Eavesdrop on The Disruption Sisters as they prepare for a vampire masquerade, wrestle with old family baggage, and laugh about ordering fairy-tale gowns with two-day shipping. There are curses, kittens, and even a bit of astrology for The Orange Stain tossed into the mix. In the end, it’s two crones, one podcast, and way too many TikTok-inspired decisions.

Welcome to Feral Crone

Speaker 1

Welcome to the Feral Crone podcast . I'm Karen and I'm Debra and we're inviting you to eat strop while we shoot the shit now , with 100% less homework .

Speaker 2

Welcome , bienvenue , welcome , come on in .

Speaker 1

That particular quote always blends with .

Speaker 2

I really prefer the Madeline Kahn .

Speaker 1

Come on in . Come on in . I probably quote something she said in one of her movies at least gosh . If not once a day , at least five times a week I've been often using flames on the side of my face . We live in that kind of time , I think , yeah , I hated him so much . Yes , exactly , always relevant , always relevant .

Speaker 2

I don't know what that's from . It's from Clue , and if you don't know who Madeline Kahn is , then Google . I'm deeply sorry .

Speaker 1

Yeah , watch every movie she's ever made . Get me to a way to see Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles and Clue as soon as possible , absolutely . And there are more beyond that .

Speaker 2

So how you doing , sis ?

Speaker 1

but so how you doing , sis , I am . I've been been thinking about answering this question for a couple of days , knowing that we were going to record and I just don't know .

Speaker 2

Well , I'm , you do have a really new big or two really new big things in your life .

Speaker 1

That I do , I and they're on my list , but it's like a how are you doing ? Like there are things happening , but I feel it's hard to put my finger on it . I'm getting stuff done , I'm , but I'm I don't know . I probably just need a bigger dose of whimsy or some sort of big win or something like that , because I think I'm in that like , like you know , it's late August , it's almost September and we've had a couple of weeks of temperatures that go above 90 and whatever , and so , no matter what I'm accomplishing or what I feel good about , there's still a certain like undertone of meh that I can't quite shake . So that's how I'm doing . How are you uh ?

Speaker 2

similar . Um , I'm just so up to my neck in um news and I'm I'm doing obsessive tiktoking again , like for hours and hours and hours a night and I am seeing so many upsetting things about our country and it's like to live with one foot in that world and then trying with the other foot to thrive and be happy , and you know it's very confusing . We hated him so much . It's very confusing . We hated him so much Now . This kind of segues into my very first or into an item on my list .

Speaker 1

Well , shall we share

Sharing Lists and Life Updates

Speaker 1

each other's lists and do a little list roulette .

Speaker 2

Yes , let's do list roulette . Okay , read yours . So Apocalypse Orange .

Speaker 1

Okay .

Speaker 2

The Dobson drop engaged . Taylor's version . Oh my , and the fang fling .

Speaker 1

Yes , I think . I think I actually mostly know what all of those are about . Okay , what's on your list ? Oh , I have low self-esteem , high suggestibility . Higgification what was that higgification ? Higgification okay , preoccupied . Okay , artistic ennui and fantasy meets two-day delivery all right , let's do the what ?

Speaker 1

two-day delivery ? Oh , fantasy meets two-day delivery . This is something I've been thinking about lately because , um and this probably ties into one of the items on your list if you want to blend them all , fling fang , fling I , I well , actually this ties into one of my other topics , to my artistic on we .

Speaker 2

Right . So nobody knows , because you probably wouldn't we're talking about the fact that we are going to the vampire masquerade ball next weekend in Portland , and so we are trying to figure out how to look amazing and stunning and seductive and vampire-esque while we have In our mid-50s .

Speaker 1

Yeah , exactly In our mid-50s . No wait , yeah , this is such a complex topic to me . So I'm going to start off with the item that you actually , you know , mentioned , like the item you picked off of my list , which is fantasy

Fantasy Meets Two-Day Delivery

Speaker 1

meets two day delivery . Because I've been looking at going to the ball stuff right online and I had this thought that rolled into my head about , like child self reading , you know , romance stories and well , I mean like starting with fairy tales and cinderella , going to the ball and then moving into historical romance fiction where there were constant cotillions and balls and blah , blah , blah , blah , salons and everything else . And , you know , imagining all of that in my mind and having , like this sense of longing , blah , blah , blah , like I .

Speaker 1

But I never in a million years thought that I would go to multiple balls per year when I grew up and was like in my , when I and I was middle-aged , you know , and now you can fucking order a ball gown on Amazon and have it delivered in two days . I mean , like half the book that you would read would be about visiting the um , the seamstress or the right yeah , the , I believe , is in London , downtown London , yes , and having your your dress made and matching police and all of these like things that were . And now it's like I'm going to a ball in a week and , yep , just , I need one , one ball gown for seventy , nine , ninety five . I'm going to buy a ballgat , well , okay . So that's where we get into the artistic ennui portion . But first of all I have to just say , hey , young self , you go to balls like a lot .

Speaker 2

Now I don't go to balls a lot . This is my first ball , it is .

Speaker 1

Yes , you haven't gone to any other masquerades , or not ?

Speaker 2

since back in the day when we were doing our witchy stuff in california , but I don't even know if any of that really counted . That wasn't really a party or something like a dress party , but not a ball . So no , this is my very first ball at the age of 54 .

Speaker 1

It's a good one , though , sis , because there's , you know they do , they waltz at midnight and there's like catered hors d'oeuvres and you know being , and there's other dancing . I mean , you're not , we're not going to be dancing , you know , like they would have 200 years ago or whatever , but there is dancing and there's a waltz , and you know , and there's a show , it's , it's a great , it's .

Speaker 2

I'm excited I finished my dress today that I made .

