Ready Set Reiki is a journey
From the curious beginner to the Season Master Teacher
All Energy workers of all systems and all levels.

Speaker 1:

This is Ready Set Reiki, a podcast about Reiki, the universal energy life force, from the curious beginner to the seasoned master teacher, welcoming all systems, lineages and all levels. Reiki is a journey and not a destination, and on this Ready Set Reiki journey, we refer to ourselves as guides rather than hosts, as we too are traveling, supporting learning on this Ready Set Reiki journey as well. And with that said, I am your first guide, tracy Searight, and I'm your second guide, millie Pampina, and today we are honored to have Lisa Graham as our guest.

Speaker 1:

Lisa has been in touch with other dimensions her entire life, starting with a simple ghost sighting at a young age and accumulating with her current work, teaching others to manage and heal their own energy and psychic abilities through coaching, kundalini Reiki, light language, past life connection and other psychological tools. She holds many certifications in coaching and healing modalities, including being gifted with channeling her own healing modality in 2020. Lisa is also very well versed in a Zooey Reiki and has received a master levels in 2013 and 2019, respectively, as well as Kundalini Reiki Master in 2021. She loves teaching Reiki to those with new energy healing. Being able to witness someone's growth is a very fun part of her work. So welcome Lisa to Ready Set Reiki.

Speaker 2:

Thank you so much for having me. It's an honor to be here. I listened to your podcast and I was really impressed with your knowledge and just how you make such an open and welcoming space for people.

Speaker 1:

Thank you and with that said, with this welcoming space, tell us about yourself. We love to hear about you.

Speaker 2:

So my name is Lisa. I am an energy healer, reiki Master, spiritual coach. I've been working in this field for 15 years. I'm a lot older than people think I am and I attribute that to my Reiki. I love to read, I love to cook, I love to play with my kitten and I'm very passionate about healing, about shadow work, and I love teaching Reiki. Kundalini Reiki has been the most recent addition to my toolbox in the last couple of years and I could literally talk about it all day. But the biggest thing for me is just offering people a space where they feel heard, where they feel seen and where they feel like they're making progress in their healing journey, because those were things that I couldn't find when I started this work 15 years ago.

Speaker 1:

Wonderful, wonderful. So tell us, when did Reiki come into your life?

Speaker 2:

So it was approximately 2008. I was gifted a Reiki session and I had no idea what I was in for. Like I said, I've always kind of had that kind of connection to the other side, but something about this was like you have to go and do this. It was this huge intuitive feeling and so I went and I had this Reiki session and it was life-changing. And then, not long after that, I became part of the Spiritualist Church it's about an hour from where I live now and I started attending their mediumship development classes and it just kind of snowballed from there. I got interested in metaphysics and things like that and I started learning to read tarot, I started playing with crystals. And then Reiki showed up and I got my Usui masters over the course of that that year and then I just kind of sat in the back burner for a while. I kind of played with it off and on and my life changed.

Speaker 2:

Some big things happened to me in 2012. And it was after that that I started kind of going. I need to study this more seriously. So I believe it was in 2015. I took a refresher in Usui Reiki and got kind of reattuned, recertified there. In 2019, I went into the Atlantean Reiki, which I love for its connection to esoteric knowledge. I mean, I'm a Pisces, sun and Moon and so I'm all about esoteric knowledge, other dimensions, all of that kind of fun stuff, right. And then two years ago someone came to me and was like I want to give you these attunements in Kundalini Reiki. It was someone who I was working with at the time and I was like sure, let's do this. And honestly I can say it's changed my life. I am not the same person I was two years ago because it's allowed me this deeper level of self-awareness, of healing, of looking at my past and even my past lives in whole new light, and that's why I just I absolutely love Reiki.

Speaker 1:

Wonderful, wonderful, and we love Reiki as well. I love that. So you have been on this journey. What are some of the misconceptions that you found about being in this work, in this field? What are these common misperceptions?

Speaker 2:

Oh, there's so many. Where do I start? I find that a lot of times people think that if I go and I have one Reiki session, I'm going to be healed, and no, it doesn't work that way. I find that people really can be very skeptical. I know I used to do a lot of the traveling psychic shows and things like that and people would be like Reiki, what's that? Because it's still slowly being accepted by mainstream and now I see that it's being accepted in our local hospice and things like that and I'm actually looking into volunteering there shortly to help people with that.

