This episode captures a warm and honest conversation with Alice as she reflects on her time in the Listen to Us Project.
Alice speaks openly about what she loved most. Baking cookies. Spending time together. The simple joy of being part of something shared. You can hear how much the experience meant to her, especially as she talks about missing the group and the routines they built. There is a real sense of connection and belonging in her words.
As the conversation deepens, Alice begins to describe what she learned. She talks about kindness, sharing, and finding the courage to speak up. A small moment, finding a hidden heart during an activity, becomes something bigger. It stays with her as a reminder to be brave, to express her feelings, and to stand up for others.
She also shares her hopes for the future. Alice wants to become a doctor to help children with cancer. It is a thoughtful and generous ambition, grounded in care for others. She speaks about it with sincerity and confidence.
This episode shows how meaningful experiences stay with children. You hear growth, empathy, and a strong sense of who she wants to be.

This project is supported through the Daphne-CHILD programme, a European initiative led by Eurochild and Terre des Hommes and funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme. The programme supports grassroots organisations across nine European countries that work to prevent violence against children, while ensuring that children themselves participate in shaping solutions.
The campaign will culminate in an advocacy seminar on 15 May 2026 in Dublin, bringing together educators, policymakers, youth organisations and child protection professionals to discuss the key messages emerging from the project and explore how children’s perspectives can better inform policy and practice.

Alice, it's a pleasure to have you here with us today on the podcast. (0:04) Yeah. (0:05) What I'd like to ask you today is, (0:08) did you enjoy the project over the past few weeks, the Listen to Us Casper? (0:13) Well, I did like all of them. I loved the most favourite one is when we baked the cookies today (0:20) and also I'm also going to really miss yous. (0:23) That's lovely. Thank you so much for saying that. We are going to miss you guys. We've (0:28) loved doing this. It's been the best fun.(0:30) Well, I'm going to love you a lot. (0:32) Aw. (0:33) And I'm going to miss you because I'm going to be upset. I'm going to say, (0:36) are we going to go to drama? And they're going to say no because we don't have any more. (0:40) And I'm going to keep on asking because I keep on forgetting all the good times. (0:46) If you, because there's a big question, but I know you can answer it.(0:49) What did you learn about different things while you were here? (0:52) I learned about when we were allowed to, when they were doing the hearts hiding, (1:01) I found one and it really, really went in my heart and it kind of reminds me. (1:08) So I won't, I can share all my things so I won't be scared. I won't do anything.(1:14) And also that I'm going to learn lots of things. I don't, I can step up for people. (1:20) I don't have to be shy.I can tell everyone my feelings. (1:24) I love that. You were very big on that last week when we were talking, (1:27) weren't you, about feelings and not be afraid to share them.(1:31) What do you want to be when you grow up? (1:33) I think I want to be like, maybe I want to be a doctor to help kids with cancer. (1:40) Yeah. You said that to me last time and I thought that was amazing. So (1:44) you're going to be a doctor. You're going to be a fantastic doctor. Do you know that? (1:48) You're going to be the best doctor there ever was.(1:50) And if you're still alive, you could come to my hospital and I can help you with anything for free. (1:56) I'd love to do that. So will you be my personal doctor then? (2:00) So I'll just come and I'll go, sorry, excuse me, I know Alice.(2:03) She said I could come here anytime and she would help me if I'm still alive.