Speaker 1

I am like so jealous . So you fill your part and then I'll get into my problem , because you asked me if I was ordering a ball gown Right . Well , I'll get mine out of the way quick .

Speaker 2

Yes , do it . I did make my dress yesterday and finished it this morning . It was just a few hours . It's a very simple pattern . It's literally like one , two , like eight seams , and then that's about it , and then it's pretty . But I don't know .

Speaker 1

It's way prettier in my head . I was so excited because I am like the muse has left the building . I have had my my dress form draped in various things for the past week and I'll pin it and I'll practice trying to make a pattern out of like toilet paper to see if it'll work , you know like , and I have just not been able to get there , and so I don't know what I'm gonna do . You bought a dress . I cut it apart , I , I cut it up . I cut it up because I didn't like the lining . And then and I was gonna modify this , modify that , but I just not getting it up because I didn't like the lining . And then I was going to modify this , modify that , but I just not getting it . And then I had another dress that I had bought for something else that I was going to just donate , and I cut it up too .

Speaker 1

So now I have piles of black fabric and like five yards of like iridescent red , black , crinkle tapita strewn everywhere , no dress and everything I've tried to like put together . I just just some reason why I don't like it , and so that's where that's the artistic on . We I'm . I know I am working on making a purse and I'm very excited about the purse . Ooh , I should make a purse , but the , but the dress , I just and that , and part of that is just because I don't feel like anything looks good on me right now , and so I so , even when I start to get a little brainstorm , then I'm like , but you're just going to look , you know , and so yeah , that's where I'm at , I'm good enough with mine . I think I thought it was cute .

Speaker 2

I have

Artistic Ennui and Vampire Ball Prep

Speaker 2

been .

Speaker 1

you didn't even see it ironed , so it's it no , and I I mean , when I saw your pictures , I was , I was like I had envy , because I was like it's cute , it's so pretty . She did it herself and she had the motivation , energy and follow through to actually do it .

Speaker 2

And so I've been over here like whoo , bow down and you're like , oh it's fine , it's fine , I think , I think , once I have like the , the belt and the crown and the necklace and the makeup and the hair thing is always part of it .

Speaker 2

Yeah , I think it will look much . I think it'll work , it'll work , it'll work . But so , but I'm all . I'm all here to help you , you know if you need help . So I appreciate a lot of things , because you've been to many events and I've seen some of the stuff that you've bought in the past . So if you just go look in your closet , you can probably put some stuff together .

Speaker 1

But I also am very aware that I have gained weight , and so there's a little bit of fear . I don't even want to try some of those other dresses on , because I know if I try them on and they don't fit , I'm just going to feel bummed out you know , and it's going to make it . Well . We only have five minutes Less than a week . I know I'm working on it . I we only have five days Less than a week . I know I'm working on it . I've got lots of I don't know needles .

Speaker 2

Speaking of gaining weight , by the way , get this . So I go in my bathroom to try on the dress , so I take off my clothes and I'm like , oh my scale . I didn't eat yet , so I'll go ahead and weigh . This morning I haven't weighed in about I don't know , I guess maybe a week and I had dropped 10 pounds . Wow , like what . And I look in the mirror and I'm trying to see it . I'm like I guess maybe my stomach is a little bit less bulby . And I bought these enzymes this week because some girl on TikTok was crying her eyes out about how , how it helped her lose weight these probiotics and digestive enzymes and she's literally sobbing saying how they saved her body and she feels pretty again . And you ?

Speaker 1

you've like , totally like , just taken low self-esteem , high suggestibility yes .

Speaker 2

So I bought the fucking thing and I've only been taking them for a couple of days , so I was like , wow , 10 pounds , fucking rad . And then I was like hmm , I don't know . So I get back on the scale and no , it was back to where I was , like not even didn't lose any weight . So I'm not sure what happened with my scale , but it blipped out and a 10 pound loss and then it put it right back on me again . So I was just like how fucked up is that ?

Speaker 1

yeah , this that's mean that . No , that is , that's bullying . That's all .

Speaker 2

I didn't even believe it and that's why I got back on it and I was like , fuck life , fuck , that's cruel trying to lose weight . Like I hardly eat at all , I have like a couple protein shakes and a bowl of cereal and I've been dancing every night like yeah but you know what ?

Speaker 1

so I mean not that I want this to be like diet talk or anything like that , I know , but it is what I want .

Speaker 2

To be honest , I really do want to lose weight . I know it's not , like you know , acceptable maybe conversation to talk about losing weight anymore , but I still do .

Speaker 1

No , I do too , and I mean yeah , and I'm shallow and vain enough to acknowledge that some of the reason that I want to is because I , just where I can just become an old , I can start becoming an old , old woman , becoming a crone . And there's a , there's this huge part of me that's like fuck , yeah , you know . And then there's this other part of me that's been wearing mascara for 40 years or longer and I'm that . I feel like I'm being torn apart right there . But I'm right there with you . In fact , part of why I put low self-esteem , high suggestibility on as my on my list is because I have I have received so much eyeliner this week and lip gloss because Wait a minute , you've been buying eyeliner , yeah . So part of the reason why I am so hit and miss with TikTok is because when I'm not feeling super great about myself , I am way too suggestible .

Speaker 1

And so I buy all the bullshit .

Speaker 2

Absolutely Buy it . Cha-ching , cha-ching , cha-ching , exactly .

Speaker 1

Exactly , bullshit , absolutely buy it . Cha-ching , cha-ching , cha-ching , exactly , exactly . And so this morning , as I was just pulling myself together to record , I'm like I'm gonna use one of my new eyeliners and I saw another influencer showing this way of putting on eyeliner where you like , put it .

Speaker 2

You kind of gently close your eyes and put it a coal oneohl one , the one that is like from India , right , and it's like kohl .

