SPEAKER_00Last week left off, our friends have been traveling deep into the woods while they have been in the heartlands, eventually making their way to a town called Eldoria with the help of Tamison, uh, who they found along with the leader of a kind of Ranger Scout warrior group uh from Eldoria, who was by the name of Lake, uh through a little conversation and helping and assisting slightly in a combat, uh, they helped guide you guys to Eldoria where they you guys were able to discuss and kind of share information that you guys had. Uh, while this was happening, Tamson let you guys know that part of the group that they were currently fighting, uh, the broken spear uh was fighting uh a group or another tribe known by uh the Twin Hounds that was gain or getting assistance, and they were kind of motivated to attack Eldoria uh because of the blue dragonborn who you guys have faced uh just a few days before back in the Sky Fang range. Uh you finally got to enter the city, a city made up of giant tree houses, uh, literally, where all of these massive, massive trees were fused together to create homes and buildings uh at the very center, an even larger tree that fully overshadowed this town. Uh, at the very center, you were led towards the center by Lake uh and Tamson, where you got to meet uh uh Lova, who is the matriarch uh of this of this town, and let you all know that she also you discovered that she also at some point used to travel with Cavino back when Kavino had a different name. Uh, and she lets you know a little bit about his past uh and her past back when you guys would travel together. But uh she lets you know that you are more than welcome to stay the night here. Uh, and you guys could probably share a little more information. Uh, but before you could go and get any rest, the sound of horns in the distance indicating approaching danger resounded, and that is where we are now. Oh, the horns continue on in various parts in the distance, if they don't sound nearby, and Lake looks to all of you. Uh Lova is still holding on to uh to Lake's arm, but you guys ended up kind of in this small room. Uh Lake looks to you guys and says, the scouts are notifying us that there's danger approaching. I must looks to Lova. I must speak with my men. Yes, yes, of course, of course. Um, I will hear get start preparations for any approaching danger. Please fill us in. Uh and looks to uh all of you and just says, You of course are always welcome to leave, but I have a feeling that whatever danger is approaching, you are all seeking the same thing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think you're right. Uh can I can I come with you? Uh yes, of course.
SPEAKER_05Do we hear this?
SPEAKER_01This is a yeah, it's all on the roof.
SPEAKER_05Why do you say I? Let's all come and help.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I wasn't implying that you guys can't. Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_00Whenever I just accepted that whenever Pierce talks, he's always speaking in the royal. So whenever he says I, it's all of us. So I.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly. Exits out. Yeah, I'm I'm running after him or I'm jogging or whatever kind of pace he's picked up.
SPEAKER_05Um we start yelling this conversation so they hear us while we're like behind them.
SPEAKER_00As soon as you guys exit out, uh, because you guys had been there for not an incredibly long time, but as stories were progressing, it was already a little bit later in the day. Uh, the sun is starting to set. You immediately are uh outside back in the cold, and everything has a blue glow. Uh as you guys look up, some of the trees of like from you know the buildings and stuff, some of the like in the grand scheme of things, pretty large trees, but compared to this massive tree that you guys uh uh there's like a building and the tree right behind it. Uh, but as soon as you guys exit out, uh, a lot of the trees have leaves that are this bioluminescent blue. Uh, you guys look directly above where the tree, this main principal tree is, and the foliage is absolutely illuminated. Uh, any leaf uh that you guys can see is just this bright blue glow, kind of creates this ephemeral glow that you guys are suddenly basked in uh as you guys are following Lake. Uh one of the scouts that you guys had seen traveling, uh one of the uh three survivors, Lake included, uh you guys recognize him. He makes his way to your group, uh, sees Lake, and as you he could is walking alongside with you guys, he says, Lake, they there's been uh reports of multiple groups approaching. Um we're suspecting they're coming from about three different directions. Um they're all about a few hours away, but they're they're starting to approach Eldoria. Understood. Uh, we must be in preparations. Uh we will begin uh gathering families to the trees. Uh and then he's like, okay. Um, and then that person kind of darts out, uh, looks to you, uh, all three of you guys. Uh, and Tamson is uh running alongside as well. Uh he looks to you guys and just says, uh, the first thing is the people must be taken to safety. Uh we will take them to to the tree. Right. What what what part of the tree are we taking them in inside of the tree or just to the base? There is in uh close to the building where we were, uh where Lova resides, uh, there is a small sanctuary, uh, a grove uh at the base of the tree. Uh we will take them there for safety.
SPEAKER_04Um we can start gathering people. I'm gonna be silent. Got it.
SPEAKER_01Uh do you need our do you need all of our help to do that?
SPEAKER_05I mean what can we do? Direct us in any way that we can help.
SPEAKER_01Start gathering people to the grove. Got it.
SPEAKER_05Hi, Captain.
SPEAKER_01I think we best that we split up.
SPEAKER_00We should we should split up?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think so. To cover as much area and get people to the grove as quickly as possible. I mean, we'll we can all end up back at the grove to to kind of reconvene.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Uh I go uh this way and I just pick a direction and start running.
SPEAKER_05I go the other way.
SPEAKER_00Go the opposite way. And and then the tree where you guys were at, the I mean, the hard part about it is since it is purely central to the town as a whole, um uh any direction you head is into town, um, which is kind of nice. Uh go ahead as you guys are going, go ahead and give me uh you guys are in your own individual directions. Go ahead and give me perception checks, and go ahead and give me persuasion checks.
SPEAKER_04So, perception check.

