The More We Dig. The More We Find.

Speaker 1:

Well, everybody, welcome back to the Bible Breakdown Podcast with your host, pastor Brandon. Today, ezekiel chapter 13,. And today's title is Bob's Going to Get you. Bob is going to get you and hopefully that will make sense in just a moment, but I got to do a little background story first. But if you want to go ahead and get your Bible open to Ezekiel chapter 13, if you're new around here, while you're doing that, make sure you take just a second pause. This and like share, subscribe to the YouTube channel and the podcast. Make sure you leave us a five-star review on the podcast it really does help and make sure you're going to the Bible breakdown discussion on Facebook. Make sure you're commenting on those, because it really is a wonderful way for us to interact with one another. Well, once again, if you have your Bibles, I want to open up with me to Ezekiel chapter 13. I need to go ahead and explain kind of what I mean by Bob's gonna get you, and that is because of this that the overall idea here is is we have a dog and her name is Maggie and she loves to sniff around in our front yard, like where we have some flowers and stuff beside our house, and that is also a place where we have a wild rabbit that likes to hang out, and our family has affectionately named this wild rabbit Bob right, and we have a hard time getting Maggie to not hang out and mess with our flowers and all this kind of stuff, and so we're like we would tell her, we would say Maggie, you need to get away from the flowers. Say yo, come over here, maggie, this kind of stuff. She wouldn't listen to us a bit in the world. Well, one day, while she was in there, this rabbit comes out and I don't know what that rabbit did to her. I don't know if that rabbit, you know, hurt her feelings, uh said, uh, uh, yo mama joke to her. I did something to her, cause I don't know what rabbits can do to hurt anything, but it scared our dog, maggie, half to death. And so now all we have to do and I'd have no idea what part of this she understands but all we have to do is we have to say hey, maggie, you better come on. Bob's going to get you. And when I tell you that she will leave the flower bed, that's the level of wimp that our dog is, that we use the threat of a bunny rabbit to scare our dog into obedience. I don't know what that says about our dog or about us as a family unit, but that's what happens is the is. When she realizes that Bob is on his way, she comes over here. She realizes I don't want none of Bob, right?

Speaker 1:

Well, here's, here's the thing that we're going to read about today, and that is that God is telling the people you are not paying attention to me, you are not paying attention to what my prophets are saying. As a matter of fact, you have got these false prophets and these false sorcerers, and apparently all the sorcerers were female. So you got these false female sorcerers, you got these false prophets and they all think they know me, but they're not listening to me. But I'm coming, and when I come and do what I'm going to do, then you're going to know who I am. So it's almost like my dog Maggie I am. So it's almost like my dog Maggie, like now we just have to say Bob's coming and she runs. Well, he's. God is saying that by the time I'm finished, all that someone's got to hear is Yahweh is here and you're going to know who I am, and so it's just it's. It's awesome the way God is just saying I've had enough. So let's read this together today and let's see what God's word would say to us. God's word says this in Ezekiel 13, verse 1.

Speaker 1:

Then the message came to me from the Lord, son of man prophesy against the false prophets of Israel who are inventing their own prophecies, and say to them listen to the word of the Lord. This is what the sovereign Lord says. What sorrow awaits the false prophets who are following their own imaginations and have seen nothing at all. The people of Israel, these prophets of yours, are like jackals digging in the ruins. They have done nothing to repair the breaks in the walls around the nation. They have not helped it to stand firm in the battle on the day of the Lord. Instead, they have told lies and made false prophecies. And they say this message is from the Lord, even though the Lord has never sent them, and yet they expect him to fulfill their prophecies. Can your visions be anything but false if you claim this is a message from the Lord, when I have not spoken to you.

Speaker 1:

Therefore, this is what the sovereign Lord says. Because what you say is false and your visions are a lie, I will stand against you, says the Lord. I will raise my fist against all the prophets who see false visions and make lying predictions. They will be banished from the community of Israel. I will blot out their names from Israel's record books and they will never again set foot in their own land. And then you will know that I am the sovereign Lord. This will happen because these evil prophets deceive my people by saying all is peaceful when there is no peace at all.

Speaker 1:

It is as if people have built a flimsy wall. These prophets are trying to reinforce it by covering it with whitewash. Tell these whitewashers that their wall will soon fall down. A heavy rainstorm will determine it and great hailstones and mighty winds will knock it down. And when the wall falls, the people will cry out what happened to your whitewash? Therefore, this is what the sovereign Lord says I will sweep away your whitewashed wall with a storm of indignation, with great floods of anger and with hell stones of fury. I will break down your wall to its foundation and when it falls, it will crush you. And then you will know that I am the Lord. At last, my anger against the wall and all those who covered it with whitewash will be satisfied. And then I will say to you the wall and those who whitewashed it are both gone. They were lying prophets who claimed peace would come to Jerusalem when there was no peace.