Speaker 1

Yeah , but I'm going to try that technique with my new Wonderskin long stay eyeliner in licorice and I'll have to send you the picture . It looks kind of like someone socked me in the eye . It was like I should just send it to you Because I want to see it right now . I was like I'm like so fucking easily influenced . It was like I'm you're pathetic , karen , get a fucking grip . Just do your eyeliner the way you always have , and uh , you can wear eye makeup .

Speaker 2

I can't even wear eye shadow . I can wear eye shadow and that's it . My eyes are water like fucking crazy . I can't wear eyeliner . I can't wear mascara , at least not on the bottom .

Speaker 1

When you look at this picture I've just sent you , keep in mind that it was supposed to be like in the waterline .

Speaker 2

Yeah , I understand , because I've seen that TikTok . Yeah , does it look like that at all ? Where'd ?

Speaker 1

you send it . I texted it to you . It hasn't come yet . Oh , it says delivered . Oh what ?

Speaker 2

happened . Oh Okay , it's definitely not on the water , not in my waterline .

Speaker 1

It doesn't look bad . No , if you can see it better , up on the top , near the inner corner , yeah , it is my eyelashes . It up on the top , near the inner corner , yeah , it is my eyelashes , it's all . It's all smeared up there . It's smeared under my eye . It does sometimes . You just have to practice . Yeah , I guess , but when I did it because I just saw the , the ad and I go in and go rushing into my bathroom I I grabbed that brand new eyeliner that I haven't even used yet and I try it out and I looked at myself and I was like you are a fucking fool . You are a fool , karen . You think you're a 23-year-old doing her eye makeup on ? Fucking TikTok that you are . You know , you're the cool .

Speaker 2

I'll tell you , I've been because I've been talking on my own account , which isn't going terrible , but I'm now you're , once you start putting yourself out there I have like almost 1200 followers . That's terrible , but and I hate that I even care , like it's so pathetic that I even fucking care and that I'm checking'm checking like 50 times a day to see if anybody else . I mean , that's the thing I hate about it . But at the same time , putting myself out there is on my agenda . So it's like I don't want to not do it just because I get obsessive about like who likes it , who doesn't , who's following me , you know , and so it's like you know , and so it's like I don't want to , I don't want to not do it anymore just because of that . So I'm trying to figure out how to like not drive myself insane , but still put no expectation of results .

Speaker 1

You have to , you

The Dobson Drop and Family Healing

Speaker 1

have to like detach from results .

Speaker 2

Well , and it's kind of for the sake of doing it , because it's like , okay , 1200 people like what you have to say , like that's a lot of fucking people , so why can't I a dopamine or serotonin hit every time ?

Speaker 1

Oh , I have 10 more followers . Yeah , that's a serotonin or a . It's a dopamine release , you know , and so it's so easy to get addicted to that and this kind of segues into one of my other .

Speaker 2

Okay , go the Dobson drop . Okay , all right . So this was kind of exciting .

Speaker 1

I hated him so much . I think we know the title of this episode now .

Speaker 2

Totally . We do know the title . Okay , so Dobson James Dobson , as you know , karen , but people may not know was a evangelical author , pastor blah blah blah , child molester , sexual predator , and I haven't even looked into that , yeah , cause I've seen TikToks now that knew him and he was creepy AF . Um , he was starting to become popular in the seventies and he wrote a book called the Strong Willed Child . And I it's because of you , this is all because of you , karen . So I didn't , I , he has not been on my radar . I had no idea who he was . I didn't recall who he was until you , mess , texted me and you said oh , mom bought one of his books to use on you . And I said what are you talking about ? And you said I was going . I was like Dobson died .

Speaker 1

I was telling everybody Dobson died .

Speaker 2

Who's Dobson Dobson ? And then you said , well , mom bought his book the Strong-Willed Child to use for you and it hit me in such a guttural place and it was like instant knowing . Oh , I know exactly who this is . I know , and you had even said that she was trying to force us to read books that he wrote when we were in teenage , when we were teenagers .

Speaker 1

I don't remember if she did that with you or not , but I had to read a book about puberty or something like that that he wrote .

Speaker 2

I'm pretty sure he gave that book to me . But are you kidding ? You think I was going to fucking read that . I read it all at once in my knowingness of who this guy was and how fucking insidious and and disgusting his teachings are . Um , so I did a quick like review , oh , and I said and I went to chat and I'm like , just tell me what's in this book . And I was so like set back because basically he preached and taught and wrote about , about basically hitting your children and treating them like their dogs , like he used his dog and how his dog would misbehave unless he hit his dog as an example on how to raise strong-willed children .

Speaker 2

And then I remembered the wooden spoon . And and then I remembered the wooden spoon , and then I remembered the times that mom , no matter how much logic there was , she would not give in to what I was saying , even though , because I could out-argue mom , like in my sleep , like my sense of logic is so strong , and it always has been , that I could easily argue my way out of anything , but she just wouldn't budge . And that's what made me angry . It wasn't that I got punished , it was that she would not see logic and she would not accept logic and , and because of that , I that's part of why I have such a hatred for authority , because I don't mind rules or laws , but if they make no fucking sense and they're not logical , then I refuse to follow them . And so it all came rushing back . So I went , I wrote a curse on Dobson's soul and I went outside so I could scream and I you probably saw it I saw , yeah , I I I yelled and I screamed this fucking curse on his fucking soul to to , with every ounce of my spirit . And then I just posted it and it went viral . Which , um , it went . It went to like 10,000 .

Speaker 2

But after that I decided , well , some people were like who the fuck is this ? And so I did a follow up where I talked about who he was , what he taught and a little bit about our story and our mom and how , because of Dobson's patriarchal bullshit crap , our mom , you know , found the first strong , authoritarian man she could find and fucking married him and took him away from his other wife literally was like not wife , but yeah , they were common law , what they'd been living together for like 30 years or something about . The time came around and they start their affair and then they get married and the rest of the bullshit of what he did to us ensues . And I told that story and which is interesting because that's like the story , right , like that's our story of our life and why we have fucked up brains and all the trauma and I mean , you know , and that he took our mom away , all of it it's just the worst tragic story of our entire , of our entire lives , and so it was interesting to just share that with the world .

