Cydni: I don't wanna brag to you, but I did spend time in the holy temple last week, and I'm not trying to tell you, "Oh, look at me, how I spend my free time. I go to the temple." I mean, a little bit, but what I really wanted to tell you is when I came out, I got a warning on my car for where I parked. I took a reserved handicapped spot.
Sher: No, you did not.
Cydni: I did. I didn't know. I was really busy. I was texting and Marco Polo-ing, so I didn't, like, notice. Gosh. But I have never in my life received such a gentle and kind and hurtful warning on my car. They were like, "Hello, Temple Patron. Thank you for joining us in the Holy House of the Lord.
Don't park in the handicapped place again." And I was like, oh my gosh. I tried to get into heaven today and I earned my place in hell.
Sher: I wasn't even there and I'm embarrassed for you.
Cydni: I will say, I did think to myself, gosh, this is a lucky day. Look at this good parking spot.

Sher: Okay, Cydni, we're gonna continue talking about the Book of Psalms today, but Cydni has a very special announcement for all of us.
Cydni: This very special announcement was not on your outline. But what would that matter anyway? As if I would read your outline.
Sher: True that.
Cydni: This is Sher and my final podcast episode. I wanna say for now, but who knows?
Sher: Who knows?
Cydni: We might pick it up again.
Sher: Yeah. It's been great.
Cydni: It's been one of the greatest blessings of my life.
Sher: I would agree with that. I have learned so much.
Cydni: I've also learned so much. I was actually thinking what did this podcast do for me selfishly, 'cause I always think what about me, me, me. I, I, I. Like that, that's just like a natural thought process for me. And so, I was thinking, you know what this did for me, Sher?
It helped me to truly study the gospel probably for the first time in my life with so much purpose. And one thing I was thinking about that's kind of [00:02:00] awesome, because last year we talked about happiness, and I thought this podcast did so many of the checklist of how to be happy, because it gave me a purpose to study the gospel, and I also thought it helped me to learn how to follow an outline, "Just kidding." But I saw outlines.
Sher: That was an improvement I
Cydni: guess for your life. Yeah. I don't remember looking at them in school, so I- Gosh saw, I been exposed to outlines. And it also instilled in me a deep love, respect, and gratitude in American history.
Sher: Yay.
Cydni: Who would've thought? That was because of you. Thank you.
Sher: Oh, good. my brainwashing is still solid. I'm so glad I didn't lose it after I retired.
Cydni: I know. I think I'm easily brainwashed actually, now that you say that.

Sher: would agree. Some of the things you've told me, I'm like, "Yeah, that's not true, Cydni. Birds aren't real."
Cydni: And then for me probably the most important part of this was how it anchored me in Christ during the last few years when some of it I didn't feel very anchored at all. [00:03:00] And we have different reasons where this blessed our lives and it anchored us, and I went through a lot of different therapy.
And I feel like a lot of people maybe, you know, you lose your ground during that time, and I was anchored the entire time because we had an outline to follow. And I feel so grateful for that. Do I have a fear? Yeah. But I think maybe I'm anchored enough
Sher: Well, I certainly hope so. Cydni and I are going to continue going on our walks and talking about the gospel, so hopefully that will help.
Cydni: But I really do appreciate this time. And Sher, I've learned so much from you, which was a surprise-
Sher: Surprises everyone.
Cydni: And it's been so wonderful, so thanks for going on this adventure.
Sher: Well, I would agree. It's been super fun, and I have also learned a lot from you. You've taught me patience.
Cydni: You're welcome.
Sher: Empathy.
Cydni: How to give up entirely- ... but still keep going.
Sher: Correct. All of those things. No, seriously, I've loved learning with you, and I really have learned a lot from you, I [00:04:00] know you are a smart aleck, but for real, your resilience and your determination is very inspiring, and it's a really good example.
Cydni: Thank you. There is a second paragraph if you keep reading about how amazing I am, if you could just continue on our outline.
Sher: No, I think I'm done.
Thank you, though. but we are gonna talk about Psalms today, . So- Cydni, I went back to high school and I got my scriptures out from seminary, and I found a few scriptures that I had highlighted, and I'm gonna share them with you, mixed with some new ones that I like also.
Cydni: Yay.
Sher: All right. in Psalms 1 it says, "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law does he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; "his leaf also shall not wither; "and whatsoever he [00:05:00] doeth shall prosper." Now the reason I highlighted this is because I was in high school. And I was never bugged or anything like that by people really, you know, just the normal high school crap, but you know how some of the kids in high school, they think they're super cool, and they are definitely choosing a different path than the path that I wanted. And the peer pressure is real when you're in high school. It's real when you're an adult, too, it never goes away.
Cydni: Well, I was gonna say that I never felt peer pressure in high school 'cause no one talked to me,
Sher: you're so full of crap. So the peer pressure is real in high school and I highlighted this to remind myself what choosing God meant and what it could look like. That I could be a tree planted by the rivers of water, and that sounded like a better option to me.
Also from high school, I highlighted Psalm 8, and it says, "Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth. Who has set thy glory above the heavens. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon, the stars, which [00:06:00] thou has ordained, what is man that thou art mindful of him?
And the son of man that thou visitest him? for thou has made him a little lower than the angels and has crowned him with the glory and honor. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands, and thou has put all things under his feet. Oh, Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth."
What our heavenly Father and our Savior have done for us is truly overwhelming. They have crowned me and you and all of their children here on earth with glory and honor if we have faith, keep the covenants, and endure to the end. They have given all of us dominion over the works of their hands, and that makes me feel so unworthy, but yet so grateful.
And because of my Savior's atoning sacrifice, I can repent and return to live with my Savior and Heavenly Father again. Because of my Savior, I can [00:07:00] say, as it says in Psalm 27, "The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?" And because of the love, blessings, and hope I have in my Savior, I can say, as it says in Psalm chapter 5, "But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice.
Let them ever shout for joy." And I'm so grateful to have that knowledge, Cydni, and I am so grateful that God gave us the last few years to have this opportunity to do this podcast.
Cydni: I loved that Sher. I do have several favorites, and I did not go with the original ones I was going to, because I then was reflecting on our podcast as well, and just the last few years, and what it's done for my testimony and for my focus every day, truly.
Because there were times We recorded in advance, and then we'd have a few weeks of not having to study, and I never studied good stuff on my own. I was watching crap. [00:08:00] And so I really appreciated the times that I was obligated when I didn't feel like studying the gospel, that it really did anchor me.
Like I said, I can't use that word enough in all of this. But in that, here are two that I have to share here's my first one from Psalms 40. "I waited patiently for the Lord, and he inclined unto me and he heard my cry. He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of a miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock and established my goings and he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God.
Many shall see it and fear and shall trust in the Lord." I love this one. And I feel like the second one kind of is similar, so maybe there's a theme for me. Psalms 30 says, " O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. O Lord, thou hast brought my soul from the grave.
Thou hast kept me alive, that I shall not go into the pit. Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of His, and [00:09:00] give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." And for me, this is what the podcast has done, is that going and facing some things and being very honest and healing.
I will say that my testimony is that our Savior knows us, that He loves us, that He's fully aware of what we're going through, and the things that we are going through or have gone through will shape and polish us if we allow it. And as you go through a therapy world nowadays that people try to find their authentic self, the truth is that our authentic self is that we are God's, and that He loves us, and that we are fully capable of overcoming any challenge that comes our way, not just enduring it, but also being polished and lifted, and then capable of turning around and helping others. And probably my all-time favorite phrase is, "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."
