Nesting Custody vs. Joint Custody: What’s Best for the Kids?

The Question:

My biggest concern about the situation is that the children’s lives will be disrupted. My lawyer is suggesting that I do a nesting custody schedule meaning the kids will stay in the house and my husband and I will alternate living there with the kids. My husband is resisting this plan and demanding week on week off. He wants to stay in the house and wants me to move out. I obviously cannot afford to have the house on my own. This situation is really terrible and not what I wanted for my family. Please let me know if you have any insights these issues.
