On the show today I read my book "Reflective Quotes: Perspectives on Life, Common Sayings, & Colloquialisms." Enjoy!
Hi, you tuned into The Inquisitor. I'm Dr. Tanya Renee Lee. Today's show, we're focusing on the new year. And as we focus, we need to take time to reflect on renewal and change. And I thought no better time than for the new year going into 2025 than to share some of my quotes from my book, Reflective Quotes, Perspectives on Life, Common Sayings, and Colloquialisms. And these poem these quotes, rather, not poems, because I do write poetry too, are from words of wisdom that I learned from my father, my mother, my grandmother, my grandfather, some that I've pinned, my husband, and my father-in-law. I want to share with you first some from my father, who was an army first sergeant at one time, and he used to say, You can't get anything done sitting on your butt in terms of work. He always instilled working hard. And father on people borrowing money. I'm not a banker. Go to the bank. If you give all your money away soon, you won't have any. If you keep going to the bank withdrawing money, you won't have any soon. He used to tell me that all the time, and boy, did I learn that was the hard way. Father on messing things up. You would mess up a two-car funeral. And now I want to share things from my mother. As we go into the new year, I hope this will help somebody. This was what mother used to say when I was a teenager. Keep your dress down and your panties up. All the boy wants is to get in your pants, then they are gone, and often you are stuck with the baby. Mother also used to say regarding stress and worry, flush it down the commode. That was one of her favorite sayings, flush it down the commode. Just give it a flush and forget it, let it go. Mother on love and marriage. Anybody can give you a hard dick. I know you all would rather say penis, but this is the way she said it. Anybody can give you a hard dick. Look for someone who will be an asset to you. Blessed mother, blessed mother. And now my grandmother on girls that were promiscuous. They are so fast they stink. Grandmother on male-female relationships. All they want to do is get in you and stink y'all up. Grandmother also used to say, Don't let any man blow his breath in your face, and he can't do anything for you. Grandmother on tail bears. They're just woofing. Grandmother on authority and teens. This is when somebody was talking smack to her, somebody that was a teenager, she would say, You can't even pee straight, and you are telling me what to do. Grandmother on scoundrels, he's not what worth what the little boy shot at. Now my grandfather, I'm telling the truth, he used to tell us not to lie all the time. He said, Don't lie because you'll have to tell another lie to cover it up. And he often would say, and then you might forget what you said to me. You were the first one. I just really miss my grandparents. They were wonderful. Grandfather in explaining promises to me. I can't promise you tomorrow on anything, honey. Only God can. Grandfather on Greek sorority and fraternity life. One day I'll never forget in Los Angeles when I was, I had moved out there, and my ex-fiance had helped me drive out there. And my we had on our Greek fraternity shirts and sorority and fraternity shirts. And my grandfather looked at it and he looked at us and then he pointed to us and said, Now that's one thing I never could understand. I said, What's that, Big Daddy? He said, Why would you pay someone to beat you up? Makes sense, doesn't it? Makes you think. Now I want to turn to myself as we head into the new year and share some things with you regarding my take on life. Learn to love yourself first. And then you can love others. And I've learned to love myself. I love myself. Do you? I hope you do. My take on the importance of remembering those who helped you arrive. A lot of people arrive and they forget everybody else. And I say, never forget the people who brought you to where you are. You might need them again one day. And hold how true that is so often. My take on positive thinking. For every negative encounter today, do something positive to counter it. Do not focus on the past. God has already delivered you. Focus instead on the present and future. And remember that as we head into 2025. Do not focus on the past. 2024. That's gone. God has already delivered you. Focus instead on the present and future. My take on Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and other celebrations, whatever faith or belief you hold, today as you celebrate your custom at this time of the year, take the time to reflect on self-renewal, self-reflection, and positive change. My take on political views, and people try to drag me into this sometimes. I try to stay out of politics, but my take on political views. One human being can't force another human being to change their ideology or belief. It's a personal thing, and each person forms their own beliefs. And I should add to that opinions. Freedom of speech in this country should be protected right for all citizens. If it is not, then we cease to be a democracy and should define the system as a dictatorship. To try and force another human being that they must adopt your view of life is contradictory to the word freedom. My take on life to die with dignity and a legacy means more to me than just living a long life. My take on silence, and silence is golden sometimes. No response can speak louder than words. You don't have to always respond or speak to be heard. Sometimes I know we don't like to hear it, but we just need to shout out. And also on silence, ignorance and stupidity deserve no response. And on enemies. You know you are closing in on your opponents when they begin to taunt you at random. That's God's way of letting you know you are in the driver's seat and that he is the navigator. My take on living in peace and preparation. Enjoy the moment always, but prepare for the future. Peace comes from two places, from God and within. Celebrate victories and learn from trials and defeats and march on. My take on inclusion. Attitudes of inclusion and domination can lead to radicalism. Inclusion is arguably the solution to the problem. My take on destiny. This is very important, I believe, going into 2025 regarding your destiny. God has given us unique talents that utilize yours to change the world. You possess the gift. You have that power. I'm running it pretty good. And I feel that going into 2025, I'm gonna run it even better. And my quote is God never begins a work in you that He does not complete. Adversity may come, but do not succumb to defeat. My take on goodbye for now. I leave you now with two words. Enjoy peace. As we go into 2025, enjoy peace. And now I would like to share some quotes from my husband, a quote from my husband, and some from my father-in-law. My husband once said, if it costs a nickel to fly around the world, I couldn't leave town. He and his father have humorous quotes. And uh, when someone asked for money, my father-in-law had an interesting response. He used to say, You must have me confused with Diamond Jim Bundy. His name was Jack Carl Bundy. And Jack Bundy on intelligence. He isn't smart enough to pour piss out of a boot, even if the instructions were written on the heel. Jack Bundy on arrogant women. She doesn't know her butt from a burned biscuit. And another derivation, she doesn't know her butt from a hard rock. And all of these, you know, some that my relatives have said they are common colloquialisms, and I'm not saying they originated them, they just used to say it all the time. But mine are original quotes that I actually wrote and that I pinned. And I wanted to share those with you going into the new year, and I want you to be creative for the new year. Come up with your own inspiring quote for 2025 and share it with us. Right into the Inquisitor, and I want to share it on the show. And I want to encourage you to buy this book if it's been an inspiration to you or brought laughter to your soul. Reflective quotes by Dr. Tanya Renee. And I know they're still available online at Barnes Novo and other places. Amazon is out of it, but that's a good thing, though, if they've sold out. And so I just hope that you will look into getting a copy of it. And I want to leave you with a word from my own business today who is sponsoring the show.
