Let's talk about one of my favorite oils wasn't always been one of my favorite oils, but it has become one of my favorites and that is because of the impact that it's having on the lives of those that I'm sharing oils with and that are using this tool to be able to reduce anxious feelings and really overcome a lot of stress management barriers, and that's bergamot essential oil. It's really a versatile solution for anxious feelings, even PTSD, and I'm and I say that because the research shows us this bergamot essential oils extracted from the rind of the citrus bergamot fruit, and it's really celebrated for its uplifting and calming properties. It's unique chemistry makes it a staple of aroma cognition practices that have been aimed to improving emotional well being. And I've seen this happen over and over again, chemistry really does help us understand how these oils work in the body and how we know what their benefits are, why we know to look for using Bergamot for reducing anxious feelings. Limonene is one of its chemical components and limonene is known to be a mood enhancer with mild sedative properties. Now, limonene has also been included in pharmaceuticals, and this is how we know that our essential oils really work, is when the pharmaceutical companies take the components and try to make drugs out of them, and that's what happened with this chemistry profile. Now, linalool is another component that is part of Bergamo, and linalool is known for its relaxation and anxiety. reducing effects. Then there's linal acetate, and that promotes relaxation and reduces that stress response. And this chemistry is unique in bergamot as far as differentiating it from other citrus oils. So this really balanced profile makes this such a powerful tool. Bergamot essential oil has been extensively studied for its benefits on mental health, particularly in anxiety and PTSD. So the research reveals in a 2017 study, an inhalation of bergamot essential oil significantly improved positive feelings and reduced cortisol levels in participants within 15 minutes. underscoring its calming effects. Now, another study on patients awaiting surgery reported that Bergamot essential oil inhalation reduced preoperative anxiety levels, again, showcasing its soothing impact. This is a powerhouse. Now, research on essential oils and PTSD that Bergamot With its limbic system interaction can help regulate emotional responses and reduce the those hyper arousal symptoms that happen in. cases of PTSD. There is a really powerful study done with first responders and showing the impact of inhaled essential oil of bergamot. Now, anecdotal evidence also from a lot of holistic therapists support its use in grounding and calming Individuals experiencing PTSD flashbacks, and I've heard these from a number of professionals that I work alongside in the aromatherapy world and the life change that happens with such a simple, accessible, safe tool is amazing.
