That's where I believe you know human design comes in. Human design is a powerful tool that helps you understand how you're really uniquely wired to make decisions and how your energy is meant to flow, and in today's episode, I'm going to break down what human design is, how it connects you to your intuition, how to help you bring back online your intuition, and then how you can use it to make financial choices that actually feel aligned with who you are. I can't wait to teach you how I overcame my money avoidance and started consistently managing my finances in a really simple way.

Erin Gray:

Erin Gray:

Create financial ease with human design. What is in there in that four part module is going to be much more in depth than what I'm talking about here on the podcast, and it really walks you through. What is human design? What is your, what is type, what is strategy, which is your decision-making skills. That's what we're going to go through in this podcast today how to use it with money and really bringing it all together, and we also include a workbook in there. I've gotten really great reviews with women that have taken the course that have really found a more concrete understanding and a foundation with human design.

Erin Gray:

I think human design there's a lot of people that teach human design but they don't teach you how to actually use it in real life. Things that I really want you to do when you work with me or when you're listening to this podcast is not just understanding human design, but embodying it and using it for you to make empowered financial decisions. So let's talk about how to use your human design authority, which is just another way for decision-making that's the human design language to make aligned financial decisions. So your authority in human design is your built-in decision-making process, right? I think it's how your intuition speaks to you, and I will be the first to say that I am not a diehard human design Like. I don't think it's the end, all be all. I use it as a tool when working with clients and myself and I really use it to help you tap back into your intuition and bring that back online to really start honoring what your intuition is telling you. Right, because your intuition is guiding you toward what is right for you, both financially in your life and every area of your life, like it is the fastest point from A to Z versus the logic and the mind that we've been taught to use. So let's explore how you can apply this to financial decisions. So I'm gonna go over the seven types of authority, which is the decision-making. One of these will apply to you, right? There's seven different types. Like I said, go into my website generate a life well, livecom, click on work with me. Then click on uh, create financial ease with human design, and you can enroll in this free workshop and I me and another colleague, Carmen, and I go through all of the ins and outs of human design like the basic foundation of what you need to know, and it will really help you start to use your intuition when it comes to financial decisions and just business decisions and decisions in your life.

Erin Gray:

So the first decision, or the way to make decisions, is what's called emotional authority, and this represents roughly about 50% of the population. So when I talk about on previous podcast episodes that I have to ride my wave. I have emotional authority so I have to. When I get a yes or a no for something, I still have to ride my wave. So you're going to experience emotional waves, which means that decisions made in the heat of the moment are not great ways to make decisions right, like the high highs. Making decisions on a high high or a low low or in fear they're not going to be correct for you. You really want to get to a place of neutrality and that takes one getting used to understanding what your wave feels like in your body and to working with it so that you actually know how long it takes, based on the decision and what that, what that looks like.

Erin Gray:

So I always recommend giving yourself plenty of time before making big money moves right. Like I uh, from my experience with myself and clients, we emotional authority people. We don't move very fast. I think that's where a lot of buyer's remorse comes in, because if we've ever made a decision on a high but we haven't allowed ourselves the time to ride that low, to then get to neutral, we can sometimes feel regret. So, giving yourself time before making those big decisions whether it's investing, whether in your business or in your personal life, you know big purchases. One of the things that I've realized is the bigger the number, the longer the decision. Like, I've been thinking about buying a new car for probably two years, maybe a year and a half, and I have seen myself go through different cars and if I would have made that decision on that high for a couple of other cars, I probably would already had a car that I wouldn't have been so stoked about because I wouldn't have given myself the time to have that wave. So if you're considering a major financial decision, wait a few days. It could even be weeks or months or, in my case, like buying a house or a big car decision, a year. Right, that's okay. I know we're not taught in the financial world or the business world to slow down our buying process, but I really think that this is really helpful once we start getting in the groove of this and recognizing what is our emotional wave.

Erin Gray:

Like, the next authority or decision-making is sacral authority. So this is going to be for generators and manifesting generators. Only You're going to have a defined sacral and this is going to be all about, like in the now, trusting your gut. Response. Right, it might be a yes or a no. It might be a pull towards or a push away from, but that feeling is going to be your best guide when making financial decisions. You know, if something lights you up and it feels like a yes, then most often it is a yes, right. If it feels heavy, if it feels like you're pushing yourself to do it or shooting yourself and you're getting into your mind, then obviously that's a no.

