Welcome back to The Game Changing health Podcast. I'm Gianna your host and today I'm here with a very special guest, one of my longtime clients, Madison, I'm going to let her introduce herself to you guys. And we're going to be talking about her journey working with me as my client. Hello. Like Gianna said, I'm Madison, and Northwest Kansas, middle of absolutely nowhere.
Just as we just figured out finished my second year with Gianna, so it's been a good time.
It's been a great time, in my opinion, it's been a great time. So Madison and I worked together initially for a full year. And then she took like a six to eight ish month break. We don't know the exact math, but we know it's roughly around that time gap. And then we just said a whole year together as well. And she's not going anywhere anytime soon. So we're stuck together forever, like peanut butter and jelly at this point. And we love it, we're obsessed with it. We literally just spent like a whole hour talking before we even started recording this episode. And I wanted to have her on the podcast today to kind of share her journey. Specifically highlighting her journey as my client because she's someone who, when we first started coaching, there were so many things going on. But she's really embodied trusting in me and trusting in the process during her whole time with coaching and even made great progress on her own when she was away from coaching for a little bit. And so I wanted her to highlight her story for you guys today. So you can kind of see, I mean, I would like make her if I was like a teacher, I'd be like this is my A plus student. She is I think very inspirational. And she's a really good example of trusting the process and embracing it and being willing to make changes to get to where you want to be. So that's what we're going to chat about today. So to kick it off, let's start with a background give the listeners a little bit of a background on kind of where you were when you first signed up to work with me. I was rough.
It was a rough go. So I have always been the chubby or child. You can look back at any baby photo toddler elementary school, like the second chin. It's genetic. I'm convinced of it. It's not going anywhere. We love it, it's fine.
But it really got bad. I noticed a lot of like excessive weight gain in high school and college. High school, I was very active. I played multiple sports. I was obviously eating the same thing that my friends were eating at lunch, I was eating the same thing that my sister was eating. And let me tell you, we do not look the same. We do not have the same bills. We don't have the same body type. She is
a little twig we'd love her. But it's always kind of like an envious thing. Both sisters actually they're both older than me. And so like growing up, I was always like, Oh, I'm gonna hit that age and you lose all your baby fat. Well, I didn't lose all the babies that I didn't lose like any fat. My face changed a little bit and I looked older and that was basically the extent of that change. And so anyway, this all happened out through high school. I was always bigger
didn't really think much of it. I was just lying there whatever is what it is. I still like I said played sports volleyball basketball track, I cheered like did all of the things and then went off to college and I hate working out. I hated working out. It was the worst thing ever. I think I stepped into the wreck. I went to Emporia State University for my freshman year. I think I stepped into the record total of twice and it was because my older sister was there and she was just like let's go do this and I was like
absolutely not hate this
and very much so gained the freshman 15 Plus on
this continued all through college, I did not work out I did not watch what I ate drank a lot lived my college life until I hit like a wall
would have been my oh gosh, my second senior year my victory lap
all of my friends who graduated at this point. I my roommates all had boyfriends. I was just like chillin by myself and I was like you know what, this sucks minor depression especially seasonal seasonal depression sucks. But it was right before Christmas break going into. I was gonna go back home whatever and I remember it was December 17 I have the photo it's in my snapchat memories. I signed up for the gym in town. I did not go to the rec because all of the pretty sorority girls go to the Rec and I did not go there. I went to the gym across town paid for it and would go at like 10 3011 o'clock at night safest option. Probably not. Did I love it? Absolutely. started doing my own thing there. So December
70 That's in my snapchat memes has the date on it and the timestamp everything. And that's when I decided I'm not going to do this anymore. I'm gonna make a change. I'm going to do things. Fantastic. But I did it wrong.
