The Body Competence Podcast
Welcome to The Body Competence Podcast where weekly interviews explore what it means to be and raise body competent humans. In each episode we'll talk about getting back in touch with the needs, wants, and desires that were suppressed by the power hierarchies of patriarchy, white supremacy, capitalism, colonialism, anti-fat bias, ableism, and even the families we grew up in.
Michelle and her guests will navigate topics like body positivity, body neutrality, cycle breaking, food neutrality and so much more.
This podcast is for you if you are a human or parent trying to imagine a future with body autonomy and without diet culture but aren’t quite sure where to begin.

Living and Parenting with Obstructive Sleep Apnea with Emma Cooksey
In this episode Michelle welcomes sleep advocate and mother of two girls, Emma Cooksey (she/her). Emma shares her experience with a late-in-life diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and the subsequent challenges of parenting with a chronic illness. Michelle and Emma spend the last third of the episode (minute 36) talking about how to raise body competent children in a world obsessed with commenting on bodies, and how to set boundaries when those people are your family. This episode was originally an Instagram live from March 15, 2023.
