Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, garfield Bowen.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to the Good Neighbor podcast. Today, I have the pleasure of introducing Good Neighbor Thomas DeLuca with Maximum Painting. How are you doing today, thomas? I'm good. How about you, sir? I am well. We're excited to learn all about you and your business. Tell us about your company.

Speaker 3:

So my company is Maximum Painting. We offer interior, exterior, residential and commercial painting. The thing that separates us is we do like a white glove service, where the customer doesn't have to do anything. We do it all, from furniture moving to putting pictures back, you name it. We sweep behind your couches Anything you can imagine.

Speaker 2:

You're getting me excited already. So, thomas, how did you get into this business?

Speaker 3:

So after I graduated high school in 2010, a buddy of mine, his father, offered me a job as you know, a helper and ever since then it's just been the one thing that I've stuck with. I haven't done anything else. It's just been all I've known for the last 11 years and it's been very good to me and I've learned a lot along the way. It's a great trade and I love it.

Speaker 2:

What is some of the myths and misconceptions in the painting industry?

Speaker 3:

So one of the most common misconceptions with the painting industry is that a lot of people tend to think that painters work magic. We do not work magic. We can only make things look as good as the canvas that we start on. You know, sometimes we're responsible for making drywall look good, which is something that we do. We make walls look good, we bring color to places we aren't magicians and we just try to make houses look good. And yeah, that's probably one of the biggest misconceptions is that we're not miracle workers. We can only do as good as what we have to start with, if that makes any sense.

Speaker 2:

How do you handle colors? I mean, suppose your client wants to know what color. How do you get into the color selections and stuff like that?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so after working with Cheryl Williams for so many years and other paint providers, you know you develop a sense and like an eye for you know going into a home or even the outside of a home and being able to, you know, pick up little things within that area as far as furniture, you know, your knickknacks and stuff and just being able to kind of make everything flow together. And you know, of course we have tools as far as color, decks and things like that. We have access to a lot of tools that can help us with picking colors and whatnot. But, yeah, you just kind of develop a sense of, you know, reading the customer, reading the type of theme that they go with throughout the house and just kind of bringing that to life through the color.

Speaker 2:

I recommend all the guys in relationships to stay away from trying to pick colors.

Speaker 3:

It's so true. It is true. We usually deal with the misses. She's the boss.

Speaker 2:

Listen outside of work when you're not busy running your business. What do you like to do for fun?

Speaker 3:

So I've lived in Florida, the Port St Lucie area, my whole life. I'm a native. I like to do a lot of outdoors activities. I like fishing, you know. I like. I have a very good group of friends that I grew up with and we've stuck together ever since elementary school. So we do a lot of things together hiking, bike riding, jogging, I mean you name it Just basically anything outdoors. You know a lot of other things too computer stuff. I like to, you know, do some gaming from time to time and just brushing up on their things.

Speaker 2:

Let's change gears a little bit. Life often does this hardship. Let's talk about one hardship, one life challenge, something that you went through and you can look back today and say you're better and stronger because of it. What comes to mind?

Speaker 3:

Well, you could say that this year for me has been a bit troubling. I went through a recent family member, you know, passing, I was actually my father and along that journey, from today, I've learned a lot. As far as you know, just trying to keep my head up and look at the positives and everything from the day to day grind, you know, just a lot of it's a lot that I probably couldn't even explain all in one show, but I'm a very positive person. I don't like to, you know, take any of the negatives. I take all the positives in life and I just stay strong and, you know, keep working towards my goal of a successful company and a successful business and making people happy, and any hardships that I've gone through have only led me to this point and I'm just grateful to you know, be here, breathing, have a roof over my head and a good group of friends.

Speaker 2:

Yes, it's tough. I lost my father eight years ago and it seems like yesterday. So I know the feeling and I guess comfort is always. You know, thinking about, you know what would he say and how proud he'll be of you. Now, you know, reaching the stage that you've got Absolutely. And that's the ultimate goal.

Speaker 3:

I just want to make him proud.

Speaker 2:

Now tell us one thing that you want to listen to, to remember about Maximum Painting.

Speaker 3:

So I'd love for them to remember that what sets us aside from a lot of other painters is, like I had mentioned in the beginning, it's not just a service. You know you become almost like a family member to us, where we don't want to make it to, where you call us, we come, do a service and you part ways with us and you never see us again. We want the customer or whoever to feel comfortable with calling us back. You know, whatever it may be, even if it's a small touch up and you know you don't have a ladder at your house we want to be the people that you can call and just be comfortable with. You know we want to provide the customer with, like I said, the white glove service where they just don't have to do anything. You know they can call us and rely on us and have trust in us to provide them with a great service and great quality, high quality painting.

Speaker 2:

Now my listeners now looking around the house, looking at the wall, the door, the ceiling. Yep, it's time. How could they learn more about Maximum Painting?

Speaker 3:

So obviously you can check us out on Google. I have an Instagram page. I am in the process of getting my website up. I've purchased the domain name and everything. I'm just working out a few more back end pages to get that going. But you know, right now phone number, text I am always on the road. I'm always responding to calls. I like to make it super easy for people to get in touch with me and I, you know, work around their schedule to provide the free estimates. But yeah, you know I'm working on making it even more easier and but yeah, phone number and text are a great way to get a hold of me.

Speaker 2:

Thomas, is it the number you want to share?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, absolutely. Our phone number is 772-359-8704. And that's a cell phone that can receive text calls the whole nine.

Speaker 2:

Well, Thomas, we really appreciate having you on the show. We wish you and your business the very best moving forward.

Speaker 3:

Garfield, thank you for having me. It was a pleasure and I appreciate the opportunity to be on the show.