That was the big keto kick. So I did keto hardcore for six months. Less hard for a full year in that first six months, I lost about 60 pounds. And it was great. Everyone complimented me they're like, Oh my God, you look so good. I'm like I'm starving. And I'm actually you can ask my sister. I was not pleasant to be around. I straight up was a bitch. I was not nice. And it was miserable. Probably for like everyone who was
people happy. They do and I was having
I shit you not less than 30 grams a day.
It was it was bad. Yeah. A lot. A lot of protein. I was high protein high in the fat. Obviously I did keto really well. I was like the poster child for keto. And now I'm just like, No.
Anytime anyone's like, I gotta cut up carbs. And I'm just like, No, you don't. That's because I'm just like, No, you don't.
That's fine. So I did that for
like less strict. Once I graduated, I moved back to my home area, I got a job. I was still pretty strict, but not like as strict. I was living my life, going to work still bringing lunches like all of that. And obviously, that didn't last very long. I think it lasted like a year, maybe like a year and three months on this and then slowly started to gain some of it back. I didn't get all of it back at this point. But about probably 15 pounds consistently. And I kept that off. And then
didn't really find a hole fit. I was still working out. I did the whole Beachbody thing really any like, niche thing that you can think of Been there, done that hated it. I actually really enjoyed it at the time. And now I look back I was like, oh my god, that was a cult. It's fun. But it was and now I'm like I struggle and I have a peloton and I was like, Oh my gosh, this is another coat. But I like that cold. For now.
We need the peloton cold. We like that one a lot. She's a pretty bike. And I can read while I sit there and ride my bike. And it's awesome.
But it was a couple years of just maintaining at this point. And
I think it was
I think like mid March ish, the first time I ever saw you on Insta. And I was like, I can get behind this. And then I just like creeped on you for a long while until I finally was like, Yeah, I can actually do this. And I signed up. I remember you were telling me, or like we did like our whole survey, not survey, you know, I'm talking about? Yeah, the questionnaire. That's the words. And you're just like, how many calories do you consume? And I was like, I don't know, probably like 1500. And you're just like me? Nope, we're not doing that. So I came to lose weight. And I remember like the first like four months I gained weight and I was just like, What the hell is she doing to me? You're just like, it's called a reverse. I said, Why are we reversing? Not what I want. You're like, why?
You're like, I'm not I'm not for reverse. I want to go forward. I know. I was like, this is backwards. And it took a long time. And I was like unhappy with you for the longest time. Like, she sucks. I hate this. Why am I doing this? I signed up for a year. I gotta do it. But I'm so mad, right?
It was rough.
But it's fine. Like I said, By about month like four. I was like, this is fine. We finally accepted it. I was like, Yeah, I actually feel good. Um, for the first time in a long time, because back when I was 17 skipped over that.
I don't have like not having a period for
I think 10 months. My entire freshman year I went without one. And I was like
that's I'm good with that. But that's not normal. So I went obviously got all that checked out. got diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18 Yeah, and
they were just like cool. Here's birth control
out the door and that was it. And so once I got to working with you and obviously you are well versed in the PCOS I forgot I have it sometimes I
Actually at this point now, so we've made great strides
that you're just like, nope, your body needs this. And I was like, I don't think it does. And you're like, yep, yep. Cool. I haven't gotten any degree. I don't know what I'm talking about. I know what I'm talking about. Thank you. So it was it did it took about four months to finally get super
onboard uncomfortable, and actually be like, huh,
I feel better, this makes sense. And honestly, that's not uncommon, because the majority of people that end up working with me specifically do usually need a reverse to start because they've been under eating or very similar to you, they've tried a ton of like fad diets, and they just are not in a spot to continue dieting, and wrapping your head around that to start can be very wild. But if you keep an open mind, and you stick with it, you end up where Madison ended up most of the time, I'd say nine times out of 10. And usually, you know, four to six months later, if you stick with it, you'll listen to me every week telling ya, it's gonna work out, I promise, it's gonna work out, you kind of hit this like, hurdle one day, we're like, wait a second, I actually am feeling better. And that's really wild. Because a lot of times by the time people reach working with me, I feel like they forgot what it's like to actually feel good with enough food in them. So like, they don't actually remember what it's like to have energy levels and to be able to crush workouts and to be able to actually sleep through the night and feel like they have energy to go out and do things like it's just very different. And so I'm proud of you for sticking it out. You made it. Let's say it took a while. But you're right. Like my workouts, I felt better. I was sleeping more consistently. I noticed a lot of it. At least one of the things that I noticed was my heart rate. My resting heart rate had decreased. And I was not doing anything besides actually like eating right. Like, I was still working out the same that I was before it, just it that was one of the weird things. And I was like, I haven't actually changed anything except for this. And you make me drink more water. So
it's a good thing. You're welcome.