Speaker 2

You know , and I didn't really think about who would see it it's now at like 50,000 views and it's like , oh my God , you know , wow , like I never expected to tell our story and have it go viral like that , but it's an empowering feeling to know that , first off , it's a brave story to tell , but also that that many people have now seen it , you know and heard it , and there's a certain amount of liberation in that , to be like I have told . I have told the world my story now and a lot , you know , a lot of people saw it , liked it , commented on it , blah , blah , blah , and it's just a feeling of like , oh well , it healed me a little bit , considering that that story involves someone who literally said the words to me if you ever tell anyone , no one will believe you .

Speaker 2

Right those words out of his face , at my face and so it's kind of you know , it's like empowering , yeah , I mean and , and it definitely feels like when you see the story laid out , it's like wow , that is a fucked up story , you know , and and and also to feel people have compassion , you know , or a lot of people just relating to it because they have very similar stories , healed a little bit , you know . And the next thing I kind of wanted to do is take a big old photo of of him , put it up on face on the tiktok and be like it's this guy , this is the man , it doesn't matter and his daughter flushed his ashes down the toilet .

Speaker 2

this is our stepdad , our work there is done Our work his natural daughter , who he was . If he was bad to us , he was about 3 million times worse to her . Yes , and I did connect with her this past week . Oh good , I just we just chatted on Facebook a little and it was . It was nice to connect but yeah , just so everybody knows , had his ashes cause she was his daughter and she flushed him down the fucking toilet . Bye .

Speaker 1

Oh good , I hated him .

Speaker 2

Much . In the meantime , we spread our mom's ashes all over the fucking planet , like our mom is floating all over the planet and all the different places you and I have traveled We've sent , we've brought her ashes , and so our mom , even though our mom had some issues . But she was also a product of a very difficult time . You know when I was thinking about when she and dad got divorced . You know it had only been about four or five years that women could even have bank accounts in their own name and dad got divorced . So when our mom got divorced , it was really hard for a woman .

Speaker 1

I didn't know anybody else At the time . I did not know anyone else who had divorced parents .

Speaker 2

We didn't , no , we were the anomaly in the neighborhood For a while .

Speaker 2

For a while , yeah , and , and I remember feeling that like I'm different now as my parents are divorced , like we are somehow in a different category now , yeah , and there was some shame in it and there was some , well obviously lots of confusion when you're a child , of course , but but anyway , I just that was just a very liberating thing that happened . So that's my dobson drop . So he , the guy , is dead , gone forever from this earth and we are all better for it . And and you know , those old evangelical writers and pastors and dipshits , they're're all going to start dying , and they already are dying . But it's just , it just reminds me that it's a new time , it is coming . All of those , all of those old white men are going to die soon , like in the next few years . They are all going to leave this fucking planet . I'm , that's just something to be . That does lead to another one of my topics , but but are you sure ? Yeah , I have apocalypse orange ? Oh , yes , so , because we're speaking about men we hate . Of course , the orange stain was not planned . Yeah , no , we did not plan this , it just comes up organically . The orange stain , as our dad calls him .

Speaker 2

I've been calling him the mango Mussolini , um , I've been cursing him and hexing him almost daily on TikTok . I've started to share some of those on Facebook . I think some of our family that that's on Facebook is like oh my god and . But I was like , fuck it , I don't care more . The more people see a curse , the better it spreads . So so . But I also did a reading , a tarot reading , on the demise of the Mango Mussolini , and if you are in the TikTok sphere you'll know that there was a prediction

Tarot Readings and Political Predictions

Speaker 2

made that on August 24th he was going to die and a lot of people made a big deal out of it on social media yeah , it was not just on TikTok , I think , it was all over the place and of course , he didn't die .

Speaker 2

So I decided to do a reading , tarot reading with my Buffy deck on the death demise of Mango Mussolini , and the first card was the Page of Cups . That basically shows it's supposed to be a card about some young buck who has it all , who is charming , who is able to like , get everyone to believe him . He owns the room . So I interpreted that as like that's where Trump is right now is he thinks he's got it all , he thinks that he's the king , he's very bloated with his ego and more than ever because he feels like he's got everyone hooked . But in a sense I interpreted it as the emperor is wearing no clothes , so he's going to get so , so full of himself even more and more as he gets more and more disconnected from reality and into his own dementia , that it's going to get to a point where he just makes a full on like spectacle of himself and then he's going to get sloppy because he's going to be so in his ego that he's going to get sloppy .

Speaker 2

So then the next card I pulled was justice , so that it seems obvious . So in my prediction is that after he makes some big stupid gaffe because he's he's so , his ego is so bloated that he is going to have to face the consequences for it , and just with justice , and that that will completely tear him down like he . He will have to face a certain amount of reality at that point and he'll be humiliated . And then the last card I pulled was the magician reversed . So how I interpreted that is the magic is all run out . So magician is like you've got you , it's a willow on the car Right .

Speaker 2

Well , I think , and therefore it manifests like it's not the magician is like mastery of energy , mastery All of that is drained out , all drained out upside down , and that basically hit , the magic spell is going to wear off .

Speaker 2

Yeah , we're gonna get pulled back and we're going to see the emperor is wearing no clothes , that's . I thought that was a pretty good one . Well , I did so . Then I did an astrology reading and he is having a very interesting transit in that Saturn . He has Saturn in Cancer at the late degrees , like 23 degrees . That's exactly . My son is exactly 23 degrees Cancer . Oh wow . But Jupiter is moving ever closer . So , first off , jupiter on Saturn .

