It's the first day of the week and a little sunrise action there. Sun's peeking over the sides is a beautiful beautiful day right these days It's just a gorgeous day, and I woke up with a thought this morning And I was thinking about John 20. I thought I'd like to read a little bit of John 20 and particularly thinking of Thomas, but in light of in light of our reading this morning, this little pre read on this, I thought, yeah, maybe I'll write about Mary as well. It's just a good encouraging portion. It's the first day of the week, right? Today is the first day of the week. And so I thought it'd be nice to, to read a little bit about that. I hope you're well certainly drop comments in if you've got any comments or questions along the way. Love to see that. I, I will watch for those as well as we go along here. If you got your Bible open and of course, you know, I've got my coffee. I got to sip my coffee along the way. Brewed a fresh little mug here, but John 20, let's see if Thomas isn't kind of something like us here. And it says the first day of the week come with Mary Magdalene early when it was yet dark under the supplicant and sees the stone taken away from the supplicant. Then she run off and come with the Simon, Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved and said to them, they have taken away the Lord out of the supplicant and we know not where they have laid him. Peter, therefore, went forth and the other disciple and came to the supplicant. So they ran both together and the other disciple did outrun Peter and came first to the supplicant. He's stooping down and looking in saw the linen clothes line yet Wait, he not him then cometh Peter's Simon Peter following him and went into the supplicar and see if the linen clothes lie And the napkin that was about his head not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself Then when also that other disciple Okay. So that would be John, which came first to the supplicant and he saw and believed for as yet he knew not the scripture that he must rise again from the dead. Then the disciples went away again into their own home. Let's look at Mary for a moment here. Wouldn't plan on taking her up, but let's look at her. But Mary stood without the supplicant weeping, weeping. And she wept and she stooped down, looked into the sepulcher and see a two angels in white sitting the one at the head and the other at the feet where the body of Jesus had lain. And they said unto her, Woman, Why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him. And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not it was Jesus. Jesus said unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? Whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, said unto him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus said unto her, Mary, She turned herself and said in him, which is to say, master, Jesus said to her, touch me not for I am not yet ascended to my father, but go to my brethren and say to them, I ascended to my father and to your father and to my God and your God. Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord and that she had spoke that he had spoken these things under her. I just want to give one before we move on to Thomas here. One thing about Mary. Her dedication was incredible and she was weeping and the Lord saw that. And it's so beautiful to see. I met up, meditate on this about a week ago here about the different individuals that the Lord came and saw that resurrection morning. Now, One of the, I, one of the thoughts is to, we get a glimpse of it in first Corinthians 15, that somewhere we're not given the historical account of it, but somewhere the Lord came and reconciled with Peter because we see that in first Corinthians 15, that Peter was one of the first that he, that he saw, he wanted to go look him up, but here Mary is outside the womb and the Lord is coming to meet him. Everyone. And we're going to see this with Thomas in just a second here. The Lord is wanting to meet everyone in their own position, their own situation. Peter has his position. Mary Magdalene has her position. Thomas has his position. We'll see in just a second. And he's coming to meet us exactly where we, where we are. And it's all happening on the first day of the week. So I thought that we're just going to Take this up here. But this is beautiful. Mary Magdalene touched me not for I'm not ascending my father and go to my brother and say them. I ascended to my father and your father, the relationship now. is being disclosed. He is now our father. God, the father now is available to us because of the work of our Lord Jesus. Isn't that a beautiful thing here that he discloses this wonderful truth to Mary herself, that resurrection morning. Okay. All righty. Let's move on to Thomas now. Which that's what we came for. We all have a little aspect of Thomas along the way here. So let's get over here to it. Verse 19, then the same day at evening being the first day of the week, When the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews. So this is the exact same day this resurrection morning Came Jesus and stood in the midst and saith of them peace be with you And when he had so said he showed unto them his hands and his side Then were disciples glad when they saw the Lord then said Jesus to them peace be unto you as my father has sent me even so I am Send I you and when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, receive ye the Holy Ghost, whosoever sins you admit, they are admitted into them and whosoever sins you retain, they are retained. I want to look at one thing here. I want to look at The thing that they saw when the Lord Jesus entered into the room, I think this is very, very compelling because when we look at the Lord Jesus for the first time someday, when he comes back and those of us that know him as our savior and know him as our Lord, we're going to see those wounds in his hands and those wounds in his feet. That right there is going to be the biggest thing. It's going to be the biggest shock. You're going to visibly see with your eyes, the wounds that he has for you and for me, and we're going to fall down in his feet. We're going to appreciate that. We're going to worship him because we're seeing the physical evidence of his suffering for us that he endured there on the cross. So that's the first