Ep 31 Chicago O’Hare Airport

Hello and welcome back to the UFO and Aliens Podcast.  I’m your host Rick Black.  And Happy New Year.  2024 is here and I hope it is a great year for you. Before we start on today’s story, I would like to share some of the latest news in the world of UFOs.

First, Scott Waring, who is a huge UFO enthusiast claims that he has spotted an alien on Mars watching the Mars rover.  He’s been scouring images from NASAs rover and found this human looking figure lying down looking at the rover. The figure is wearing a black uniform, has a pink face, brown hair and looks like it is wearing what looks like a backpack.  If you’re a hammer, everything’s a nail.  When I look at the picture, the first thing I see is something that could definitely be mistaken for a human form. It’s not really that clear, but it could be a human form.  But, looking where the feet would be I see the exact same color and the same texture of the rock face right next to it.  When I focus on that, it becomes very clear that it is just a formation on the rock. Easy

Next, the Las Vegas family that claimed there were 8 foot aliens in their back yard share drawings of the aliens. The picture is drawn with a pencil and shaded in with pencil. The eldest son Angel drew the picture and said that he was trying to keep the color accurate to what he had seen. I think Angel is around 18 years old. It’s a pretty rudimentary drawing of a humanoid figure.  It doesn’t seem like a news flash to me, but the Independent thought it was newsworthy and wrote an article about it.

I already talked about the big stories of 2023. NASA takes UFOs seriously, the pentagon has hearings on UFOs, Mexican congress has hearings on UFOs and aliens, the UFO whistle blower and the Alien mummies allegedly found in Mexico, so no need to rehash that. It was definitely a full year of UFO stories.

I’m going to start this year with a UFO case from November 7th 2006. At approximately 4:30 p.m. central time Federal authorities at O’Hare Airport received a report that approximately a dozen witnesses were observing a small, round disc-shaped object, metallic in appearance, which hovered over Gate C17 at that airport.

The object was first spotted by an employee, working on the ramp, who was engaged in "pushing back" Flight 446, departing Chicago for Charlotte, NC. The employee reported to his supervisors that the object appeared to be almost directly above his location at Gate C17, it appeared to be perfectly round, and that its size was approximately equal to a U. S. quarter, held at arm's length. The object had a metallic appearance, according to the first witness, and it appeared to him to be spinning.
The first witness alerted the flight crew of Flight 446 of the existence of the object above their aircraft, and it is believed that both the pilot and copilot were witness to the bizarre object, as well. The witness also contacted his supervisors, who also witnessed the object, which was visible for approximately 2 minutes.
At the end of that time, the object was seen to suddenly accelerate straight up at a very rapid pace, and it "shot" through the solid overcast, which was at 1,900 feet at the time. The witness added that the object appeared to leave a "hole" in the clouds, where it had streaked upwards through the overcast.
Both the Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration were apprised of the event at the time it was occurring, and personnel in one, or more, of the towers at O'Hare may have witnessed the object, possibly with binoculars. The FAA apparently reported that the object was not visible on radar, although that fact has not been confirmed.

(a note from the National UFO Reporting Center states: This individual was interviewed, at length, by one of the investigators involved in the follow-up investigation. The investigators were highly impressed with the witness's credentials, and with the accurate description of the event. We deem this witness to be highly credible.)

A worker came forward with this statement:

“Ok I have been hesitant about talking about this, but after hearing the report on Coast to Coast AM with Mr. Norey I can not be silent. I work for a major airline at OHare, I am a taxi mechanic. I have the job responsibility of moving aircraft under their own power from gate to gate or the hangar complex for maintenance. We also accomplish the engine run-up testing needed. So I hope that does something for establishing a little of credibility for my report. I am still in absolute wonder and amazement at what I saw that afternoon.

Around 1630 a pilot made a comment on the radio about a circle or disc shapped object hovering over gate C-17 at the C concourse in Chicago. At first we laughed to each other and then the same pilot said again on the radio that is was about 700feet agl (above ground level). The day was overcast with the ceiling being reported at 1600 feet if I remember correctly. I was taxing a Boeing 777 from the Intl Terminal to the Company Hanger on the North side of the Airport. As we passed the C Terminal on the Alpha taxiway we observed a dark gray hazy round object hovering over OHare Intl Airport. It was definitely over the C Terminal. It was holding very steady and appeared to be trying to stay close to the cloud cover. The radio erupted with chatter about the object and the ATC controller that was handling ground traffic made a few smart comments about the alleged UFO sitting above the C terminal.
We had to continue moving the aircraft to the hangar. After parking I noticed the craft was no longer there but there was an almost perfect circle in the cloud layer were the craft had been. The hole disappeared a few minutes later.
For the rest of the night there were jokes made on the radio about the sighting.
This is the headline in the paper:

Airline Workers At O'Hare Report Spotting UFO
FAA Dismisses Reported Sighting As Weather Phenomenon…of course they did.
The article in the Chicago Tribune reads:
Call it a close encounter of the O'Hare kind.
Some airline workers reported seeing a mysterious, elliptical-shaped craft over O'Hare International Airport last fall but say their bosses and the government wouldn't take them seriously.
The Federal Aviation Administration has dismissed the reported Nov. 7 sighting by United Airlines employees as a likely weather phenomenon.
United spokeswoman Megan McCarthy said there is no record of the UFO report and company officials don't recall discussing any such incident.
That doesn't sit well with the employees, who are upset that neither United nor the FAA investigated the incident.
A group of workers, including pilots, told the Chicago Tribune on condition of anonymity in remarks published Monday that they saw a dark gray, flying saucer-like object hover motionless in the sky above the United terminal around 4:30 p.m. that day.
After several minutes, the object -- described variously at 6 feet to 24 feet in diameter -- bolted noiselessly upward through thick clouds so powerfully that it left an eerie hole in the clouds.
The FAA acknowledged that a United supervisor called its air-traffic control tower at O'Hare, asking if controllers had spotted a spinning disc-shaped object. FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory said no controllers saw it and a preliminary check of radar found nothing out of the ordinary.
"Our theory on this is that it was a weather phenomenon," she said. "That night was a perfect atmospheric condition in terms of low (cloud) ceiling and a lot of airport lights. When the lights shine up into the clouds, sometimes you can see funny things."
Funny is just how some controllers in the tower view the incident.
"To fly 7 million light years to O'Hare and then have to turn around and go home because your gate was occupied is simply unacceptable," said O'Hare controller and union official Craig Burzych.

Second Associated Press news article on the O'Hare UFO.

A UFO at O'Hare? Some pilots thought so
CHICAGO - Federal officials say it was probably just some weird weather phenomenon, but a group of United Airline employees swear they saw a mysterious, saucer-shaped craft hovering over O'Hare Airport last fall.
The workers, some of them pilots, said the object didn't have lights and hovered over an airport terminal before shooting up through the clouds, according to a report in Monday's Chicago Tribune.
The Federal Aviation Administration acknowledged that a United supervisor had called the control tower at O'Hare, asking if anyone had spotted a spinning disc-shaped object. But the controllers didn't see anything, and a preliminary check of radar found nothing out of the ordinary. Then the article quotes FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory again.
((NUFORC Note: This report is a revised version of the original report submitted by this party, or parties. It was revised at NUFORC's request, in order to disguise the person submitting the report. The report accurately addresses the event, although we are satisfied that the person, or persons, who submitted the report cannot be identified from it. The above facts may be a synthesis of what dozens of individuals saw, summarized by one, or more, persons, who were witness to the activities surrounding the incident.

There was another witness that came forward to report the sighting and it reads:
I'm a management employee for a major airline and was sitting in my office at around 1630 on Nov. 7th when an employee made a radio call to our station operations center concerning an object hovering over gate C17 at O'hare International Airport. I ran out of my office and saw a relatively small object hovering in place over C17. The METAR was reporting OVC 1900 and I initially estimated the object hovering at about 1000 feet. After about a minute, I saw the aircraft zip to the east and disappeared.
I immediately called our operations center to confirm the sighting and the FAA was contacted while I drove to the other concourse to talk with the witnesses. I spoke with an employee working that gate who said he was compelled to look straight up for some reason and was startled to see the craft hovering silently. He then made the radio call and notified the pilots at that gate who opened the front windows and witnessed the object for themselves. The employee stated the object was 500-1000 feet above the ground, rotating, and metallic in nature with no lights. He said it looked like a frisbee and was directly above.
The FAA reported no radar blips and I believe the TSA was notified. Our shift manager was notified and the incident was immediately reported to our WHQ Operations Center.
All employees are very familiar with aircraft around the world's busiest airport - this was nothing we are familiar with. As a side note as it is probably unrelated, the next aircraft into that gate was experiencing electrical problems.

And yet another witness finds a chat room where he can talk about the incident anonymously:

Okay. I’m not good at chat, but here goes.
I work for United like you guessed by now.
We were ferrying a load of late bags for a 727 to F12 or 14, I don't remember now, when I saw what I thought was a widebody running off course out of the corner of my eye. When I looked up there it was just sitting there, a gray shiny thing pretty high up, more than 1000 feet.
At first we thought it was really far away, because it was hard to focus on it, but it shifted left and right a couple times and that’s when we knew it wasn't too far away. I looked up at the 727 cockpit and pointed to it then the crew saw it and was staring at it too. The pilot got on his radio and waving his arms like he was going nuts over what he was seeing. We figured it was a fat disc, like a M & M, about 20 feet wide but it was really hard to tell for sure because it was almost the same color as the clouds and if you looked away it was hard to find it and focus again. One of our crew ran to his locker to get his cellphone to take a picture.
It hung there moving really slightly from side to side for about another minute when we all felt our hair stand on end, and it just shot straight up into the clouds faster than anything we ever seen. It disturbed the clouds, like it made a big shockwave and we could see sunlight for a bit. We never got a picture but I don't think it would have come out very good anyway.
We could see a few other rats staring up at the hole and everyone was talking about it for a few days. Then the sups came and talked to all of us that we can’t talk about this to anyone or we'd get fired. They said something about federal regulations and unauthorized reporting of false airspace breeches.
Last week, the sups came down again and reminded everyone about the regulations. That’s what made me think there’s more to the story so I started searching online. I play pool with a buddy who told me about this website chat room so here I am.
I always thought people who believe in aliens were crazy but I don't know what that thing was. We see lots of aircraft come in even the fancy stuff that stays in the air when the President lands, but this thing was like nothing none of us ever saw.

 ----------------------------
and there’s  part two to this report.
 Pt. 2

The clouds were normal low ceiling overcast so I don't know how thick. From where we were, we couldn't see directly up the hole the thing made but there was definitely sunlight inside the hole so it went all the way through the clouds. And yes it looked like the hole was made by the thing as it went up.
I'm pretty sure the sup's words were unauthorized reporting of false airspace breech but it might be something slightly different. But it was. We knew they wanted us to treat the thing as some freak weather and not a UFO.
I don't think there is a risk if you say they can't trace me here.
When our hair stood on end, I'm certain it was just a couple seconds before it took off into the clouds like there was some build up of something. It felt like the static electricity of pulling off a sweater.
I don't think there are any pictures since none of us carry anything like a camera with us but a few people now are. We all talk about it almost every day and if there were pictures it would help us because the people that didn't see it are getting pissed and think we're all crazy.
Two other rats from C thought the thing flew away to the east but most of us saw it go straight up. The boss from C thinks this might mean there were maybe two different things or the same thing showing up two different times. I'll find those guys and ask them today.

 Pt. 3

I don't think the thing was directly over C at least it didn't look that way to us. I've never been in the tower so I don't know if there is a way to look up but I think it would be hard to see the thing from the tower but I can't say for sure.
No one wants to talk about this so I don't think anyone is going to say anything. I haven’t even told anyone I'm chatting here.
I now know what you guys are talking about with disclosure. I never knew anything about UFO stuff until now. I can say that when we talk about it that it's a mixed bag where some people think it's aliens and others think it's a secret craft of our own.
What are you talking about with an IP address? I'm not so sharp with this stuff, my hobby is woodworking not computers.
If I report this to the www.mufon.com or www.nuforc.org people will I need to give them my name and personal info? If so, I won't do it.
That picture you posted is not from where we saw it, and the weather is wrong.
We were concerned about the airspace breech too. Some of us are getting angry with this being hushed up with all the terrorism and TSA idiots hanging around. If we see a funny looking bag all damn hell breaks loose but park a funny silver thing a few hundred feet above a busy airport and everyone tries to hush it up. It just don’t make sense.
We all think it was too small for a space ship too and that’s why some of them think it’s something we made. Like one of those radio control drones they use in Iraq.
You say that you’d tell your boss to screw it if he told you not to say anything but hell I got kids and rats are rats because there’s not much else we're qualified to do and the pay is pretty good for a luggage tester. hah! But we do have a contract that says we can't discuss company secrets and anything our sups tell us is a secret and we think they’re trying to make sure we know they think this is a secret.
We think there should be an investigation so we can feel better about seeing what we saw. I want to know why funny looking bags are more important than strange objects in the sky.
No one we know has any photo.
You guys were chatting a lot between yourselves so I think I got all your questions. I'll check in again in the morning. Thanks it feels better being able to tell someone about this.

I can answer his questions about questionable bags. UFOs have not appeared to be a threat, but people have been. I would be more afraid of a human doing me harm than any wild animal or unknown entity from space.

This incident was seen by so many people that you have to take it seriously. It was reported by CNN, the Associated Press, NPR, The Chicago Tribune, Journalist Leslie Kean and Richard Dolan, who is a very well known UFO historian was interviewed on Glen Becks show.

Yet, it was just brushed away by the FAA and airport management as “nothing to see here”.  And it looks like they were threatened with their jobs if they talked about it.  What’s all that about?  I don’t think anybody believed the weather phenomenon theory at all.  There was something there in the sky hovering above the airport and a lot of people saw it.  The fact that it shot up through the clouds and made a hole in the clouds is really fascinating.  It makes the weather phenomenon sound unlikely. Reflections don’t make holes in clouds.

I believe this really happened. I don’t know what it was. It could have been a drone from a different dimension or something that came here through a wormhole. I don’t know.  But I do believe there was something there that no one can explain.

What do you think?