Which checks out because consistent states of dehydration can make elevated heart rates. So you know, you were the one who turned me on to the hydro jug, and I bought two, because that's who I am someone who recommend something, I'm gonna be like, I'm gonna love this. And I bought two. And then my sister. I can't say stole because I let her borrow it. But I let her borrow it over two years ago. And I haven't seen that thing since. So I turned it. So she and she inherited it. I was like, it's, you're welcome. Now you're hydrated too. So it's the gift that keeps on giving the hydro jug. It's great. But yeah, well. So then, after that, I
don't think I really even started losing weight at that point, I think we reversed and I was back up in like a maintenance whenever I finished my first year. And then at that point, I started actually looking into getting a tummy tuck. Because when I lost all that weight on keto
kept, like I said most of it off, my stomach just hung over. And I was like I have the funding, I have the flexible job. I'm going to do it. And so I remember taking a couple of months off beforehand
to save up just a little bit more cushion. And then really try to figure out, am I going to be okay on my own.
without checking in weekly, I say weekly, I'm bad about that. Sometimes.
It's okay, we know your lives. And that's what matters.
That's great.
But I wanted to make sure that I was able to do everything on my own and be sustainable with it. And so I remember I think we finished in like September and I had surgery in January.
So made it that far. And I did not gain anything in that time period. I did not lose anything and did not gain sat and happy maintenance. And I had my surgery in January. And I got the all clear to start basically being a human again
about 15 weeks after surgery, and then started just kind of doing things on my own again, and I'm pretty sure in May it was late May. I was like yep, Nope, we're going back
and been back here since last June. So
and I think the really cool
hang about your time away as you were able to have a major operation, but sustain yourself through that, not revert back to previous habits of like under eating, or fad dieting or anything like that you were able to actually nourish your body through your recovery and maintain and also something I feel like you skipped over that I want you to cover because I've seen it is I think you had in your first year. I mean, we kind of talked about how the first four months you thought I was nutty, but you came around eventually. Right. But I think you had like more than that you had a very big mindset shift in your first year. And even in the last year, the second year, basically, we've had together, you've also really progressed mindset wise. So do you want to kind of talk about what that looked like for you? Yeah, so a lot of it, I think it was even last fall, I remember texting you and being like, I'm done. I don't want to diet anymore, I want to switch out I want to get stronger, like I want to get back up to a higher calorie range.
And that's been the biggest I think, for me shift is I obviously would like to see the change, I want to see the physical change on my body. But the scale is not the number one factor anymore. I frankly do not give a shit what that thing says right now.
Probably should I am in a deficit right now.
But yeah, I've really stopped caring. So the scale is actually up post surgery. But body composition is completely changed after that.
So where are
we wait, I carry it very differently now. And it's to the point that I'm just like, I'm okay with this. Like I again, I was still I was even talking to another one of your clients. today. We were chatting, she goes, You got to reel that in, if you would like your your stomach and your back to just and I said, I know, I know this. But I also want my legs and my butt to get bigger. So you see my dilemma. Your transformation specifically was so fun to watch your like my I remember I will never forget this. There was one check in that Madison came to and she just ended her checking that she was upset that her shorts didn't fit. And they had to literally be like Madison, look at your photos. You have a whole different, like set of glutes basically like, yeah, it's like a whole different but basically, because her body composition was so significant while we were sitting at maintenance that she was implementing, you know, regular workouts and lifting that there was such a difference. I'm like your short should not fit. Otherwise, you got to shave your shave your butt muscle off, because it's not. You just need new shorts.
