The Poe Show
Poem: The Drowned Man
Happy Halloween!!!
I hope you all have a spooky, scary, fun time this holiday and eat plenty of candy. This episode is in reference to The Drowned Man series on YouTube, made my one of my favorite YouTubers, Markiplier, and Wade Barnes. If you're unfamiliar with this story, check it out in the link below. I was inspired to write this after listening to their podcast, Distractible. I think these guys are hilarious and I listen to them all the time. Just wanted to give everyone a little joke poem today. I got super busy and I didn't have time to make something longer. But I hope you enjoy this spooky poem of mine, The Drowned Man!

Once upon a midnight dreary, in 2019 of January,
Over many a fun and curious D&D story we wore,
With streaming wrapped, in conversation chipping, suddenly there came a dripping,
As of someone in a puddle skipping, dripping on my basement floor.
‘Tis the AC unit, I muttered, dripping on my basement floor.
Only this and nothing more.
Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak month after December;
And a vein-like bulge had been leaking water upon the floor.
Eagerly I searched the upstairs, vainly I sought to quell my cares
Of damage done to my home anew - damage from water I swore -
From the water in a light fixture pouring on my bedroom floor.
Water here for evermore.
And the clear, glassy, flowing of each cursed drop
Thrilled me, filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, with ceiling fan leaking, I stood repeating
“Tis the bathtub from upstairs Molly drew a bath for,
“Some overflowing bathtub from upstairs Molly drew a bath for,
This it is and nothing more.”
Deep into a madness reeling, long I fought this house, appealing,
Seeking some respite from wettening no mortal thought possible before.
From the AC unit being broken and the pipes bursting open
To incompetent workers spoken, in insanity, mud was needed more.
To the JP poop water bubble, bad drywall and absent source to this horror I abhor.
Water here for evermore.
And the dripping, never ceasing, still is ringing, still is ringing
Through the bones of the house, and walls and floor.
And my eyes have all the seeming of a drowned man’s that is dreaming
And the wetness o’er me steaming throws my money out the door.
And my soul from out that gulf that lies floating on the floor,
Shall be dry - nevermore!
Hello and welcome back to The Poe Show podcast, and a very Happy Halloween to all of you!
Wherever you’re listening from, remember to like, comment and subscribe to or follow this podcast.
Yes, this is really an episode of the podcast, forever, till the end of time. And no, I’m not planning on ever taking it drown. Down, I mean.
I don’t really have much to say about this piece, I was just watching The Drowned Man YouTube series that Markiplier and Wade Barnes did and I had recently listened to the Distractible podcast - hit Distractible podcast - and I heard Wade’s poem so I was inspired to write my own. I suggest you watch that series on YouTube if you don’t get what this poem is referencing, or even if you do, watch it again cause it’s really funny.
Hey, you know what? Maybe I’ll even feature some of my own stories here.
Anyway, short bonus episode cause I got really busy and I don’t have time to do anything longer. So stay safe at night, check your candy, and have a spectacularly spooky day. You’ll hear from me all year round, right here, on The Poe Show podcast.
