Episode 1:  Introduction to the Rock and Roll Flashback Podcasts

0:21 Welcome to Rock and Roll Flashback with your hosts, Jumpin' John McDermott and Bill Price!

0:28 Bill : Welcome to Rock and Roll Flashback.  I'm Bill Price.

0:33 John : Hi, my name is Jumpin' John McDermott.  I am part of a dynamic duo with my podcast partner, Bill.

0:42 Bill : John and I will be bringing you a series of podcasts that will take you on a journey back to the development of Rock and Roll in the 1950s, and the changes that followed in the 1960s. We will look at some of the pioneering recording studios that were instrumental in the development of Rock and Roll. Having grown up in southern California, I will share some of my recollections of the mid 1950s, 60s, and the impact of the local AM pop radio stations, and the rock concert scene.

1:13 John : Rock and Roll Flashback will shed some light on those early days of Rock and Roll by sharing stories about the performers and the songs that formed the bedrock of Rock and Roll. We will take listeners on a fascinating journey describing how artists, groups, producers, and studios developed and progressed from the early era of 78 rpm's and reel-to-reel recordings up to modern day recording techniques.

Among the topics I plan to cover include the following:

•The Dave Clark Five, the Moody Blues, and other significant British Invasion Bands

•Producer artists like Les Paul and Brian Wilson

•The Wrecking Crew

•The Wall of Sound

•The Brill Building Song Writers

•and Psychedelic Rock.

2:13 Bill : My focus will be on several artists.  Among those that will be featured include

• Bobby Vee, Buddy Holly, the Early Beatles, Redbone, The Rocky Fellers, songwriter Jimmy Webb, and the Rolling Stones.

•I will also highlight some of the recording studios such as Muscle Shoals, The Memphis Studios, Gold Star Recording, and Motown Records.

•Also performing venues like the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino,

California, the Philmore East and Philmore West, Surf Music, Instrumentals of the '50's and 60's, Rhythm & Blues, and Cover Songs.

2:51 John : So sit back and get comfortable as we drift backward in time with Rock and Roll Flashback!
