In this episode Alice and Ria share a lively conversation filled with excitement, imagination, and everyday moments from their day in the club.
The episode begins with celebrations. The children explain how their group made brownies and cupcakes to mark a friend’s birthday. The excitement of the party, the baking, and the laughter captures the small moments that matter in childhood.
The conversation soon turns to imagination. The girls begin talking about superpowers and what they would choose if they had one. One chooses invisibility so she could deal with people who are mean and understand what others say about her. Another chooses the power to read minds so she could hear what people think, especially when performing on stage.
Through humour and storytelling, the children reveal how young people think about friendship, confidence, and how others treat them. Their ideas move easily between fun and reflection, showing the mix of imagination and honesty that shapes childhood conversations.
This episode forms part of the Listen to Us series, where children lead the conversation and share their own experiences, thoughts, and creativity.

This project is supported through the Daphne-CHILD programme, a European initiative led by Eurochild and Terre des Hommes and funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme. The programme supports grassroots organisations across nine European countries that work to prevent violence against children, while ensuring that children themselves participate in shaping solutions.
The campaign will culminate in an advocacy seminar on 15 May 2026 in Dublin, bringing together educators, policymakers, youth organisations and child protection professionals to discuss the key messages emerging from the project and explore how children’s perspectives can better inform policy and practice.

(0:00) It's like a robotic voice. I know. I am Ria. Hi, my name is Alice. I'm very excited to be here right (0:08) now. I made brownies in my group today and it was good. I know why we have brownies. It's because (0:18) one of our friends in our club is her birthday. She's turning 11 years old. She's only been 11 (0:25) years old for about three minutes. So we have like, we have like cupcakes. We have like white (0:34) brownies. We have like loads of things. We also have chocolate brownies but they taste very (0:41) disgusting. If I would have superpowers, I would have invisibility. You know why? It's because (0:51) if someone's talking about me or who's mean to me and I am very upset, so then I could just (0:59) blind myself and then maybe trip them just to make them feel, know how it feels like for them (1:06) to trip me so then they know how it feels like. I'd be definitely to be able to read minds because (1:14) I can think, I can see whatever, I can hear what everyone's thinking about me. Like if I'm on stage (1:19) I can like just hear people go like, wow she's so good or oh she's so bad. Bye! We will miss you (1:28) next time. Bye!
