This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Benjamin John.
Speaker 2:Welcome back to the Good Neighbor Podcast once again. Hey, are you in search of a general contractor who specializes in shell construction, someone who's reliable and ethical? Well, there might be someone very close, closer than you think, and I'm going to introduce him. I got the pleasure of spending some time with Luis Rumartini with Venice Commercial Services. Luis, how you doing.
Speaker 3:I'm doing great, how you doing, ben.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm doing fantastic, as always or most days, I should say. So I'm excited for you to kind of share a little bit more about your company to the local community here. So let's just start off with that question and get right into it. Can you tell us a little bit about the company?
Speaker 3:of course, and hey, let me thank you, uh for having me here, thank you for the space, thank you for the time, so always a pleasure, uh, to share some time with you. All right, so, yeah, basically, uh, my name again is luis remartini. With venice commercial services, we are general contractors, family-owned local company of porsche and lucy. We have been in business since 2015, so basically we are reaching the 10 years uh goal this year. So we are proud of, you know, have been for this long just helping our community to keep growing. So we do specialize on shell construction, which is basically concrete walls and roof, so anything on flat work pavers, driveways, patios, slabs, foundations, concrete blocks and roofing of any type shingles, tiles, metal or flat roof as well very nice.
Speaker 2:Well, yeah, you kind of cover a wide range of construction applications which I I can appreciate, coming from the construction industry myself, and I think we've talked about that before. So really cool to hear that you're hitting the 10-year mark. Congratulations on that thank you why don't you take us back? How'd you get into this business?
Speaker 3:Well, I started working on construction with my father-in-law, actually back on my original country. I'm from Venezuela, but I have been here, for you know, about those 10 years already and it is funny because I actually have a degree in marketing. So you know, I learned a lot about business and how to sell stuff like that. But you know, when I came to the US, I retake that path of the construction and one thing one thing take to the other. You know the opportunity starts showing up always that you're willing to step up, show up, do the work. So I started learning about license and all the rules and you know the way everything needs to be done.
Speaker 3:And, hey, I'm proud to say that we have been building a nice community. You know loyal customers and, yeah, again, just I love the construction. You know it is beautiful to see something coming out of nowhere, and what I mean? Because we do a lot of like driveways, reduce, or you know remodellation and stuff like that. But when you're building something from zero, it is beautiful. You know, when you see an empty lot and a few months later you see a whole new residence which is going to impact a family life, that's what fills my heart.
Speaker 2:Yeah, me sure that we have that in common because, uh, you know, sometimes it can be tough. It's a good challenge going through it sometimes, especially, especially physically and mentally, but when you step back and look at that project that you put so much time and effort into it's really rewarding for everybody, right?
Speaker 3:it is, it is all right.
Speaker 2:Uh, why don't you tell me a myth or a misconception that is common in the industry?
Speaker 3:Definitely. So you know, a question that we get every day about concrete is about cracks, just to give you an example, right. So people always ask whenever we're doing a patio, a slab, whatever it is flat concrete, people will always ask about the cracks. Right, and they will say like, well, yeah, I have this other guy. They told me that this will never crack. And I like to be straightforward with my customers, you know, and I said listen, there's three things for sure about concrete it's going to get hard, nobody's going to steal it and it's going to get cracked, all right. So you know, concrete cracks just by composition. That's something that we don't like to hear, but it is what it is Right.
Speaker 3:So I always explain to people most likely it's not going to happen. We're going to do what we have to do, like the right thickness, you know, control joints at the right location and at the right distance. So we're going to do everything we can to help with that. But we can't guarantee that concrete won't crack just because, again, it just happened by composition. The very next day you could have a crack Very low portion of the works that we do. These tend to happen, but again, it's always a possibility. So you know, if I lose a business for being honest, just be it. But I don't want to say yeah, that's never going to happen and then being in a situation where it happens. So that's a big myth about the concrete, because people think that there's ways to avoid that 100 percent and realistically there's not a way to promise that won't happen.
Speaker 2:Very nice. I like to hear that you're ethical and you treat people with transparency and you're just upfront about that, of course. Very, very good to hear that. So who are your target customers and how do you attract them? So who are your target customers and how do you attract them?
