Welcome to the classroom for the girls, the gays, and the they's for all things sports. I am going to be talking today about the World Cup and soccer and me falling in love with a new sport. I love this for us. Telling me I look pretty. I don't, you guys don't normally see me in this state. I just came from shooting my sports show with Revolt Sports. I do a TV show every Friday, and so that's why I have like my makeup on and my hair is done, and I'm wearing a cute top, and I'm not like in my usual state that you see me in on TikTok. Okay, so let's talk about this World Cup and all the tea and all the things going on. I did a similar video like this about the NFL when I first started watching and why I fell in love with American football. And I always felt kind of pushed out of that world because it felt very white, very male, very America. If you don't have a team and you haven't been watching since you were six years old with your dad in the living room, then you can't get into the game. So, like it was very intimidating for me. So I didn't want to watch it. And once I started watching it, like two seasons into actually watching paying attention, learning about how football works, learning who all the main characters were, learning all the storylines, learning who all the teams are, the reputations of everybody. That's when I was like, okay, this shit is fire. And I was always like an NFL is secondary to the NBA kind of girl. But now that I love the NFL so much, I really think that they're kind of like neck and neck for me. And the NFL is honestly a lot of fun because it's less work. There's only one game a week. So yeah, I I I fell in love with football. Soccer, and I know you guys, I know I'm not calling it football. Right now, I'm calling it soccer because I'm speaking to the American girlies who don't know anything about the sport, but just know I'm referring to football. Okay. Actually, I'm supposed to be talking about soccer, but I'm going to refer to it as football so I don't get jumped. So, yes, we're going to be talking about football. And the World Cup is really my first time actually watching it this much. I went to the NWSL championship. Like, I've been to football games, but oh, and I went to PSG Man City. That's my most viral video still to this day, is me at the game being like, this shit is fucking crazy because the fans actually care so much about the sport. And I just fell in love with it. But with the World Cup, I'm actually watching football soccer every single day. Like every single day. And I'm locked the fuck in and it's so much fun. And it is really gatekeepy. Like the fans are very mean. Like every time I post a video about it, I get like jumped to hell. But I don't care because I love it anyways. I'm having so much fun. So, anyways, the whole point of us being here today while I'm gathering the class is to tell you guys about what I've learned since I've been watching somebody called me out in the chat by my accent football for the first time. So I'm going to go through my list. These are my observations and things I've fallen in love with. Some of these might be a little controversial, some of these might be a little stupid, some of these might be a little obvious. But if you aren't a girly that watches soccer football, it's gonna help you kind of learn what you need to know if you are gonna tune in during these quarterfinals. So without further ado, should we get into it? Okay, this is a list of things I've learned since watching the World Cup, and I'm now going to share my findings with the class. Okay, and these aren't like any in any particular order. Like when I made my list, I was just like, it was just random things that came to mind while I was watching it. So, number one thing I've learned since watching football, football, soccer during this World Cup is how much people care. Okay. I know that sounds silly, I know that sounds obvious, I know that sounds stupid. Like, duh, people care. Like in sport, people care about every sport. No, I don't think you understand. I don't think you understand. I thought it was gonna be simple similar to the Olympics in the way that people care, like you know, supporting our country, woo. No, like these players when they lose, like Neymar when Brazil lost, was on his hands and knees in the field, like scream crying. They are like so emotional, they care so much, and the fans are the same way. Like the Japanese fans, so grateful to be here. They stay after the game and clean up the stadium with trash bags that they brought themselves. Guys, like Brazilians get off work. I saw in my comments when I posted a video about this that I guess a lot of countries do this. I not America, we're not getting off work for shit. They like get the fuck back to work. We got money to make. Hell nah, in this capitalistic ass country. But in other countries, specifically Brazil, they get off work if Brazil is playing. So, like, if they're at work and they have to work, they have to play the game. And they everybody stops and they watch the game. Do you know how long a football game is? Like, they all stop everything they're doing. They drop everything, school, work, whatever, to