I specialise in tools, systems, techniques, inspiration and help specifically designed for YOU, the person who has to do it all, who doesn't have a team of people, unlimited resources or the time to spend months learning complicated techniques.
Hey there, listeners, it's your annoyingly optimistic host here bringing you another season of the Annoyingly Optimistic Show. Welcome to Season 2, voicemails to Tim. Now let's meet Tim. He's been running his own small business for almost three years now and let's just say he's hit a bit of a rough patch. You know how it is Sometimes you get so stuck, you make yourself busy and just avoid finding the real problems. Well, that's Tim. So, as a good friend, I decide to leave him a daily voicemail, if I can't get hold of him, filled with nuggets of inspiration, insight and wisdom and downright brilliant ideas to help get him unstuck Every day. In just under 10 minutes, I'll share some tips, tricks and a healthy dose of optimism to get Tim, and maybe even you, back on track, because, let's face it, we're all a little tired, in need of help and muddling through. So here we go. Re, oh wait, never mind Tim's being busy. Here's the voicemail I left him today hi, tim, uh, good to catch up with you.
Speaker 1And so social media. You were worried about that and I mentioned a service called Metrical for posting and being able to post across all your social media and, things like that, various other services. That's one that I was recommended a little while back and have used and set up for many people and it's great for pushing similar content out across all your social media. Now, one of the things that I then threw in there which I think was a bit of a curveball and you're like what, um? Was this idea of you can set up lists whereby you might create a series of 10 posts 12 posts, whatever and you put those on a list and basically it will run through those 12 posts and then at the end of that, whatever frequency you set so they might do one a day, one a week, whatever and when it gets the end of that 12, it posts number one again, and that kind of threw you a little bit. It's kind of like, well, well, so I'm just posting the same stuff over and over again.
Speaker 1Now there's a couple of fundamental things that that sit beyond. This is that one of the key things with social media is we have to turn up, and we have to turn up consistently and put a consistent message out. Now, not every single person that we want to reach follows us all the time, sees us all the time sees everything we post. In fact, there are only two people that that see everything you post. You and your mum, typically, you know, or some kind of super fan no one's going through and going through everything and certainly no one's cataloging and kind of going. I, no one's going through and going through everything and certainly no one's cataloging it and kind of going. I think I've seen that before.
Speaker 1So there's some core messages that you can do and that builds up a like a what I call a foundational level of social media. You're showing up with a message that's consistent and again, if you do that and 12 is a great number If you do that over a 12 week period, there are very, very, very, very, very few, including yourself, people who will remember that you posted that exact same thing um, 13 weeks ago. If they do, they're a super fan, they're following everything you're doing and they're not going to be put off because they're a super fan and they might just kind of recognize it. So it's about building up that base level of content, because then what you're adding on top of that is the very you know, weekday, job, specific things that's going out there, whether it be on, you know, on Facebook, on Instagram, on Twitter, whatever is the things that have happened in the moment, the things that you can't plan 12 weeks ahead, the things that you want to say a particular message because of something that's come up, and they then add on to that foundation. So you're not kind of sitting there each day a week, oh what am I going to talk about next week? You've got some core stuff going out there. So if you have a busy week, your foundation level lists will take care of your social media. Yeah, it won't be the best social media week because you haven't added anything on top of that. Be the best social media week because you haven't added anything on top of that, anything that's driving that kind of interest, but it's. It gives you a level of kind of fallback. So it's something to kind of consider as to put and, again, you can theme those messages. You know each list can be on a particular service, a particular aspect.
Speaker 1It could be you get 12, you know, touching on a conversation the other week you get 12 of your recent reviews. You know fantastic, amazing, glowing reviews put together, and you could do it two different ways. You could, you know, cut those reviews down if they're particularly long reviews. So you split them into two halves. So 12 reviews becomes you becomes. You know, 24 half reviews come up with a template canva is good for something like this with a you know the name, the review logo, particular color or whatever. Um, so all of a sudden you've got 24 images. So if you were to do those one a week and then repeat it after 24, well, that's basically going to fill up your year. Okay, 48 weeks rather than 52. But you've been.
Speaker 1You're talking about every week. You're mentioning about reviews and reminding people. So when people look at your profile or they happen to see something come up on that particular day, you're always, you know, talking about the achievements and how happy customers are and getting engagement from that level. Put on top of that, you always got a particular offer on, or something always happens at the end of the month or whatever. So you have those going out there. So all of a sudden, you are producing two, three, four, five, seven pieces of social media content every single week that you've sat there and spent a few hours putting together.
Speaker 1But that then gives you this foundational level so that you are always present on those networks. You're always present in people's minds and are posting regularly so that they're hearing from you, because that's what it's about. It's about reminding them Remember me. So it's not that that one review that happens to have popped up is going to do it, but the fact that they're seeing you regularly. Then they go oh god, I really need to do that. And you're there, tip of their tip of their tongue, as it were, and they can get in contact with and become a customer and grow from there. It also just shows you're active and you know, and things like Metricle makes it easy to post it out to Google, my Business, to post it out to all the networks at the same time. So I know it threw you a little bit, this idea of kind of creating content and it repeating, repeating, repeating. But if you put the effort and you create great content in the beginning, it's something that they just kind of take care of, um, going forward, and it gives you a base level, which is what it's about. So hopefully that makes a little bit more sense. If you want to talk a bit more about metrical, then let me know and we can catch up on that one. So so, yeah, I'll catch up with you soon. Cheers, tim.
Speaker 1And that's it for today's episode of Voicemails to Tim on the Annoyingly Optimistic Show. Now remember, tim might be busy, but we're all in this together. Whether you're tired, in need of help or just muddling through, tim is here for you because, well, tim is you. Yes, you heard that right. Tim isn't just my friend, he's a reflection of all of us who are struggling to make it work. Tim stands for tired, in need of help and muddling through. So if you're feeling like a Tim, you're not alone. For all those ambitious listeners, if you've got a burning business question, a quirky thought or just want to see if you can leave an even weirder voicemail, head over to the website voicemailstotimcom, submit your question and maybe, just maybe, you'll hear your idea in a future voicemail to Tim. So until then, stay annoyingly optimistic, keep pushing forward and remember if life gives you lemons, leave a voicemail about it.
