The More We Dig. The More We Find.

Speaker 1:

Well, everybody, welcome back to the Bible Breakdown podcast with your host, pastor Brandon, today, ezekiel, chapter 10, and today's title is Yahweh has Left the Building. We're going to get into all that in just a moment. It's really really kind of a sad moment when we see this happening, but at the same time, there's still hope in here, as always. But as we're doing that, get your Bibles open to Ezekiel 10. As always, if you're new here, make sure you like, share and subscribe to the YouTube channel and the podcast. Make sure that you are leaving us a five-star review on the podcast it always helps and make sure you're going to the Bible Breakdown Discussion, because the more we dig, the more we find. Once again, don't forget that the overall idea of Ezekiel is God's promise of renewal, and we've been talking about that throughout this whole process, and one of the things we got to realize is is God has to have something to renew. Right, so they got to fall apart, so then God can renew them. And one of the things that's interesting about this is God is continually saying this is what I'm going to do, this is what I'm going to do. But one of the things he also says is like my glory is going to depart and he's been waiting, he's been waiting, he's been waiting, but finally today we're going to see when the glory of God departs from Israel. It reminds me of you know a lot of times in you know, at one particular point, elvis was apparently one of the most popular people like ever live. He was super, super popular. People would always wonder if he was going to come out and do another encore. Sometimes he would, sometimes he wouldn't. Then people would just wait. They would just wait to see if Elvis was going to do another encore. What they would have to do is they would have to announce okay, elvis has now left the building. That was their way of saying. So you can now leave too. But people wouldn't do that. They'd want to wait around and wait around until finally they decided to tell people to leave Elvis has left the building. And that's where now that famous older phrase is Elvis has left the building. In other words, okay, the show is finally over. And there's this moment now when the glory of the Lord is going to leave the temple. And as it leaves the temple, it's like okay, I'm done for now. The glory of the Lord is going to leave. And also, before we get into this, remember that at the very beginning of Ezekiel he saw what we now think of in Revelation, chapter four, as the four living creatures they are. They're worshiping the Lord, and you can also see that from this chapter it's almost like they're also guardians of the presence of God, not guardians of the galaxy, but guardians of the presence of God. And so they are going to come and kind of host the presence of God as he leaves the temple. So that's kind of what we're going to see here. Okay, you ready?

Speaker 1:

Ezekiel, chapter 10, verse 1 says this in my vision I saw what appeared to be a throne of blue lapis lazuli above the crystal surface, over the heads of the cherubim. Then the Lord spoke to the man in linen clothing and said Go between the whirling wheels beneath the cherubim and take a handful of burning coals and scatter them over the city. He did this as I watched. The cherubim were standing at the south end of the temple when a man went in and the cloud of the glory filled the inner courtyard. Then the glory of the Lord rose up from above. The cherubim went over to the entrance of the temple. The temple was filled with the cloud of glory and the courtyard glowed brightly with the glory of the Lord. The moving wings of the cherubim sounded like the voice of God Almighty and could be heard even in the outer courtyard. The Lord said to the man in linen clothing Go between the cherubim and take some burning coals from between the wheel. So the man went in and stood beside one of the wheels. Then one of the cherubim reached out his hand and took some of the live coals from the fire burning among them and he put the coals into the hands of the man in linen clothing and he took them and went out.

Speaker 1:

All the cherubim had what looked like human hands under their wings. I looked and each of the four cherubim had a wheel beside them and the wheels sparkled like beryl. All four wheels looked alike and were made the same. Each wheel had a second wheel turning crosswise within it. So in other words, there was like a wheel that was turning and on the inside there was another one. So it created probably almost like a circle that you would see when it was spinning really, really fast, like a sphere that was spinning around and around Verse 11,.

Speaker 1:

The cherubim could move in any of the four directions they faced without turning. As they moved, they went straight in the direction they faced, never turning aside. Both the cherubim and the wheels were covered with eyes. The cherubim had eyes all over their bodies, including their hands, their backs and their wings. That's weird. Verse 13. I heard someone refer to the wheels as whirling wheels. Each of the four cherubim had four faces. One is the face of an ox, second the face of a human, the third the face of a lion and the fourth the face of the eagle. So if there's any doubt that these are the same creatures from Revelation 4, that just solved it. Verse 15,.

Speaker 1:

Then the cherubim rose upward. These were the same living beings I had seen beside the Kibar River. Then the cherubim moved the wheels. The cherubim moved, the wheels moved with them. When they lifted their wings to fly, the wheels stayed beside them. When the cherubim stopped, the wheels stopped. And when they flew upward, the wheels rose up and the spirit of the living beings was in the wheels. The glory of the Lord moved out from the entrance of the temple and hovered above the cherubim. So there we go. Yahweh has now left the building Verse 19,.

Speaker 1:

As I watched the cherubim flew with their wheels to the east gate of the Lord's temple and the glory of God of Israel hovered above them. These were the same living beings I had seen beneath the God of Israel when I was at the Kebar River and I knew they were cherubim. Each had four faces, four wings, and they looked like human hands under their wings and their faces were like the faces of the beings I had seen at the Kebar, and they traveled straight ahead. Just Wow, this season of judgment. God has finally left the building. But what I love is that he's not gone forever, because even in this moment, what's he doing? He's talking to Ezekiel. So if he were done completely, he would just be done Kill Ezekiel too and go on. But of course, that's not what he's doing. He's saying I can no longer be in the same place with you because of your sin, but I don't want it to be that way. I want to be back again and remember.

Speaker 1:

The overall focus of Ezekiel is God's promise of renewal. So what can we take as an application point today? And that is this Pray for God to return in your life. If you're going through a season right now where you feel God's closeness like never before and things are going great, then don't take it for granted. Enjoy the presence of God. That's what God wants you to do. If you're going through a season where you feel stagnant and you feel like that God's not close and not near, pray and ask the Lord to make himself fresh and new in your life. Because here's the thing even if you think the glory of the Lord has departed from you, he's not far at all and he has put his word here to remind you that God wants to renew everything in your life. God might just be one prayer away from experiencing him like never before. Let's pray together right now.

Speaker 1:

God, thank you so much for your word, which shows us the good, the bad and sometimes the ugly. Sometimes it's scary. It is scary to think, god, that you would leave and not show us your presence. For God, your word says that it's in your presence that we find fullness of joy. For some of us, god, we're experiencing that joy and we celebrate that and never want to take it for granted. For others, we feel like we have lost your glory. We have lost you in our life. I pray, god, that you will bring your glory back to us. Help us to experience you like never before. We celebrate you in advance. In Jesus' name, we pray Amen. Anyway, what God's Word says in Ezekiel 34, verse 14, I will put my spirit in you and you will live again. My prayer is you experience God fresh and new every single day. I love you. I'll see you tomorrow. For Ezekiel, chapter 11.