SPEAKER_05Uh let's start with a bad one. Um, perception. No, no, no, persuasion check six. Uh perception check, not 20 plus nine, 29.
SPEAKER_01Very cool. Wow. Um, I got a 11 for perception and then a dirty 20 for persuasion.
SPEAKER_00Uh for everybody that um as the horns are sounding, there's kind of a terrified look. Uh, for the some of you guys that got the uh because for Val and for Pierce, what was your guys' persuasion?
SPEAKER_04Six six and for Pierce Persuasion was dirty twenty.
SPEAKER_00And then what was uh Buka's 24, I think. 24 cool. Um uh Val, you are noticing that people are terrified. Uh I'll say I know this is all happening simultaneously. Pierce and Buka, as you guys are finding families, uh, and again, it seems like multiple families kind of all reside uh in kind of like a you know, like a multiplex. Um, there seems to be that multiple families will kind of live in one giant tree. And uh you do notice that you know, as some people are outside as well, one of the families that uh that you see Buka looks to you terrified as they're like, what's happening? Don't worry, everything's fine. Uh, I'm just gonna have you uh head back towards the the tree uh and uh find sanctuary in the groves. The grove, okay, yes. Um mother protect us. This is never this has never happened before. Uh, and then I'll say that Buka and Pierce, you guys are hearing kind of this common thing of of like this has never happened before like, oh my god, like what could be happening? Um, like it seems that they've lived in relative peace this whole time. Well, you are finding that as you are knocking on doors, people are like refusing to to answer. With an at 20, you start to see families peeking through some of the windows. Um, and as you're looking around, like answer the damn door, you start to see uh, and this is as the sun is setting and you lose sight of it, uh, you start to see large plumes of smoke billowing from the woods in three different directions, opposite of each other, and they seem to be closing in from the distance. It's still some distance away. Well, you are an elf and you are a ranger, so you got good physical vision, but it seems like they're still a few hours out. Um, so it doesn't seem like they're gonna be getting there in the next couple of minutes. Uh, so you do feel like you have some time to do stuff, so preparations can take place. So you don't feel necessarily that things will end the next five minutes, but you are starting to feel the pressure as you see these these clouds of smoke approaching and families refusing to answer the door.
SPEAKER_05I think in this moment I get really frustrated, and when at one family store, I'm like, look out the damn window! I see you, please.
SPEAKER_04I'm not selling anything, I'm trying to bring you to safety.
SPEAKER_00You hear you hear a lock turn.
SPEAKER_05Whatever. Try the next house.
SPEAKER_00Cool, you leave them. Uh you see, kind of peeking through the windows, you see a family uh of of half elves uh as they're peeking through, and you can just see uh adding on with that nat 20, just fear in their eyes. Um, as uh obviously not aware of some of the conversations that Pierce and Buka are having. Uh, but it just seems like some think these families have never experienced this. Uh uh go ahead and give me one final round of persuasion checks as you guys are continuing to to gather people.
SPEAKER_04Um no.
SPEAKER_05The people don't want to spine.
SPEAKER_00I got a nineteen. Uh fifteen for me. Fifteen. Uh cool. Uh for Pierce and for Buka, go ahead and roll me uh uh two D ten.