Speaker 2:

But another one of the big kind of misconceptions is that we are, that we're miracle workers, and a lot of people don't realize that we are just a channel. We're just literally a medium for that healing energy and we have to be careful about our biases when we're giving people messages. So that's one of the reasons why I'm so passionate about the shadow work portion of it, because if I can be comfortable moving my ego out of the way and just delivering the message as it is coming through, it's going to have more impact. It's going to have more, it's going to help them in a lot better way.

Speaker 2:

But the biggest misconception I find, too, is that there's never enough right, that there's not enough people to go around, that there's not enough abundance to go around, and I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure, with nearly eight billion, eight and a half billion people on this planet, that there's enough for each one of us to make very comfortable livings off of this, and that we should give it away for free. That's another piece that really bothers me, and not because I feel like you know, oh, I have to make tons of money from this, but because there needs to be that exchange where it's not appreciated in the manner that it was meant to be shared in the world. Right, right.

Speaker 1:

Wonderful, wonderful. So, with that, what are some of the biggest challenges this industry is facing today?

Speaker 2:

The biggest thing I'm finding and it's mostly because of the multi-dimensional nature of my personal work is the skepticism by people who are you know, quote unquote science purists, People who think that everything is about science.

Speaker 2:

You know, in some respects I find that people use these, you know, things like science and spirituality and religion, and they turn it, they turn science into a religion and they turn atheism into its own religion, and I don't necessarily feel that that's the right way to look at things, because a big part of this is balancing science and spirituality. And then the other thing that I do find is, you know, when we get on social media, there can be detractors, there can be, you know, people who are going to say things that are not appropriate, and then just finding that the algorithms on social media tend to favor more mainstream ideas and content. That's the hardest part, I think, about everything that we deal with as regular practitioners and just people who are afraid to share their work and afraid to speak authentically about it. That's really a really important piece of it, in my opinion.

Speaker 1:

Wonderful, wonderful. It is very interesting. Even I also teach yoga, so it's difficult and we figured out with the algorithms that people weren't seeing when we are was having classes, and then figured out okay, we got to make the reals. So it's a constant. You have to be like a machine in promotion if you're using, you know, the Facebook and social media. So to say so when it is time for you to get your Reiki tune up, what qualities do you look for in a Reiki practitioner?

Speaker 2:

There's so many things. So for me, energy is my first language, so the first thing I'm going to be doing is kind of reading that person's energy. What are they giving off? Are they someone who is open minded? Are they kind and compassionate? But also, are they someone who's not willing to let people ignore things? Right? I'm very fortunate. My husband is also fully attuned to Kundalini rankings, so we can just do our own exchanges. But when I am looking, it's someone that I feel relatively safe in their presence and in their energy. That's a really important thing for me Wonderful.

Speaker 1:

So what advice would you give someone brand new to this, our curious beginner who is listening to this and saying, wow, I really resonate with this. What advice would you give them about this profession?

Speaker 2:

The biggest thing is don't be afraid to share your voice, develop relationships. Don't compare yourself to other healers. Every single person has a unique frequency and vibration in this planet and they have the opportunity to share their work in a way that is authentic. Right, we need to be our most authentic selves, and I know society doesn't always allow for that, but the more we kind of allow ourselves to live in that authenticity, and even in things that bring us joy, you know, the freer we're going to be as a society. So I have some very deep beliefs about the way our world is right now, but that's another podcast.

Speaker 2:

Another piece is set boundaries. If you are with clients, set boundaries. That was something I learned the hard way a few years ago. You know you'd get that person who'd message you at six o'clock at night Can I get a reading tonight? And I would do it, you know. And then I realized wait a second, I'm burning myself out. And the other piece is self care. And when I say self care, I'm not talking about wine and bubble baths, because though that is a wonderful, fun thing to do, that is not true self care. That is just a relaxation moment we need to be, you know, making sure we are paying attention to things like our diet, like our movement practices, whatever those look like. Also, you know what is your, your kind of mental and emotional. Are you journaling? Are you questioning how you're feeling about things? You know, and that's when you want to do your own shadow work and then make sure you're practicing your Reiki every day.