watch and support the team. There's like Brazil stuff everywhere. Like, other countries take it so seriously. I really, I really wish America would follow suit. But like, I I got introduced to like most of the players on our team throughout like actually watching the World Cup. Like, I wasn't leading up to it, it wasn't an event that I was really like playing it for or like getting excited about. But how much people care really gagged me because between the players and the fans, this is larger than life. It's it's the biggest sporting event in the world. It's bigger than more people watch this than the Olympics, the Super Bowl, anything that you can think of that's big, like it's bigger than that. So I understand why people care. And it only comes around every four years. So if you lose, you don't get another shot next year, tomorrow, next game. You don't get another shot for four more years. And for a lot of these older players like Neymar, like Ronaldo, who are older in their careers, they can't play in the World Cup again four years from now. What will Ronaldo be 45 years old? Like, it's it's huge. Like the passion for this sport is next level, and I wasn't aware. I knew people cared a lot about football soccer. Okay, like I knew it was a big deal, I knew it was the biggest sport in the world. I knew Ronaldo was the most followed person on Instagram. I knew how big it was, but like seeing the faces of each person after winning or after losing really put it in perspective for me. The second thing I learned is it's the most watched sporting event in the world, even over the Olympics. Obviously, the Olympics is the only other sporting event that is truly global, that like all a lot of other countries are taking part in. Like it's the only other sporting, but the fact that more people in only one sport is happening. Like in the Olympics, there's like 7 billion sports happening all at once. You can more people tune into the World Cup than to the Olympics. Like that, that gagged me because everybody watching one sport and one game at the same time, like that. Do you know how powerful that is and how many people that is? It's crazy. Next, okay, so the third one, this is where I start getting controversial, and I'm gonna ask you guys to be kind and not judge me. Okay, so watch your mouths. I always thought that the sport was boring, to be honest, and that's why I didn't really lock in, but it's not boring, it's actually kind of therapeutic. Okay, here's what I mean by that a game where it can be zero zero until the 75th minute of the game to me sounded boring as hell. Like it really sounded boring as hell. But the only times I ever really paid this close of attention to football soccer are when I was either at a game in person watching, and like that's always very therapeutic and like enjoyable. Like, obviously, the experience of being at a game is different from watching on TV. Like, I can't watch baseball on TV unless it's like super high stakes because I think it's boring. But I always thought that football soccer was the same way. Like, I mean it's it's boring, like they never score. But when you actually watch, you don't pick up your phone, you don't get distracted, you're not talking to people. You're like when you actually just sit down, put it on the TV, and you watch, you're just like and it's like a dictating. You can't take your eyes off of it. It's like, it's like chemically something in my brain, I don't know what it is seeing the ball go back and forth and back and forth. Like, it's like T. I really do enjoy it. I really do enjoy it. So yeah, I I feel like that's a big one that I learned is that it's it's not boring, it's actually quite therapeutic. And I think that it's taking so long and being so difficult to score is literally the emotional core of the sport because it makes it such a big deal when they do score that it's like insane. I think I have another point that goes into scoring, so I'm not gonna go into too much detail about that right now, but just now. It has its moments, but it is really, really exciting. Now, the next one is y'all, I'm not gonna lie, offsides has rocked my shit. Offsides has rocked my shit. I still don't get it. I've had seven different people explain it to me. I've googled it, I've watched YouTube videos about it, I've watched TikToks about it. I've like, guys, people in the comments are gonna be like, offsides is this and that. Duh, it's the defender and running past, and you just have to like basically if you're faster than that motherfucker, you gonna get be offsides. And it's just I've accepted not understanding it. I've accepted not understanding it. That has rocked my shit. Do you know how often they literally score and then they get really, really excited and go nuts and go crazy and like the crowd goes wild? Like I was at FanFest in Atlanta. We score a goal, everyone goes, let's go! Woo! Offsides. We wait the entire game for somebody to score, offer them to score, us to get excited, and then be like, ah nah. Like, it's just so like uh I don't like it. That has rocked my shit. But I guess if we took that out of the sport, the score would be higher and it'd be less like