Chronic absenteeism. Burnout. Students who shut down the moment things get hard. Math lessons that get buried under too many “must-dos.” We’re opening Season 7 with a preview of the conversations that kept us nodding along because they bring a minimalist approach to education back to its real job: cut the noise, protect the essentials, and make school work better for humans.

We’re sharing some of the guests we’ve been lucky to sit down with, starting with John Byrd on chronic absenteeism and how his school addressed it with a solution that’s simpler than you might expect. We’re also making sure math teachers feel seen, with Amy Howe breaking down Recon Racks and why this easy tool can do so much heavy lifting for math teaching and learning without overcomplicating your planning. Then we welcome back Lindsay, Piper, and Amanda to talk about their new book on building resilient learners, with practical strategies that matter when students hit a wall.

Community and wellness are front and center too. Sarah Candela joins us to talk about building community in the classroom, across the school, and out into families and communities, and how real connection often starts by subtracting distractions. We also bring in Martin Malone to look at teacher wellness through a PT lens, because protecting teacher time and energy is important, but protecting teacher bodies matters just as much. Season 7 also brings back a fan favorite: another round of unpopular opinions.

If you want practical professional learning, minimalist teaching strategies, and school leadership ideas that help you teach less and impact more, come along for the season. Subscribe, share this preview with a colleague, and leave a review so more educators can find the show.
