This episode follows our adventures on The Road To Us Tour that started in Brookfield, Wisconsin, and ended in Des Plaines, Illinois. In order to meet our followers we did a live broadcast on Facebook, Shaun "tailgate" passing out goodie bags for fans arrival to the show, and ran a Shaun poster photo op--which kept the energy rising. The VIP Q&A peeled back layers on Shaun Cassidy’s career, while also hearing the story behind the now-beloved line “surprisingly good.”
In St. Charles, the goodie bags and photo ops continued in front of the theatre and an after-show get-together turned a slideshow into a Shaun scrapbook. We also met a fan in cancer treatment whose joy over a Shaun swag bag reminded us why small gestures count. In Des Plaines, threatening weather became an invitation when the venue welcomed us inside, gave us space, and helped us host a flowing photo op. A front-row ticket giveaway brought a listener from St. Louis, and a local radio personality stopped by for a picture.
If you love fan culture, tour stories, and the way music bridges decades, you’ll find a lot to hold onto here—laughs, Q&A gems, and the simple truth that showing up matters. If this resonated, tap follow, share it with a friend who needs a little 70s sparkle, and leave a quick review to help more fans find the show.

Parking Lot Welcome And Tailgate Plans
SPEAKER_03Hey everybody, we are here. Sean Squad Society Podcast is on vaccine in Brookville, Wisconsin. We are here, myself, Dharise, Cindy, and Wednesday. Dave came all the way from Oklahoma to be at the show.
SPEAKER_05With the Sean Squad.
SPEAKER_03And we can't wait to see everything.
SPEAKER_04We can't wait. It's all we're all excited, and we got Sean here with us in a certain form.
SPEAKER_03And we're gonna have, if you come by and see us before you go in this evening, we have treats, goodie bags, surprise gifts. We have so much stuff for you, and it's gonna be so much fun at the show. But we wanna make your arriving to the show experience a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_04Take your picture with them. You'll be in the parking lot here with us. This will be a fun show.
SPEAKER_02Look at that hair.
SPEAKER_03We're gonna be coming back to you again later, but make sure to come and see us before you go in. From his teen idol days to his recent adventures back on the road again.
SPEAKER_05Please join us for the stories and memories that connected us to those happy days that helped create the Sean Squad Society podcast.
SPEAKER_04Hey girls, this is gonna be an exciting episode today. I don't know about you, but I am tired and excited at the same time.
SPEAKER_03Can you be both? I I know I am. I'm like tired sided or some. How do you message? Like a hangover. Yeah, we were so excited. Concert hangover.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I had fun. I got to fly to Chicago. Yeah, we all met together and we went to three shows. We got to see the show in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04A little suburb of Milwaukee. Then back to Illinois, where we are from, and we attended the St. Charles Show and the Displained Show. Yeah. It was a whirlwind because it was one day after another. It was three days in a row.
SPEAKER_03Can I just say I don't know how rock stars or anybody do it? How do they do that day after day? And then not just like a performer at home on a stage and a play, but get on an airplane or a bus and travel to another. Oh, I know. And get up and do it again. I couldn't, I could barely walk out of the city. Me either. The first show. Yeah. The Brookfield show. I thought I was done for.
SPEAKER_05But you didn't give up. You had so much energy, but yet you didn't.
SPEAKER_04There's no way we could be groupies.
SPEAKER_03There's no way. Yeah, right. Not at this age. Not at this age. But you know, maybe people don't even know why we were so tired. Let's let's tell them. What made us busy with this?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So, okay, Dame flew in from Oklahoma because she lives in Oklahoma. We're in Illinois. And we went straight to the Wisconsin show. Right there from the airport. Drove right up from the airport.
SPEAKER_05Right to the Cindy picked me up again. She's always driving me around on these trips.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so we just start on our venture from there. We we were like Alma Louise plus one on an adventure across the place wise. Right. Move over. Here we come. Here we come. Yeah, we got up to Milwaukee. Well, I like to say Milwaukee. Suburban Milwaukee. Yeah, we got close enough. We got up to Milwaukee and um It was cold. It was kind of cold that day.
SPEAKER_05Freezing to me because I'm from Oklahoma. And you guys don't realize how much colder it was to me. So I was kind of a little baby about it, but we kept on. We worked hard. Yeah, we get we had to get used to it.
Three Shows In Three Days
SPEAKER_03So this was our first time as a podcast host to go out on the road and do what I call a personal appearance. What we did was we had a personal appearance party for the people attending the concert that I said we had a Sean Tailgate.
SPEAKER_04It's like Cindy opened up the back of her van. Yeah, we opened the back of the van. Yes, and you had music playing. Sean Cassidy music. Music playing, we had a life-size poster of Sean, a photo app.