of a big deal. I don't know, but it it really pisses me off. Another thing, this isn't on my list that really came to mind, but like I would always be like, I don't know, because sometimes when you're watching or you're thinking about soccer, it's like simply kick the ball in the net. I don't know. Like they be running around, they be doing the most, kicking to this guy, that guy. But when you're watching, it actually does make sense why they can't just like kick it at the net every single time. There are so many people on that field, like, and if the defense is good, it is so fucking hard to score. So, like, I I I I'm done with my I'm just a girl. I would, I mean, I would simply kick it into the net because you literally can't. Like, you literally can't. Does that make sense? All right, next, oh, this rock my shit. Red cards get you ejected and banned from the next game. Like, if you get a red card, yeah, you get kicked out of the game. Okay, like that makes sense, right? That's like normal, but you also get kicked out of next game. And you would think if that were the case, they would they would give red cards for the most egregious, insane, ridiculous, like fuck shit, right? But it it they don't really, like it don't be that crazy. I don't know. I maybe because I watch basketball and I'm thinking like Draymond Green type shit, like choking a nigga out or kicking somebody in the balls or stepping on somebody's chest. Like, yeah, you can leave this game and be out next game too. But like, I don't know, the shit in soccer be accidental. And it's like, damn, I can't play in next game either. That that's too that's too much. That is too, too, too, too, too, too much. And the child is telling me you also have to pay a fine. I mean, damn, like that should be reserved for if you punch somebody square in their jaw. Like, I don't know. It shouldn't be called for something that could even be perceived as accidental. It shouldn't be called controversially, it should only be reserved for the highest punishments. Because if I'm gonna kicked out of this game and next game too, it's gotta be some fuck shit that I did. I don't know. The red cards, they they rock my shit. Next, oh, if you get ejected, you just have to play with less people. Now now that that come on now. The Warriors will be fucked if this existed in basketball. So you're telling me if this dude gets ejected from the game, we can't just put somebody else in. We gotta play with 10 people while they still get to play with 11, and it's just harder for us. That is so crazy. Oh, I learned about the kit, which is the uniform, the jersey, okay, the pitch, which is the field, and hat trick. I forgot what hat trick meant already. Fuck. I should have put it in my notes so I look smart. Is it hat trick? Hold on, I'm not even looking. I'm not even looking at the the chat. Hat trick is you score two goals in a game, a match, three, fuck. Oh I tried it. Chad telling me hat trick means you score three goals. Fuck. Two goals is a brace. Okay. Well, a hat trick is when you score three goals. I need to, you know what I'm saying? Add that end of the notes. You feel me? Now, oh, the next thing. Holland, Holland is a diva down. That's how you say his name, right? The the blonde guy. Listen, Mr. Birken, he is so tea. Like, I'm sorry. I really hope that like there isn't some deep, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark story about him, and he's not evil, because that's really gonna disappoint me. But like, he's fine as fuck. And I felt so bad because my Brazilian homegirl was sick, and I was rooting for Brazil. Like, I was like, oi, you know, y'all, my World Cup experience, like first I was Brazilian, oi, and then I was Mexican. Like, I was like, mi gente latino. I'm not stupid. That's a J-Lo quote, okay? And I was like, yes, viva México, and they lost too. So I was just like, fuck. And then the U.S. lost, so I was like, what who am I supposed to root for now? I've chosen to root for France. Y'all let me know if that's like right, okay. Someone in the chat said watching Americans learn football is so hilarious to me. I'm sorry. It's like, it's so fun. But yeah, Holland, he's a diva down. When they hit that drum at the end and the crab goes boom. That shit is so tough. That shit is so tough. I'm sorry. That shit is so tough. I love that. Ugh. So yeah, Holland is a diva down, and his Birkin collection is very tea. I'm like, Shea Giltress Alexander, you might need to step the fashion game up. I don't know. These football players are flyer than I expected. Like, did you see DR Congo when in their entrance outfits in their leopard? Like, they ate. My next point was Norway hitting the drum is fire as fuck. I don't know what that's called, the Viking thing. That shit is fi as fuck. Yeah, hard. And I'm usually like, I root for everybody black and I do root for everybody black, but they ate that one. Because I don't think there was like one black guy in the Norway team. But, anyways, I don't know much about Norway. Don't come for me. This ain't shade. This is just me learning, okay? That shit was fine. I had to give it to them. Woo! I said, period. Well, I want to get in there and