Speaker 2:

I have Kundalini Reiki students. I had one in particular. She came back about a month after the class had was finished and she said I don't know, this Reiki just doesn't seem to be working for me. And my first question to her was did you practice? Because it's like a muscle, right? If we don't practice or move our bodies, our muscles aren't going to work Well. If we don't practice our Reiki, our Reiki is not going to work as well. And I do recommend practice every day and practice on yourself as well as you know your pets and your family, if they're willing, absolutely. I mean, I love to do Reiki on my dog, but she doesn't love it as much as my cat does.

Speaker 1:

And I find that too in this journey, that those who have come to me and say it's not working, and then, as we start going backwards and looking at things, that it's they are not practicing, they're not bringing it into their daily life somewhere to build that, to bring that strength up with it. So I could not agree more with you. So what books do you recommend?

Speaker 2:

I actually have two that I recommend to everybody. Like I said, I am very much about the shadow work and healing the inner child. So the first one I recommend to people is called how to Do the Work by Dr Nicole Lapera. She's a psychologist, she's known as the holistic psychologist. I have read that book multiple times and every time I find something new within myself and within my inner child to kind of work on and look at things in a more loving, compassionate perspective. And then the other one that I always recommend to people, especially if they're new to energy work, is called Ghosts Among Us by James Van Prog.

Speaker 2:

It's an older book. It actually was one of the pieces that got me started on my journey that I didn't actually realize until probably five years after I got started. That I remembered hey wait, I read this book because I found it at Walmart. It was really expensive because this was, you know, 15 years ago. It was $30 for the hardcover and I bought it anyway because it was one of those things where I was like, yes, I have to, I have to buy this book and it really helped me understand what energy was, how I could work with it and was kind of like that jumping off point, so it's a really great beginner resource if you're new to energy work.

Speaker 1:

Wonderful. So tell us your offerings. Your offering classes, workshops, sessions, and how our listeners can find you, to connect with you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so I offer a variety of different services. I offer just basic sessions. You can just get a Kundalini Reiki chakra cleanse so we can come in just kind of reset your energy and send you on your way, if that's what you're looking for. We can get deeper than that. We can do a custom healing session, past life healing and reading sessions. Those are very unique the ones that I do because how we do it is we work with the past life Reiki and you get a story along with what pattern, emotional, energetical contract, whatever pattern there that you brought with you. I also do spiritual coaching and have several packages about that, and I always recommend people, if they're curious about my workbook, a discovery call, because that's a great way for us to spend 20 minutes, half an hour, to get to know each other and find out if we're a good fit to work together.

Speaker 2:

I do also offer a Kundalini Reiki crash course. I call it. It's a four-week course where you get all of your Kundalini Reiki attunements, you learn how it works, we learn about Kundalini energy and also you are a certified practitioner at the end of it. There are 18 Reju Reju is the word for attunements and it's I could talk about that one all day. So that's kind of the basics of what I offer. They can find me on Facebook and Instagram under moonoverpicies that's the name of my business, just because I have all of those Pisces placements in my chart. It just was one of those things that kind of came to me. My website, moonoverpiciesca, and you can also find me on YouTube the same name moonoverpicies.

Speaker 1:

Great for our listeners, who are those curious beginners. You tell a little bit about a discovery call Like if they feel like, ooh, I wanna do this, but what's that discovery call?

Speaker 2:

So, basically, when someone books a discovery call, I sit with the energy of whatever they've kind of presented to me there and I will ask them some questions about their journey, about where they're at and what they're looking for, and just kind of find out if there's someone who is willing to do the work that's gonna be offered, because, though I come across as a very meek and kind, I can be kind of a demanding coach, because we need people who are willing to heal themselves. So, yeah, it's just literally a conversation that we have I ask you some questions and we go from there.

Speaker 1:

Wonderful, and you offer in-person and online as well. Absolutely All right where?

Speaker 2:

is your location, so I am in Chatham, ontario, canada, currently. That may be changing over the next few months as my husband is changing his profession and I will be moving with him.

Speaker 1:

All right, perfect, perfect. Well, this ends our part of our journey. Thank you so much, and I'm gonna pass you over to my co-guide, millie Pampino, where she has three social media questions for you. So, thank you so much, millie. The floor is yours. Thank you.

