Listen with an open King James Bible as Brother Scott Evans teaches on the Biblical word, "Knowledge," and what it means for your salvation. It just may change where you spend eternity. Grace and Peace.

I hope you enjoyed this episode of Brother Scott's Look in the Book, and most of all, I pray you learned from it and that it helped you dive deeper into God's word, which he places above his very name.
(Psalm 138:2 KJV) (2) I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

God gives us instruction on how to study our Bibles:
(2 Timothy 2:15 KJV) (15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Please do not only go by what I say, but do the work and study for yourself.
"Anything I can talk you into, someone else can talk you out of."

Hi! This is Brother Scott with another, Truth Time Look in the Book!
Today is part 27 in my series, Bible Key Words and Meanings A-Z.
All references are from the King James Bible.
I will be referencing quite a few verses, so perhaps take some notes as you listen.
We move on to the letter, K.
The word today is, "Knowledge."

And speaking of knowledge, did you know that the red letter "N" on the helmets of the University of Nebraska football team stands for, "Nowledge?"
I'm sorry, but being an Iowa Hawkeyes fan, I just had to poke fun at our neighbors to the west in Nebraska.
Please forgive me.

More seriously though, in time past, God spoke to the people of Israel through his profit, Hosea:
 Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee,

That is from Hosea chapter 4 verse 1 and verse 6 in part.

In the books of Matthew and Mark, Christ gives us knowledge about his upcoming death on the cross, and it was the fact that he would die for MANY:
(Matthew 20:28)
(28) Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

But AFTER the cross, and after the conversion of Saul of Tarsus, who was later called Paul, we gain the knowledge that Christ died for ALL:
(1 Timothy 2:5-6)
(5) For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
(6) Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Paul was the due time testifier.

Now, to set the stage for the remainder of this study, allow this verse from our Apostle Paul to sink down into your ears (Jesus actually used those exact words in Luke 9:44):
(2 Timothy 2:7)
(7) Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

Hear that? Considering what Paul says in his 13 epistles is how we can glean understanding in all things. I want to have understanding in all things that Paul tells us, don't you?

Now, we have knowledge of the righteousness of God without the law, and knowledge of the mystery:
(Romans 3:21)
(21) But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, (made known) being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
(Colossians 1:25-29)
(25) Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
(26) Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
(27) To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
(28) Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
(29) Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

And Paul continues:
(Colossians 2:1-3)
(1) For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
(2) That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
(3) In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Paul prayed for the saints at Ephesus, which would apply to us today as well:
(Ephesians 1:17-19)
(17) That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
(18) The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know (may have knowledge of) what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
(19) And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

Many who do not rightly divide the word of truth, the gospel of our salvation, will quote THIS verse which is actually not to us today, but to Israel under covenant in ages to come:
(Hebrews 10:26)
(26) For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

But now, under grace during the dispensation of grace, our salvation does not require our continuous good behavior. When we sin after trusting in the gospel of our salvation, we have the knowledge that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit and our salvation remains intact, because God's seal cannot be broken.
(Ephesians 1:13-14)
(13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
(14) Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

If for some reason we lose our initial faith, we remain sealed in Christ due to God's grace!
Hallelujah!

Furthermore, our Apostle Paul is to be our pattern:
(1 Timothy 1:16)
(16) Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

And what did Paul our pattern do that we should emulate?
(Philippians 3:7-8)
(7) But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
(8) Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

And what things were gain to Paul? He tells us:
(Galatians 1:14)
(14) And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

Wow, just think about that!
Paul says that even though he profited in the Jews' religion above many of his own nation, he gave it all up.
After Paul's conversion on the road to Damascus, Christ revealed to Paul that through him a big change was taking place.
So what did Paul our pattern do?
He did what we should do: he left his religion.
He referred to it as dung, which is what religion actually remains to be today.
Remaining in religion today is what Paul warned us against.
When we cling to our religion, Paul says in
(2 Timothy 3:7) that we are:
(7) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Don't let that be you!

Tragically, religion continues to mislead most self-proclaimed Christians.
Instead of
(2 Timothy 2:15) which tells us:
(15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

men allow their tradition, vain babblings, and misapplied doctrine to be deeply ingrained within themselves.
They remain under the slavery of the bondage of their religion, which is something Paul warned us against:
(Galatians 5:1)
(1) Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

We are to come out from under the yoke of the bondage of religion which so many remain under, and that is a daily endeavor.
It's why Paul tells us in:
(Romans 12:1-2)
(1) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
(2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

And Paul said in:
(2 Corinthians 4:16)
(16) For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

Then Paul tells us this about putting on the new man:
(Colossians 3:5-11)
(5) Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
(6) For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
(7) In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
(8) But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
(9) Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
(10) And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
(11) Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

As Truth Time Radio's Trey Searcy has said and I quote:
"Some are inadvertently misleading themselves by hanging on to baseless platitudes that came their way via mama said, daddy said, preacher said." End quote.
Trey has also been known to say that many park in the church lot, unzip their foreheads, and place their brain in the glove box before going in to church.
Their knowledge is gleaned only from the preacher at their church.
They do not do as the noble Bereans did, which I quote at the end of every Bible study:
(Acts 17:10-11)
(10) And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
(11) These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

People don't crack open their Bibles to test what their preacher says. Their knowledge relies on what the preacher tells them instead of relying on what the word of God would be telling them if they would only take time to study it.
Truly tragic when you think about it, because the King James Bible is available to most everyone.

Here is another great passage concerning knowledge. Some may not realize the small g, god of this world, is Satan:
(2 Corinthians 4:3-6)
(3) But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
(4) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
(5) For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
(6) For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

That passage is a powerful declaration of the spiritual battle over perception and truth, which is a contrast between blindness and divine illumination. The imagery of light shining out of darkness reminds us of:
(Genesis 1:3)
(3) And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

and it reinforces the transformative power of the gospel revealed in Christ.

Also in time past, knowledge of the dispensation of the grace of God was not known because it was a mystery hidden in God:
And what is the mystery we are to have knowledge of?
It is knowledge of the dispensational change in the gospel message for today:
(Ephesians 3:1-6)
(1) For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
(2) If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
(3) How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
(4) Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
(5) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
(6) That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:

Knowledge of the mystery which had been hid in God is imperative to our understanding of how salvation is obtained today:
(Ephesians 3:9)
(9) And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
(Romans 11:25)
(25) For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant (lack of knowledge) of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

So, set time aside every day in order for all of us to grow in God's grace and in his knowledge together.

The subject of knowledge is so vast that it could be an entire day-long study and still not address it all.
But I will leave you with this passage from our Apostle Paul.
Listen to the words:
(Ephesians 3:14-19)
(14) For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
(15) Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
(16) That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
(17) That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
(18) May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
(19) And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

My prayer is that this information will prompt you to study your King James Bible for yourself and absorb and internalize the incredible importance of learning and retaining as much knowledge of God's word as possible during our short time here on earth.

OK, that will do it for now.
Like the noble Bereans did with Paul’s messages, I urge you to search the scriptures to see if what I am teaching is true.
You can find that in Acts 17:10-11.
Also, prove all things. 1 Thessalonians 5:21.
And finally, please do not place confidence in what I say.
Psalm 118:8-9.