Speaker 3:Yes, sir. So any business or property owner who is looking to repair, renovate, add or just improve their properties with the use of concrete pavers, house additions, roof extensions at an affordable price, at an effective timing and turnaround. You know that's located on the Treasure Coast and the Palm Beaches. That's basically our market customers. You know anybody who's looking to improve the property with any concrete or pavers work. We do a lot of Google advertisement. We are on Facebook, we are on Instagram, so, but Google, I think that's where we get the most of our customers. We have 175 five stars review on Google and you know all of this is a hundred percent real and organic reviews and pictures. Our Google profile, venice commercial services. People love that. You know, and and and you know, when people read the reviews and then they get to know us, they realize everything is real. So you know we are proud of providing a great service.
Speaker 2:Very good, yeah, I love, I like that you're getting a lot of positive feedback from the community and I just see massive growth for you, man.
Speaker 3:Yes, I appreciate it.
Speaker 2:So so, outside of work, what do you do for fun?
Speaker 3:You know, just spending time with family, mostly, like you know, spending time with my wife, my daughter, going out to a park, going out for dinner. We love to spend time in front of the water grilling with the family, my parents, my sisters, but you know how it is. It's a lot of work and then family time, that's it.
Speaker 2:All right, that's important. It's important, I would say.
Speaker 3:That's all. That's all Family. Yeah, that's what matters.
Speaker 2:All right, I'm going to switch gears on here a little bit, and so I want to ask you is there a life struggle or a life challenge that you've went through that has made you?
Speaker 3:stronger. Remember is basically the path that I have walked basically since I got to the US 10 years ago, you know. So when you get here as an immigrant, you got to do whatever it takes to build something right, to go up and to be able to be someone and somebody. So, you know, as soon as I got here, I was having two jobs, you know. I was working on the morning, working on the afternoon, working at night, I was doing any kind of my thing. I was working on schools, doing, you know, the restaurants, doing the garbage, doing the vacuuming stuff like that Right, a lot of cleaning. So I had to do a lot of stuff that, honestly, I didn't do at my childhood, you know, I didn't grow being used to these kind of activities.
Speaker 3:So whenever I came here and I was, you know, facing that situation, it was hard but it gave me a lot of. It, made me humble, it made me, it gave me a lot of empathy with people, you know, just being on anybody's shoes, and it really helped me to appreciate the good things in life and just realize that, no matter what we do, no matter where we are, everybody has a history. You know, everybody has a family, everybody loves somebody. Everybody has kids, parents, you know. So we, as people we are, all value the same. Nobody's more than anybody else. All right, we may be performing different stuff in our life, different papers in this game, but everybody's worth the same as a person. So that was a good lesson from the whole path that I have been walking.
Speaker 2:Very nice. Well, thanks for sharing that powerful. It's a powerful story in itself. Yes, sir, All right, luis, tell our listeners one thing they should remember about Venice Commercial Services.
Speaker 3:I mean again just the impact that we have on people's life, and this is something that I love to communicate to our team, because, you know, a lot of people may think of a construction company just like, yeah, you do concrete, you do pavers one day here, one day on the other place, and that's it. But it goes beyond that, you know, because every single job that we're doing, no matter how big or small it is, we are impacting people's life. Like you know, just for instance, let's say, we're doing the driveway at your house, you won't forget us, you won't forget these people that can't repower all of that concrete. You know the love, the joking, the fighting, sometimes the arguments. You know. So, realistically, we may forget some people because we are doing 150 plus works a year, because we are doing 150 plus works a year, but that people won't forget us. You know.
Speaker 3:So this is something that I like to put on my guys' mind that we are impacting people's life. So let's do what we have to do and let's don't settle for less than you know, as close as we can get to perfection, right. So let's really make a positive impact on people's life by adding more space on the driveway for the whole family by building a new pergola space so they could celebrate their kids' birthdays, grilling with the family, thanksgiving, you know, christmas, et cetera. So that's what I love about this, about, you know, improving people's life.
Speaker 2:Very nice. I always said that the best companies are the ones who focus on creating a great experience for their customers, and it sounds like you do that, so I'm really happy to hear that. Definitely All right. Well, luis, the last thing here how can our listeners learn more about Venice Commercial Services?