SPEAKER_00Uh yeah, I got a ten.
SPEAKER_04Fifteen. Between my two rolls. Uh sorry, how much was it for Pierce? Fifteen. Fifteen? And I'm sorry, Val you're saying five. Cool.
SPEAKER_00Uh uh Buka, you're able to convince ten families to start heading to the grove. Uh Pierce, you are able to convince uh 15 families. Uh Val, you're able to convince five.
SPEAKER_05Yay.
SPEAKER_00Um you guys began to head back uh to the tree. Uh on the opposite side of where you guys were. Uh you see that Tamson is coordinating with some of the other uh it seems like scouts or warriors dressed similarly to the way that Lake is dressed. Um they're guiding people into this grove. Uh, go ahead and give me Arcana or religion checks. Both trash.
SPEAKER_05Both trash.
SPEAKER_00Oh okay. Arcana 16.
SPEAKER_05Religion 8.
SPEAKER_00I'll do religion 14. With a 16. As you guys are getting drawn uh bringing people in, I think Val and Pierce, I think you guys start to go very logical of kind of like cool, people need to go. Like, this is just the meeting safe space. Um, and I think you're just kind of uh helping Tamson direct, uh, as uh hundreds of people are are being guided in. Um uh you are at the base of the tree. You guys are on the opposite side of where the building where Lova was at. Uh the the grove itself is in a shallow bowl of earth. Bucko, you notice this that it is almost hidden away as the outskirts of it. Part of it are aspects of the tree that have continued to grow out. Parts root system, parts is is just flowering of the this massive tree itself. But it's almost like this small little like bowl of earth, ancient trees, smaller than the ones that people have been housed in. Um, kind of creating this near perfect circle. They're all the trunks are like thick and they're pale in color compared to the trees all around you. Uh, and as you're looking with a 16 arcana, you don't necessarily know exactly what it is, but you can tell that they're etched with like these almost like softened runes. They almost seem to be naturally made, almost like part of the growth itself. Uh, and I'll say with pierced and vales, you guys don't really like you guys see the physical parts of what you're seeing. You guys don't notice the runes. Um, but Buka, as you're kind of guiding people in, the runes don't glow in the same blue uh or in the same way that the leaves are of this massive tree, but they seem to have kind of this innate energy kind of coming from them. Just kind of like it just filters in. Uh, and all of you, as you are approaching this grove as they described it, uh, you guys just feel immediate peace. And as you guys start to step in, the air is warm, uh, and it's still uh sounds from the outside are muffled, and then so even at the wind, the movement of people, uh, it all seems to just kind of like it. You can still hear it, but it seems to go down a little bit. From the outside, did did it feel obscured by this? Like visually obscured, so like I could we couldn't tell necessarily what was inside, or is it does it just feel like um like sound as has been as you're asking that? You guys have been, you know, you guys are around, you guys have been going around town just trying to gather people. Now that you are physically headed there, there's this weird thing of oh, I didn't notice that before. And uh, and so you're unsure of was it the distraction of what was happening, or is there another glamour or another magical effect at work? You guys start to see wildlife here. This is the first time you guys have noticed wildlife around the area. Uh, you start to see uh birds hanging low as they are kind of chirping softly. There is deer uh and elk that are kind of standing at the edge. The the grove area itself is pretty large. Um uh the fact that it can fit, you know, at this point, there's probably close to 200 people here. Um, and the fact that it can fit people comfortably, just kind of to let you guys know the scale of it. Uh, but it just seems that the deer are at rest. You notice a small pond that has this uh like thick moss, white flowers kind of growing at the edge. Um, and there just seems to be a level of peace. It seems like predators do not exist in this space. Um and you notice at the very center a small fire uh has been lit as some families are starting to gather around that. Uh, you see Tamson look at you guys and just says, Okay, uh protection must be had. Uh you all uh uh will you will you all be okay? Can I assist you in any in any way?
SPEAKER_01Um I think I mean we we did what we could, but I don't know if I necessarily got every single family from uh the area that I covered. I mean, we're we're outsiders, so I did what I could. I just don't know if you maybe want to try to we have the time if you want to make kind of a lap around. They might trust you a little bit more.
SPEAKER_05You should focus on the area I was in. They really did not want to listen to me, and I am really upset about it.
SPEAKER_00Um I I can I can do my best, uh, but I think right now the biggest thing is gonna be making sure the preparations are set in place and that you all uh are are prepared for what's gonna come. And kind of lowers his voice a little bit and says, and for whatever battles may approach, uh I want to make sure that the people here are safe.

SPEAKER_00Uh you can tell from his like metallic skin that uh like sweat is starting to like bead uh on his forehead.
SPEAKER_01Is there is there anything else we can do for you in this moment? Uh I I mean we want to try to help the crowds and the people as much as we can before we we go meet back up at like.
SPEAKER_00Um no, I I I will I will join you all. Um there's warriors here that will be protecting the grove, and I think that they are well equipped, they know the grove. Um luckily there's a calm emotion spell. I know I seem a little tense. I'm sure the calm emotion spell is working, but uh at least here people will be calm. Um, and here's warding here that will keep people um protected a little bit at least.
SPEAKER_04Right.
SPEAKER_00Um, I know this feels like a very uh inopportune time. Uh is there a way for us to get a message out to a friend? In the meantime? Uh who's who's your friend? Uh well you might uh you have you do you she's like the queen uh her Queen Weaver of Alcor? The Numerian Queen.