thing. That's the first thing there that. That they say that they says it says in verse 20 when he had so said he showed on them his hands and his side Then the disciples glad that is what's gonna make us glad is when we see The wounds in his hands and the wounds in his feet. All right, let's move on here verse 24 But Thomas one of the twelve called Didymus was not with them when Jesus came the other disciples Therefore said to him we have seen the Lord, but he said of them except I shall see You Except I shall see the, the in his hands, the print of his, of his, of his nails and put the finger into the print of the nails and thrust my hand into his side. I will not believe Thomas is just the classical gotta see it to believe it type of guy, right? Gotta see it to believe it. And, you know, interesting enough, He, Thomas is not with him that first day. I don't know where Thomas is. Maybe I'll ask him someday. Maybe you ask him, where were you on that first day? And we can't blame Thomas because we have no different. We have no thought about that too. We are exactly the same as Thomas. He's missing out seeing the Lord on the first day of the week. And I would just say this too, is that this is the from recording this here on the first day of the week. And I wanted to share with you that there is nothing more precious to see the Lord on the first day of the week to come together, to honor him, honor his name, honor his work that he did on the cross on the first day of the week when everything is new. And so it's just a beautiful thing here to see that thomas did miss the Lord here on this first day of the week. And he has his own thoughts. He's caught up with his own thoughts. He says, I put my hands in his side and put it in the, in the hands of the nails. I will not believe. Okay. Okay, Thomas. All right. Well, let's see. The Lord is so patient though, huh? The Lord knows what he's doing. So let's get on this verse 26 and after eight days again, his disciples were within and Thomas with him then came Jesus the door is being shut and stood in the midst and said then peace be unto you Then said he did Thomas reach hither thy finger and behold my hands And reach hither thy hand and thrust it in my side, and be not faithless, but believing. But Thomas answered, Jesus said unto him, my Lord and my God, Jesus says unto him, Thomas, because thou has seen me, thou has believed blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed. You know, it's interesting here where Tom, the Lord seems to turn right to Thomas. You know, he knows exactly, this is what's so crazy about it is when you get in his presence, even in a collective sense, what that means is when you're with other believers and you Gathered to the name of the Lord Jesus, sometimes the Lord will speak to you in a different way than when you're out alone. It's something's convicting there, and he's looking right at Thomas and he says, reach hither, reach hither your hands, touch me, touch me. And that is something else to see the Lord Jesus, you know, the Lord Jesus could have appeared to hit Thomas some other day of the week. Right. And that is, that is something that I, I, you know, it's just amazing to see the Lord again meets Thomas exactly where he needs to be met. And that is he wasn't with his brother in the first, the first Lord's day, the first day of the week. And now Thomas is now with him on the second day. second day of the Lord, the second Lord's day, that's eight days after the resurrection or whatever. And he finds himself seeing the Lord face to face tremendous, tremendous. And the Lord in his ways just looks over at Thomas and says, touch me and, and, and be not faithless. But believing, and I so love that. I'm going to go back to this, this verse 29 here, Jesus said to him, Thomas, because thou has seen me, thou has believed blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed. And I'll tell you what, dear one, that is incredible. You and I. We have a privilege. We have a privilege that we have a blessing associated. We have not physically seen him with our eyes. We have not seen him with our eyes and yet take it to the bank that the Lord Jesus is watching. The Lord Jesus is waiting for me. He's waiting for you. If you know the Lord Jesus is your savior, if you're one of his called ones, he knows he's waiting for you. And I, and I just, so it's just, it's, it's overcoming, overwhelming know the fact that we are in a privileged position right now that we have not seen the Lord Jesus, but yet he says, blessed are they which have not seen and yet have believed. So that's, I thought that was just the encouraging portion there that Thomas came in and he got to see the Lord the second time and the Lord's meeting him right where he is. And I hope that you find yourself finding the Lord as well. He is so patient. He's so good. And I hope you see him as well because he, he is, you know, it said, you know, a seeking center will always find a seeking savior. And here, these ones are, are, are just, their whole world has been Unraveled and there they are there they are with you know He's coming and meeting each one of his dear ones One by one that first day of the week. Isn't that beautiful? So, Well, I tell you what I see. I got one comment here. So let's let's go to I'm gonna unmute that for just a second here. I want to look at the sunrise for a moment, huh? That sunrise is coming in pretty well there. And let's see here, let's, let's add this one to your thoughts on the gardener, please. Kim Hill says I don't have a thought for, you know, somehow there, there is something about, there's, you know, she's supposing him to be the gardener, right? And I don't know I don't have any thoughts on that Kim at all. You know, it's, it's just so beautiful to see the, to see. The Lord Jesus looking at Mary at that time, she's supposing him to be the gardener, but you know, we can certainly go out there in the cemeteries and things like that, even on an early morning, you can see the gardeners out there as well, but anyway, I hope you're well, and I'll let the music run a little bit longer and look forward to seeing you on another broadcast or until the Lord comes back for us. But may the Lord, may you find yourself in his presence gathered under his name on the first day of the week. It's a blessed thing. We'll see you next week.
