Cydni and Sher
Life will give us reasons to feel discouraged, disheartened and broken. We choose to take from these moments reasons to find courage, hope and wholeness. When life tries to crack us, we choose to crack up. When we are too weary, we seek strength. When life feels too dark, we remind ourselves from words in the Hebrews “we are not of them who draw back.” Rather we choose to move forward Together.
Cydni and Sher discuss stories from the scriptures, history and their own experiences finding a common truth that there is purpose, meaning and learning to be done all directed by an all powerful, wise and loving God. Come laugh with us or at us, either way we are so glad you are here.

Disguised - Truth, Deception, and the Holy Ghost
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Blue eyes. Blue jeans. And a knock at the door. In a world where truth can feel disguised and deception wears a friendly face, how do we tell the difference? This week we talk about President Dallin H. Oaks’ powerful devotional and why the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost is no longer optional — it’s essential. From AI confusion to Civil War history to soda-fueled humility at the gas station, we laugh, we learn, and we lean hard into the basics: prayer, scripture study, service, patience, and turning to Christ.
This Week's Challenge
Stop saying we should pray and study more — decide that we must seek Christ daily and intentionally invite the Holy Ghost to guide our lives.

Disguised - Truth, Deception, and the Holy Ghost
Cydni: [00:00:00] I know you know that a lot of people give CS Lewis credit for talking about Satan in disguise, but I have been thinking, you know, who the first person. To bring up this topic for me is it's Terry Gibbs the country singer. She sings Somebody's knocking that song.
Sher: Oh, yeah.
Cydni: Okay. Well, I was playing it the other day and the picture came up on the screen and my kids did ask if it was Napoleon Dynamite she looks like Napoleon Dynamite. She does in her cover. Man Beagle Woman back then would've been it because she didn't do her hair she has no makeup on and she's wearing a bow tie.
Sher: She sounds like me
Cydni: and she looks like Napoleon Dynamite. And
Sher: I look like Napoleon Dynamite.
Cydni: You do not look like Napoleon Dynamite. But as much as CS Lewis gets credit for saying, Satan comes in a tricky disguise. She says, somebody's knocking, should I let him in? Lord, it's the devil. Would you look at him? I've heard about him, but I've never dreamed. He'd have blue eyes and blue jeans, you know, it's so good to have this core [00:01:00] song in my heart to know that Satan's not gonna come around with horns and a tail. He has blue jeans on and he's gonna try to get in your home.
Sher: That's good to know. Keep that
Cydni: mind and we're not gonna let him.
Sher: Nope,
Cydni: not in this house. He says, we'll have one heavenly night,
Sher: So let him in.
Cydni: Let him in. Just getting, let him in. He is looking good at those jeans, those baby blue eyes. Welcome to the Cydni and Sher podcast.
Sher: I don't know if we can recover after that. Cydni.
Cydni: Well, you know what, someone is knocking and the age old question is, should I let him in? And the answer is no. Not today, Satan. We'll not let you in. And it's a dark world out there. There's a lot of heaviness going on. There's a lot of dark going on, especially if you are a victim of scrolling on any kinda social media. And it's not just my algorithm
Sher: victim. I like that you said that A victim,
Cydni: if you're a victim to social media, you know what I actually do look [00:02:00] up. On social media with my daughter, we type in Otter videos 'cause they're cute. We like otter videos and cake decorating videos. What comes up? Well, another kid is abducted and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And this is happening and that is happening. My algorithm is not true to my search. We search otters.
Sher: I don't believe you. You may search that with your daughter. Oh yeah. But I don't think you're searching that, and that's why your algorithm is doing what it's doing.
Cydni: Okay. I search. Why am I not losing weight over 40 gentle workouts for sore knees. Will my eye bags go away if I believe
Sher: the answer's No.
Cydni: How to get rid of laundry, closest nude colony.
Sher: You wanna move to a n nude colony?
Cydni: I just really hate laundry, so I'm like, that is wise of them. So, okay. So there's otters and that, but outside of that, I don't understand my algorithm. It's dark and heavy and sad.
Sher: that's why I don't do social media. I guess that, and I don't want my students to find me.
