22: From Physician to Patient to a Whole New Outlook on Breast Cancer with Dr. Liz Boham

Dr. Jenn Simmons

Most people experience breast cancer from the patient side. But my guest today, Dr. Liz Boham, has experienced breast cancer being a patient and a physician. In the episode, Dr. Boham shares her story of how practicing breast self exams actually led to her own diagnosis with triple negative breast cancer at the age of 30 with no family history and how that experience led her to a whole new outlook on breast cancer and health!

You will hear:

  • The struggles Liz experienced in light of her own diagnosis (and how she could make changes)
  • What led her to functional medicine and the importance of personalizing the treatment for each patient
  • Shifting to an attitude of gratitude
  • Why more young women are being diagnosed with breast cancer
  • How toxins are affecting your life (even the ones you don’t know are toxic!)
  • The connection between inflammation and breast cancer
  • And more!
