:

Do you want to go to the next round?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, let's go to the next round. So would continuing to do like might and wilderness checks to subdue this thing be a thing, or do it? Is it just combat? Now we're no longer able to wrangle it.

Speaker 1:

We got out of the water You're not able to like wrangle it as in like You've already made that check the first time and it was like I see it's kind of gotten to this point. So now it's like it's either you're like bringing this on land to like fill it because it can't get back into the water.

Speaker 2:

Well, we were going to eat it anyway because we're starving. Yeah, no, riley wants to eat it. I'm wondering.

Speaker 1:

If so, I think your options are like you keep pulling it away from the water and like you're still going to be open to attacks properly unless you succeed outright or you can just attack it.

Speaker 2:

Our Liger Shark. This is like a big, meaty creature, like I don't think I'm going to kill it in one round. I think I want to keep pulling it away from the water and just like, if I can pull it maybe for X number of rounds and get it far enough away, it'll just drown. Does that make sense? Well, I figured if you got it away from the water then it would be at a huge disadvantage because it's like heavy and out of its element and you could end it and then we could camp and eat it.

Speaker 1:

But by end of the minute.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, you could defeat it and we could. Yeah, ben, is there any disadvantage? Does it have a disadvantage being out of the water now?

Speaker 1:

I mean it's like right next to you is the problem.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, I want to. Just, you're like wrestling it, you know. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

If you were able to like, pull it can't get to the water and you step back. Then it's like you know.

Speaker 2:

Then we can take care of it. That's kind of what I want to do, like I want to just get it far enough away where I can't just roll back.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think that's.

Speaker 2:

All right, mike, here we go, come on, no, come on, no, here we go, here we go.

Speaker 1:

Okay, failure.

Speaker 2:

This is one good roll.

Speaker 1:

Failure with a plus. Yes, you don't pull it anymore, but it's not rolling back into the water, you're kind of like at a standstill.

Speaker 2:

At a standstill. Am I taking attack? Yes, mmm, it's a clean attack too. This is bad. This is bad. At least Riley's not drowning. Does Riley come back at all?

Speaker 1:

I just rolled because I forgot, so you'll be back in two rounds, I think Okay. Okay, that is 11-dread.

Speaker 2:

Oh, okay, so negative 6, I think Just 0.

Speaker 1:

Just 0.

Speaker 2:

Negative 25.0 out of 16. Ah, this is brutal. It's on land, though, right yeah.

Speaker 1:

So as long as it doesn't originate two rounds, then I wake up.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, oh my god.

Speaker 1:

I think you both wake up and it's gone back into the water.

Speaker 2:

With the net.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. I don't imagine the shark would eat something outside of the water. They feed in water, that's true.

Speaker 2:

I just don't know that it could get back in the water Like is it that smart?

Speaker 1:

It's only just outside the water. It's just like wriggling. Yeah, it's like wriggling.

Speaker 2:

It'll like randomly wriggle in or out, so it's in the water when we wake up. I'm going to attempt to construct a depth charge.

Speaker 1:

So I'm going to impose sort of a house rule on this because technically it's like if you died, if you fall to 0 twice in a session, you're at a chance to be killed, but, like, since we're like in the same scenario, you're in the Marshgate manner. This is going to carry over to next time.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so if we next time, if we fall to 0, we're doomed.

Speaker 1:

We have a chance to die.

Speaker 2:

Haven't I already been at 0 once In Marshgate?

Speaker 1:

No, are you sure I'll have to look at the tapes.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we'll go, we'll roll back the tapes. Okay, cool, that was nice. That was a butt kicker. We would have lost this game. So is Gale on the other side still, or was she able to cross with Zona and Bach, like, while we had?

Speaker 1:

those. Yeah, she was with you. She got back. She's like tending to your wounds when you wake up, galen.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but Riley is just sitting there like a wet rat. Still, she's completely, completely ignored Riley.

Speaker 1:

Zona's like shouldn't you stop that wound, so much blood.

Speaker 2:

What for being a help to MPC, that was, thank God, a healer to jealous of Riley. She can't. She can't get in the way of my love for Galen.

Speaker 1:

And that's all, george, but we're rolling with it Too funny.

Speaker 2:

Wow, what a quest. That was absolutely brutal. We still have one key right, or did we lose that key? No, because we rolled higher than a. We have one key, stanley, one key. We need four more.

Speaker 1:

No, I think you have two keys.

Speaker 2:

No, we used one on the NPC.

Speaker 1:

I know, but you gained two. You spent one, Then you gained another one because James used a quest point.

Speaker 2:

Oh, right, right, we wanted it at least to be. Yeah, you're right, we wanted it to at least have some value, some true value hardware Right.

Speaker 1:

So next time you just need three keys.

Speaker 2:

Or you can use spending keys, just need three. Watch we're going to get like three keys in the first three rooms. Next time it's going to be fine, It'll be fine. I'm sure It'll be fine, of course. But wow.

Speaker 1:

Well, I like how this really illustrates, like how much you're sacrificing going for a mythic horde.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, like we could have been over and done by now, we would have already succeeded.

Speaker 1:

Like.

Speaker 2:

I'm so unhappy that I've lost the net. Well, the net's still down there. If we can get that shark, we have to eat. We have no food, we'll have to charge it next time I'm getting that shark, so wow. Well, that was super fun, guys, I mean. But was it or was it soul-freshing? I had fun with the system, but the outcomes were not ideal. Yeah, I kind of like that kind of gameplay though.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

It really amps it up. It's super fun and Ben is totally right, like going for the six keys really does have a price when you're trying to get through a dungeon, because here we are there is a price. Yeah, session 40.

Speaker 1:

I think George is like pet, I mean even in RPGs or like losing items.

Speaker 2:

Even Elijah says still looking for Ernie. It's like yes we're still looking for Ernie. We'll get him the next time. We'll get him. We'll get him. I'm sure we can do this, but we have no courage, no food. We're lost. We need three entire keys, yes. So anyway, that was great Fun times. Good place to wrap it up too.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and you got a new NPC that's in love with you and we're going to well, we're only with one of us.

Speaker 2:

I mean, let's be real here. Yeah, that is a power struggle for attention. Yeah, cool. Well, thanks everybody for joining us for this session 12 of the Land of Emaqtural Play with the Adventures of Riley and Galen. Special thanks to everybody that supports us on Patreon. That's a really big help, and we share lots of stuff about not only the Land of Emaqtural but also graphic novel projects and other new projects that we're working on, and we will be back next weekend with some yeah.

Speaker 1:

What we're thinking about doing is streaming our regular Land of Emaqtural Extravaganza, so we'll continue this journey in Marshgate Manager find Chris Urney. But we're also talking about maybe doing an evening stream of a Ghostbusters RPG from the 80s oh yeah, yeah, that's like a Halloween special yeah.

Speaker 2:

Ben and I and George have wanted to play this RPG for years, and so we've had time in Halloween to dive in and bust some ghosts.

Speaker 1:

So definitely look out for that when you're not at a Halloween party, yeah.

Speaker 2:

And Halloween is going to be a little weird this year, with everything going on with COVID-19 and the concerns across the globe, we figured it'd be fun to have something going on that feels like in the spirit of the holiday. So join us for that. It should be fun. We'll be posting when exactly. We're going to do it very soon, and until next time.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm going to drop the link to the game first, so hold those faces a bit longer.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, nope, nope, nope, sorry, sorry, I jumped the gun that was just like do I make the face now?

Speaker 1:

Now make the face. Bye, guys, Bye.
