From Law to Leadership with Chris Tang

Chris Tang is an entrepreneur, the Director at Star Anise Limited in Hong Kong, and an ex-Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) lawyer. He is also the Chair of the University of Exeter Hong Kong Alumni.

Chris was born and raised in the UK and studied law at the University of Exeter (Class of 1996). After graduation, he trained with a Top 20 UK law firm (Irwin Mitchell) as a Corporate M&A lawyer and then worked in two major commercial law firms.

In 2010, Chris moved to Hong Kong to set up a legal recruitment business with his sister (Star Anise). With no contacts and no experience in the recruitment industry, he immersed himself and quickly developed a client and candidate base.

In 2021, Chris co-founded Star Anise Leadership and Training (SALT) - the education and training for lawyers that law schools won’t, and in the same year, co-founded YUZU, which aims to empower lawyers with dynamic career opportunities that align with their professional aspirations and personal lifestyle preferences.