And really going out myself here, but my favorite thing is, I was doing a leg workout one night. And thank goodness, I live in a small small town and I was the only one in our tiny little gym. Because I was doing sumo squats. And instead of like shorts rolling like they're supposed to, when you're doing this mind and they split right out the front and I was like, I'm done. I'm going home pizza now I had just upped weights and I was like, Nope, I'm done.
I actually just unplugged the camera system and finished and then plugged it back in and went home. So
as long as no one actually comes in here, we'll be fine. But I also feel like everyone in this town knows me well enough to just be like, yeah, checks out. This cracks. Yeah.
It's fine. So yeah, none of my shorts from last year fit which my sisters have benefited from. Because I feel like I'm constantly coming to them and being like, these don't fit anymore. Do you want them? These don't fit anymore? Do you want them? And they're just like, Duh, absolutely we do. And it's fine. And to the point my
I don't wear like work clothes ever. My work clothes are actually my dad's old Wranglers that I cut into shorts. And my mom at one point she was like, you can't you and your dad are not the same size. I said, Well, these are his old jeans. But also where dad is out in the front. I stick out in the back. So it balances and what's out. She goes. There's no way those will fit you. And I remember I went to the bathroom and I put them on and I came back and I said these are going to be my new shorts. And I cut them off that night and it's been great. I have a whole stack because my dad I know where I get my hoarding from. He saves all of his old jeans and he's just like, I'm gonna fit into those. I'm gonna fit into those one day or they have holes if that has holes in his jeans. Those are gone.
And finally, he told me one day because I was like, hey,
steal a pair of your old jeans. I cut them into shorts. Thank you. And he goes, Just take them. They make bigger jeans. I'm not fitting into those again.
Thanks, dad. Much appreciated. But yeah, body composition, re composition. It's been. It's been weird, honestly, to
grasp, especially at first, because it's like after surgery, I everything was all still nice and tight, it was all still pulled and where it needed to be. And I say needed. It didn't need to be anywhere I made it that way.
But after a couple of months, when I mean I was I've put more back on and my stomach, and I've built muscle elsewhere to that, like I started to see stretch marks and I was like what the hell and I was like, oh, yeah, there's a normal, it's fine. But it's always that like initial. And I know that it's just like, ingrained into so many people's brains to that, like these are bad. These are bad for us. And
when I started
seeing the sky, he has stretch marks on like his arms. And I was just like, Oh my God, that's because you grew really big muscles. I grew really big muscles too. That's why I have those. We are twins. And it really took literally seeing a man with them to be like this track, which sucks.
But it's fine. But it does check out. I think, too,
when we've been so accustomed to thinking a certain way for a really long time. It takes, I mean, you've heard me say this a million times it takes like active like daily participation to like unworked some of these thoughts, especially for having an off week or an off month, especially I find a lot of clients struggle more during winter, because we're all upset with the bad weather. And like just in general, we're just in a worse mood because the weather sucks. Madison is in Kansas, and I'm in Colorado. So pretty much I can tell her what's coming her way. Because it's I'm seeing my house and coming to hers. Like this year, I was texting her like, we're getting so much rain, be prepared. And then literally the fields flooded. And I was like that is not what we wanted. But we've got rain, so rain. So there's that. But like I think especially, you know, he struggled with this a little bit this year of like, we struggled with body image for a bit. And it was during those winter months where we weren't feeling as good. And then it was kind of transitioning into nicer weather. And we were struggling with the shorts and struggling with kind of that, that mind twist of like, for a really long time. If we've worked to be smaller, it's weird to see things get bigger, but in a like in a positive way, like you've put Madison's put a significant in my opinion amount of muscle onto her physique. And that you have to have bigger clothes. When that happens. Like you can't just fit in the same pair of we'll just keep using your shorts for as an example, as when you keep wearing the same set of shorts. But your boots have grown significantly, you literally rip them in half
turn your workouts
was is those were like a week old. I was just like convincing myself I was like, Oh, these fit these fit. If I don't do anything if I am
understanding, like if I'm just gonna stand right here all day long these fit. And I was like, This is great, because I didn't want to see the size go up. And then I literally and it's funny because I will tell this to other people. But like hearing it for myself, I was like, I was like I'm the only one that sees what size that is. No one else is ever going to know. No one else probably hears, and if they do that's on them.