SPEAKER_03Yes, it was funny because we we hoped to get in the lobby of the theater. Yeah. But because we're not in any way associated with the road to us tour, right? The theater said you cannot uh set up inside the theater. You can over there in the parking lot. You can't go on the sidewalk, you gotta get all the way to the parking lot. As time went on, that changed, but we'll talk about that later. So, yeah, so there we were doing our tailgating in the in the cold. And it was, well, you know, it was a little November.
SPEAKER_05And then it got dark, and then fortunately, Cindy had that little light that she put over the poster, you know, that life size poster. Oh, yeah, it lit it up, right? Yeah, and that helped. But then when Dorise was working extra hard, she was chasing people down to make sure they got their little goodie bag filled with candy, filled with candy and cards. But they thought it was some other kind of candy.
SPEAKER_03Here's the thing. So we had it all set up by the car. There was um a life-size poster to get your photo walk with Sean, and we made little treat bags and we had a special swag bag, and so I was out while you and Dane Cindy were taking the photo op by the car and talking to the people. I was out to make sure they came to the car and got their bag. I was literally chasing them in the dark. Oh boy. I was trying to hand them a bag of cash. And they're like, there's a crazy woman running after us in the parking lot like I was selling them crack cocaine. They were literally running away.
SPEAKER_05And then Dame shouldn't have been laughing, but she started cracking up and saying, Okay, Doris, we better stay over here. But it was funny at first because we didn't want people to miss out on their goodie bags.
SPEAKER_04Well, because I think in the beginning it was a slow trickle, right? And then all of a sudden, a bunch of people came at the same time and we couldn't do what we were missing. So Doris went one way and we stayed the other way, trying to get everybody a goodie bag. Don't you think things changed once we did that live? Yeah, we did a live at the venue before, like early in the day, we did a live to say we were there. We did a Facebook live, and that changed.
SPEAKER_05I think that changed everything. Because then people knew. Then people knew who we were. Right.
SPEAKER_04They're like, oh, we saw you on Facebook. You're like, yeah, we told you we were gonna do it.
SPEAKER_05And they said they were trying to get there early just so they could get their little goodie bag from us.
SPEAKER_03And that made it a lot better. And it made the experience of doing a personal appearance. Now I felt like they know us. They they really know us.
SPEAKER_04And they told us that we brought back the nostalgia. Yes. The excitement of going to Sean's concert. Here's a poster of them. Everybody had the posters. Yes, it made they loved it.
SPEAKER_03And then we we finally got the winner of the swag bag. So each concert, we were gonna give away a special bag, right? What was in the bag, Cindy?
SPEAKER_04Well, we had a Sean swag bag and it was a Sean album. It was a Tiger Bee magazine. There was a Sean necklace in there and a few items for our podcast logo.
SPEAKER_03And the necklace was like the one from the 70s. The 1970s. What a neat gift.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and then we put in like a little coin purse in there with our logo on it.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_04It was a cute bag. It was. So the first lady, it was her birthday.
SPEAKER_05Yes, it was her birthday, and she was so happy. We took a video of her and she couldn't have been happier.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, she went there by herself. I'm so glad to see people go by themselves because they're afraid to do that sometimes.
SPEAKER_03Yes. And I told her, I said, you're never alone at a university concept.
SPEAKER_04You did say that, Doris. We're all one big happy community, like Sean says.
First Stop: Brookfield Setup
SPEAKER_03So she was she got her bag. She was so excited. Yeah. And it made the rest of the experience of us being there a lot easier. Then people were literally coming to us for their bag. Chasing us. They wanted the Sean Swag bag. Right. But they wanted the little bags too. They wanted, and the goodie bags we made were cute. They were like little cellophane bags with the candy and candy, our car, sticker.
SPEAKER_05Yes, and that was so neat. And we enjoyed it, but I think we started getting tired. But it was fun when we could finally go inside. Yes. It was hard to go inside because we were being followed. So we understood how Sean felt.
SPEAKER_03Like you were saying, Dane, we were so exhausted, but it was time to go in. Yeah, we had to go to the QA. So we we saw Sean in the back of the car. Sorry. And then we we went in for the QA.
SPEAKER_04And that was an experience, too. We had our questions answered. So the first one, I asked the first question, and I had brought up the fact that Doris and I had gone to Shirley's Gala last year when Sean was celebrating his mother's birthday and career and things like that. Right. And there were Broadway stars there and everything. So it was a big deal. So Dorisa and I were honored to be able to go to that. So my question to Sean was we know it was recorded, but we never saw it come out. So that was my question. You know, are you going to be releasing this show? On PBS, on a public broadcasting station or whatever uh type of movie. Wherever they wanted to release it. And he said that he was the one that has to edit it. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Which I didn't know. So I'm like, oh I know you girls are excited about that. He basically said, Yeah, they're kind of waiting on me.
