There’s something truly magical about traveling with a special woman in your life—the mother, daughter, sister, best friend, or kindred spirit who shares a bond you cherish. It’s your chance to hit pause on the day-to-day, create fresh stories, and build memories that’ll become part of your family lore. Whether you’re cracking up over a bold glass of wine in a sun-drenched Tuscan vineyard or catching a sunset that actually lives up to the hype on a cruise, these are the times when those lifelong memories that my agency is named for are created. 

I’ve been lucky to take so many trips with my mom. One of my earliest—a road trip when I was about nine—was pure joy. We explored the Bluegrass Mountains in Kentucky, stayed in charming B&Bs (because, yes, no camping for us!), and it’s a trip I still treasure. More recently, I celebrated my 55th birthday in my happy place, and I’d love for you to hear all about that, plus how I plan multigenerational trips to Walt Disney World in episode 29.

Traveling with people you love isn’t just about the sights—it’s rediscovering your connection and sometimes a little self-discovery, too. No matter the generation gap, these trips are golden opportunities to trade stories, dreams, and maybe even a little juicy gossip.

And here’s something I adore: mother-daughter duos come in all flavors. Some are all about that laidback, luxury resort vibe. Others crave artsy city adventures—or even the thrill of getting lost in totally unfamiliar territory. Travel is personal, just like your relationship.

Luxury Relaxation and Pampering  

Think popping open a cold prosecco on a sunny terrace with vineyards stretching out like a postcard, then slipping into a spa treatment that seriously wipes the stress off your radar. Wine country tours in Napa or Tuscany are the ultimate indulgence for mother-daughter duos wanting rest and a touch of glamour.

Think gourmet meals, stunning views that make your Instagram feed jealous, and genuine time to reconnect. Bonus points for private cooking classes or discovering the art of wine together.

I have a dear client who treasures traveling with her best friends—they honor their bond every May with a week at Canyon Ranch Lenox in the Berkshires, New England’s Michelin-rated no.1 spa resort. Oh, and here’s a little pop culture nugget: they’re hosting a Sutton Lenore (from Younger) women’s retreat this May. Talk about combining luxury and a little celebrity flair!

Arts and Culture Immersion  

If arts and culture are your jam, major cities like Paris, London, and Los Angeles deliver beyond the obvious. Sure, the museums and stunning architecture are showstoppers, but the real magic comes from those tucked-away moments—the cobblestone streets, intimate theatre performances (magic show in Lake Tahoe), or my favorites: segways and food tours that bring the city alive in new ways.

This isn’t your ordinary sightseeing—it’s marking milestones and soaking up everything that makes your bond so special.

I’ve been fortunate to visit all 50 states, my rule being: I must leave the airport and explore something (anything!). Recently, my 80-year-old mom upped the ante, saying a true visit means touring the state capital, no exceptions. Visiting the Capitol buildings is brilliant: free or low-cost tours packed with history and insight. When we toured Utah’s Capitol in Salt Lake City, we uncovered all the cool film locations—more on that in episode 118, where I reveal some top Momtok favorites.

Cruise Adventures  

Cruising? It’s the ultimate mother-daughter combo—all adventure, none of the hassle. Whether it’s Caribbean island hopping, Mediterranean elegance, or cruising down Europe’s scenic rivers, it’s a vacation made effortless.

With endless onboard entertainment and shore excursions to suit every taste, it balances excitement with pure relaxation—be that poolside or at the spa.

I’m a huge fan of Disney Cruises, especially for groups of adult girlfriends. Our days were filled with dashes across decks to catch character meet-and-greets—those characters dress the part, too, in beach and cruise-casual wear. Unique Seasonal Trips: Christmas Markets and Specialty Events
If cozy and festive is what you crave, Europe’s Christmas markets are seriously enchanting. Think cobblestone squares lit up like a movie set, your fingers cozy around a mug of spicy mulled wine, and stalls packed with stuff that makes for perfect holiday-gift giving bragging rights.

Germany, Austria, and Hungary each offer their own holiday magic, perfect for starting traditions that sparkle year after year.

My aunt—another woman in my life I deeply admire—came back from a Christmas market trip (booked without me, mind you) saying, “If you’ve been to one, you’ve been to them all.” Not on My Watch. For one, Christmas river cruises leave different presents on your pillow each night, commemorating each city’s market visit. Plus, seasonal treats like Budapest’s Chimney Cake taste completely different from the versions in Prague or Vienna’s famous Sachertorte.