do it too. I even saw a Brazilian girl like recording them smiling after they had just lost when they were doing the drum. Because, like, how can you not like that? Like, oh, they said roo. It's rue. Rue. Yeah. Ate that up. Ate that up. And the chat has informed me that there are two black Norwegian players. I don't know if this is just a me thing, okay? Because again, I'm new to the sport, right? But the annoying thing, kind of, as a girly with ADHD watching this sport for the first time is you can't look away because if they score a goal while you're not watching, it feels like you wasted your time. Like if you go to the bathroom and they score, just like kill me. Just turn it off. Turn it off. Just vote. Just vote. Like, I don't know. That shit is so irritating. Like when I watched the game at the Fan Fest, when I watched a game at the Fan Fest and we went to get a drink and they scored a goal, it's so annoying. Everybody's like, go, go, go. Everybody gets all excited. You feel left out. You like, I've been watching them kick this ball back and forth for the last fucking hour waiting on somebody to score. You're gonna score when I go to the bathroom? Like, I start taking that shit personal. Like, I don't know. That irritates me bad. Someone in the chat said blinking in football is like sleeping. That's exactly what it's like. Because it why as soon as I pick up my phone, everybody wanna score. There's drama, there's a penalty, shit's happening. When I'm watching, it's just don't, ding, don't, ding, don't. That shit pisses me off. It's like when you miss school one day and the Beyonce shows up. Like, it's so annoying. Okay, I don't really get this still. So, like, chat, you can help me here. The refs choosing when to and not to use video review VAR is like the refs got a little that that's my whole thing. The refs got a little bit too much power for me. I don't know. I don't know. That the refs got a little bit too much dip on their chip for me in this sport. And that the refs got a lot of dip on their chip in every sport, but like in this sport particularly, what the fuck do you mean? Like they they just they're just not gonna review, like they they are, they're not gonna like the whole system feels very corrupt, very big brother is watching. Like, I don't know. The ref's got too much fucking power for me in this sport. I don't like that at all. Speaking of which, my next point, the timing. Okay, please don't come for me. Again, love the sport, love I like the beat. Um, the timing pisses me clean, clear the fuck off. The timing is so aggy. Oh my god, the time is so annoying. It counts up, so you can't even say we have a blank amount of time left because they don't show on the screen. And like, I'm not trying to do math, like that is so annoying. Like, oh, we're in the 75th minute, and I'm like, damn, that means okay, uh 90 minus 10, that's 80 minus five, okay, 15 minutes left, but then there's extra time. The timing pisses me clean the fuck off. I'm sorry, it's so OD. I'm not saying they gotta change it, but like, I why the fuck again? Somebody in the chat said this. Why the fuck can't they just pause the clock like they do in every other sport? Why does the ref get to count on his little watch about how uh yeah, he was down for about two minutes, add two minutes, and that was about three minutes, add three minutes. What the fuck do you mean? Just pause the clock. This is the most watched sport on the fucking planet. Just let's take a beep and resume. Like, I don't, I don't know. Everybody's telling me, everybody's telling me that I'm I'm uneducated. Like, they're like, this is what's wrong with the American education system. You guys are stupid and slow and you can't count. Okay, shit, fuck. I don't care. Girlby. I don't care. I got my degree. I I figured out how to count. Like, I don't know. I didn't I don't know. And listen, I'm not trying to change your sport or take away from your sport. These are my personal opinions. Just pause the shit. Because what when it really pisses me off, when the time really pisses me off, is when I don't know when the game is gonna be over. And let me know in the chat, those who watch football a lot, like do you get to a point in watching where you just have flex this muscle that you know exactly what time and second that the game is gonna end? Because I'm very irritated by the fact I'm watching a close ass game, I'm like, damn, they might have a chance, and then it's like final, final. Because like, I mean, there's like approximately 11 minutes left, but like a few seconds and blah blah and the refs like, oh yeah, by the way, this shit is done. This shit is over, this shit is wrapped. The fact that I don't know how much time is left, I've been watching that we get into the end, everybody else on the edge of their seats, nervous as fuck, hmm, hmm. And I'm like, can somebody tell me how much time can somebody tell me how much time is left? Can somebody please tell me how much time is left in the game? I'm getting stressed out. Like, yeah, that that stresses me the fuck out. Another thing I learned, this is like, okay, I kind of knew this before, but I didn't know how bad it was. Again, this