Welcome to money and magic, the podcast that combines the mystical with the practical to help you navigate money in the Muggle world. I'm your host shy remote bookkeeper and judgment free money coach. I hope this podcast helps you create a harmonious relationship with your finances that empowers you to lead your truly magical life. Lets get started. Welcome back to money and magic. I am so happy that you are here with me today and I cannot believe that this is my 20th podcast episode. When I started this podcast, I honestly had no clue how long I would stick with it. I am not someone who sticks with things very often. I don't know if it's undiagnosed ADHD. I don't know if it's the fact that I'm a Gemini. I have no idea. But I have been sticking with this podcast for nine months now and I am nowhere near quitting. So thank you for being here. Today's episode is all about the summer solstice, also called Letha and it is one of my favorite sabbaths. I know I say that a lot. I will say it is not my absolute favorite, but it is one of my more favorite ones. And so we are going to talk all about the summer solstice and Letha, how to celebrate what it is, and then we are going to talk about the full moon as well there at the end. So lets get to it. What perfect timing for todays episode. Because on the day that this is released, the summer solstice is actually the next day. So that's super cool. But if you've never paid attention to the summer solstice, you have no idea what the solstice or Letha is. It is just where the sun is at its highest point. So it is the longest day and shortest night of the entire year. At this time, we are celebrating the sun and honoring the vitality that it brings to us. This is a time of warmth. It is a fantastic time for new beginnings. We are shifting into summer out of spring, and everything should be growing very well. When I talk about this, I'm in the northern hemisphere and it is like the heat of garden season. I have tomatoes on most of my plants. I've been harvesting carrots. I'm getting ready to harvest my garlic. So that tells me that summer is almost here. This is a time for you to step into your inner power and show your brightness. We are also entering cancer season. So if you were not aware, we have been in Gemini season and this also the summer solstice also marks the beginning of cancer season. And one big difference when we shift from Gemini to cancer is that we are shifting out of the mind, out of the, the logical thinker, and we are shifting more into emotion. We are shifting into turning within and understanding what's inside of yourself rather than what is exterior. Think about we are shifting from an air sign into a water sign. So several days this week, you might have been feeling kind of overwhelmed or anxious or some emotions that you're trying to work through. And that's okay, because a lot is dissolving as we move into cancer season, as we move into that emotional season. So this is a great time of year to start working on what is happening internally and focus less on what is happening externally. So to me, when it comes to celebrating the summer solstice, it is actually one of the most easy holidays to celebrate. I think the biggest thing I tell people is get outside. Get outside and enjoy that sunshine. Even if it's a cloudy day, even if it's raining, the sun is still there. It is still nourishing the earth and the soil. It is still nourishing our bodies. It is out there. So get out there and celebrate. Ground yourself. Put your feet on the earth. If you don't like your bare feet on the earth or you're not comfortable with that, you can go hug a tree. You can just sit and touch the grass. Find some way to ground yourself or root yourself back into the earth, because this is the perfect time to do that. Connect with nature. Open the windows in your space and let that summer air in. Let that cleanse your space. Bring in that fresh freshness of the summer. Another great way to celebrate is to have a bonfire. And I mentioned that a lot when it comes to celebrating different sabbaths. But honestly, fire is such a great way to cleanse and manifest. It is such a great way to release those things that are no longer serving you. Get out and watch the sunset or the sunrise. I know something I plan to do on the solstice. We live close to a reservoir. So I think I'm going to get my kayak out and I'm going to go watch the sunset. I would love to watch the sunrise, but I know I'm not going to get up early enough to put my boat in the water. And no, I ain't about all that. But I will definitely be watching the sunset on the summer solstice, or maybe even the day before. Maybe tomorrow night, I'll watch the summer solstice. Who knows? But I'm definitely going to be watching the sun set or rise within the next couple days at some point. The biggest piece that I want you to understand when it comes to the summer solstice is just to get outside. You don't have to spend any money whatsoever. You can take a stroll around your neighborhood, go to a local park, maybe pick some flowers if you live in an area where it's not very easy to get outside. Or like me this week in Indiana and a lot of the midwest is hot, hot, hot, hot. So maybe you aren't able to get out in that heat. Maybe you're uncomfortable in that heat. Get some flowers and bring them inside. Bring some pieces of that in your doors. I know I won't be opening windows this week because like I said, it is hot and my ac is running. So I'm definitely going to go out to my garden, though, and get some outdoor time. And I'm probably going to bring a fresh bouquet in just to help bring in some of that freshness of summer. There is also a free litha guidebook that goes with this, so feel free to download that in the show notes just like every other sabbat workbook. It's a great way for you to work through. It gives you some tarot spreads, a journal entry area, and then a few other things to help celebrate the solstice. And then the last thing I wanted to mention that is specific to this year, 2024, is that Friday, the day right after our summer solstice, is the full moon. And this brings on a whole new set of energy. And I really want to talk about that. In a prior episode, I talked a lot about the full moon and how it is a great time for releasing. So if you have not listened to that, please go back and listen to that episode because it'll give you a little bit more insight into what to do for this full moon. But the fact that the full moon falls so close to the summer solstice happens about every 20 years, and it has to do with the tilt of the earth and the tilt of the moon and all of that science y stuff that we're not going to get into here. But the full moon is a great time for releasing. And so here we are, moving out of one season into another. A great time for release. The full moon, a great time for release. So this is a very great time to let go of all of the stuff that you're wanting to put behind you. I'm not saying it's going to be easy, but this is a great time to do that. And it might make it a little bit easier. One thing that I really think is super cool is when you think about this full moon, specifically the full moon, and it's at its highest, it's at its most potent. The sun, being the brightest that it is all year, is also at its highest point and its most potent point. So when you have both the sun and the moon, which are in theory opposites of each other, then you have the strength of both of those at this exact time. So no matter what you decide to do, this is a fantastic time to do it. If you choose to celebrate the full moon or the summer solstice, I would love for you to find me on instagram and let me know because I always love seeing how people celebrate. Don't forget that you can download your free Litha guidebook as well and our next episode we are heading back to the money aspect of the podcast, but it won't be all about numbers. I'm actually going to dive into financial feminism and the patriarchy and how that affects all of us. So I will see you in the next episode. And that's a wrap for another spellbinding episode of money and magic. I hope you learned something that can help you navigate money in the Muggle world.