SPEAKER_04Come on, Sean. Well, as if you don't have more to do. Yeah, so they're waiting on him. So maybe because we asked the question, maybe that will light a fire under him to get the editing done.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, what else is he gonna do over Christmas break? Because I would love to watch it.
SPEAKER_05Well, you girls were talking about that, and I stood up because Cindy had a stand up because she said all three of us are here together for the show.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05Shows. I think you said plural. And at that time I didn't have much to say. I didn't go to the Shirley one. So I said one comment and I said that I liked his hair because I've always liked, you know, the longer feathered hair. And I think he even knows that. But he actually sounded surprised. And then Cindy, you know, she said it looked longer. He so she made the comment and he said, Well, to be honest, I I just need a haircut. But then I told him to keep it that way. And he answered by saying, Well, he'd see what would happen about that.
SPEAKER_04We like this. Yeah, we did like the Sean 70s hairstyle, yeah, for sure. So he's given that to us just a little bit, so that was cool. I think he was surprised by that question, Dame. I think he was I think so too.
SPEAKER_05He acted very surprised. No, but but I always say the odd stuff, so you know. But anyway, something else I really liked at the QA. I have a couple things, but this is the the question I liked. And a lady asked him what was on his bucket list, and he said, Well, he doesn't really like the term bucket list, which on my bucket list it used to be to see Sean. Well, of course I've met Sean, so so I uh that's not my bucket list anymore because I I had that. But what everyone was wondering, what's his bucket list? Well, he said he plans to live to 10,000 years, so he really doesn't have a bucket list, but he said that if he could do something that he really, really wanted to do, it would be to spend time just with all of his kids together. And Cindy, didn't you say he said like with camping or something? Or was it to go on a trip?
SPEAKER_04I think I think he said he doesn't like camping, but it would be a road trip. Oh, okay. I think I remember him saying he did not like camping.
Handing Out Goodie Bags In The Cold
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so I thought that was really sweet that he said just to get all of his kids together and to be with them. He said he he wants to be with them. That is his favorite. And then I started thinking about that, and that's the way my husband is about the kids, you know, it's to be with their children. So I thought that was pretty cool. And I think part of this trip he's making is to see his children too on the way, right? Yeah, he's a family man, so he was this is important to him. Well, speaking of being a family man, I thought it was also neat that someone asked him what his favorite skill was. And of course, as we know, he likes to be a writer. But they asked him when he got into doing music and singing and stuff. And he said, well, when it when he was a kid, he'd write the words first before he would go to the piano to play. And then he had grown around up around his parents, you know, of course, being singers, so it was pretty special to him. And I can only imagine how much fun it would be to sit in a corner and to watch the family singing Christmas songs. But to be honest, we finally got that chance, uh, Cindy. Dreese and I went to a Christmas show and we watched him singing and having fun. Yeah. And that was that was so cool to see him just relax and goofing around. But that was so much fun. But he said that playing the piano was one of his favorite things to do, and he really taught himself so much. And as a younger adult, he was around so many rock bands. So he said that helped, that helped him with his lessons and stuff, and just enjoying others that love to use their music ability. He had forgotten to even play some of his songs before he started doing all these shows. And you girls know this too, that he's been playing the bass guitar, and we all love that that red bass guitar. We love that. It's gorgeous. But he said he couldn't find somebody to play it, so he had to learn it.
SPEAKER_04He said I couldn't find a bass player, so I became the bass player. I wonder if he likes it so far. I don't know if he's mentioned if he likes it or not yet, but he learned it. He's doing a good job with it, I think.
SPEAKER_03It's so cool to watch. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04We know somebody else did.
SPEAKER_03A la, a la Danny Partridge. So he did do very well, I think, with the bass, and he's definitely grown. I think this tour. Yes, I think he's grown vocally. Of course, he knows how to play piano, but it seemed like in in the magic of the midnight sky tour, he was a little rusty or maybe just nervous, but yeah.
SPEAKER_04Well, he had to do the whole show on his own. Yeah, I was gonna say he's got a band this tour. Right. There's four of them. He was jumping here and there before. There's four of them now, and I think he feels more comfortable with the whole group.
SPEAKER_03Yes, yeah, they all play together well, they play very well together. He's not the only one playing the songs all the way through the whole show. Right, when he did the one man show in Chicago before, yes. So I I really, really, well, what did they say? Surprisingly good. But I'm moving uh along too fast because we were talking about the QA.