SPEAKER_00Uh as uh as you guys are having this conversation, uh, Tamson is just kind of like the queen? Well, that's so impressive. Uh, and it seems his mind kind of uh doesn't get distracted, but it's just not as focused on this approaching danger. Uh, you guys see right outside of the grove, uh, maybe about 50 feet away, you see uh Lake and standing next to him is another warrior dressed in similar garb uh as him, uh, but just a little bit shorter. Uh uh Lake is probably around six two. Um, and then this person's like at six foot, uh, so just slightly above. Uh, but they seem to be having this heated uh conversation happening.
SPEAKER_04Heated conversation. Can I try to eavesdrop?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Uh I'll say like while you are within the grove, you probably will not be able to effectively uh hear anything. Okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna casually make my way out of the grove to yeah, and I mean people are people are moving, so it's not yeah, so it's not like you're a lone figure. Uh go ahead and give me stealth, and then go ahead and give me perception. Perfect.
SPEAKER_04Come on, big stealth. That's a 10.

SPEAKER_00Uh, I do have a plus nine in stealth. And then perception? So it's a one. Perception 23. Uh, the moment like you start to approach, Lake looks at you, and he is just pissed off uh that you're approaching him in this moment. Do I know I mean with my 23, I see him see me. Yes, immediately. I know uh do I know that he knows that I know that I'm headed towards him? He there's a lot of eye contact that has been made in this moment. Yeah, um he's like shakes his head. Uh, but you can tell he's still talking to the person in front of you. Uh it's like one of these where he's just like and he goes back. Uh I was like, but I think I'm just gonna give like hand motions, be like, Do you need do you need help? Or are you are you okay? I just don't have a couple okay. He's kind of looked away. Uh and again, there's like multiple people, so you're so you're it's not like you're just again a lone figure, you're not like a little kid that just threw up, you're not just standing there, yeah. Um and they're arguing pretty they're not arguing secretively, they're just arguing. Correct, yeah. Uh but you hear Yeah, no, no, yeah. Uh as this is happening, you hear Lake uh kind of mid yelling, just being, and you will die out there if you head out there now without the assistance of us, Talon will not be making it home. Is this what you want? And then uh the the slightly shorter uh uh individual just responds with, and what of it? We know that we are warriors and we must defend the tree no matter what, and then he kind of cuts him off a little bit as Lei continues and just says, and we will do so together. We have assistance, uh, and at this point looks over at Buka, who are not very discreet, but we have them, we have Lova, and we have the protection of the Moon Mother. I think I do I take the hint and I and I walk away. Uh as you walk away, yeah, uh, you hear the younger one uh who lake called Talon uh and says uh uh then do what you must. Uh and he uh as you head start heading the other direction, he starts to head in the other direction. Okay and starts to walk away. I run back to the group. Uh okay, so it sounds like their forces aren't they aren't divided into whether or not they should um fight. It's just whether or not they should go out and meet them or uh have them meet us in town. So yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um what do you what do you guys think?
SPEAKER_05I don't think they should meet us in town, because then the people are here. The citizens are.
SPEAKER_01It's not it's not just like an open space. Like it's a diff defensible. And I think that's what Lake is pushing for is to use the position as defense to help, because we might be outnumbered. I mean, I uh regardless, we don't know the area, uh, we don't know anybody else other than Tamson and Lake, so I think we stick with Lake, whatever he is going to do, and whatever he needs us to do.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I look over to try to catch Lake's eye again, and I just give him a thumbs up, and I smile at him. Be like, whatever you do, brother, we're gonna do it with you. Uh this is as he's walking towards you guys, uh, because you guys are close to the entrance. Uh he returns a thumbs up, but he looks incredibly upset at you. An angry thumbs up. Yes. Wow. So what did you do to him? As this happens, there's a deer that's close to you guys that looks at you, Puka, and just shakes its head as well. Yeah. I I go to try to scratch its little chin. Thank you. That's very wonderful.
SPEAKER_04The deer speak.
SPEAKER_00Booker looks at himself and is like, I speak.
SPEAKER_05We all speak together. Bring all the deer.
SPEAKER_00We all speak together. I mean, I cover the I cover the deer's I cover the deer's ears. Hey! Magical tree. Anybody can do anything. Thank you. It's hard with with just hoofs. Yeah, I have a I mean I have a name. I can speak, yes.

