Introducing Areej, a remarkable Moroccan-Sudanese singer-songwriter hailing from West London, whose artistic journey has been shaped by her heritage. Areej carries depth and soulfulness in her voice; a voice cut from silk that shimmers and shakes like Tangiers reflected on the water.
Despite facing a series of challenges early in her career, this determined 26-year-old, known for her mesmerizing ‘dark blues’ sound, decided to pursue her musical dreams straight out of university.
Now with her 2022 debut EP, G.B.O.F, Areej weaves together sultry urban-led jazz and soulful R&B. Her ultimate goal is to claim music as her own, seeking the freedom it provides. This project, born out of pure pain, has transformed something difficult into something beautiful.
