Yes, you were an enemy of God's. But no longer. But you may wonder how that could be considering how much you have sinned in your life. Well, that's the Good News. Listen in and find out exactly what that Good News for you is.

I hope you enjoyed this episode of Brother Scott's Look in the Book, and most of all, I pray you learned from it and that it helped you dive deeper into God's word, which he places above his very name.
(Psalm 138:2 KJV) (2) I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

God gives us instruction on how to study our Bibles:
(2 Timothy 2:15 KJV) (15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Please do not only go by what I say, but do the work and study for yourself.
"Anything I can talk you into, someone else can talk you out of."

Hi! This is Brother Scott with another Truth Time, Look in the Book!

So, what stands out to you in this verse?
(Romans 5:10 KJV)
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
What stands out to me is this: "...when we WERE enemies..."
Past tense.
We [the world, you] are no longer God's enemies.
God is not angry with you, and he is not judging you.
Why?
Because you are no longer his enemy.
How?

Check this out:
(2 Corinthians 5:19 KJV)
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
"...God was..." - past tense.
"...reconciling the world unto himself..." - God cannot reconcile himself to sin.
"...not imputing..." - not counting, not charging
"...their trespasses (sins) unto them..." - the world, you included.
"...and hath committed..." - given.
"...unto us..." the world, you included.
God is not looking to take you to the woodshed today.
In the Old Testament, animal sacrifice and money were required for Israel's sin atonement, and if the atonement met God's instructions, God granted Israel immediate forgiveness.

But the atonement was required for Israel to perform annually.
(Leviticus 16:34 KJV)
And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.
That was the good news for Israel.
The bad news was:
(Hebrews 10:4 KJV)
For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
It only satisfied God until the next time it had to be done.

So, you may be wondering by now, "What does that have to do with me?"
I'm glad you asked.
(Romans 5:11 KJV) And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
"We" is the world, and that includes you.
(2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV)
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Jesus Christ lived a perfect, sinless life, so he was God's perfect atonement.
While it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins, it was possible for the blood of Christ to take away sins, and it did.

So now what?
(2 Corinthians 5:20 KJV)
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
"OK, so how can I be reconciled to God?" you ask?
By believing and trusting in the gospel that saves today. Notice the words, "the gospel," at the beginning of this passage:
(1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV)
(1) Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
(2) By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
(3) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
(4) And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Believe and trust in that fact, and you will be reconciled to God. The circle will be complete. God reconciled himself to you at the cross, then you reconciled yourself to God by trusting and believing in the gospel that saves today.

When you stop to really think about it, how glorious is this good news?!
No works whatsoever!
(Romans 4:5 KJV)
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
And to drive home the point of no works being required for salvation:
(Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV)
(😎 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
(9) Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Ok, now what are you going to do with this information?
May I offer a suggestion?
(2 Corinthians 6:2 KJV)
(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
Please don't wait. There is no reason to. When you wake up in the morning, there is no guarantee you will see bedtime.
NOW is the day of salvation, IF you so choose.