SPEAKER_00I knew that. And you can tell because of the grayish uh hair that's on the ridge on the on the deer. You could tell that this you could tell that this is an older deer. Yeah. Uh but there are other deer that are out. So out and about just a lone deer. Just throw another. It's not alone deer. Do I do what often?
SPEAKER_04Be a deer.
SPEAKER_00Sometimes whatever the need may arise, sometimes it's something else. Uh, but this is a little bit more uh mobile.
SPEAKER_02So I see that makes sense.
SPEAKER_00Uh and at this point has not lowered his thumb, uh, still looks mad. Uh Lake dear, uh, have preparations been made? Yes. Uh Talon is still ornery, but he will be doing whatever Talon is going to do. Uh understood. Well, gather gather your men. Uh best we can do is maybe start getting scouts out. We will uh figure out when they are gonna get here, and uh we uh will prepare a counterattack. The one good thing about uh us being here and myself being here is that they uh one have never entered uh El Doria, and so they don't know necessarily what the town itself looks like or what the setup of it is, uh, and so that would be to our advantage, as well as the trees in this place will assist, um, and so they will provide protection as well.
SPEAKER_01Um, can I like look around? Obviously, like I mean the town's not necessarily small, and then the tree is gonna block some view of the town, but like, is there like a wall that surrounds the town? And if there is, there's not.
SPEAKER_00No, you guys literally went from heavy tree forest to uh like more open, but there's still like a lot of trees. Like, that's the hard part too, of just the way that because the buildings are all these massive trees, uh actual uh there's a couple parts uh like when you guys were running around, like visuals out were a little bit more accessible, but a lot of it was uh uh like the trees were just covering a lot of the view. Uh, but there are no walls uh that you saw.
SPEAKER_01Uh like, I mean, what can we do, or where are we best uh like positioned, I guess, to serve the situation that we've got going on?
SPEAKER_00Once they begin to approach uh Lake and the other warriors and the other scouts uh will be in positions where uh we just have a little bit more of an advantage. The again trees will be assisting, uh especially the trees that are forming the outer ring of the city, and they will make sure that uh the anybody that makes it through will have a little bit more difficult time. Um and so uh if actually if you would like we can begin preparations, they're still a little bit away, so we can uh start to do a round of the city. Um and the deer gets up and starts to uh head out of the grove. Uh you guys uh start to make your way out of the city uh and she starts taking you towards the edge uh of this. You know, the town itself isn't that massive, but it's a pretty decent size. She starts to take you uh towards the edge. And as you guys are going, go ahead and give me nature checks.
SPEAKER_04So trash.
SPEAKER_003020. That's big old three. Hell yeah. Uh it's a beautiful day out. It's wonderful out here. It's a beautiful day, and not getting stuff from Val and Pierce. As you guys are are headed, you guys are close to where you guys enter town. Uh, the trees look a little different. The branches are really low to the ground, a lot lower than they were before.
SPEAKER_01Trees inside the town, or are these the trees that are like on the outside of the town that lead into the town? Yes.
SPEAKER_00All over uh the trees themselves are very tall. Uh less noticeable with the ones that are like in the woods themselves, because uh these ones aren't, you know, these these super tall trees. Um but you notice that again, the ones that are the buildings are you know easily 60 feet to 80 feet tall. Uh so a lot of the branches were high above. Um, those branches are still there. Down below, long branches have started to have grown from the trees.
SPEAKER_01And we didn't none of like the inner trees to the city had that.
SPEAKER_04No. Like even when you first entered it, like none of these trees had that.
SPEAKER_05So these trees are smart. I dig it.
SPEAKER_00Yes, they are gonna be assisting. Uh, we all aim to save the city. The wildlife, the trees, and the people that inhabit this city. Uh, we all have the same goal. Uh as uh Lova. It's still in her deer form, continues on. Uh, also with those 19 and 20 nature checks, uh usually not all, but most wildlife will start to kind of calm down uh as the sun sets, and you obviously have like your night wildlife. Uh the woods are active. Like you could hear animals uh like skittering and chirping uh everywhere. Like the entire uh you guys noticed it less when you guys were in the grove, but as you started heading towards the edge uh of Valdoria, you started to just hear the wildlife. It's it's like loud. Um, but she kind of points with her head. Uh as these branches climbing up will be a little bit more accessible. Um, and so I don't know how looks at Val. I I see that you have your bow. Uh, I don't know how you are all with uh any kind of ranged weaponry uh or any spell casting, perhaps. Um, but uh we will be in better positions uh to uh attack, counter-attack. Uh the wildlife will also be assisting and helping uh create a little bit more trouble and possibly diminish some of the uh approaching forces. Right, right, okay. Um yeah, I mean I'm good at climbing, so we can definitely get up into the trees. Uh Val, do you have another bow? Or do you just have yours?
SPEAKER_05I'm pretty sure I just have mine.
SPEAKER_00Um great. We can get you both. Oh, okay. Okay. Um sweet. Yeah, let's uh let's try that. Wonderful. Uh you start to head uh a little bit into town. They take you to this uh this tree where uh you see the individual that you had seen Lake yelling at uh or yelling, I guess, with before uh Talon. Uh and as soon as he uh uh sees Lake, you could just tell immediately, just shakes his head and goes back to uh grabbing uh weapons. There seems to be a storeroom of just basic ranger weaponry, um just simple spears, simple bows, uh, and uh like quivers full of like arrows. Um you wouldn't happen to have any uh crossbows, would you? Uh I just realized that the uh Val, you're great at shooting bows. Uh I've I don't think I've pulled a bow uh since we were young. Well you will learn Okay.