Erin Gray:

Um, one of the things that I've recognized with this type of authority decision-making is that some of us are so head when I say headstrong like we built up that muscle of making decisions with our heads that that sometimes overrides it. So really just learning how to tap back into your body, really getting clear and feeling what that feels like in your body. Does your energy expand, right, or which is a yes, or does it feel more contracted, like an example might be? You know, if you're thinking about hiring someone, pay attention to how your body is acting. Is it moving towards? Does it feel expansive You're enjoying it or does it feel like hesitation or confusion or a pull away, like really really tapping into what your body is telling you.

Erin Gray:

The next decision-making or authority is called splenic authority and this is trusting, like your instant knowing. This is like the instinct and I know instinct and intuition can sometimes be intertwined, but like this is like in the moment, right then, um, feeling. So your intuition speaks a lot of times very quietly, but in the moment, and I think, a lot of times other people when they're asking us. I don't have splenic authority, but you know, when we're asking people with splenic authority, we want like some reasons why, and they it's not a reason, it's just a felt sense in the body, so really listening to it and acting on it, before your mind starts to get in the way and starts to question it. So if you get an immediate yes or no learning to honor it, I do want to say, with whatever authority you have, really starting to start small.

Erin Gray:

I always say start small, start simply. So don't start trying this out on like a big financial decision, right, like whether I need to change my CPA or invest in this coach. Like start with something so simple as like what you're going to wear today or what you're going to eat for lunch, or are you going to choose this or that for the drink that you're at the coffee shop. Something very small so that, if it's not. You know, as you're learning and bringing the body back online and you're connecting, that you start to build up evidence of like. Oh listen, when I honor my authority, when I tap into my body, look at what happens. When I tap into my intuition, look how it works out for me and when I don't, this is also how it and so it's just smaller. I call them low stakes decisions. And then getting your Like, like riding a bike, riding the bike and then getting to the point where you can take off your training wheels, versus just throwing you on the bike and then hoping for the best.

Erin Gray:

So, paying attention to what your first instinct is when you're reviewing, you know, some type of small financial decision, or when you're, you know, making a decision for, like I said, the coffee shop, something small, just paying attention what you feel like in your body, okay, so ego, or what's also called as heart authority, decision making. So really finding that balance between work and play is so critical, right? I always um with people with this authority and decision-making. I always ask, like, is your heart in it? Right? Because, going back to, we can get so heady with our decisions versus, does this feel good? Does this feel expansive. Does the heart want this? Versus shooting yourself? You know your, your financial decisions, the best ones you know, are going to come from what truly serves you. So, like I said, paying attention to is my heart in it. Is this what feels good for me, not what other people are expecting from you. Really pay attention and this is for all authorities really paying attention Anytime you hear the word should have to, ought to, need to. That is not a decision from your body, that is a head decision. So really starting to become aware of when your mind says that and what decision are you making from that place, versus tapping into your actual authority, your decision making and following that. Okay.

Erin Gray:

So the fifth type of authority is called self-projected authority, and this clarity comes as you talk it out and listen back to yourself. You know it's important to listen without that head getting involved, and I know in the beginning it can feel rather difficult because our heads have been in charge for so long. We've really made a lot of decisions in our life financial decisions, especially from a very head, cerebral place versus listening to our bodies. So try not to dissect your thinking. You know, embracing your voice is fundamental to better decision-making and it's really designed to be guided by what makes you feel like you, versus maybe what we have been taught to do is listening to someone else.

Erin Gray:

So what I've noticed with friends that have this type of authority is they just really need to talk it out right. Clarity comes with speaking, so as you verbally process, you might not not even need anyone to pipe in. You just need to actually talk it out and then get to the point that feels really good for you. So choose, make sure that you're surrounding yourself with trusted people, friends that you know. May they don't have to know about human design, but you could start to kind of inform them and tell them like this is what I'm playing with and working through. I just need to talk it out. I don't need you to give me any advice, but I just want to kind of verbalize this and process this and through that process you'll be able to reach a decision. You could also use your phone, you know, like notes. You could record yourself an audio and just verbally talk it out, listen back and you will get and gain more clarity when it comes to your decision-making.

