Join us as we pull up a virtual chair with none other than Liz Saunders, the charismatic Queen of From! Alex & Lizzie unpack the three powerful words she initially used to describe the season: chaos, hope, and love. Our chat takes a deeper turn with Liz’s innovative word, "under the skin," a phrase that perfectly embodies how the show is managing to seep into everyone's consciousness.

This episode also offers a chance to journey with Liz as she examines the development of her character, Donna. We delve into the nuances of her role, how she has grown over the season, and the complexities she's had to navigate. Liz also opens up about her real-life relationship with her husband and how it influences the dynamics between their characters, Donna and Dale. But the revelations don't stop there! Liz gives us a personal look into a health concern she faced during the filming of the last two episodes and how it affected her performance. Trust us, you don't want to miss this enlightening conversation with Liz Saunders!

Podcastica. Fun, in-depth talk about great TV.

Speaker 1:

Welcome folks. We have the Queen of From This is what is from cast. We have Liz Saunders And thank you so much for joining us And I we have A pleasure. Oh, thank you so much. In the beginning of the season, we had the pleasure of asking you to give three words, and it was chaos, hope and love. If you remember that, Yeah. Has that changed a little bit? since you know this, the whole story has been written, And what's your thoughts on that?

Speaker 3:

I. Chaos is still in there, no question, our love is in there. I'm going to repeat something I said earlier and it's a word I've made up. It's called under the skin. Under the skin because it's creeping under us all literally worms in void, but also it's getting under our skin. It's getting real, yeah.

Speaker 2:

I definitely feel that from is under my skin for sure. So I had an epiphany during this season at one point And I'm convinced that Donna is a mole. Lizzie, i'm convinced I think you've been promoted, and the thing about it is that I'm interested in the story that could go along with that happening. So, at any rate, does Donna worry that she's mishandled Randall in the process of this?

Speaker 3:

I'm no, but that's not to say that she can't come to that conclusion. I think, still in the midst of like yeah, yes, and what's in 10, i could see Donna coming to that place. I don't think she's there yet.

Speaker 1:

That said, donna's had her ups and downs this season And there's been a lot of Donna, which we love because everybody that we've talked to, the first words out of their mouth are two things We need more Donna and we need more episodes. Honestly, it's not. It's honest. That's what it is. How has Donna grown over the season? How have you played her as she's grown? Has it changed?

Speaker 3:

I think I found her as an actor. I've found her right in my body now, like I think in season one it was, i was in it, but a little maybe other people see it and I don't need to know I know that I was still finding her In two I feel like I came in and I was like I know this person's but I know this person. now I'm always there and talk stuff about her. And I think the other thing too is just that things seeing patterns getting deep. we're not finding necessarily new things about Donna, but we're seeing how she copes with things that seem to be themes for her, but they're getting richer and deeper and more complex And I think part of that is bringing in her. we're seeing now that she can really see Ethan, that she stops and she doesn't just deal with big pictures. now we're now see her that she does. she can slow right down and see another human being and talk to them.

Speaker 1:

That was a sweet moment with you and Ethan. It was lovely And also the last episode with you and Boyd. You just killed it.

Speaker 3:

Thank you.

Speaker 2:

I have not seen it, yet It's amazing. It exceeded hopes, dreams, expectations, tons of chaos, loved every second And you know what I ended it with? and I loved it.

Speaker 3:

Loved it So. I'm gonna tell you a little secret that I'm probably not supposed to tell, And it's not about the show, but and Smiley may be my voodoo doll My gallbladder started to blow during the last two episodes.

Speaker 2:

Oh, my God.

Speaker 3:

So I was not myself, because I was just A hoping I wouldn't end up on the emergency batting gallbladder removal, which I did later, but also it just I was really like feeling not myself And so I was really nervous that I was not delivering. So this is very helpful. But when I saw the bile stuff with Smiley I was like okay, that's freaky Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I loved it. So since we've got the last minute morning, i just wanna say thank you so much for delivering a wonderful season, and also it was so wonderful to watch you and your husband play out the dynamics between Donna and Dale.

Speaker 3:

Loved it.

Speaker 2:

I loved it.

Speaker 1:

We're waiting for the sitcom of you two, because when you're using him so well in the last scene, as well as when you stick him into the box, the room Yeah yeah, yeah. As you like to call it on Twitter. the sex room, The freaky sex room. yeah, I love that.

Speaker 3:

I have to tell you I love that too I love that.

Speaker 1:

I love that answer. But thank you so much, liz, and you have been. I keep telling people all the time it's you, it's Boyd and it's Victor. you should all be nominated.

Speaker 3:

That's really good for you, thank you, thank you. Yeah, i know I'll hold my breath, but Yeah, You should So it was my No. I think I shan't. I shan't hold my breath, but I thank you, Thank you.

Speaker 2:

Okay, bye. Thank you so much, bye thank you. Thank you.