So like I tell that to like my friends who have kids. One of my really good friends. She bless her heart popped out two beautiful little babies 13 months apart. Oh my gosh. And now she's she's struggled with that too sometimes. And I've told her that too. I was like, Dude, you literally birthed two children within 13 months. You didn't like your body didn't have time to even be like, Oh my gosh, I'm glad that kids out before you put another one in there. Like you have to be so nice to yourself. And she goes, Yeah, you're right. And then she'll be like, so how are you? And I was like, huh, we're talking about you right now. I don't want you to circle this back on me. I am fine. She's a nurse was back in like winter. She goes That's a lie.
I know. Thank you.
Tell my therapist that like we are all in the same circle year that we know winter is rough. But
that's one thing where she'll even go on she's like these don't fit anymore. There's I sent by bigger pair. They make bigger clothes. Like if it gets to the point that you're like, I am uncomfortable. I like I have
health issues I said, then that's probably like your time to maybe reevaluate things. But if you're just literally living your life and raising two kids, buy the bigger better.
Buy bigger shoes when you outgrew them growing up, like, why are jeans any different?
So that that's it right there. I think one of my favorite things watching your evolution and like your first year of coaching was, it was more like, why the heck are you making me more? Okay, actually, I'm like eating more than we were at maintenance. So you're right, we were at maintenance when you ended your first year of coaching. And we kind of knew you were thinking of the tummy tuck. So I was like, I wouldn't recommend a deficit, I would stay here if you're gonna have surgery, especially because like enough food in us is really important for wound healing. And there's a pretty significant, like amount of incision and stitches and to heal on a tummy tuck. So that's what I recommended. You did your time there. And then you came back and my favorite evolution for you when you came back, she promised she would come back, you guys. And I was like, holding on to that because I was like, I love her so much. We, we just, we like we bonded. It's just different. Just being honest. Like with some clients, it's just different. Like, we bonded so fast. And her first year that I was so upset when she was leaving, I understand it, like understand that that's not even a word. I understood it.
When I'm so like I was I was genuinely sad. I was like,
she's flying the nest. And she was totally capable of flying the nest two, because in her first year, she really took everything I was saying to her, she asked questions in a really nice way and was like, why are we doing this? Can you explain this and like, she really took what we were doing together and like, absorb it like a sponge. She understood why we were doing things and how we were doing things and where we should live our life. And that's what made her such a great client. And she was so willing to like learn and implement and execute it. And even on days where I like loved she started coming to check ins by like the end of her first year. And she would she would be like, I'm working on it. She was like I already know, I'm working on it. And so her awareness just increased her habits. And it's what made her such a great client. I mean, she's still here. So she's still a great client. But in that first year progression for her was so significant because she went from being a fad diet person who was not eating enough to someone that was like, I really enjoy eating enough. And that was really significant. So when she came back, we did start a deficit for a bit and then she was like, abort mission. I don't want to do this, I miss my food. Like i i This just isn't for me right now. And so that for me as a coach is like one of my like, heartwarming moments, because I think for a lot of people, they think that they have to be in a deficit, because that's just what they're used to. They've always been used to trying to lose weight or they've always been used to restricting calories. So they feel like okay, well John is telling me that I have to reverse them incident maintenance. But now I need to go back into a deficit. And
that's just not it. Right. Like, you don't have to be in a deficit if you don't want to be so for me and my co chair. I was like, you don't want to be an adult this thing. Oh my God, look at you, bro. I was like, wow, this is cool. Like, I literally have tears in my eyes as I'm saying this, but it was just such a cool moment. Because for for me, I got to watch her be like wait a second. I don't have to dye it right now. I don't want to dye it right now. And I'm like, Yes, that's it. This is like Willy Wonka where there's like the golden tickets and the chocolate bar. I'm like, this is the golden ticket. Right? She hit it like this is this is the jack like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is no it's not called a jackpot. That's what it's called when you went and gambling right? I don't know, I don't gamble.