Speaker 1

I mean , is it bigly , is that bigly ?

Speaker 2

Is it bigly ? Is that bigly ? It is bigly . Jupiter is bigly on everything , and so Saturn is about integrity , about karma , and so with Jupiter there bloating it up , then it feels like it could be an explosion , in that sense of his whole house of cards comes crashing down because his whole structure was built on a faulty premise , like a house built on sand right . So Saturn is going to be like your time is up , basically , and then also coming across from a square , from Libra , is Mars . So Mars likes to activate transits . Mars transits can affect your health because Mars is fiery and it cuts , and so Mars is often a nice way for a transit , to sort of ignite , and so Mars will be squaring that between now and the middle of September . And also Eris is at exactly 25 degrees Aries , so another square , and I feel like Aries has to have her say Rolling some apples .

Speaker 2

Yeah , like , basically , your time is up is how I'm reading that , and that happens over the course of the next month , and so I'm very hopeful that we'll see something break loose by the end of September . So that is , that's what I see in the stars , that is what the tarot deck told me . So I've got hope . Hope is still alive . Well , good , yeah , so that's that All right . So what else on your list ? Well , no , we've done my list a couple . Now you have to do one , you want to .

Speaker 1

I have left , I have higgification and preoccupied I like higgification . Okay , so I struggle in the winter when it's so dark and cold . I'm not a big fan of the cold , and so I will sometimes get kind of depressed and whatnot . And so , even though it is not even September yet , I have already started preparing by . It's still 90 degrees out , karen . I know that's how much I dislike the cold , bleak winter . And so I've been . Well , first I bought a bunch of like little fairy lights that are battery operated and have a timer

Higgification and Winter Preparations

Speaker 1

in them , so that I can put them all over the place in my house and they'll just like , when it starts to get dark , they'll just come on and then , like six hours later , they go off . And but then I don't want to be buying and wasting tons and tons of batteries . So that got me into pulling out my rechargeable batteries and my battery recharger . So I've been charging batteries for like all week , like literally all week .

Speaker 2

Higafication .

Speaker 1

What does that mean ? Oh well , it's that . It's that word Higa . It's like a coziness . And so this is part cause , because creating like a warmer , like a glow , creating like a warmer , like a glow , just a gentle glow somewhere in the house that provides just a little light , it's just a . It feels like like even when I'm talking about it , I can feel it in my body , like it's like a coziness that is just like palpable , and so that when it comes I will be ready .

Speaker 2

I have zero dread . I love the winter . I love the cool air . I hate the summer , just not a big fan . It's so weird because I was born in the middle of summer and you were born in the middle of winter . I'm actually born in autumn . You're actually born right before winter starts . That's right . I always think of December as winter , but then I remember it's not . But you were born in a colder time of year . Yeah , you prefer warmth and I prefer cold .

Speaker 1

Well , I mean , I'm not a big fan of heat , but I like light .

Speaker 1

And so , having the long days , it feels like I get off work and there's a whole day after that where I can do stuff , and in the winter it's like I get off work and it's already dark , yeah . And so I feel like I think it's a Sagittarius thing . I feel kind of trapped because I can't just go run around and do whatever I want because it's cold and dark and it might be dangerous , and and so I just resent that . And so then if I make little nooks I mean I'm even working on wrapping my chandelier in these lights so that even when the light is off it'll just glow Like in my mind it's a ghost chandelier . I don't know why , but that's just how it is . I think that's going to look gorgeous , but yeah , so anyway .

Speaker 1

So that's one of the things I've been working on is this higification . I'm like cozying it up in advance . Love it , I love all that is . It's just I got to be ready and with all the timers and everything , they just come on . Yes , I like that and everything they just come on . Yes , I like . It's like a little moment of like whimsical delight every time it happens .

Speaker 1

I love that , thank you what else is on ?

Speaker 2

your list . Well , I do have engaged taylor's version . I knew we were going to talk about this . I didn't know taylor , so elsie got engaged . Not surprising . We called that . I called that out that when they first started dating and I looked at their charts and we did that reading

Taylor Swift Engagement News

Speaker 2

on both of them and we knew from just looking at their charts that this is a meant to be thing . There's so much compatibility , so much harmony , so many good things between their charts that it was inevitable Like this was her guy , this was her man it was inevitable .

Speaker 1

Like this was her guy , this was her man . As soon as I heard the news because my daughter spread that news about like I spread James Dobson's death I thought , oh , I wish I had gone back and listened to our when we were doing the cosmic disruption podcast , because I know you did look at those charts and I't remember if you had . I knew they were compatible , but I couldn't remember if you made any predictions . Yes , I did .

Speaker 2

And I also found those recordings , those old episodes of Cosmic Disruption , our first podcast . I found a page where they're still there , even though they're gone from our we messed up just in case anybody cares . No-transcript . I haven't looked at their charts right now , so you know as far as the timing of , but I did see some other astrologer had written something about the timing being perfect between them . So so that's just exciting . I mean it's not going to make a difference in the world and all the things that are wrong , but if you are in the fandom it's just really exciting to see her so happy and to see them together . That the New Heights podcast for two hours . We got to hear her talk and him talk and hear about their life and it's just fun . I think fandom is so fun . It just brings a bright spot into life .

Speaker 1

Well , one thing my daughter said this kind of ties back to the whole going to the ball . Yeah , for American fans , this is the equivalent of like a royal wedding , right , absolutely . And so I have to say , even though I'm not , I think that they're adorable and I wish them happiness . And I'm not like a big , I'm not in the fandom . Yeah , I'm excited to see all of like I watch , I like watching costumes go by , and so I'm excited to see whatever we're allowed to see of all of that . And I he has been so generous to share her life with her fans that I and so all of the costumes that she's got amazing designers that she can right , so I'm excited to see what comes from that .

