Episode 88 - Followers of Christ

Cydni: [00:00:00] Maybe you've noticed lines have gotten longer and your patience shorter. The days have gotten darker and your chaos more chaos y. Your bank account a little smaller and you're jolly jolly less. So we invite you to join us

Sher: and

Cydni: pause. Remember this isn't a season of must haves, to dos, and next day shipping.

It's the season to reflect and to remember our Redeemer. To recall, rejoice, and reverence in the light of the world's message.

Sher: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

This is Sydney, and I'm Cher, and we invite you to join us for a few minutes each Tuesday and Thursday in December. For a special Christmas message

Cydni: to make your Christmas a little more [00:01:00] Christmassy

Sher: As Sher, Cydni, I worked at a middle school for over 30 years that had students from all different backgrounds. I had gifted and talented students from all over the school district, and a lot of low income housing, housing for refugees, and a homeless shelter that all went to my school.

During that time, I had the opportunity y to see the very best in people. Parents that were more affluent noticed that their child's new friend wore the same pair of crappy shoes over and over again. And wanting to remain anonymous would ask if I would give the shoes to the student. And it happened a lot more than once.

I've been on field trips where students forgot their lunch, and before I could do anything about it, suddenly several students that didn't have much themselves gave what they could so their friend, or someone they didn't even know very well, could have lunch that day.

I've accidentally said out loud myself, Oh, , I forgot my [00:02:00] lunch, and suddenly a room full of students started pulling out all sorts of things for me to eat. had mothers with so little that noticed that their child's friend had even less. so they sent breakfast every day to their friend.

I've been in the classroom where a student has had episodes that they couldn't control, and other students only show compassion. There was never any pointing and laughing, just concern and asking what they could do to help.

I've had students that have gone out of their way to Help other students that are just learning English or are new to our school or they see someone looking sad And they've stopped to help. The point of all of this is as we are driving around this holiday season I want everyone to know that there are really good people in the world.

Not everyone is rude, and cutting lines, and taking your parking spot, and ruining the season. There are people that care about others. And they don't expect anything in return. They are beautiful examples of [00:03:00] following Christ. They are out there.

So let's try our best to be that person this Christmas season. This is our prayer.

Cydni: From Cydni and Cher.