Um, I've only gambled like, twice in my entire life. So I'm hated it each time. I just don't understand why you give money away to lose it. But maybe that's because I haven't won. But either way, it was very cool to see your progression. And now see you thriving, you know, we've just hit two years, not like it wasn't consecutive, but basically 24 full months of working together and you're very self sufficient now. Like for sure 100% self sufficient, she'll still come to check ins and be like, yep, working on it. Don't look at it. And I'm like, okay, like, I mean, I'm still gonna look at it, but okay, we have that awareness. We're good. And then there's some weeks where she won't check in and I know she's alive. So I'm like she's alive. And then she'll send her next check in and be like, so here I am. And I'm like, here we are.
My favorites whenever you're like I saw your stories you didn't check in. But you're here as well if you saw my stories
for all the drinks on
So anyway, this week was a lot of liquid calories.
It's it's fine. There's no fiber in those by the way.
If there was I wouldn't be living my best life. Yeah, the thing Madison and I have worked on forever that she she just clicked with a few months ago is getting her fat intake down. Do you want to tell people what you do too? This will make more sense. Oh my gosh. So we raise cattle and farm. And for the longest time, I still don't I text her or I will send her a video like every time I get groceries and I'm just like, Look at this. I bought pork. I bought chicken. You're welcome. I've been I've been on a ground turkey kick lately. And I just
that is sometimes that's probably gonna be my like, it needs more check in just to be like a compliment yourself. Like, what are you proud of? Like, I'm proud of myself. Are you in Turkey? Because I don't like to eat bird. We raised cattle.
I've had a freezer full of red meat my entire life. I did not know that people bought hamburger at a grocery store until I was like 13 years old. I kid you and everyone I knew.
Like I was like, What do you mean you? Because I was remember I was talking to one of my good friends in college. One of my best friends we live together. And if I cooked it was a like beef meal. Like that was our protein. If she cooked it was chicken. And I was like, Man, I remember the most upsetting thing. This is a weird tangent. But the most upsetting thing one time was she had texted me. And I was coming home from work. She's like, Hey, I made chili for supper. I was so excited. I wanted that Midwest chili and cinnamon rolls. And I get there and it is a crock pot full of chicken and like it's white. And I'm like, What is this? And she goes, it's like white chicken chili or something like that. And I was like, No, you cannot call this chili. I am upset now. It was delicious. And I've asked for this recipe so many times afterwards.
But
it was not. It was not chili. So, um, that was fine. But like I said, we raise beef. And so transitioning into the lower fatty options was difficult. I was over on my fat macros every frickin week. But not even just like a little it was a little.
So those have finally been like reeled in recently, and then my fiber has gone down. So we gotta get that one back up. But it's fine. Um, and so being able to kind of like switch foods. And in the summertime, it's fine.
It's a little bit easier I've noticed to switch over, then.
winter, winter, I just eat heavier. Like summertime, I want all the veggies and fruits, winter.
They definitely do just taste better in the summer, but I will never forget. He like texted me one day and we're like, I bought turkey bacon. Be proud of me. And I was like I'm really.
