Dinner with Artists
You know those rare dinner parties where the alchemy of food, wine, guests, and conversation beautifully combine for an experience that actually changes something profound in your thinking? That’s our recipe for Dinner with Artists.
Once a month, we pair an artist with a chef–and wine, of course–then invite a small group of collectors to join us. At some point during the evening we will record a new podcast episode for “Dinner with Artists.” Everyone joining us for dinner with have the opportunity, if they wish, to also ask questions, not only from our artist but from the chef, as well.
The wonderful things is that we are also more of a Moveable Feast than a stayed experience, i.e., we will travel to the artist any chance we can.

Jim Stevens: Finding Vision
This episode talks about the effects of war, including suicide, listener discretion advised.
In this episode, we delve into the awe-inspiring journey of artist Jim Stevens, whose life motto "A man with a vision is never truly blind" resonates deeply with his remarkable story. A veteran who lost his sight due to a piece of shrapnel lodged in his brain from the Vietnam War, Jim's resilience and creativity shine through as he redefines his perception of the world through art.
Jim's artistry is an embodiment of his unique perspective. He creates abstract realism portraits by harnessing the pin-dot line of vision remaining in each eye. His monofilament and abstract linear paintings seem to float in empty space, inviting viewers into a dance of shifting perspectives. This dynamic interaction between art and observer challenges our understanding of space and interpretation.
Our hosts discuss the upcoming "Dinner with Artists" event, where Jim Stevens takes center stage. This event was an evening of inspiration, insight, and connection. Through Jim's captivating art, guests and listeners witness the power of determination and creativity in overcoming adversity.
Join the conversation by sharing your own life motto and engaging with the themes of resilience and artistic expression on our website and drop a DM on our social media. This episode reminds us that art has the potential to reshape our perceptions and invites us to discover the unseen beauty that lies within every perspective.
Tune in to this thought-provoking episode as we celebrate the indomitable spirit of artists and the transformative power of art.
We also encourage you to get involved with the art program at the VFW Post 1 where Jim and others have created something truly special. The Veteran Arts Council hold open calls for artists every 2ND SATURDAY of the month at 2:30 pm. You do not have to be a vet to participate, part of their mission is to integrate and create opportunities for vets to meet civilians.
The dinner at our live event was brought to us by Rattle Battle Deli Catering, who also have a wonderful mission to help vets get back on their feet through their 501(c)3 Culinary Art Boot Camp which provides training in the culinary arts to provide jobs for our vets.