Erin Gray:

And the sixth type of authority is environmental, or what they call mental authority, this type of decision-making, this is really guided by your environment. I think this one is so important once again to have people that you know you, you trust and that care for you, for specifically you, not from them to have an ulterior motive, because you take in the information from your environment, you know where you're in and being in that type of environment that is supportive to you is very important, right? Having a trusted advisor as a sounding board, someone that's not going to give you advice, they're just going to listen to you, I think is really highly supportive and beneficial, because if you are around someone who is giving you their opinion so easily, it can sway your decision, versus really having someone to support you and listen and just let you kind of you know, verbally vomited out and talk through it and then get to a place that feels good for you and having someone that can ask you really good questions if they know you really well, they can ask you questions that you can even gain more clarity on. Also, to you know, going in nature, being in nature, is really supportive when making decisions. So, just being mindful that, if you, this is such a small amount of the population, um, but if this is you, if you do have environmental authority, really making sure that your environment is supportive to you when you all the time, obviously, and when you're making decisions. And then the last authority is specifically for reflectors, which this is makes up like 1% of the population.

Erin Gray:

What I have noticed my mom is a reflector. She takes, you know about, uh, about a month they call it the lunar cycle about a month to make a decision, um, and I think a lot of times so many of us doesn't. You don't have to be a reflector, but so many of us are forced to make quick decisions and then we have buyer's remorse or we have we, we just wouldn't have made that decision. And I think that slowing down and really connecting to our body because rushing really leads to misalignment you know giving yourself time If you have this authority, if you are a reflector, giving yourself time to sit with the decisions, feeling them out. You know across different moods, environments. You know, obviously, if you I always say there's lots of caveats to this but you know, as a reflector, they don't have any defined centers, so they're just picking up all of the energy of their entire environment. So, if you're a reflector and you're with someone who is typically positive and encourages you, you might make an entirely different decision than if you're with someone who thinks the world is falling apart and is very pessimistic.

Erin Gray:

So I always say get out of other people's energy, like, be in your own energy, get in nature and I think this is true for all of the authorities, all seven of them. Whenever you're making a decision, get in your own energy, away from people, get in nature. If you can and really you know for the reflectors, really give yourself that time before making any major money moves. You know. Also, too, what could be helpful is tracking how you're feeling shift over time and paying attention to that. And I always say, regardless of what authority, you are really starting to connect and and see the patterns that are occurring for you as you make these decisions. Get out in nature, get out of other people's energy and really start tapping in and tuning into your body what you need, what you want, what feels good for you, and really start to surround yourself If you already haven't, you know with people that are supportive to you, that are going to understand that you're playing with this, that you're learning this and you're really starting to make decisions in an entirely different way than you probably have your entire life.

Erin Gray:

I know that has been true for me and I know it's true for my clients. Like when we start making decisions from a, from an embodiment place right Versus our mind telling us what we should be doing, what we shouldn't be doing, it's the. The decisions that we make are vastly different. So, seven types of authority. You can go to my website, generate a Life Well Lived and do a couple of things. You can grab your human design chart. That's just a tab at the very top. You can put in your information and get your human design chart and it will tell you what type of authority you have.

Erin Gray:

And if you want to take the free workshop same website, generatealalifewelllivedcom go to work with me and then click on create financial ease with human design and you can explore the four modules that really dive into what is human design, what is type, what is authority, how to use it in your financial life. So you can really start playing with this and embodying it, versus just you know saying, oh, I'm a generator and I you know an emotional authority, but like, no, what does that actually mean? I truly believe you know understanding what human design is, understanding your specific human design type, whether that's generator, manifesting generator, projector's generator, manifesting generator, projector, reflector, manifester. That is the type. Understanding your human design type and then your authority, which is your decision-making way that you are actually meant to make decisions, can truly change the way that you approach your money. I know it has for me, and when you make financial decisions in a way that aligns with your energy, I truly believe that everything really starts to flow, and flow a lot easier. It doesn't feel like we're like hitting our heads up against the wall because we've been so conditioned to make decisions with our mind versus our body.

Erin Gray:

And until next time, did you learn something today? Do you know another female entrepreneur who might be avoiding her money? Will you send this episode over to her for me and, if you have it in you, please leave me a review for this podcast? It helps the show grow and I love hearing from you. See you next week.
