Keiana Mayfield
Dr. Keiana Mayfield is an Assistant Professor at George Mason University in the College of Public Health's Department of Social Work. She is the Director of the Cultivating Curious Context (C3) Lab, where her team conduct research dedicated to understanding how individuals interact, grow, and learn. She earned her doctorate at The Pennsylvania State University, a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia. Outside of her academic day job, Keiana is the mom of an 8-year-old boy, competent knitter, established book nerd, and the Diversity in KidLit Advocate for East City Bookshop (ECB). In this volunteer role, Keiana runs 4 book clubs and brings her expertise to share and explore stories from a broad range of identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences.