SPEAKER_00So Lake, I don't know what outsiders you bring, but they clearly are stupid. Do not call a guest stupid. This this is not the time talent. Uh, as they uh are are gathering some other uh and at this point, other uh scouts and warriors and guards uh have gathered uh as uh spears and uh and bows are being handed out. Uh you guys see that the one differentiating uh Lake still has his um the spear that you guys had seen, uh, and he has like a larger javelin that he has added on, uh kind of like to a like a strap to his back. Uh but the other thing that you guys uh noticed that specifically Lake and Talon have uh is that at their waist, uh they have uh it's kind of been clipped on. Uh and this is like the first uh non just woodsy weapon that you guys have seen. It just seems that only these two have it. Um, but kind of clipped onto a uh part of like their belt loop on both sides is a long chain that has three metal balls, uh, as they each have bolas.

Like you guys can just grab like one or two to ones? So you have a little bit of versatility with that. Uh, but but go ahead and add either one or two, whatever you think your character uh would take in this moment. Javelin. Uh with that earlier insight check too, Buka, uh, because Lova still in her her lovely deer form, uh you could tell it has become very like still very calm. She's like, but you guys are able to gather your stuff. Uh uh at this point, they haven't been saying anything, but you there's just been a lot of eye contact between Lake and Talon. Uh, and as Talon starts to walk away, Talon kinda uh grabs him by the shoulder and just says, Brother, fight with us. These are warriors. I've seen them attempt to fight. They're a little soft and squishy, but they are turns in. But they are good. And we can use a strong warrior. Um, and I will have you guys, I'll have one of you guys roll a persuasion check uh for uh Fort Lake. Uh I'll let you guys know right now if you think uh you're using his. Okay. SPEAKER_00Uh you see Talon kind of perks up a little bit, just puffs his chest a little bit. I will lead you. Uh you guys start to head north. Uh as you guys are going through the city. At this point, the city has quieted down a lot. You guys start to make your way north and you guys start to go into the woods. You're starting to smell smoke in the distance. As you guys are going, go ahead and give me stealth checks. Val can do it with advantage because you guys are back in the woods.
SPEAKER_05We love the woods. I haven't lost in the room. Uh, so for since I got with advantage, I got a 19, but my other role was not one, and that's really funny.
SPEAKER_00I got a seven. I got a 25. 25. Uh, I will roll for my boy. Uh uh oh, awesome. Uh uh 25. Yeah, he's fine. Um uh which is good because he is leading you. Uh so this is a small group. Uh it's just the four of you um as you guys are headed north. You starting to smell smoke kind of in the distance, and you only really hear the sound of your boots on the snow with a slight crunch, but only slight because you guys wrote so well on your stuff. There's a moment where you hear a small snap. The tree, like again, the animals are still helping also with kind of covering your sound a little bit, but your ears are perked up, a deer, uh, an elk kind of crashes through uh as they not frantically, but they're starting to they're gathering around. While you guys are there, go ahead and give me perception checks. 16.

There's like this moment of as much as this weird you guys are are traveling and almost tracking quietly around you, there's the sound of movement of just animals in the trees, on like on the ground. Uh, and there is a point where you catch it just as it happens. Uh there is uh a glint in the dark for a second, uh, and you hear a quick uh as an arrow thuds into Talon for seven points of damage. Uh, I need everybody to roll initiative. Oh my goodness. But I saw where it came from. Yes. Okay.

SPEAKER_00You hear this grunt of pain as uh talent takes the hit uh and immediately uh looks to you guys and just says, Everybody get down. Uh, and more arrows start to shoot out. A couple of them thunking right where you guys were. Uh Pierce and Val in this moment in the dark, it's kind of hard to gauge uh exactly where the shot came from. Uh, as you guys were heading north, uh Buka, the arrow came from the uh northwest direction. That and then is it are the can I see these other arrows? Does it feel like it's one person or multiple? Feels like it's multiple. Uh there are some that do come directly north. Uh so it's almost like two directions. Two directions. Okay. Are we pinned down in this location? Uh, you have the room behind you. There hasn't been any shots behind you. Um, but that is gonna be Val with Buka on deck.
SPEAKER_05Am I so there's trees around us, right? Yes. Uh could I use my uh movement to climb the tree and get to a higher vantage point?

SPEAKER_04Oh how high into the tree did you climb? Uh the most you could probably do is ten feet. Ten feet. Cool.