Speaker 4:

Hey, lisa, thank you so much for joining us. I was just fascinated listening to you and I'm definitely going to take advantage of some of those books that you recommended, because it sounded very interesting and I personally like that side of the practice. So thank you so much. And gosh, canada. I have several relatives in Canada, so very near and dear to my heart. And thank you earlier for sharing the beautiful story about your kitten and its experience and using Reiki to help it heal, and I wish you all the best moving forward with that.

Speaker 4:

Kittens and puppies are just like our children, so I appreciate the effort and the love you put into that. So, as Tracy had spoke of, we do, we pull our audience for some questions, we give them your background, you know when you're coming on and we collect up all the questions and Tracy goes ahead and boils that down to three of the top questions. And the first one I have for you is when I perform a Reiki treatment, I notice my mind gets very busy or I have trouble focusing. What technique do you use to focus during a session?

Speaker 2:

I just thought that was such a fantastic question when you sent that to me. So there's a few things. We live in a world where we are constantly bombarded with stimuli, so I meditate every day. It might only be for five minutes, it might be for an hour, it depends on how I'm at. But the idea behind that is this is a practice that helps us focus, and a lot of people get overwhelmed with that because they get kind of stuck in that notion of like I have to be quiet and I have to clear my mind and be perfect. No, it is a practice.

Speaker 2:

It takes time to learn to focus, and so I recommend researching meditation and what forms of it work best for you.

Speaker 2:

Some people need music, some people need silence, some people need to be guided, some people need to focus strictly on their breath, some people need to practice mindfulness.

Speaker 2:

You can practice meditation while you're doing the dishes.

Speaker 2:

You know things like that, and I find that that is a very helpful thing when you find extra thoughts, because what happens when you're in that reiki session is you're now open to everything that's willing to just kind of pop into your energy field, and so if you find there are things that are unhelpful.

Speaker 2:

You can kind of say you know, I appreciate that, but this is a thought that we don't need right now and just gently push it aside. We're not judging it, we're not, you know, giving it any credence, we're just gently pushing it aside. Another piece that I do is I do make sure that I run reiki on myself and I make sure that I am centered and grounded before and after a session, because we wanna be that clear channel and we don't wanna have the bias that we can often carry when we are working on someone and are offering them these messages and then afterwards it's about, you know, kind of releasing their energy back to them with love and compassion so that they can continue with their healing. So yeah, just making sure you're centered and grounded and practicing focus is really important.

Speaker 4:

Thank you so much. That's honestly words to live by and I appreciate that because we attempt to do our level best to you know. Let our students and clients know that you must, you must, you must practice in order to get where you wanna be. And if you're not getting there, maybe we have to change the technique or work together to find something that really does work and resonate with you. I personally can meditate in the busiest of places because I've learned to. You know it's within me. But a lot of people, a lot of people are, you know, they're busy, they're learning, they're taking it all in and you know, I appreciate that the words of wisdom there for them. So again, the second question what makes Reiki different from other forms of energy healing?

Speaker 2:

So this was really cool, because I not only do practice the Reiki, but I also practice light language, and so for me the biggest difference is so I'm also have masters in three different Reikis, so this really kind of is a fun thing to look at. So, within the three Reikis that I practiced, sothia Sui, I find, is best for physical and even mental things that people are working with. The Atlantean Reiki that I work with is best if you are looking for esoteric knowledge. And then, finally, the Kundalini Reiki is very specific. It is specifically designed to help raise the Kundalini energy, but it's also very wonderful for being able to target specific things.

Speaker 2:

So with past lives karma I've worked with generational healing, with this emotional healing, specific emotions, when someone's holding a lot of fear around something, for example. The difference with that, though, is when I work with light language. What I'm doing is I'm creating an energetic program, so kind of think of it as like a quantum computer program. I wish I could explain it better, because quantum physics is still just a little bit beyond my scope of being able to explain. I have this odd understanding of it, but we are quite literally writing a program for that situation, that person, whatever.