Cydni: [00:03:00] Okay. But also you have to admit It's dark out there.
Sher: It is dark. And that is the reason why today we decided to switch gears just a little bit, and we wanted to talk about President Oak's Devotional that he did last week because we both loved it. So we just wanted to chat about it.
But before we get going, Cydni. We wanna remind our listeners that this year we're gonna keep going over the basics. And this is really important because that's what President Oaks is reminding us. He's telling us to stick to the basics. We also wanted to just thank all of our listeners today.
We've had a few of our listeners reach out and, you know, people are going through a lot, Cydni, and we just want you to know that. We're here for each other. We're praying for you. And hopefully we can work through this life together. Just helping each other out because it's rough.
Cydni: We really do appreciate the nice messages. They've helped us.
Sher: They really have , so. Going back to President Oaks Devotional, he quoted President Nelson and the quote he used was, it will not be possible to survive [00:04:00] spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting and constant influence of the Holy Ghost from this quote. We learn the last days are rough days. And if we live the way we should, we can have the Holy Ghost with us. And the Holy Spirit will guide us, direct us, comfort us, and can be a constant influence. Or our companion.
And that sounds like a pretty good deal to me because it is rough out there and it is scary, and Satan is knocking and the Holy Ghost will let us know if it's the devil or something good So this influence of the Holy Ghost is what can bring comfort to our soul, even though, the world offers absolutely none of that, the world likes chaos and confusion and deception and. The Holy Spirit. It can move us away from that a little bit. President Oaks expressed further why we need the Holy Ghost, and I really love this quote. One of the many reasons you will need the constant influence of the Holy Ghost [00:05:00] is that you live in a season where the adversary has become so effective at disguising truth that if you do not have the Holy Ghost, you will be deceived. Many obstacles lie ahead. The distractions will be many. a prophet saying that Cydni, like he's saying it right there. Many obstacles lie ahead and the distractions will be many. So he is telling us to wake up and pay attention.
Cydni: Yeah, that is a sobering quote from a prophet. It reminds me that President Nelson said something along the lines of buckle in and take your vitamins in 2019.
Sher: Oh yeah, I remember when he said that.
Cydni: And that's kind of funny to look back on. I just am wondering, will this be funny too? We're like, oh, that disguised truth, that deceiving and distracting world that we're in. That was funny.
Sher: That's really funny, huh?
Cydni: Good thing we buckled in. I know that disguising truth stuck out to me like a blinking light in the night of Disguising Truth. It kind of scared me a little bit.
Sher: [00:06:00] Definitely. Especially with AI and all the things that are coming out, it's hard to really decipher what is true or not.
Cydni: I know my children, they all send me memes or reels of making fun of when my mom sends me a video and thinks it's real. They mock me all the time because I have fallen victim to things that I thought were real and they're not.
Sher: I think we've all been there. Let's just be honest.
Cydni: You know who's not honest about it is Ben. Because he likes to also jump on the bandwagon at home, and he's like, I'm really good at knowing what AI is and what it isn't. And then he'll show me a video and I'll say, that's. AI and then he will say, no, it isn't, but it's ai. And then I have to always bring in one of the kids. I'm like, Hey, is this AI or not? And they'll say, it's obviously ai. Look at the seven Fingers on the eight. And then Ben's like, I was just kidding. It was a trick
Sher: Way to go, Ben.
Cydni: Okay. That's all I have to say to bash. Ben and his AI abilities. We're in this together, Ben. We both don't know.
Sher: Well, I'm gonna bring us back [00:07:00] to the quote that the adversary has become so effective at disguising the truth. actually asked me to talk about this. She specifically said, Sher, what do you think about this? I wanna hear about it in the podcast. So If you don't like this, it's Cydni's fault.
Cydni: Wait a second.
Sher: Cydni, I'm gonna be honest, I really hesitate to talk about what came to my mind because I don't want people to be mad at me what I really thought. But I'm gonna try to be brave and say what I was really thinking. But first, I'm gonna go with the, I don't think anyone will be mad about this part, because everything really is confusing and when I get confused and everything seems all muddled in my head.
