Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Garfield Bowen.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. We have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, Iva Crittlin, with Liberty Inc. Iva, how you doing today.

Speaker 3:

I'm good. How are you?

Speaker 2:

Listen, we're excited to learn all about you and your business. Tell us about your company.

Speaker 3:

Well, we're a music company. We produce and edit music um. The company is named after a musician, um art artist named liberty, and he is a performer and a writer. So this is some of the things we we are able to offer to the public.

Speaker 2:

So, Iva, how did you get into this business?

Speaker 3:

Well, in the beginning it was the company originally started as a way to support the work of Liberty he. When he started recording going to studios, sometimes he wouldn't always get the quality that he wanted and then, as you know, when you're doing creative, in anything creative, it can be really costly. So those were some of the issues that we had, that we had, and we came to a point where, out of necessity, we decided to learn engineering sound engineering and began producing, mixing and editing music for ourselves, which led us down the path of doing it for others as well.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so you got a lot under your hat. You got the talent, you got the producing end of it and the mixing and all of those other things. So what are some of the myths and misconceptions of your industry?

Speaker 3:

Well, as you said, it's a lot. So people tend to I tend to think that it's easy when you're in the creative field, because you know lots of people are doing it. But I've found that nothing is really easy. It becomes easy through repetition, or less difficult through repetition, through repetition. But we've encountered long days and even longer nights, and you know you just have to push through because you have a passion for something. There's always times that it's not going to be as fun as it used to be. You know what I mean. And you have to push through those hard times, push past the times that it's not fun, and eventually you get to a point where you create a product that you're extremely proud of. And that's what I think we've come to.

Speaker 2:

I could imagine the work and the time involved in producing quality work. Now Iva outside of work. When you're not busy running your business, what do you like to do for fun?

Speaker 3:

Well, you know, I love learning. That's probably why I'm in this field, because it's constant learning, technology is ever evolving, so I love learning and I love history. So I'm a history buff, I love reading about history, museums, that kind of thing. Most importantly for me, I love nature. I'm new to the Fort Pierce, fort St Lucie area so it's kind of amazing. I'm exploring and really discovering the beautiful parks and stuff that Fort St Lucie has to offer offer, because once, when you spend a lot of time in the studio in that creative process, being out in nature can just be so rejuvenating, you know, and um, I, I enjoy that at all there's a couple of nature walks here.

Speaker 2:

I'll tell you about off air that you may want to visit to a treasure coast. Let's change gears a little bit. Life often feels as hurtful, so let's talk about one hardship, one life challenge, something that you can look back today and say you're better and stronger because of it. What comes to mind?

Speaker 3:

Well, like I said, when we originally started, we were basically focused on just liberty, and when you're doing a business, sometimes you have to kind of diversify. You know, we weren't really focused on doing production and some of those other aspects and some of those other aspects, but we kind of realized the more we. You know, music is kind of like a rabbit hole, right. You start in one thing and if you're willing to learn, so we put in the time and starting sound engineering kind of just led us down a path that we're just extremely excited to journey down.

Speaker 3:

I, for example, I am an artist, a visual artist, to begin with. I've always been a visual artist, so it took me time to learn sound engineering and all I started out with was a really was an extreme passion for music, you know. And we built on that passion. We went to um, other studios, elders in the industry, um, we, we do, we do rap and that, uh, but I would say our base is basically reggae. But we went to the professionals and we sat with them and they tutored us and gave us advice and it's been an amazing journey. So I could have said no, because that's not my thing, but I was passionate about music and I took the chance and I don't regret it at all.

Speaker 2:

Okay, I'm going to put you on the spot a little bit, would that be okay? Sure, okay, we have a lot of creative uh people out there who are our listeners and, um, I want you to narrow it down to one thing, one thing that you want our listeners to remember about uh, liberty inc um, we're passionate and we're a small company, but we're passionate.

Speaker 3:

We're passionate about people and we're passionate about creating amazing experiences for the inventive individuals that we come in contact with okay, I'm sure on the.

Speaker 2:

The word that's on their lips right now is how how can we get more information about Liberty Inc.

Speaker 3:

Well, we do have a website, l-i-v-i-t-i dot com. You can listen to music. We also have our social media links on that page. You can also contact the artists.