SPEAKER_04Right, but I wanted to talk about that surprisingly good because he does mention that, and I didn't know where it came from, but then he explained to us some critics said that about him back when they said he's surprisingly good. He didn't forget that.
SPEAKER_03He would read, you know, reviews. And they said, This Cassidy, you go there, because I guess they expected to go there and see a bunch of silly crap. Yeah, yeah. They said this Cassidy guy is surprisingly good. And he said it followed him through life. Yes, this guy, I take out garbage surprisingly well.
SPEAKER_05I know, and many husbands are like, I don't want to take you to that, but if I have to, and then they leave it saying, Hey, he was good.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, he does mention he likes the audience of the husbands because he mainly does it for them, maybe just to prove a point that he's surprisingly good. I don't know. He's surprisingly good, and he is.
SPEAKER_03And the thing is, when you walk out of that show, you go, Wow, that was surprisingly good. Why are we so surprised? Yeah, that's the question. Why are we so surprised that it was that good?
SPEAKER_05Well, girls, it's because so often we're always like, Oh, Sean, you know, Sean from the 70s, the feathered hair, the cute face, pretty eyes. And then you get there, and he's also so talented, not just as an actor, not just as a writer, but as a performer.
SPEAKER_04And he enjoys it this time because he said last time it was a scream fest. Yeah. And people weren't really listening to him.
Facebook Live Sparks Fan Turnout
SPEAKER_03Last time meaning 45 years. Yeah, in the 70s. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04They were screaming, and he really couldn't get through to them because there was too much noise. Right. So now he enjoys intimacy. Yes, he enjoys it. We're watching him, we're listening. Some people do take pictures, but he's trying to discourage that.
SPEAKER_03Well, no, what I really think is he's trying to discourage a sea of cameras pointing at him, uh phones pointing at him. Right. He he real he realizes there's gonna be that person who waited their old their entire life to see Sean Cassidy. Right. And they're not walking out of that venue without a picture. They're just not gonna do it. And he knows that's gonna happen. But he doesn't want it to be, don't sit here the whole show, point right phone next.
SPEAKER_04So that brings up the point where he created this, he created this Q ⁇ A, and you get to talk to him for about a half hour, 40 minutes, something like that. And um, you take a group picture at the very end. So they the tour manager takes the picture and you go up there by groups and you get your picture with him, which probably makes it easier with Sean because he doesn't have to individually take pictures with everybody. It's just easier on him. So take a group photo, you get a VIP bag which had what in it, Doris?
SPEAKER_03Oh, wow. A poster, a map, uh autograph picture, uh uh Sean Cassidy wine bottle, coozi, uh what else? Oh, a tattoo?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, the temporary tattoo. And I think the bag said surprisingly good. Did it say that on there? It might have. I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. You know, uh, we really should have one down here in the studio. I think it's gonna happen soon. Yes, but all very cute items. They were awesome. Back to the questions. So we're still in Brookfield and we're still asking questions. It's my turn to ask a question, and I stand up, and you guys, I really I'm very humbled by this because he knows who we are by name. Yeah, I stood up and he said, Hi, Doris. I said, I guess I don't have to introduce myself. I said, I'm Doris, and I'm with the Sean Spot Society podcast. And I said, Sean, you're a writer. And there are so many movies with so many good lines. I recently watched the movie Casablanca, and it's filled with great lines. I said, What's your favorite line from a movie or TV TV show? And he said, I almost lost it. Well, maybe I did lose it. He said Yeah, you're excited.
SPEAKER_04He loves a lot of movies, a lot of lines, but his But you said either your show or somebody else's show.
SPEAKER_03Yes, I did.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
VIP Q&A Highlights
SPEAKER_03And he said the favorite line that I ever wrote was someone's at the door. Ooh. Well, we were all like, What? Everybody knows I love American Gothic. Yeah. So I screamed, I went, oh my God, American Gothic. And you think that, you know, Sean came off the stage and hugged me or something the way I was acting. But I was very excited that his favorite line that he ever wrote is someone's at the door. But Sheriff Buck.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's Buck with a B.
SPEAKER_04Buck with a B. And he also mentioned something else about that show, too. Yeah, the guy who the look that played Caleb. Yes. Yes. Yeah, he did. And then the name and Lucas and all that. Lucas Black.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_04And also, too, but but because of that show, he named his first son Caleb.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Caleb, Lucas, all that. He combined that, and that's why he named him Caleb.
SPEAKER_04And then we got our pictures done, and the show in Brookfield was great. I mean, people were out of their seats most of the time just dancing. The show in Brooklyn. That was a lot of energy with that show.
