Pelvic Floor Dysfunction & The Road to Recovery: A Male Perspective
While this season is about studying the female body, we would be remiss not to include the health journeys and challenges that face men, including such issues as pelvic floor dysfunction. Today, Ben, who has a degree and background in Kinesiology, takes us through what has been an epic four year battle of pain and misdiagnoses. When medical health professionals discounted what Ben was trying to tell them, he ultimately discovered for himself the condition that had been plaguing him for years.
Diagnosed with pelvic floor dysfunction about a year and half ago, Ben now lives a very different life, accommodating for this diagnosis, but not letting it slow him down. This is a fantastic episode for men and women alike, as Ben discusses the importance of listening to your gut, questioning your doctors, and being your own advocate. Frequently, those in the medical field are quick to look at the symptoms, but not the root cause, simply offering bandaid suggestions with no long term solutions. With stretching, breath work, nerve flossing, visualization, and more, Ben is now championing for others to take control of their health, especially when faced with something as painful and debilitating as pelvic floor dysfunction.