I have to just calm down and I think these are the things that I can control. I can pray, I can follow the prophet, I can read my scriptures, and one specific scripture usually comes to mind and it's found in Matthew seven.
in verse 15. It says, beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's [00:08:00] clothing, but inwardly, they are ravening wolves.
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns or figs of thistles even? So every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. And then skipping to verse 20, wherefore buy their fruits, ye shall know them. And I think for me, this has been something that I try to think about.
I keep this scripture in my mind. Often because I don't wanna get swept up in Satan's mess. And some things that people say when it appears that what they're saying is good. I try to think of this, we'll look at their fruits. What is the outcome? Like is the outcome that they're producing good or bad?, I try to use that to sort through all the mess. And I know I have before and probably will again, but I've. Messed up and believe somebody or something when it wasn't true. I know that this will happen to me again, but that means I need to pray more and earnestly seek to follow the prophet and [00:09:00] read my scriptures and it will happen less and less hopefully.
Cydni: You know what I have to tell you now? 'cause this just came to my mind that recently there was a door to door. Sells guy. He wasn't really in sells, but he was asking for donations for a charity and. Something felt so off about it. He was a very handsome young man and he had a great presentation and the charity seemed so solid and he said, your neighbor donated this amount, and if you want, I could combine them.
And then it gives the charity an extra bonus, whatever amount you give, plus your neighbor and said his name. I just felt really off about it and I said, you know what? I'm gonna pass. It just felt so wrong. And my son was with me and he said to me, he's like, something feels off about this.
And I said, I was feeling the same way. And so I said, I'm not gonna give you any information. I'm not gonna do this. You can leave something with me and I'll look over it. Come to find out my neighbor did not donate to him he lied about everything and he was [00:10:00] like a blue-eyed. Jean wearing dude, and he lied to our face about a really good cause and it just makes me think that this really is out there.
This is a very real thing. Sometimes it's just someone trying to scam you and get a little bit of money here and there, and sometimes it's a bigger deal, but I've just been thinking so much since I've listened to his talk. about the different situations that we will be in, that we absolutely need and learn how to trust our gut and have the spirit with us because there are people out there ready to say all of the right things and a good, honest looking appearance only to lie to your face and to use your neighbors against you to try to get what they want. We absolutely have to listen to the basics here of having the spirit with us all of the time,
Sher: I agree with you. It's so hard because , how many times have I just believed people? 'Cause I'm a sucker, I guess. I don't know.
Cydni: So don't donate to any charities, guys. Was that the message?
Sher: Yeah, that was the message. Absolutely,
Cydni: no donations going forward, everyone.
Sher: The [00:11:00] second thing I thought of about Satan disguising truth. Is, this is the one Cydni that I don't want to get in trouble, and I don't want people to get mad, but just hear me out on it. Okay.
Cydni: I'm already mad.
Sher: Satan is so good at disguising truth by making evil seem good, and evil, seem empathetic, and even godly. The example that I thought of is the dominant southern views before the Civil War started. The southerners believed that they were following God and taking care of those that were less fortunate than themselves.
They gave their slaves food and housing. They gave them a job. They gave them a purpose. Cydni, they kept their slaves safe they made 'em part of their families. Of course, the slave owners didn't wanna talk about the disgusting and horrible things that were actually going on in slavery. They just ignored that part.
And instead they said to the northerners,, you awful northern industrialists, [00:12:00] that you pay your workers terrible wages and you don't help them with their housing or their food. The Southerner said that these workers in the north. Were worse off than their slaves because the Northerners were mistreating people, their workers, and making it impossible for the poor to live their life in comfort and safety.
You know, Cydni, I would give this argument to my students when I taught history and every year Cydni. I'm not kidding, every single year I would have at least one kid, if not more than that. Say, well, when you put it like that, slavery doesn't seem so bad. And then I would lose my brain and I would say, for the love of everything, holy think.
Why is this wrong? What I said was a big pile of doggy dooo. So tell me why is this wrong? they would finally come up with quoting the Declaration of Independence and they would talk about how all men are created equal, but as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
I know that in the preexistence, [00:13:00] God explained in that meeting in heaven that he wants all of his children to have agency. He wants us all to have choices. Slavery strips that from God's children, making it absolutely impossible for his children to live up to their full potential slave owners, dictators, kings, and honestly, people that just seek power and control over others.