SPEAKER_00Uh go ahead and book up. Yeah, I'm going to shout to because is it just Talon and Pierce now next to me? Now yes. Okay. I'm gonna shout to them. Okay, it looks like they have a bunch of uh archers. Uh this is gonna sound really weird, but please just stay really close to me, okay? And I'm gonna uh hold my action for when they get really close. And I'm hoping to move together as a team. Okay. Uh because I want to cast warding wind. Very cool. Yes. It's a fun one. Uh warding wind is centered on myself in a 10-foot radius. A strong wind blows around you and moves with you, remaining centered on me. The wind lasts for the spell's duration. Uh, it deafens us and other creatures in our area. It extinguishes unprotected flames, it hedges out vapor, gas, and fog. It's difficult terrain for creatures other than me, but I'm hoping that we move together. Uh, so we'll move in half movement, I guess. Attack rolls of ranged weapons have disadvantage if if they pass in or out of the wind. Very cool. That's cool. Yeah. Uh, with a Nat 1, another arrow shoots over a head. Um from you guys. This is another one coming from the northwest. Awesome. Uh, that is gonna be Talon with Pierce uh on deck. Um uh Talon looks at you as you have this. Uh is it casted already or are you holding off on uh I'm holding, I'm holding for them to get close so that way I we can move together. Um I don't know if they're going to get any closer. They've been shooting us with arrows. Right. So we should probably forward. Yeah, we should move we should run forward towards them. Understood. Uh or and then or oh no, I will I'll run forward uh 30 feet and cast boarding wind, and that'll be my turn. Cool. Uh these means the next couple ones will be uh okay, cool. I was gonna say then that works out because then there was that one person that shot after you because I rolled that with disadvantage, so but okay, so the disadvantage phase. Talon is going to uh he is going uh to oh beautiful. He uh you see that he goes uh into this pouch that he has in uh like on his uh side, and then as he pulls out, it's these small, it's kind of hard to see kind of like in the dark, but uh they almost look like these green and yellow peppercorn almost. Uh, and he goes and throws it. Uh he'll go alongside you, Buka, and he throws it in the direction, uh, the general direction of where that first arrow shot the one that he got hit with. Uh, and then as they go, they start to like pop, uh, almost like small, not certainly fireworks, uh, but just like these small little explosions, as they illuminate this green and yellow, and you see a figure that is behind a bush that you could see is illuminated slightly. You see his edges almost like seeing them in with like dark vision goggles, uh, as you could tell that they have another arrow pulled back already. It is a item that he has, but uh basically it is uh fairy fire uh for all intent and purposes. So any attacks to that individual in particular are done with advantage. Nice, sweet. Um, and that is going to be his turn. Uh Pierce, that's gonna be you.
SPEAKER_01Uh, how far away is the individual that's got illuminated? This is about 30 feet away. Okay. Um, I will move slightly forward. Well, honestly, I'll probably move at least 15 feet or so forward. Um, and then I'm gonna pull a javelin off my back. Um, and as I like plant to throw it at him, I am going to enter rage. Go ahead and do that, and then go ahead and throw.

Uh, and you see this uh because of the fairy fire, uh, this like green blood just uh and then it disappears as it gets out of the range of the fairy fire. Uh he uh you could tell it hurt him. Uh he is looking hurt.
SPEAKER_01Uh I think I'm just gonna now that I hit him, I'm gonna finish using my movement to be in combat with him.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you could see that he is hurting, uh, but not down for the count. Uh I'm gonna be so honest. Everybody else is going after you guys because you all rolled so high. Uh so uh I'm gonna let Val go ahead and roll a stealth check as you climbed up the tree. Uh because this is gonna determine who and how many people get hit.

Four of these are going towards Talon because he's up front, and four of these are going towards Val because uh she uh is in a dangerous spot and they know it because she has elevated. She's not hidden. Uh, but they also know that she's in a spot where uh she has like a good vantage point moving forward. So would Talons, the one towards Talon, be uh disadvantaged because he's in my warning wind, or no? Yes. Uh oh, good call. Uh then I will pair these two up. Uh that is a miss. Uh that is a hit. That is a miss. And oh, that saved him. That is a miss. Uh he is going to take. So Talon only got hit once. Yes. Uh shout out, shout out warding wind. Um, yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh as I'm rolling, uh, what does it look like as uh these arrows start to come in his direction? Yeah, it looks like when Frosty the Snowman is about to come to life in every Christmas movie ever, little speckles of snow lifted up off the ground and spinning in a circle. It feels magical for sure. Uh, and really loud. I can't hear anything. We're both deafened. So Pierce yelling for us to go after different people. Uh, we didn't catch that. Only takes five points of damage. Three of them are going to Pierce. Does a 16 hit. Nope. Does a 18 hit. Yes. You take uh seven points of piercing damage, have to three. Cool. Uh, and then

SPEAKER_00That is gonna be two hits, uh, two misses. Um and then you take uh 12 points of piercing damage as you're able to move out of the way of two of them, and then the other two uh end up hitting you. Uh I'm not gonna make you fall down. Uh unless we unless we unless we hit a nat 20, then maybe maybe we'll talk. But uh as this happens, Val, just because of where you are, some of the shots that uh so the shots on the north uh were aiming towards uh Talon and where Buka is, Pierce made his way towards the northwest, uh, and that's where the other three shots came from. Uh the fourth one was already um for whatever reason he rolled really high uh in initiative. Uh and then so that's the one that originally shot uh talon. But where you are and the ones that were coming in your direction are coming from the northeast. Uh, so it seems that they're coming from three different directions. Uh yeah. Uh uh, but that is gonna be Val uh with Buka on deck.
SPEAKER_05Which one shot me? I want to kill them.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, uh, as that happens, because they had to they had to come out of hiding to shoot, uh, you start to see individuals. They're using the trees as cover, but you're starting to see uh some of these uh individuals come out of the come out of the tree work.
SPEAKER_05So I'm mad because I think getting shot by your own like weapon type is like a slap in the face. So we're we're gonna do some something. Something. Uh could I use uh hunter's mark on the closest one to me? The one that looks the most out of place, I guess.
SPEAKER_03Sure.
SPEAKER_05Most vulnerable. Uh perfect, and then we'll take two shots. Does an 18 hit?