SPEAKER_03But just happy people. Brookville was great, but St. Charles brought down the house. So the next night, okay, we did enjoy Brookfield, Wisconsin. That was a great show. It was really fun meeting all of the people after they thought I, you know, they got over the fact that I wasn't chasing them down to sell them some crazy.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, this theater was set up differently. It was on the main road. Yes. And we set up our stuff on the sidewalk. Well, I had fun passing out those goodie bags. That was fun. And we were at this, we were at the corner, so when people were uh walk across the street, we're the first people they stopped at.
SPEAKER_03Now, St. Charles is a little bit different because it's in town.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_03The one in Milwaukee was kind of off in a cornfield.
SPEAKER_04In a cornfield, yes. Very remote.
SPEAKER_03Not in the it basically wasn't in any town.
SPEAKER_04That show was originally scheduled for Milwaukee. Right. And I believe the venue told us that there was an issue with something, but they all kind of share venues. Yeah. And that's why he ended up in Brookfield. Because a lot of people saw that he had a show scheduled for Milwaukee.
SPEAKER_03It's a beautiful venue. On the fifth. I gotta admit, it was a very beautiful venue. Very, very nice. It was. And it was secluded off into his own little space, but when you get back to your own church in St. Charles, Illinois, that's in downtown St. Charles.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and he's been in St. Charles or before, a few years ago. Yes. He did the displaying St. Charles route. Yes. Last time he was on tour.
SPEAKER_05I enjoyed, you know, taking the videos of people more though, and taking their pictures. Yeah, that was that one.
SPEAKER_03It was cold again. Here we are in St. Charles, and the theater owner, we asked him. Now we weren't direct enough to ask yet, yet, people, can we go inside? So we asked, can we set up right by your door? And he's like, Yeah, sure, set up. Very easy going guy. Very easy, Ron. On Nestie.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
SPEAKER_03Shout out to Ron. And he's like, just don't get in the way of the people going in and out. Yeah. St. Charles, we were outside. We were outside. And it was so much fun because we were across the street from a bar who was playing Sean Castien music.
SPEAKER_04They were. I was wondering if it was coming from somebody's car, but it was from the bar.
SPEAKER_03And it was a beautiful day, and people were coming in and they couldn't they couldn't get in without passing us. That's right. If they came from that corner, they had a great crowd.
SPEAKER_04More pictures, more treats.
SPEAKER_05They love the photo app with the Sean poster. They love that. And didn't Teresa come by the second night, or was it the last one? No, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Teresa's friends. One of my best friends. We talked about a couple of times here. She came for that show and she really enjoyed it. She loved it. And she loved the QA. Yeah, that was fun. Especially because at that QA, she got to tell Sean about a special letter that I wrote her in 1979. Right. And um, it was a letter to Teresa that I wrote. We were both in high school, and we would write each other letters because we didn't live near each other. And she read the end of it.
SPEAKER_01My name's Teresa.
SPEAKER_03Hi Teresa.
SPEAKER_01Hi. And I'm best friends with Doris since high school. 1976. So recently I came across a letter that she wrote me in high school. Um, because we didn't live close to each other and there wasn't texting back then. There were phones, but it was fun to write letters.
SPEAKER_00So remember there were phones.
Writing, Music, And The Bass Guitar
SPEAKER_01So um she wrote me a letter, and um I just wanted to tell you uh something she wrote as a PS after everything else. So the date was September 27th, 1979. Yes. She said, P.S. Guess whose birthday it is today? Sean's. I wish I was there to share his 21st birthday with him.
SPEAKER_00Here you are.
SPEAKER_01You're welcome.
SPEAKER_03That's what I wrote to Risa, and that's what she read to Sean. And she still has that. And she still has that letter.
SPEAKER_05But something else, Therese, I'm curious, and I don't know the answer to this myself. But there was something that you had to show him on your phone. Don't say it yet, but I wanted to tell you, I thought that was cool because you were holding on to his hand and you were trying to show him on your phone something. So here I am, la-da-da-da, in my own little world holding his other hand for some reason. And I don't know what you were showing him on your phone. And I'm curious, but that was cool because it took a while and he was so interested in it.