Speaker 1:

I, the sovereign Lord, have spoken. You know what that sounds like, guys. That sounds like God is saying I done, had enough. I've had enough of this mess, this foolishness. But now he's got more to say for these false female prophets.

Speaker 1:

Verse 17 says Now, son of man. Other words hey, buddy, speak out against the women who prophesy from their own imaginations. This is what the sovereign Lord says. What sorrow awaits you, women who are ensnaring the souls of my people, young and old alike. Imaginations this is what the Sovereign Lord says. And among my people, for a few handfuls of barley or a piece of bread, by lying to my people who love to listen to lies, you kill those who should not die and promise life to those who should not live. This is what the Sovereign Lord says.

Speaker 1:

I am against your magic charms, which you use to ensnare my people like birds. I will tear them down. I will tear them from your arms, setting my people free like birds set free from a cage. I will tear off the magic veils and save my people from your grasp. They will no longer be your victims, and then you will know that I am the Lord. You have discouraged the righteous with your lies, but I didn't want them to be sad. You have encouraged the wicked by promising them life, even though they continue in their sins. Because of all this, you will no longer talk of visions that you never saw, nor will you make predictions, for I will rescue my people from your grasp, and then you will know that I am the Lord.

Speaker 1:

Wow, god had had enough. Okay, and so just like, just like when I want Maggie to get out of the flower bed. She had a bad encounter with a bunny rabbit named Bob, and now all we got to do is say, hey, bob's coming, bob's gonna get you. And she comes running. God is saying by the time, I'm finished with you. You know these evil prophets and evil prophetesses, these. It's like God saying I don't care, I don't care who you are, okay, you're telling false prophecies. Yahweh's gonna get you, I'm coming after you, and you know what I love. I love how, when it ends, it says I am going to rescue my people from your grasp, and then you're going to know that I am. In other words, you're going to know what real power looks like when I come and do business.

Speaker 1:

And can I tell you that's the kind of God that we serve, that there are seasons and situations that, because of things we don't always understand, situations that, because of things we don't always understand, god many times will allow us to live in the tension of bad people looking like they're getting ahead. You ever felt that before? You ever felt that tension of wait a minute. I'm trying to serve God, I'm trying to do the right thing. Why does it seem like everybody else is getting ahead but not me? Why does it seem like you're allowing evil to prosper? Why are these things happening, god, for seasons.

Speaker 1:

There are times, and I think some of it has to do with the fact that we forget that even villains are God's children, and so, because of his kindness, god will give them time to repent as well. But there comes a time when God says I'm coming and I'm going to wreck shop. I'm going to do what needs to be done, and then you will know that I am the Lord. And so the comfort that gives us is to realize that evil will not last always. God's got a plan.

Speaker 1:

God is doing more than we realize, and so our job in this is to be faithful, is to not give up. And so if you're in a situation right now where it seems like everybody who's doing good is getting behind and everybody who is doing bad is getting ahead, don't give up. Don't give up because God is coming, his glory is coming, his presence is coming, his justice is coming, and he may not come when you want him, but he's always right on time, is coming, and he may not come when you want him, but he's always right on time. And God is saying in Ezekiel, he's saying hey, you guys have taken my kindness as I'm not going to be faithful. I'm going to be faithful, and when I'm done, you're going to know Yahweh was here, and I believe that still true for us today. Don't give up, because when God's done, everybody's going to know Yahweh was here.

Speaker 1:

Let's pray, god. Thank you so much for today. Thank you, god, that you're with us and you're for us. And Lord, maybe somebody is listening or watching this today and they're going through a season of just. They don't understand. They don't understand why you are seemingly allowing evil to triumph. God, we know that you are good in all things and you don't move according to our timeframe, but you see more and are doing more than we can understand. Help us, lord, to stay faithful. Help us, lord, to not give up, but to know that, when the time is right, nothing can stop you from doing what you have come to do. We celebrate you and we trust you In Jesus' name. We pray amen, amen. But God's word says in Ezekiel 34, verse 14, I will put my spirit in you and you will live again. My prayer is you'll experience the real life of God every day in your life. I love you. I'll see you tomorrow for Ezekiel, chapter 14.