SPEAKER_05Perfect, and then another one does a 26 hit? Yeah, anyway. Uh so nine for the first shot for damage, and then uh nine again, so eighteen shots of piercing damage.

SPEAKER_00Uh you could tell, like, at this point, like blood, even from the distance, blood is already starting to come uh like from his mouth as good. Two arrows like right next to each other, just center mass, just don't uh thunk in, and he drops to one knee uh as uh it's just this he's bloodied. He's very bloodied already. As he should be. That is going to be Buka. Awesome. I'm gonna run towards the nearest group of archers that I can see that hopped out, and I'm gonna swing at him with my rapier. Cool. Uh are you gonna go after the ones that are they kind of shot at in the direction of you and and talon? Yes. Please hit. 17? Uh 17 does hit. Perfect. And some damage that's gonna be seven points of damage on the first hit. Okay. Does he look like he's that like did he die? Did I kill him? Uh looks at you and just says, barely a flesh wound. Barely. And then I swipe at him again with my second attack. 22 to hit. Um I'm gonna use my uh my trip attack. He says, okay. Stop. Yeah, stop. Don't worry. I try I trip him. So I add a D10 to the to the roll, so that's seven plus six, thirteen points of damage. Uh 13 points of damage. As you are uh uh tripping him, uh you're expecting kind of a little bit more resistance, uh, and just in killing him, that is what knocks him uh to the ground. Ah, just a flesh wound. Hello? Well, I can't really hear him, I guess, because morning wind is still going. So he kills and he gets covered in the snow as it's blowing into it. The slurries, oh no. He's disappeared. You feel me? Uh and that's my turn. There are three archers that are close to you. Uh one of them looks at you just says, You are a devil indeed. What?

Uh when you guys originally saw some of the fighting happening with the uh broken spear and the twin hounds, everybody was just using bows and arrows, spears. You see that they pull out uh short swords. Um uh and as you guys are looking, go ahead and give me quick perception checks. 16.

SPEAKER_00Uh, all three of you guys notice uh that there are three different kinds of uh like leathering and clothing that these uh scouts have. Uh you guys notice green leathers that you guys had seen uh in that original combat earlier this same day. Uh, you guys see a group that has uh red furs and another one that has black furs. Um so it seems like that there are three different uh like groups that have joined forces at this point. Oh no. It's the lizards, the foxes, and the bears. They all they all teamed up.

Uh and then uh there's kind of just like grave just nods as we face similar enemies down south. So it appears that they have united. Uh not incredibly dangerous on their own, but they have large numbers. Right. Broken broken shield or broken uh broken spear is uh is we are a strong group. One of us can fight five or six of them, but uh they contain many warriors. So the plan for tonight is to stay awake and guard our guard the borders? We will get ready if uh uh and at this point Lova speaks up and says uh we me and Tamson we're uh looking at as they're approaching. I'm assuming that they are waiting for the sunrise to attack. They will probably be within striking distance a little bit sooner, but uh uh they I think will attempt to they know that we will be staying awake, uh keeping uh watch. Uh and then that's when Tamson speaks up and says, um, yes, so then when I think they're waiting, so that we're when we're the most tired, that then they're gonna strike. Uh and then I know that there's a large force amassing towards the north and the east. Uh, and so with the sun rising, uh, they'll probably try to use the sun behind them as uh advantageous uh to try and blind us a little bit. And so we should probably prepare for that, as well as making sure that the defenses uh in other parts of the city can hold out. Um and so we will have to probably split up our forces um when they arrive. Uh, but it does appear that the largest force is coming in from the east. I think if uh it's okay with you, we should probably join in with uh whatever force is defending the east. Yes, like looks, Talon, you can keep eyes on the norths. Uh, you already arrived there, you've already fought some of the men, you can head over there, uh, lead the men over there. Uh Talon nods, and uh him and his brother do like a just predator handshake, and uh they share a glance and just says, Well, uh, can't do anything on an empty stomach if we're gonna be awake all night. Uh, there is soup uh that is heated up for everybody, and you guys are able to not rest uh but wait uh for the battle will be arriving in the morning. And that is where we're gonna end tonight's session. Nice.