SPEAKER_03I wanted to show him that in St. Charles, Illinois, there's a house that Brian Wilson used to own that he recorded his one of his albums in. And that was what was on my my phone. I was gonna show him the house. Oh. Because we were in St. Charles, and he didn't know that in St. Charles, where he was, Brian Wilson had a house. Not far from where we were. Not far at all. Guess what happened after the show in St. Charles? Besides it being a great show, again. Oh, it was phenomenal. We brought down the house. There was I mean, they were literally stomping in the balcony and jumping up and down, and it was so loud. It was so fun. We were just having fun. It was just like a big fun fest. Yeah, it was. And after the show, there was a gathering, and uh like an after-concert gathering, if you will. And uh Ronald Nestle does this after many of his shows, but this one was a great one because they were playing Sean music and had his slides.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and I wanted to hear it. I wanted some of the pizza and the pizza buffet. And I was trying to get Cindy up there, and everybody kept stopping us. They kept stopping us to talk to us about um Sean Squad Society podcast people, and they wanted to take pictures with us, and I I kept pulling Cindy's hand, going, No, Cindy, let's go. I was I'm usually not rude, but I was so excited to get up there and see that slideshow of Sean's older pictures.
SPEAKER_03But wait, to Dame's point, yeah, you Cindy, are always the PR. So if someone's wanting to know about us as a group, as uh the Sean Squad Society podcast, you're not gonna stop talking to them. You're gonna tell them, and it was such an honor that all of the because we did another uh Facebook Live for that show. We did by the marquee, and people just knew our faces and names, and it's almost overwhelming. It was a great connection with the fans because we didn't have that back in the 70s, but it's almost overwhelming because we are by no means the celebrity. We didn't expect it. Almost feel like you're a celebrity.
SPEAKER_05Now we know how Sean feels. Yes. Um, but Cindy is so polite and so sweet and so kind to everyone that she didn't want to say, Oh, I have to go. And so I was like telling her, You have to go, Cindy, you have to come with me. We should tell them to come with us. Yeah, yeah, that's true. And I think some of them did. We ended up having people around us upstairs. Yeah, the room was full. Yes, yeah, and Doris had a table full of people too, separate from us.
SPEAKER_03My I have friends who I know from another just from life, and they opened they came to the show, and I didn't know they were planning to be there, so they had their table, and yeah.
SPEAKER_05So somehow just the three of us girls were able to stand in front of that slideshow and get a picture with just the three of us, and that was a miracle because we were pulled so many different directions.
SPEAKER_03Honestly, Dame, that humbles me in such a way that I can't even vocalize it to know that here we are doing this podcast two years later, and people realize who we are, and they want to talk to us.
SPEAKER_04I think they want that connection. You know, we do these podcasts about Sean and all his all his things he does and his family, and I think people really appreciate listening to it. It's a really nice retro back in time. We were there for them. Right. We gave our our candy, we gave our goodies, the nostalgia. They just loved it.
SPEAKER_03So who got goodie back? Who got swag back number two?
“Surprisingly Good” And Intimate Shows
SPEAKER_04Okay, swag back number two at St. Charles. We gave to a lovely lady named Betina, and she is currently undergoing cancer treatments. Yes, and she was so moved by the bag that she had tears in her eyes.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_04She said, I appreciate the bag, but I was I was so excited just to even see you guys here.
SPEAKER_03Yes. That was before the bag was given to her. I was excited to see us. I can't tell you how that makes me.
SPEAKER_04Just showing up, she was excited about it, and we gave her this special swag bag, and we pulled everything out, and she was just like laughing and loving all of it. But you moments like this make that cold worth it.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Yes. So here we are. Now we're wrapping up day two, and I'm exhausted. I'm like, yes, how do these people do this every night of the week? They go from city to city.
SPEAKER_04I don't know how they do it. Right. And then when we go to the next show, we're anticipating some bad weather coming up.
SPEAKER_03Now it's gonna snow and rain and everything else. So now we're going to day three. It's Displains, Illinois, and they're predicting snow and rain. And I thought, you know, I am not standing outside. Yeah, we were worried. I'm not doing it. I said, but we have all these bags. We have to give them away. We've got 200 bags. And I saw Ron O'Nesty, and I said, hey, Ron, tomorrow night we're gonna be at the Displains Theater. Which he also owns. Which he is also the owner of. I said, would it be okay if we gave away our little gifts inside? He said, sure, why not? Get there early and I'll set you up.
SPEAKER_05Cindy pulled up right in front of the venue. And I went went in, and the first person that came to me was Ron, the owner of the venue. And I said, Can we just park right there? He said, Hey, for you girls, you can park there. And then he said, Not only that, it's cold out there, it's going to be raining. Bring everything inside. So we go inside with all of our stuff, and what happens, girls? He's out there in.
SPEAKER_03And we had our own little spot by a um pinball machine in his little, he has a little restaurant, diner, if you will. Right, and he assigned us a security guard. And he assigned us our own security guard to set up somewhere. Yeah, he gave us people to help us. We were right by the entrance. So when people came in, we were able to greet them and say, Hey, come in.
SPEAKER_04Well, we couldn't be in the main lobby though, because that's where the merch tables were gonna be. So we went over to the side in that pizza restaurant area, which was a great setup.