But that is something we worked on forever and ever and ever. And she never gave up. We literally talked about it all the time. I even made like her deal. Like if your labs come back, okay, we don't have to worry about it too much. But then how labs came here and they were a little bit elevated and when you have PCOS, you are at higher risk of having higher like cholesterol levels, triglyceride levels, LDL levels. And so they came back and I was like party's over.
I was like Sorry, not sorry. But we have to rein this in now and she's been really good. She's been raining it and and learning but that just goes to show you like if she was probably a client for a year and a half before they actually started raining in so that just goes to show you that you can be here for a year and a half and still make improvements. Her mindset has continued to improve her habits have continued to improve. She's more consistent with exercise in the second 12 months that we've had together than she was in her first four months. She's continuing to build a lifestyle with healthy habits that fits and works for her because she has different seasons. I'm learning all about the harvesting you guys like I remember when we like plant and when we harvest now like I've learned all of this during our time Taylor so I've learned a lot from Madison also but I like I know when she's in different seasons, she's sitting more often. And so we take that into consideration when we're thinking about what she's going to be doing or what phase of dieting or like nutrition she's going to be in and so we take all that into account and again, I think one of the things that makes Madison such a solid client is she's willing to take direction. She thought I was crazy at first but then she really grew to be like okay, Gianna is not just like tossing me around just for fun and making me do this stuff that I don't want to do. Everything I did was with love and there's definitely been champions who are sent her back and I'm like I say this with love, but we got to get it together. And it's it's for her benefit, right? And so, we've built and honestly this is like the really
externship I hope that everybody can have with the person they're working with. But it's definitely it goes both ways. Right of like, if you only wanted to speak to me check ins and didn't want to tell me anything about what's going on in your life, that's fine, too. But that is not the coach client relationship that Madison and I developed, we developed a very solid coach client relationship or like,
we miss each other. I know.
I'm like,
it was a rough time apart. And I remember in our first year together, I, I mean, I don't know if you know this, you probably do. I'm assuming you figured it out. At this point, I would not tell you everything. Like my check ins would be like, Oh, I did. So good. Look at all this give me a gold star. Now I'm just like, Nah, man, that week was that one sucks.
We're gonna circle back. Try that, again. I use a lot more emojis, and exclamation points. And a lot of capitalization now feels like I'm yelling at you all the time.
Or if I
like a good check in and I just send like eight different like little snippets. This is good. Or a video. Here you go. I'm no, this is not what you wanted. But it's what you're getting this week. My favorite is like the in between check in notes where Madison will be like, prepare to be amazed. And I'm like, Okay, I'm waiting for it. And so I hope that everybody can kind of have the coach client relationship that we have at this point, because I think it does make a pretty significant difference. If like, you're all in with someone, you trust them, you have this like great relationship and makes a difference and your experience. And also my experience is your coach as well. But I think that it's so significant to be able to fully trust the person you're working with. Because if you don't, it's going to work against you at some point, I think, because if on the coaching side, I don't know everything, and then you're at a disadvantage as the client. And so that's definitely a very good point. And I think your last 12 months has been so wildly successful between your positive mindset shifts and moving away even from like what the scale says, and we're looking at your photos and your body composition changes. And just like all of these non scale victories that are actually big physique, victories, and also big victories in your internal health, right. I, one of my favorite texts I've ever gotten from you is how you went to the doctor. And what did you you said, like that your doctor said they like you had like the best labs ever, or something like that. That was the best because I, again, small town, I've had the same doctor my entire life,
since I was a little bit to a full adult.
And she was the one who
her and an AP RN, a. Those are the right, that's the right order those I think, anyway, a nurse practitioner. Um, they were the ones who kind of work together to diagnose my PCOS. And then I worked more with the nurse practitioner after that, because she's like, this is my primary was like, that's kind of more her speed. And it was great. She retired kind of mad at her about that. But anyway, my primary has still been my primary for my entire life. And so she has seen all of my blood work all of the time. And we're facing we're Facebook friends, and she knows what's going on.