Anyway. They're all following Satan's plan to control and force everyone to live the way they want us to live. That's what Satan wanted to do. He was going to force all of us to live the way he thought we should, and if you're taking this to today, Satan is disguising truth everywhere we look he's taking things that are evil and making them look good, and like they're holy and godly.
An example that's going on today. President Oaks talked about in his devotional, he talked about education [00:14:00] and how important education is and how good it is, but then he cautioned us. Listen to this. I love this quote. Never let your secular learning limit your horizons. That is so good. He reminded us that when men do come to truth, we are just learning a truth that God already knows. So don't think you're all that and my dad would say, don't get too big for your britches, because God already knew that we're finally just figuring it out.
Additionally, God knows our horizons are limitless and he wants us to get going in that direction. The limitless direction. He doesn't want us to get strapped in and buckled in with secular thought and thinking, especially when it's not teaching truth.
honestly, as a teacher in secular education, I love learning because all truth has the hand of God in it. And when you're learning and you remember that, that is when, doors open up, so to [00:15:00] speak, because you're starting to understand and see connections and you see how God's hands and everything.
Now, that doesn't mean I get everything, and that doesn't mean I understand everything. It just means that every once in a while you get a little tender mercy where something actually makes sense. But this is what I do know, Cydni. '. i'm sure that I don't have everything right and I am positive that I'm being fooled somewhere, but I do know that I can pray and I can follow the prophet and I can pray for forgiveness when those mistakes happen and I can look at the fruit or the outcome of what I'm doing in others.
And I can lean and rely on the Holy Ghost as my constant companion. Those are things that I can do. And that's what I try to keep remembering for me in my own life because it is scary.
Cydni: I love that you said the doors will open because I have for the last week had a thought come to me as much as it feels that Hell's Gates are open. [00:16:00] This time in our life it feels to me that if we just look in the right direction, that the windows of heaven are open and that we could experience miracles and we could experience things of such a significant spiritual level that we would remember our whole life if we just turn and look to the windows of heaven instead of the distraction of the train wreck of the gates of hell.
And President Oaks, he mentioned Spencer W Kimball and the BYU address he gave at the hundred year anniversary. So I did listen to it and then it led me to another BYU address by Spencer W Kimball. And is in all three BYU addresses that were given, president Oaks and the two by President Kimball. There is a reoccurring theme in all of 'em, and it is that education is critical and it's critical to the disciples of Christ. It is our duty and our responsibility to be educated [00:17:00] in a secular fashion. And it is a duty and responsibility for us as followers of Christ to include the Spirit to do so, because exactly what you're saying, it will not limit your horizon.
It will expand it to uncover the mysteries of God that you are just going to be mind blown by if you allow the spirit to work through you while you learn these things. And then there's a call that as you do learn, that you get out there and you speak up and they all say in different ways that there is no reason that people coming from a Christian background should not be among the very best scientists, the best poets, the best creators out there because you have the truth of the gospel and you're going through. The process of line upon line learning as men learn. But with a spirit of revelation with you and that we should seek excellence and we need to be a little bit more urgent about it.
Sher: Imagine if Hollywood and all of education our government, all the things [00:18:00] were all led by people that had the constant guiding hand of the Holy Spirit with them. It would be so wonderful and make things a little less confusing. so moving on with President Oaks Devotional, he gave us advice of how we can have the Holy Ghost with us at all times. So we can tell if Satan is knocking at the door with his blue eyes and blue jeans and when Satan is disguising the truth.
He said, we can strengthen our faith in Christ, increase our humility, seek help from others, and be patient. So let's start with strengthen our faith in Christ. President Oak said It means daily trying one step at a time with prayer and scripture study. I am so grateful President Oaks said this because trying one step at a time, I feel like I can do this.
He made it seem possible for me to wade through all the confusion just by saying, take it one step at a time. But most importantly, what President Oak said to do [00:19:00] was to turn to Christ. If we are doubting, turn to Christ when we have questions, turn to Christ. When we are struggling, turn to Christ, and this is where we can always and constantly find our source of truth.