SPEAKER_05And it was so close. I mean, it was close to the merch in a way. You could see the merch from right there, so we could see each other back and forth. So I think many people thought we were part of that whole group.
SPEAKER_03Right. But I made sure because it's very important to make sure people know that we're not uh the Sean's Cash Lady Road Trust tour. Right.
SPEAKER_05But they still thought we were working for somebody that was important there because they would ask us where the restroom was constantly.
SPEAKER_03Well, yeah, the minute you get set up and you're inside, they they believe you're part of the change. Yeah, someone asked me how to get to his seat. Yes. So there we were. We were the ushers, and it was so cute because we would say, we would go to the door, greet people, say, come around the corner and get your picture taken. Yes.
SPEAKER_04Sean. Yes, there's a photo app. And they loved it. They were in line for this photo op, which we have many pictures of. It was a great thing. They loved it. They got their goodie bag.
SPEAKER_03This is the day that we had our winner, Deborah. So we gave away a concert ticket for that show. Yes.
SPEAKER_04We ran a contest to get a free front row seat with us at the show. And Deborah Eskew, I believe is her last name, she was our winner. From St. Louis, Missouri. She had to drive up to Displains. Yes, she did the drive. There were a handful of people that entered, and we pulled her name out, and that's who won.
SPEAKER_03And she came and she got to hang out with us before the show and during the show. We all sat next to each other. Yep. And she got a goodie bag, and I think a swag bag. We made her her own special swag bag. Right.
SPEAKER_05And while she's sitting there next to us, we look over to our left, and the lady that was very close to us on the right in the front was a lady that works for one of the news shows.
SPEAKER_04Well, it's a famous WLS radio station. Right.
St. Charles Street Energy
SPEAKER_03WLS is our local, one of our local top 40 Odies. It's not new shows, new music, it's oldies top 40.
SPEAKER_0480s, yeah. She came over and took a picture with us. And she hung out with us, yes. She really did. She did. Well that was cool. I saw her in the photo op line, and I recognized her, and she said, Yes, I am. Uh Kara is her name, and I recognize her, and she wanted a picture with the Sean poster. And then we just happened to be sitting by her. So we kind of hung out with her there in the front row.
SPEAKER_03So there we were in the front row, and we had such a great time. We went to the QA, and this is what I was gonna say. When we came out of that QA, the overwhelming crowd of people who were already in the show. Yes. Already in line, but we had swag bags and goodie bags to give out. We were handing out bags before.
SPEAKER_04Right. So we were handing out bags before with the QA people that were showing up. So we go into the QA, we pack up our stuff, we go in the QA, we come back out to hand out goodie bags again, and there is a full crowd. A full crowd out there. We couldn't even walk in the lobby.
SPEAKER_03They were waiting. I went on, I said, Cindy, you go on one side, we go on one side. Dang, yeah, we split up. I stayed there and took the pictures. I took the pictures too for them and videos pandemonium. And I went, I remember going on one side of the room, right? And this lady had our card inside of a little statue that was on her table. She said, I've been waiting for you. I put this card here so you can see this is how it's holding this table. How nice! And I'm like, oh my goodness, how sweet. Here's the bag. And and you can't stand there and talk. I'm like, here's the bag, here's the bag.
SPEAKER_04I'm running around like a lunatic. Because we had to get these bags passed out before the show started. Because if you have people in the theater, then we don't get a hold of them.
SPEAKER_02We weren't a bag.
SPEAKER_05You know what's funny is here we were in our jeans and our squad shirt. And we thought, okay, we we were just really working. We didn't care how our hair looked, whatever. I think we were sweaty. We were sweaty, our hair was stringy, whatever. We didn't care.
SPEAKER_04Oh, in the QA, we didn't really ask a question this time, so we were more observing everything. Yes. But we did get another photo op with him, and it was kind of funny that uh uh Sean was like, Hey, are you having fun? I'm like, Oh yeah, we're out in the lobby, like keeping these friends busy.
SPEAKER_03It was so funny because Sean asked Cindy, Are you are you guys having fun? She's like, Yeah, we're passing out our backs. We're getting working. He said, Well, I was kind of talking about my show. I like Oh no. I like Cindy. You like making Sean be afterthought.
SPEAKER_04Hey, we're busy. Yeah, we're passing our stuff to the fans. We're here for the fans.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Well, that was kind of funny. You know what would be funny, girls, if that was in fast motion and we were able to show Sean how fast we worked and how hard we worked.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you know, we should have done a time-lapse video. We can show back at it, but nobody thought of it. Yes. But we do have pictures, we'll put up. We do have some pictures. Okay, the third show, the lady, who was the one that got the swag bag?
