The MOSO: We're turning up the volume
The MOSO Podcast is the unapologetic voice of micro and solo business owners, those building big dreams from the ground up, often with limited resources but limitless ambition. Created by Monique LaRue, founder of The MOSO Nation, the podcast celebrates the MOSO Mentality—the unwavering resilience, creativity, and hustle it takes to keep going, even when the world doesn’t see you (yet).
Each episode turns up the volume on the economic power of MOSOs through real stories, reflective solo episodes, and candid conversations that highlight how micro and solo business owners are not only surviving but also shaping the future of work, wealth, and community.
From building a brand while caregiving, to launching your next big thing with just grit and a Gmail account, The MOSO Podcast is your space to feel seen, stay inspired, and remember that micro doesn’t mean minor—it means movement.
Turn Up the Volume. Live the MOSO Life.

Ep. 6 Mike Buckman + Monique LaRue: It's good to be SEEN: A DEI Perspective with a Former CEO
Listen, I am super excited to have this conversation with my buddy of over 20+ years and my champion Mike Buckman.
Mike Buckman is the driving force behind Buckman Consulting LLC, a trailblazing firm specializing in travel, logistics, and payment systems. Mike has left an indelible mark on the industry with remarkable career-spanning leadership roles.
Before launching his consulting venture in 2009, Mike's journey was intertwined with innovation. His tenure at BCD Travel saw him rise to President of Asia/Pacific and, before that, CEO from 2001 to 2007. Earlier, he steered the ship at Worldspan as CEO from 1995 to 1999. His strategic vision also shaped the landscapes of iconic brands like Homestore.com, American Express, Sabre Travel Services, and American Airlines.
Amidst this impressive portfolio, Mike's legacy extends far beyond corporate titles. His open-door ethos, a defining trait during his tenure as CEO at Worldspan, impacted my life as a young black female professional. Against all odds, Mike's unexpected response to my introduction email led to a transformative lunch discussing my aspirations. His genuine gesture resonated deeply, becoming a cornerstone in my professional journey as chronicled in my book, "Baby Your Gift Will Make Room for You." Our bond, nurtured over time, flourished into a friendship I will always cherish.
Mike Buckman is a humble and true champion who embodies the spirit of breaking barriers and fostering connections.
"Stay connected, stay mindful."