Speaker 2

I'm excited to see . Not who knows , they might do a very small family thing , but I am excited to see , like the aesthetics of her wedding and her dress and just the beautiful photos . And then we have the new album coming out on October 3rd . So that is the big excitement is that is still coming and it's almost just a month away . So I'm very excited about that because they're like 12 bangers is what they say , and I do my dance exercise to Taylor Swift and so I'll have 12 new bangers to exercise too .

Speaker 2

I got one of those again saw it on TikTok one of those twisty platform things where you stand and you twist on it and it's got like a spring . Grandma had something . Grandma had the one that was wood that just kind of spinned on the ground . Yeah , first , first version . But this one has like springs and stuff and it is the most fun time to use with good music because you just kind of you just kind of wiggle , you wiggle and it moves you around and it . So it's like you're dancing . But you're also like getting good cardio because you're able to like bounce around a little bit more and use your body weight to move yourself side to side . So it's kind of like doing the twist yeah , the actual twist but you have a little platform beneath you that springs you into that motion and so I use it and I dance on it . So I'm using it , but I'm dancing with my arms , and then sometimes I have to get up and just dance because I have to .

Speaker 2

And Kira , my Aussie , she now is obsessed with this time after work where she gets to dance with me . She pulls herself all the way up . So I'm holding her paws . She loves it . She gets so excited when I start dancing . It's just the cutest thing . So I've only been doing it a week , so I guess I can't expect great results yet , but I do feel so much better to be getting active every single day for the most part . So , yeah , so that's the good news . Oh , I have other good news too , but why don't you do your other item and then I'll do my good news ?

Speaker 1

Okay , well , my only other item is that I've been very preoccupied .

Kitten Joy and New Beginnings

Speaker 2

Oh well , yeah , this is the preoccupied . This is where the news gets really good .

Speaker 1

Yeah , well , I mean , I think I already had them when we recorded last , is that right ? Oh , we just talked about .

Speaker 2

Oh , did you Well tell everybody what we're talking about .

Speaker 1

Well , I think I had definitely lost my 17 year old kitty and been really struggling with all of that grief , and my husband had originally said , oh , let's wait until after the new year . And then we did talk about this last . Yeah , we did so . So we're into it . My 17 year old kitty has been gone a month and we've had the kittens now for three weeks , yes , and they've gone to the vet twice for vaccinations and all of that and things are . Things are just going really well . They're adorable . Oh , they're so funny . They bring so much light and joy into everything . And I got them a .

Speaker 1

It's mori and it , no , it is princess amoria . First of her name , right , and we call her mori , but I actually do call her amoria Amoria , it just works . And then Monroe Von blah blah , blah and blah , blah , blah is replaced . So I think he's been Monroe Von Needlefeet , monroe Von Waterweasel , monroe Von Banana Thief . That was new .

Speaker 1

Every day it's a new name . Well , it's not even always every day , it's just the days when he does something goofy that really stands out . So , oh , there was monroe von king of the post , when he was like super into standing on top of his scratching pose and then monroe von house frow because he insists on laying on the floor in front of my stove and reaching his paws and I am mortified at the shit he's been pulling out from under my stove . It is nasty . I mean like I pull that thing out , pull that out and clean under and around because . But monroe has taken care of the front part because he has to believe how many of dippy's old toys he's found that's so cute . Then I get a little emotional hit . Oh , I swear we received his ashes . I think we talked about that .

Speaker 2

We got the ashes the same day that you took the kittens in for their first For the vet .

Speaker 1

That is a very confusing place . It was emotional whiplash , yeah Well . And the thing that was the hardest was when we got home and we just happened to receive a card in the mail from the vet's office that same day . So he just picked up his , his ashes , and then my husband opens this thing and there was a paw print ink , paw prints and a nose print and I went down yeah of course down , of course , but anyway , the kittens are hysterical .

Speaker 1

We put up a tower for them in my office like a cat tree thing , and it's tall so they can run all around on it .

Speaker 2

They're in your office with you all day during the work day .

Speaker 1

So when I when my husband's at work , then I bring them out here with me and the , and this tower has a like a litter box behind a cabinet , so they have a litter box in here and they can run around and play and then we go . When we go in the house , I can take them in there . I they're still small enough and mischievous enough that I have to keep an eye on them . Why not have them spend the day with you ? Oh , 100% . And then I got them some toys that look like bloody knives and they're so funny and they love them . I mean , and I've I am spoiling these cats . They have so many toys now . It's ridiculous . They have a toy box , like a box full of toys . That's great , and I'll pick up at the end of the day and then they'll get in the box and drag the toys out that they want to play with and they drag them all over the place . It's ridiculous . And my husband got a shipment of something and it had like that long brown paper yes , I have that stretched out all over the place because they love like pouncing on it and stuff . So my house is a junk heap because there's toys everywhere and I boxes for them to play in and everything , like everything is centered on the babies , as it should .

Speaker 1

Amoria is , she's the one who was trapped , so yeah , so she was caught in a trap , so she is a lot more nervous right yesterday , so she's hard to approach , she doesn't cuddle as much . I mean , she's our challenge . Yesterday she was sleep sitting on my sofa and so I gently sat next to her and I did not bother her , I did not ask anything of her , and she voluntarily came over and got in my lap and let me pet her and purred and rolled around in my lap and licked my fingers and rubbed up against me and touched her nose to mine , which is a big deal to me and I felt they talk about raising your vibration and like the higher it goes , I like I almost became celestialized my vibration got so high because she was irritated , yeah , I mean .

