Seiyuu  no sekai wo tabi suru seiyuu  desu.

Anata ga seiyuu no michi wo aruki-hajimeta bakari demo,  mōtto fukai tokoro made kita hito demo, kono podcast dewa, booth no naka kara takusan no kei ken,  manabi,  warai ya chōsen wo kyōyū shimasu.

Segment 1: [ Why would a person subject themselves to the uncertainty of this profession?/ ]

This is a good question. Why do people continue to run marathons who are not professional athletes and the multitudes of people who climb mountains but work regular 9 to 5 jobs and must take vacation time and pay for the privilege to do this? I don’t know why other people do this but I’m doing it because it’s fun, entertaining and not the norm for myself. Some people will say they’re creative types and love art etc… The reasons are many but the reality is people are going to do what they’re going to do and reasonableness may not have anything to do with the choice. 

Kono shitsumon ga ii desu nee. Naze hitotachi wa, professional de wa nai noni, marathon o hashittari yama-nobori o shitari suru n desu ka. Kono katagata ga shigoto de mainichi o ikimasu. Kesa Kyu-ji kara gogo go-ji made. Kono katagata wa, korera no katsudou ni sanka suru tame ni shigoto no yasumi o toranakereba narazu, kyuuryou wa shiharawaremasen. Hoka no hito-tachi ni tsuite wa, naze souiu koto o suru no ka wakarimasen ga, watashi wa tanoshii kara yatte imasu. Riyuu wa takusan arimasu ga, jissai wa hito wa jibun no yaritai koto o suru mono de, gouri-sei wa sono sentaku ni kankei nai kamo shirenai desu ne.

You can state that you will become a known VA and conquer the video game, anime, and commercial VA world but that doesn’t mean it will happen. Why? Because you are in control of only so much. You audition, you get coaching, you audition and get coaching rinse and repeat but remember getting selected is subjective not objective. You can hit every queue, every pause, and pronounce each word impeccably but your voice just may not fit the character you’re going for. Don’t cry, don’t pout, or whine for more than 5 minutes over losing an audition or not hearing back from a submission. Just keep auditioning and learning where you can. As has been said to me in the past, auditioning is the work and the gig is payoff.

Yuumei na seiyuu ni nattari, geemu, anime, CM no seiyuu no sekai o seihaku suru to sengen suru koto wa dekimasu ga, dakara to itte sore ga jitsugen suru wake dewa arimasen. Naze nara, jibun de kontorooru dekiru koto wa kagararete iru kara desu. Audishon o uke, kouchingu o uke, mata audishon o uke, kouchingu o ukeru... sore no kurikaeshi desu ga, erabareru koto wa kyokkan-teki dewa naku, shukan-teki da to iu koto o oboete ite kudasai. Subete no kyuu ya ma o pitari to awase, hitotsu hitotsu no kotoba o kanpeki ni hatsuon dekitashite mo, anata no koe ga mezasu kyarakutaa ni awanai kamo shirenai desu. Audishon ni ochitari, teishutsu saki kara renraku ga nakattari shite mo, go-fun ijou naitari, sunetari, guchi o iitari shinai de kudasai.  Tada audishon o tsuduke, dekiru tokoro kara manabi tsudukete kudasai. Kako ni watashi ga iwareta touri, audishon o ukeru koto ga shigoto de, gigu wa go-houbi desu.

I know you have heard people say to not have a contingency plan because if you do you have already given up and you anticipate failure.  Go all in and you’ll make it happen. The choice is yours but I prefer to be prepared so I do what I need to do to reach my end goals. If that means working a 9 to 5 to pay the bills, eat and lower my stress than I will. The people I attend class with, and meet up online to practice have jobs, are in school or have some other way of making income to support themselves and family. You can call voice acting a side hustle or that you are doing it as a hobby. There’s nothing wrong with that, plenty of hobbyists/amateurs in other walks of life so you're not different or abnormal.

Relax, take a deep breath, keep calm and carry on.

Naze nara sore o tsukuru to iu koto wa, sude ni akiramete ite shippai o yosou shite iru kara da" to iu iken o, minasan mo kiita koto ga aru to omoimasu.  enryoku o tsukuseba, kitto jitsugen dekimasu.  Sentaku wa anata shidai desu ga, watashi wa junbi o shite okitai node, saishuu mokuhyou o tassei suru tame ni hitosuyou na koto o shimasu.  Sore ga, shiharai o shite, gohan o tabete, sutoresu o herasu tame ni ku-ji go-ji de hataraku to iu koto nara, watashi wa sou shimasu.  Watashi ga issho ni kurasu o uke, renshuu no tame ni onrain de aatte iru hito-tachi wa, shigoto o shite itari, gakkou ni kayotte itari, jibun ya kazoku o sasaeru tame ni hoka no shuunyuu no shudan o motte itari shimasu.  Seiyuu o fukugyou to yondari, shumi to shite yatte iru to iuttari suru koto mo dekimasu. Sore wa nani mo warukunai desu. Hoka no bunya ni mo shumika ya amachua wa takusan iru node, anata wa hoka to chigattari, ijou dattari suru wake dewa arimasen.

Rirakkusu shite, shin-kokyuu o shite, reisei o tamachi, tsudukete kudasai.