is a safe space, so you come for me, I will fucking block you. Like, I kid you not. Like, I will block you, I'll block every account you make. I will find your IP address and I will go to your house and I'll be like, girl, what you say? Like, I seriously will get irritated, but yeah, Mr. Most Followed Man on Instagram, very, very questionable past. And I don't know if I can talk about it in detail on YouTube, Twitch, or TikTok live or on my podcast platforms that this will be up on later. But I'm just gonna say this Google that read up on that past because I I and I Georgina was my favorite wag, and I just like I can't help but side-eyed slightly because I'm like, what the fuck? I'm I'm gonna hope my sis was just in it, you know. I'm saying I'm gonna I'm gonna hope my sis was just like I need to get up at the Gucci store, and you know, this is what I gotta do. I'm uh I gotta put me first, Lucius. But yeah, his past, and again, I knew that it was bad and that there were like accusations made and blah blah blah. And I think I just to be honest, was being like a stupid sports fan, and I was like just like in enjoying the sport, and I'm usually not that kind of person, I'm just new to watching football. So I was like, you know how I get down, I gotta look into it, and yeah, I don't want my video or my live to end or get taken down or reported. So I'm not gonna tell you exactly the story, but just Google Cristiano Ronaldo scandal and do some digging. And the funny thing is, what woke me up to this was one of my guy friends, um, one of my male homeboys telling me, Yeah, I can't root for him. Yeah, I got sisters, I I can't root for him. So, yeah, um, everyone in the chat is saying it's common knowledge to everyone who follows the sport. I don't follow the sport, I'm new to the sport, so thank you. Um another one, thank you. So, yeah, Google Cristiano Ronaldo's scandal. You'll never look at him the same. And I honestly, that nigga looked like handsome school word, anyways. So, ugh, like I don't know. Something about his presence was very irritating to me, anyways. But his past is questionable as fuck. Speaking of stars of the game, I think one of the important things when you're watching a sport for the first time is you kind of like they're the people you always hear about, and then you learn more about them, and they either become even better and more likable, like Colin, like the Norway guy. Like, I everything new I learned about him, I'm like, shit, that's a cool ass motherfucker. Uh Ronaldo, not so much. Messy, messy, messy with an I is messy with a why. I don't know because Argentina, I knew Argentina Argentina had a racist, a racist reputation because my my best friend is Brazilian. So I already knew the T, I already knew what was happening, I already knew what was up. And call me uneducated. I know how y'all get it. Y'all everybody knew everything before me. I get it. But looking into the history of the situation and the fact that Argentina literally erased their black prop population on purpose, like literally erased and replaced their black pap population, sent them to die on purpose to become more white, and how racist their fans are, like making monkey noises at players. The fact that their team was doing a racist chant about the French team on the bus after winning Copa America, like very, very questionable. And the reason I bring Messi up is because when I made a video about this, a lot of my comments were trying to separate him from it, but it's just like who you are, who you surround yourself with. I don't care. Like, unless you come out and like completely denounce the behavior, I'm sorry, you're a part of the problem to me. And listen, I again I am new, I am new to watching the the sport. They're saying Messi wasn't on the bus. I'm just saying, in general, the fan base being racist and the past of the country, like if it were me and I, you know, that's where I'm from and I wanted to represent my country, I would make a concerted effort to like come out with a statement and be like, knowing the past of my country, like I seek to bring us together through this sport and come together with all different types of people and blah blah blah. Again, don't know if he's done this before, but you would just think that if that reputation was so Surrounding something that you are so deeply connected to, you would completely say, Hey, that's not me. I I know like that the this is where I'm from. We have a trouble pass. Again, like I'm American. Come on. Trouble pass, bitch. Trouble pass, bitch. I come on. I know all about trouble pass. I'm an American and I love my country. But at the same time, I everyone who follow me, all y'all know that I am very, very vocal about exactly how I feel about our country. But I love our I love being an American and I want America to be better, right? So it's just a complicated relationship that everyone has with their country and their government, and blah blah blah blah. But I just feel like if you aren't making a huge effort to distance yourself from racism, if you aren't anti-racist, you are racist adjacent, and that's enough for me.