Speaker 1

And then , monroe , because my kittens love to sleep in the quote unquote lap of my plastic skeleton , rodney , and so because I have Rodney sitting at the dining room table and they go and get in Rodney's lap all the time . That's hilarious , so funny , it's ridiculously funny . And yeah , they are just goofy Cozy . I mean , it's bones , bones , well , but there's nothing there , like they're sleeping between the femurs on the seat of this chair , right , but anyway , they like the little nook that it creates . After I had been petting mori for a while , monroe saw what was going on , came barreling over and voluntarily got in my lap with her and I was like this is .

Speaker 1

I mean I was hitting like peak vibes , right . That's a peak experience , yeah , and it doesn't last very long , but it is like I I woke up still Hashtag blessed this morning . Because , yeah , and then I tried to put eyeliner on , and it all went to hell .

Speaker 2

I don't even know . I mean , part of me wants to wear eyelashes and do the whole thing . Oh , I have some of those coming . Well , my eyes will just sit there in water . I don't know . I feel okay about what I'm wearing , but when it comes to my face , I don't know . I feel okay about what I'm wearing , but when it comes to my face , I don't know .

Speaker 2

And another thing that is to circle back to the whole TikTok thing , having a TikTok , of course , I heavily rely on the filters , like they make me look amazing , they make me look really young and like , so , like the mirrors are cruel . Yeah , so it's true , I will have spent time working on editing or whatever , or making my tiktoks , looking at myself with these amazing quote-unquote self , yeah , and then I go to the bathroom and I look in the mirror and I'm like , ah , I'm like that is not you , that is not what you look like , debra , and it's just sad , it just makes me feel sad . They make me look so good and I'm like it's still your face , it's still your bone structure , it's still your eyes , it's makeup on you and I don't wear makeup hardly ever . And so the fact is that I need .

Speaker 1

Oh , so that's all a filter . Yeah , it's just makeup . I thought you had been . I thought you had been actually like dolling yourself up for all these videos . Oh , that's just the filter .

Speaker 2

I mean I make sure I have my eyebrows done so that I have eyebrows , but the rest of it is makeup filters . And so I tell myself , if I went and spent a hundred bucks on someone doing my makeup professionally , I would look like that . That's what I tell myself .

Speaker 1

Well you could start placing on your wonder liner and see how that goes for you .

Speaker 2

It was like my eyes are watering like crazy right now . Like makeup is a difficult eye makeup is really difficult , but I don't know . So we'll see how we end up looking next week .

Speaker 1

Okay , I have one last thing it's a vampire ball . Right , vampires can look like any fucking thing yeah , but I can be from any fucking time period right , look gorgeous , though I know I do too . I want to look deadly and I want that venus and scorpio moment yeah , but I'm also kind of a pudgy 57 , you know what I think we're gonna have ?

Speaker 2

fun . Yeah , good , yes , and we're gonna have lots of eye candy , other people , what they're wearing , what they're , what they look like , oh , on the show . It's kind of quick as soon as we step away from our mirrors and go to the damn thing , let's just have a good time and not let our self-esteem ruin it for us .

Speaker 1

No , and I actually had a moment like that . It was like I was at one of the our local golf nights here and I was dancing and I was thinking about that , because some of the people there are young and beautiful and they're amazing dancers . And I thought , and here I am , this pudgy old lady , just my Victorian hairstyle , you know , just like shuffling around in the corner by myself , right , and I had that one of those moments like shuffling around in the corner by myself , right , and I had that one of those moments . And then I thought , you know what , though , when I was that age , I was too uptight to dance . Yeah , I've even been to .

Speaker 1

Even when I was at my youngest and most vibrant , I wouldn't have been doing that because I was so uptight about what I looked like and this and that , and I'm like . So I'm still , you know , not comparing myself to anybody , but myself . I'm waiting because I'm at this stage of my life where I'll go dance by myself , because it's a song I like and that's like living life , I mean . And so I'm . So , even if I'm not young and beautiful , at least I'm . I'm here for a good time , not a long time , right , that's literally been my motto for a while .

Speaker 2

I mean , I'm just in it for the plot now . Nothing else matters . The world , this shit , I mean some of the . I watched several ice captures last night where people are walking . Now the great news is that pretty much every time I see a video of ICE kidnapping people , there are dozens of other people screaming at them and shaming them and making jokes about them and just tormenting them . And

Resistance in Difficult Times

Speaker 2

it's so beautiful and just tormenting them and it's so beautiful .

Speaker 2

Like , everywhere you look now , people are coming out . If they are around , even if it's just one person with a phone and they're at Home Depot , people are getting very much in their face , in front of them , blocking their way , being a nuisance , like people are showing up and that is exciting because that's what it takes every night in DC . At a certain time they now have a neighborhood all the neighborhoods come out and they bang on pots and pans and they scream about I and they basically are basically sending a message throughout the city by screaming with each other at a certain time of day , with the kids out there on pots and pans , basically telling the National Guard and the ICE agents that they're not welcome in their city . So I mean , and other people are like , if they see ICE , they're going down , up and down their neighborhood screaming ICE , don't open your door . Like that is encouraging because that's the shit that has to happen . It's kind of , in a way , like I mean , I'm really glad I live where I live , I love being in the country , I love Oregon , but have a little envy right now being able to like get in the face of one of them and just basically , early , I'm up and down , give it to them .

Speaker 2

Yeah , I did see now Portland , of course the ice building is they're going off , like people in Portland are there around the clock , like I used to be there , like at that ice building . We did occupy ice and I practically lived there when we did that during the first term . So I'm definitely like , oh , I don't live there anymore , I can't do that . But that's just what it takes is like we have to resistance . Resist , yeah , you have to throw everything , yeah . So it's so hard to watch , though . It's so hard to watch these poor guys like they're in there . I know one of the ones in DC was they were just in their garden truck , gardening truck just going to do someone's yard , to do their gardening , and they pulled the truck over and they grabbed the two guys out and the neighbors . The neighborhood was so angry . They're like . These people have been working and making our yards beautiful for years . They're part of our neighborhood . Oh , it's just so fucking gut wrenching .

