Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, garfield Bowen.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to the Good Neighbor podcast. Are you in need of a dog groomer? Well, one may be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your neighbor, lisa Ingram, with Deke Mobile Dog Grooming. Lisa, how you doing today.

Speaker 3:

I'm doing great. How are you doing?

Speaker 2:

I am well. We're excited to learn all about you and your business. Tell us about your company, Well it's Deke Mobile Grooming we cover all the.

Speaker 3:

East Coast, stewart, jupiter, palm Beaches, vero. We job up to your door, grab your dog and go away in the grooming van and make them beautiful.

Speaker 2:

All done at your ease, right Right at your door. That's right. So, lisa, how did you get into this business?

Speaker 3:

Well, I've been studying for three years, living in Alabama on a rent, and I couldn't make it to the school in Fort Lauderdale. So I hired Judy Hudson and she came to the ranch and trained me and I had the van. So I've been learning for three years and now I've put it to work.

Speaker 2:

That's beautiful right.

Speaker 3:

Oh yeah, Lots of seminars.

Speaker 2:

So what is some of the myths and misconceptions of the dog grooming business?

Speaker 3:

Well, one thing everybody thinks it's easy, it's a lot of work and we love our clients, which are our dogs. Of course, we love their moms and dads, but it's all about making the dog happy.

Speaker 2:

Okay. So, lisa, when you're not so busy running your business, what do you like to do for fun?

Speaker 3:

Well, I used to ride horses and train horses, and now I have show poodles and I have a seven-acre ranch in Okeechobee and then I live in a Stewart Yacht Country Club. So I have keyed down quite a bit for competition.

Speaker 2:

So you're animal person, I am Okay. Those are your best buddies there. Okay, let's change gears a little bit. Life often does this curveball. Let's talk about a hardship, one struggle, something that you went through and you can look back to and say you're better and stronger because of it. What comes to mind?

Speaker 3:

Well, I was training feral horses, I rode cutting horses, and I pulled into my ranch one day, which was in Piper Road, alabama, and as I was pulling in, a lady hit me. She was texting 70 miles an hour and tore my trailer and Polaris tore the back of the truck off. No one was hurt, we thought, and then three months later I discovered that I really was hurt and so it disintegrated the disc in my back and broke all the things off my neck. So I started struggling and I ended up having to sell all my show horses and I ended up moving to Florida and it has been awesome, even though it's such a let down, so hard to let go.

Speaker 1:

A young girl here in.

Speaker 3:

Okeechobee is riding one of my top horses and she's winning, and so I'm just kind of living through her and I've absolutely fell in love with the grooming business. The people, all the groomers, are so kind and friendly. It's like a team, like a network.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, sometimes a good Lord got to give you a little shove to get you to get to the next level of your life you know that's right. Nothing wrong with that. So, lisa, could you tell our listeners what they should remember about Deke Mobile Dog Rooming?

Speaker 3:

Well, Deke is Hungarian and my best friend lived in Florida and she used to work for me, so for 18 years, whenever I had an argument or anything, I would become the best of friends. And I lost her last Easter and so I decided to name my business after her Deke Mobile Grooming, and it's been awesome to Hungarians all the time just from having that name and becoming clients and friends and special kidding.

Speaker 2:

Is there anything special about your business you want them to remember?

Speaker 3:

Well, we take our time, we don't rush, we use the best products for the ultimate grooming experience. They're all natural high-ponics shampoos, conditioners, detangle sprays and it's just a kinder environment. And right now we have a school bus. We're turning into what we're going to call the BART bus and it's going to be quite an experience. It's going to be a lot bigger, the dogs can run around and more groomers in the bus and working more freely.

Speaker 2:

I'm sure my family is going to love it. I'm sure my listeners are looking at their fur babies right now and they hear probably a little bit too long, or they may be smelling a little bit and they probably ask. The big word that's on their lips right now is how? How can I get more information on Deke Mobile Dog Grooming?

Speaker 3:

Well, you can call 772-521-0996. You can look us up on Facebook. We have a website and we're on Google.