And when she saw them, we were going through them. That's what she told me, she goes, these are the best labs that you've ever had. And I was just like, Heck, yeah. Thank you. I'm very hard. Thanks. That was one of those all text, like all capital letter text messages that I got from her. And I was like, This is so exciting. Like, that's so huge for a physician to say to you like, this is the best this is looked because a lot of times, we obviously can't see internal health optimization and improvements, because it's internal. But then we see that proof basically through those labs. And so that is so huge to like, see that pay off as well. And it's only going up from here. But that kind of leads me to like to ask questions for you. So first question, if, like, what would you tell someone if they're going through a similar journey where maybe they've tried fad diets and then hasn't worked out and they're trying to go about it the right way. Now maybe they're in reverse or maybe they've reversed or maintenance?
Or they're just similar? They have PCOS like you and I and they just are still trying to get a hang on it and they want to be like you with the best lab work that their doctors ever seen. What would your biggest or like best piece of advice be to them with everything that you've learned in our two years plus together? Right? A lot of it is I just talking to people, they follow a lot of the social media. And you and I were talking about this before but not all parties on social are as trustworthy and they're not
giving the best information and plus, what you see on social isn't a one size fits all. I think you've seen that in all of your clients, I don't think you probably have two that are on the same plan.
But that's it is your body is your body. And it is it's not a one size fits all, you can't just do a 30 day fitness workout thing. And think that this is going to be the like, cure all, it's not an end all be all it is a day to day, there's ups and there's downs.
Transformation. And if you can't afford to work with a coach, or you're not ready for that full commitment,
just start keeping track of your food. I say that, as I'm really bad about tracking right now. But
that was a big one is actually see what's going into your body, like on judgmentally. Just, oh, here's what I had, I'm gonna track this, even if it's not like 100%. Because when you do decide that you are going to want to lose weight, or you're trying to do this was one of the first questions that you asked me was how many calories do you consume? If I wasn't already tracking? I would not have known that. And I think that that would be really beneficial. That and if you are thinking about working with someone, do some research before jumping in, like I said, I think I stalked you on and stuff for a couple of months before finally was like, Yep, I'm gonna do this.
And it worked out great, obviously, here we are.
But I've also jumped into you're actually the second dietician that I've worked with. And
the first one did not mesh well. And I think getting on a like month to month, or just like a three month trial to see how you mesh with someone is important, because
I've worked like I said with another dietitian, and it was a I'm not gonna say one ad, because I mean, frankly, a lot of the advice was very similar.
But it's how it was being given. And you got to know what are you going to be receptive to
also know it's not going to happen overnight. You can gain weight overnight, you're not going to lose an overnight I know that is 100% what people think. And then even now I'm like, Oh my gosh, I lost three pounds in a week was like no, you didn't it
you're you're just back down to where you're supposed to be, typically.
But that would be like I said, do some research.
Talk to your primary, they might have some recommendations. But some it's not a one size fits all. wasn't even a one size fits all. I don't think I would doing anything remotely similar to what we did my first year. Because we adapt. Yeah, we just adapt and we go with your different seasons of life, and that's what any good coach should do with their clients.
PSA, for Madison's experience, if you're creeping on Instagram slide into my DMs I don't I can dock. Um, okay. One last question. If someone's thinking about working with me, specifically, what would you say to them? 100% do it.
It's actually to the point that my sister trusts you. Because she will be like, hey, what would your lady say about this? Because she started tracking her macros and she's like, I only want to lose like five. She goes, I know what five pounds is not a lot. But I'm gonna try to get on top of it before it gets to be a lot. I said that's fair. So the number of like macro questions and like her fat content is also through the roof shopping. I know.
Like trends down and I was like it took a long time.
But for anyone actually like wanting to work with you again. 100% I would say do it.
Mass Senate everybody listen.