Cydni: The first time I listened to the talk and he was talking about doubts, I wasn't exactly sure which way he was gonna go with it. And I just felt peace within my soul when he said. Turn to Christ because that really is the answer. And then I loved how he went forward with explaining how everything about his address was turning our lives to Christ. I just found it to be really simple, but very beautiful
Sher: and I love that he acknowledged that it's normal to have doubts and questions into struggle. That's part of being here on Earth is to try to get through that . It's part of life and. Like you just said, turn to Christ. Turn to Christ. Turn to Christ.
Cydni: Yeah, and it feels like when I was growing up, I don't remember people talking about having doubts as much as they do now. [00:20:00] And I really appreciate that because it gives you so much more space to have questions and then to know that when you do have questions, not if you have questions, but when you do have questions, then turn. To God and turn to Him in prayer. And I have seen this in my life over and over where I do have questions, I do have doubts and I don't understand something.
And when you do turn to God and you do pray about it with an open heart, it becomes part of your core and it becomes part of your understanding over time. Or immediately. It's different with different questions, but I've had the experience now because I have turned to Christ with questions that I have and I have received answers, and that has only strengthened my faith. And it's only helped my understanding because there's room to have doubts, there's room to have questions, and there's a direction to ask.
Sher: I agree with that. I do think they're acknowledging it more that it's okay to have [00:21:00] questions, but make sure you're going to the correct source. Okay. The second bit of advice President Oaks gave us was to increase our humility. He said to not get distracted and quote, look to the needs of others and humility follows. In other words, serve, serve, serve, and serve some more. Serving does help us find truth, and it makes us happier. Plus it helps us have the Ghost with us, And that sounds like a really good deal to me,
Cydni: you know what was interesting about his humility portion is that he talked about the 10 virgins and the five that were humble, and in all of our study in church, I've always heard people say that they were prepared, that they were watchful, but humble. I don't remember a time anyone has called the five prepared virgins humbled. Can you remember that?
Sher: No. But it actually makes more sense, right?
Cydni: I think so,
Sher: because they're willing to listen and to always be on your toes because once you think [00:22:00] you finally understand something, that's when you get whacked in the head.
Cydni: Yes. And whacked in the head is something I have a strong testimony of.
Sher: Me too,
Cydni: but I love that he called them humble because he also used a definition of humble as teachable You are humble, then you could be taught by The Spirit. So I also thought it made a lot of sense. he also shares a story about being humbled when he was a teacher someone he thought was gonna give him a compliment and basically said, in time, you'll be a good teacher to our prophet.
Sher: I really related to that a lot. Teaching middle school that keeps you really humble. 'cause every flaw you have is pointed out to you on a daily basis.
Cydni: Okay. So mothering I think also fits in thanks to my children. I had to laugh though because I thought of the most humbled I've been was when I started Instagram and. I was going out in public and people were starting to recognize me. And that was pretty good from my ego people would be like, Hey, I follow you. I love your page. I'd be [00:23:00] like, oh, stop. And one time I was in the gas station and the employee, she's like, you look so familiar. And I was like, oh really? That's so weird. I wonder why I look familiar. And she was like you look really familiar. And I was like maybe it's Twitter, Instagram. And she said. Now I'm not on social. Were you here yesterday And the day before, I laughed so hard. I was like, yes, I have a problem with soda. She was like, you should get our membership card.
I laughed so hard. because I wanted to cry. 'cause I was so, so embarrassed. I was so embarrassed. There was people around, I'm like, oh, do you recognize me from Instagram? And they're like. No, you should sign up. 'cause after 10 visits you get a free soda and you have a problem clearly. . So anyway, my testimony of humility is strong.
Sher: I wanna. Add a quote by Benjamin Franklin because I have to add something with history, right? Benjamin Franklin said a man wrapped up in himself makes a very small bundle. So we can't take earthly bundles of stuff with [00:24:00] us, but we can make bundles of knowledge, friendships, our testimony. Growth through service, faith, humility, patience. These are the types of things that we can take with us. So we need to focus on growing and building the correct bundles. And I just really like Benjamin Franklin. I think he's funny.