Speaker 2:

So an example of how I might use that is, say, someone comes to me and this actually is kind of a real life example of someone that I've been working with for quite a while on. They have difficulty with relationships and when I say relationships I mean romantic relationships and so what we've done is we've gone into their childhood and we've worked on things that correspond to the issues that they're having. But then what we do, once we release the energy of those childhood patterns and past life patterns and things like that, is we go in and we write this program to help her invite in love, to help her invite in being open in relationships, to help her invite in all of these things. And specifically, self love is super important in this part. So that's one of the ways that they would differ, in that the Reiki will help with the healing, whereas the light language will help with creating the new and integrating the new ways of thinking and being.

Speaker 4:

Very interesting and we can find this training and everything on your site. I'm asking for myself now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, absolutely Absolutely. You know, like I said, I do generally recommend booking that discovery call because it helps us kind of determine what the best course of action is. I don't believe in needlessly spending money on things right, I believe in like, let's work with what works best for you, and that's always been how I've approached sales Beautiful.

Speaker 4:

Beautiful. And our third question is I recently had my first Reiki treatment. Why did I get so emotional during my Reiki treatment? That's a great question.

Speaker 2:

That is an absolutely fabulous question because it actually ties into my story about my very first Reiki treatment. I deliberately didn't tell this part of it because I knew I wanted to talk about it in this part. So, like we live in a society that would rather we didn't feel or express emotion, right? We, you know, don't get excited about things, don't be sad about things, just be neutral and just accept things how they are. And the reason we get so emotional is we it's think of it like a pond. So you have that layer on top that's still, and then you have that kind of mud and that sludge underneath, right? And what happens with a Reiki session is we get in there and we muddy up those waters. We're digging into the dirt, essentially to try and heal whatever it is that's coming up for you, whether it's emotional or physical or childhood or past life or whatever it is that we're working on.

Speaker 2:

And when I had my very first Reiki treatment 15 years ago and I still laugh about this because it was so I did not expect this.

Speaker 2:

And when I went back and told the lady, she's like, yeah, and so now I tried to make sure I warn people, these are some of the things you're going to experience, and one of them is that emotionality. I went home and I just sat on the couch my kids were young at the time and we just we were watching TV. But I literally felt myself move through this entire gamut of emotions. I was happy, I was sad, I was elated, I was angry, I felt jealousy over something that made no sense, I felt afraid and I even then finally went into joy and finally it took hours and it finally balanced out. But the interesting part about that for me was not long after that I just I made the decision to go off of the antidepressant medication and I have to say, working with Reiki over the last 15 years has really helped me stay off of it and find more holistic and natural ways of dealing with the high functioning depression that I lived with for years.

Speaker 4:

That's. I love that story because it's very relatable. Sorry, I have my Reiki rascal here starting to demand my attention, but thank you so much, lisa. Is there anything else you'd like to add? This brings the end of the questions that we have, and is there anything else that you might have forgotten or would like to bring forward for our listening audience?

Speaker 2:

I think I would just say you know, if it's, if you're someone who is skeptical about Reiki, take a step back and ask yourself why? What is it about it Are? Is there a fear there? Is there a need to be right? Is there you know something along those lines? Because, as humans, we do often find ourselves kind of stuck in certain mindsets, and I believe that being open-minded about everything is, you know, a much better way to navigate the world, because it gives us the opportunity to be kind to others, to be compassionate and to really make connections. For me, that's probably the most important piece of it at all is just be willing to make Connections with others on an open, honest and integral way. Thank you so much.

Speaker 4:

Well, thank you for joining us, lisa. Already set Reiki. We want to bring everybody the opportunity to you know, explore and Imagine and be in contact with you. Know those out there who have gone before and are still on that journey, learning and you know, accepting or rejecting various items that you know resonate with them or maybe right for somebody else, as you spoke about your discovery Appointment, and I think that's a great opportunity. So I'm hoping that we have listeners that do take advantage of that and I appreciate you that you're doing that and your take on the financial experience as well.

Speaker 4:

You know, I Appreciate that it would be better to align the individual with what would work best for them rather than just having them pick and choose and spending money, possibly needlessly, because they won't be excited, they won't practice, they won't continue on this beautiful journey of what I say. Continue on with your blessing and graces. So thank you, and again, I'm Millie Pampina, I am your co-guide on this journey With ready set Reiki and I'd like to leave you with my tagline, which is To see beauty in everything is a choice.