Speaker 1

No , it is Another act of resistance for people who are unable to physically show their is to donate to bail funds .

Speaker 2

Oh , that's a great idea . Now I also heard that they are in DC anyway , and I don't know if this is 100 percent accurate , but they are talking about doing away with the bail bond system , meaning you have to make your full bail . Wow , and if you have to make your full bail and you can't use a bail bond , that's you're fucked . You're everybody's fucked , because nobody can afford that .

Speaker 1

Well , in Chicago , the mayor has signed an executive order basically saying , yeah , chicago , the mayor has signed an executive order basically saying , yeah , no , masks have to have badges with names , license plates have to match the cars . And I was . I mean , I knew about the mask thing . I did not know that they were using plates from different cars . They're criminals . I had no idea it was that like that underhanded .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I mean , they're disgusting animals , these fucking they know it , or they wouldn't be wearing masks and using license plates from other cars . They know that what they're doing is nasty ?

Speaker 2

yes , hate them , I just want to get . I'm so badly , it's like itching all over to just fucking get in there . I was thinking , after the masquerade vampire ball , of just going down to the ice building in Portland . I'm like we could just go down there after the ball and your teeth in .

Speaker 1

You're going to have teeth . Right , I didn't get teeth . Do I really need teeth ?

Speaker 2

You're going to a vampire ball I know , but you have to send me a link because I don't even know what to buy .

Speaker 1

I don't know what to buy , is it ? I'm sure there's some spirit halloween's open already where it goes big plastic , yucky . Oh , there's a brand like by Scarecrow , I think , where you heat up this like paste and then you stick them to your teeth and then they'll come back out , but it's almost like a two-part mixture like for acrylic nails or something like that , but it's safe for your mouth and you can , and that's what I used for years before I got the ones made that I have now . You had them made . Yeah , I have , I have now . You had a maid . Yeah , I have custom teeth now .

Speaker 2

Custom vampire teeth . I do . That is next level , my goodness .

Speaker 1

I do . Awesome . Yes , they fit exactly . They're like color matched . Oh my God , where'd you get those made ? I got them made by a guy named Victor at a pirate event several years ago . That's so cool . But I'm thinking about getting a new pair when I go , because in New Orleans , where our friend has the vampire cafe apothecary , she has a fangsmith who works out of there . That's amazing and he makes really low profile ones that are easier to talk with , and I want a pair of the real like so they're real subtle . Yes , because then I could wear them more easily .

Speaker 2

I like that Well , I guess I have to . I guess I have to look at teeth . Then this week , well , I have one little , one little last thing of good news . Oh . Then this week , well , I have one little , one little last thing of good news . Oh , I want to hear it . I already told you , but you can be happy for me all over again .

Speaker 2

My script , the , my script called red flag , which is a script that my partner and I have written about a coven , an ancient coven of witches , who has the divine authority to kill and massacre predatory men , is now in the finals . That's so great , yes . Or the semi-finals we were in the semi-finals , that is super cool . And of this contest , and the feedback we got from the judge

Script Success and Final Thoughts

Speaker 2

was like so positive . It was like eight out of 10 .

Speaker 2

I don't know what , how rare , I don't know what anybody else is getting , but yeah , of course I'd love a 10 out of 10. , but I don't even know if they give those . So eight out of 10. , I'm like that's good , just . And then they didn't even really have criticism , they just said we have , just . I just they said Don't take this as criticism . These are just two suggestions that could make it even a little better , like they didn't even want to tell us that . We're not really even criticizing it , we're just saying these two little things could make it better . So we added those things and then we submit it again tomorrow and then we find out if we're in the finals .

Speaker 1

So I'm so excited I almost was because you told you did tell me and I was hoping they gave you some kind of constructive criticism that you guys could use to bump it even further . Yeah , oh good .

Speaker 2

So this is the feedback . The vibe is deadly feminist and strangely cozy . Like the craft had a goth baby with yellow jackets and fed it a steady diet of revenge , horror and trauma theory no , that is amazing .

Speaker 1

That's super cool .

Speaker 2

That is a great book . I'm on the moon with this , our first thing we've ever really tried together . Yeah , so good . I'm starting to have hopes that maybe we will actually get to make this thing , produce it , actually get it on a screen . That would be amazing .

Speaker 1

Well , I mean , and I just kind of want to highlight that if you , if you don't try , you can't succeed , right , I mean . And so you guys went out on a limb , you had an idea , you saw it through and you submitted it and look at where you are , I mean .

Speaker 2

I think it's this one contest , like we can easily enter other contests too .

Speaker 1

It's just like a , why the fuck not ? Yeah , like if you have a , an idea or a just anything like that , like just do it , cause , why not ? I mean , at least you're dancing , right , you're not ? I'm not dancing because you're too uptight about it . Just be the one dance . I love .

Speaker 2

That's what I love the most about being in my 50s is that feeling of like yeah , for the plot . What have you got to lose if not now , when that's about all ?

Speaker 1

I got sissy . Yeah , I got nothing else either . Next time we record , we will have already gone to the ball into a ball you will , and maybe , if we feel like it , we'll post some photos of it .

Speaker 2

Yes , the jerk cloud , and you still got to figure out what you're gonna wear .

Speaker 1

So yep , that's what I'm doing right after we finish recording right on . What the fuck am I gonna wear ? Or I'm gonna distract myself by working on the purse , because I'm actually excited about that part . Oh , I should make a purse .

Speaker 2

Ah , about bringing it back around yeah , well , all right , well , thank you all again for listening to another episode of the Feral Crone Podcast , and we will see you in a couple weeks . All right , bye , bye .