SPEAKER_03Okay, so I was at the front door now. People are coming in, and I just looked right at this lady and I said, You need a bag. And you know, we had tied red ribbons around the bags, and I said, You get the special red ribbon bag, so you have to come with me. And she came with me, and she it was just a random lady I picked. But it turned out that she said she had seen us already on Facebook and everything. I think she was at another show too with us. Yes. So I had her walk over and we gave her her swag bag. Yes.
SPEAKER_04That was neat that her daughter was.
SPEAKER_03She was with her daughter.
SPEAKER_04And we also interviewed a few people. We did interview somebody in Brookfield. I don't know if she went to a show before. But that was a big deal.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, some of those interviews you guys put on our um page, and everyone loved watching those.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so we did interview her, and then we did interview those the group of three sisters where it was uh her birthday. Yes. And they were by the poster, and her her sister would try to save up for a concert, but I think she never got to go, so this was special night.
SPEAKER_03She shoveled snow and everything. Couldn't get to that conversation.
SPEAKER_04And this was the show she was gonna see in wet dis displaying.
SPEAKER_03And she got to go for her birthday. It was so nice.
SPEAKER_05But see, these are so many special stories that we hear, and we would like to get everyone's stories, you know, that would be willing to share stories like that with us.
SPEAKER_03Yes, we are starting to put up uh fan stories. Yes, we are. We started and the concerts, the concerts took off, so we really haven't gone back, but that is definitely gonna be uh uh continuing.
Wrap Up
SPEAKER_04Yes. So if anybody has a Sean story, uh there's an email address on our Facebook page. Yes and I believe Instagram too.
SPEAKER_03Yes, but you can send it to Sean Squad Society at gmail.com and we would love to hear your story.
SPEAKER_05We love your stories.
SPEAKER_03I thought it was just very nice that the three of us were together and we didn't um we don't always have that opportunity. And just to be a part of this big the road to us tour and make ourselves um, you know, a part of it like we have, that is so special.
SPEAKER_04And Sean does make you feel like you're part of the community. You know, when you go to these shows, you feel like you belong to everybody, like everybody's there for that mutual purpose.
SPEAKER_03But I don't know how they how performers do it because by the end of day three, I remember driving home after that concert saying, I don't know if I'm gonna make it home. I'm exhausted.
SPEAKER_04I could barely walk. And we haven't eaten all day, so we're trying to find some places to start to eat and some place to go. Oh, that's true.
SPEAKER_05I forgot about that part.
SPEAKER_04We were so busy we just didn't even eat. And three days straight, I don't think we were good.
SPEAKER_03We did it. We would get up in the morning, go to the venue, do our home meet and greet, our meet and greet with our followers and anybody else who wanted to stop and then go to the show and then go home and get up and do it again.
SPEAKER_04And that's three days in a row is a lot. Three days in a row is a lot. We it would have been nice to have a break. But if Sean was going, we were going, so we kept going.
SPEAKER_05But that's what's neat about Sean's shows. Each one is so different. I mean, different songs, different backgrounds, he even does different things to surprise people. I mean, I have a couple more shows to go to, and right now in his shows, he's doing you know, different songs for the season.
SPEAKER_03And it was so much fun. I couldn't be happier that we got a chance to do it.
SPEAKER_04It was very fulfilling, and I did love the band part because we didn't get to see that before. Yes. And he arranged it very well with the different songs he put in from his other albums. Yes. Like Break for the Street, Break for the Street. I like. I'm glad he put that in there.
SPEAKER_03That's such a uh fun upbeat song, and I'm glad he put it in. Yeah, and then he sings one of his mom's songs too. At the end, and I was very happy that he sang Walk Away and told the story behind Walkaway. Yeah, because a lot of people don't have it. He's a storyteller, right? So it's uh it was very fun. We all made it through. I don't know how, but we did. And the fact that our our little humble podcast is growing because of all of you out there who followed us, who came out to see us, who stopped by to get your photo op, we couldn't be more thankful.
SPEAKER_04I wish we could go to every show, but it's just not possible because we have jobs. But yeah, it is just amazing to be with those fans and experience all that with them.
SPEAKER_03And we hope to see you guys again really, really soon at some event.
SPEAKER_04Yes, and uh now with Sean's next leg of the tour, um, he's putting in a little bit of a holiday cheer. So we'll leave in the he's jingle bells. Well, yeah, we'll leave you with a Christmas song.
SPEAKER_00But it's not like Christmas at all.
SPEAKER_04Thank you from the bottom of our teen dream hearts. Keep on crushing, always believe in magic, and have a peaceful, fantastic week.