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Woo! Well, got that off my chest. Okay. The chat isn't as scary as I thought it was gonna be. All right. I also learned that Messi gets special treatment bad. Messi gets special treatment real bad. Like, come on, y'all. And again, I'm new to watching the sport, but I have two eyes. That the the Cape Verde game, I was already or Verd. I got corrected on that. The Cape Verde game, I was very, very irritated. Like extremely, extremely irritated. And then the Egypt game, FIFA loves loves Argentina. They love Messi and they want him to win so bad. And it's just like it's a little annoying, but whatever. Okay, the next thing I learned is that the fact that governments can't be involved in the World Cup at all, or their teams will get disqualified. I always wonder how they did like the political state of the world whole thing with like having the World Cup because obviously there's like complicated relationships outside of just sports that happen when it comes to the World Cup or even the Olympics, right? So I always wondered like what the rules were in place to stop things like that from happening, or like you know, political stuff getting into the weeds, and obviously, politicians forever have used sports as a way to spread messaging through you know, through sports. So, like I get it, but like sports are a huge form of propaganda, especially in these like world environments. But that being a rule, it was very interesting to me. But the most interesting part is America breaking it. Uh yeah. The funny thing was America completely breaking that rule and then getting booted from the tournament four to one. And it's so funny because our first game, we won four to one, right? Very poetic how that that came into fruition. But of course, America gonna find a way to cheat, and it still don't work out. Like that's so irritating. Okay, Jude Bellingham. Everybody knows Jude, right? The girls know Jude. I've seen edits of Jude for like years, like everybody knows Jude. You never know, like you know that the fine Nigerian that blew up from the World Cup, the goalie, and everybody's like, oh, he's so fine, need that, need that, need that, and like he's not even playing in the World Cup because I don't think Nigeria qualified. Like, I knew Jude was good, but like he real good. Like he fine. And I didn't know he spoke Spanish, didn't know that. Wasn't familiar with your game, Jude. He, yeah, like I don't really like care that much, but like if I were on the opposing side of the English team, he would be very hard to root against. Like, he just would. He seems very likable. And I saw a video of him stopping to talk to a disabled reporter in Spanish, and it was just really sweet because everyone else was ignoring him. So, yeah. The next one I had was the fine Nigerian goalie is not even playing. That sent me to the moon. Cause how y'all find him? Like, how y'all find him? Like, what the fuck? Like, hey, and more importantly, wasn't he just linking up with Cardi B? Did y'all see that? He was hanging out with Cardi B, and that looked like nothing but trouble. He was standing like this, she was saying, like, I know that's right. I know that's right. The next thing I learned is, I mean, the whole Kate Bird follower goalie situation for Vozinha, that gagged me to hell. Like he went from 50,000 followers to I think, let's see how many he found how many followers he has now. I need to see how many followers he has right now in this moment because every time I look, I feel like he gains a million followers. Deadass. He has 28.5 million followers, bitch. How many followers does Tom Brady? He has almost double the followers Tom Brady has. From one World Cup. That's fucking insane to me. Like, I love that for him. I I really fell in love with that like whole story. The country being so small and like just really the really incredible story. But yeah, the Kate Verde goalie has more followers than Tom Brady. Another thing I learned, listen, you think you can gain followers from going on Love Island, bitch, you better get you better get get to kicking that football because that's how you gain followers. And he's 41 years old. So to have your life completely flip on a 180 and become internationally famous and have more double the followers of Tom Brady in like a couple weeks at 41 years old is crazy. And the last point I have for you guys of things that I learned while watching the World Cup is we never heard that fuck ass jelly roll song again, did we? Did we? I never heard that fuck ass song again. I I was doing all this complaining and hoot and hollering about that game, about that song, and we literally never heard it again. They called in Shakira and they said, please, that Shakira song, I never heard the Tyler Rap song again. Like the only song I hear is the Shakira song occasionally. Like that fuck ass song. That song was so bad they literally eradicated it from the planet. Like, I don't know. Has anyone seen Jelly Roll since? I don't know. Like, I don't know. He he's probably like in hiding. Like, I don't know. You guys, that's it. I just wanted to come on and talk to you guys about everything I've learned watching the World Cup for the first time.