Cydni: I love it too. And Spencer W Kimble uses that quote in one of the talks I listened to.
Sher: He does? Yeah. Oh, I love
Cydni: that. So I've listened to that today, actually.
Sher: well maybe I heard it from President Kimball. Okay. The next suggestion he gave us is to seek help from other well-informed believers. And I don't know how well-informed Cydni and I are, but we are believers and we certainly don't have all the answers. But we are inviting, all of our listeners to join us on our journey of learning more about the gospel. I've learned so much from Cydni and I've learned so much from studying Cydni just got a big head. I [00:25:00] said that,
Cydni: that I, I was really working on the humble portion and it just went, went right out the window
Sher: and I'm like,
Cydni: please say more. But then I have to remember, I heard this week that your ego is not your amigo.
Sher: Well, despite your ego and amigo, I really have learned a lot from Cydni and I've learned even more from studying on my own without Cydni around,
Cydni: test fair, fair.
Sher: But my testimony has grown because of it. And I wanna keep this going because it brings peace into my life. And I like that President Oaks said that if we have questions ask, definitely ask our Savior, but we can ask other people around us, but just make sure it is from the correct source and from other believers, like Cydni said earlier, you're gonna see whatever you wanna see.
So do you wanna see the gates of hell or do you wanna see the windows of heaven? Sometimes it's just a matter of turning around.
Cydni: I listened to this talk several times. The first time I listened to it, I just wanted to hear a prophet speak. The second time [00:26:00] I was trying to prepare since we had talked about sharing from it. And the third time I listened, I prayed to feel the spirit and I prayed to just hear a message for myself.
And I had two, and I'll share one right now. One is that when he talks about. Surrounding yourself with other believers. I had the thought to look at mission statements because he says we need to be active members of the church of Jesus Christ, of Latter Day Saints.
As I thought about what it meant to be an active member, I then thought about what our mission statement was, which is to invite all to come onto Christ by helping them learn his gospel, make and keep covenants, serve others. Focus on proclaiming the gospel, perfecting the saints, and redeeming the dead. And it also talks a lot about family. So then I thought though, if we are supposed to connect with other people who are believers, I just looked up what is the mission statement of the Catholic church. It is to evangelize the world by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus [00:27:00] Christ, making disciples of all nations and administering the sacrament to bring about salvation, unity, and charity.
And then I looked up others and I just felt the spirit so strongly because the mission statements over and over are the same. It's to make disciples of Jesus Christ. It's to transform the world. It's to focus on presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ to every person in the world and to share the good news of Jesus Christ.
I asked my sister-in-law who goes to a different church, what is the mission statement of her church? She said to point. People to Christ and to serve with love over and over as. I read different mission statements from different churches. It's the same thing. It's to focus on Christ and to serve.
So for me, what he is saying is very significant to seek help from the other well-informed believers we are to seek. Unity from other believers. And it is a time now that we [00:28:00] unite and I think it's important to understand that our goal is the same. We are all trying to point people to Christ and we're all trying to serve with love. That is the goal. And it's such a easy thing to forget that we actually have the same goal.
Sher: And that is a good goal to have turn people turn the world to our Savior, Jesus Christ. I just think of like when Christ comes, it's gonna be so nice there'll be more peace. , But I'm gonna move on to the last one, president Oaks reminded us to be patient. He said We are all a work in progress. We need to be patient with one another. And occasionally even with ourselves, a prophet is telling us that we are a work in progress. And again, notice he said we, that means all of us, including him, that we're all a work in progress. I see the apostles and especially the prophet. as not a work in progress. I see them as they have progressed to perfection already, but this gives me hope that [00:29:00] I am not a lost, cause that I am still a work in progress. We're all doing that. I'm gonna stick with Benjamin Franklin and give you another quote. He said, genius is nothing but a greater aptitude for patience.
This goes back to just trying and taking it one step at a time, and eventually we'll finally get there. You know Cindy, I had a teacher a few days ago. He asked me something about school and I was explaining it to him and he said, , how do you know all of this? And I told him that I've had over 30 years of teaching experience where I've had the great opportunity of making mistake after mistake after mistake. And. Trying to learn from it. And there was no need for him to make the same mistakes because I've successfully done that for you.
