Be Prepared!
No one likes the sound of sirens. They indicate something is coming. Something bad, usually. We associate a siren’s warning with emergency responders and storms. They usually tell us that someone has been hurt, or that there is a risk that someone could be hurt soon.
But there’s another side to sirens too. They show that someone is there, paying attention and responding. They show that someone with more information, skill, and authority wants us to be safe.
Second Peter 2 is a siren for believers. There are bad things happening and more to come, so pay attention. But also, God sees it and He will respond just like He always has. There is hope nestled into this warning, pointing us to a God who is always in control and who can be trusted to come through for His people.