And this applies to all of us. We all have years of making mistakes and hopefully then learning from it. And this is what eventually will get [00:30:00] us to that genius level, have patience with others and occasionally have patience with yourself because that is what we're all doing. We're just trying our best.
Cydni: I mentioned that I had two impressions when I listened to this with just the idea of heaven. Open up your windows and let me receive some information for myself. when I did that, the second thing that really came to my mind was just how important it is to have the Spirit with us during these times, which was his message.
I know that's not brilliant, but I really felt an urgency with taking seriously receiving revelation. And I was reminded in third Nephi 19 nine about the people who are just with Christ, and they did pray for that which they most desired. They desired that the Holy Ghost should be given unto them.
This is a favorite scripture of mine for perspective, that these people have just been with Christ. They've been learning [00:31:00] with Him, and when He's leaving, they want the next best thing, which is the spirit. It's a lesson to me to understand how critical it is to have the spirit. But I also feel an excitement that we're going to have experiences. Available to us if we want them, and if we believe that we'll bless our life forever. I really appreciated that he said that we do all receive revelation differently, and I think it's important to remember that and to seek out how you receive it.
And so with the urgency that I feel, this will bring me to our challenge. We challenge you to change our language. Instead of saying we need to pray more, we need to study the scriptures more. We need to receive more personal revelation. The challenge to all of us is to say that we must, we must read our scriptures. We must pray and connect with God. We must [00:32:00] make Christ the center of our life. And we must bring the spirit of revelation to our daily life.
Sher: This brings us to our final thoughts. I am so grateful that we don't have to navigate this confusing world all on our own. We're all a little messy. We're all still learning, still trying, and still making mistakes, and that's okay. What matters is that we're turning to Christ, inviting the Holy Ghost to be our constant companion and walking this path. Together with humility, patience, and faith. Thank you for being here with us on this journey. We're so glad you're part of it, and we can't wait to keep learning, growing and seeking truth right alongside you. This is our prayer
Cydni: From Cydni and Sher. [00:33:00] does not. Mm. All right. All right, all right. Okay. Okay. Okay. It's like one of my favorites. I put it on, I just like, I'm ready for the day some load is knocking. Yeah, there you go. Should I let him in? Mm-hmm. Lord, it's the devil.
Sher: He has blue eyes and blue jeans.
Cydni: Closet country is everything.
Sher: It is. It's great.
Cydni: You can listen to it at the gym and carpool. I give my kids lessons while they listen to it. I love it. Important lessons. Important? She thinks his name's drawn. Now she's dead. That's the one I play for my kids.
Sher: That'll teach '
Cydni: em. I play that in carpool.
Sher: Lemme remind you of this on your way to school kids.
Cydni: And neighbors kids. You're welcome.
Sher: Cydni doing God's work in Carpool
Cydni: Meal, classic Country. Napoleon Dynamite. And Terry,
Sher: Would you welcome us to the podcast?
Cydni: You already have so much to edit. I heard him whine in the last episode. I can't cut it out sometimes.
Sher: He's [00:34:00] the other, the ugh.
Cydni: President Nelson in this. Nope. Oaks. he talked about the five virgins, and I've always thought of the five, no, there's 10.
Sher: Does that help?
Cydni: It really does a lot. Tell me when you're done. I'll be patient with you.
Sher: I'm done.
Cydni: what do I feel?
Sher: That you need more soda.
Cydni: I feel like I need more soda. And the spirit drink and be merry. I feel like we should drink and be merry. And we must listen to that. You must.
Sher: You sounded like was a 1 900 number from Cydni and she,
Cydni: some bird is knocking. Should all let them in. Call one 900 tight jeans I actually had a third impression too. It was that what if. Not just to show off shoulders, but because there's an urgency to put our shoulder to the wheel and we need more friction.
Sher: Mm, you're right.
Cydni: Yeah. What about that urgency? It's not about the shoulders, it's about the [00:35:00] boom. That was like me putting my shoulder against the wheel. She just
Sher: knocked over the microphone.
Cydni: Boom. Urgency pioneers.
Sher: Thanks for joining us.
Cydni: We're so glad you're here.
