Hats Off | EP.112
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Tragedy and triumph intertwine in this heartfelt episode as Jesus shares his personal connection to the Ramos family who were lost in the devastating Central Texas floods. Rather than dwelling on political aspects of the disaster, the hosts focus on the remarkable way Texans have mobilized to help each other during this crisis—proving once again why community means everything in the Lone Star State.
The conversation shifts to exciting news as the Patch Boys officially launch their first merchandise line! After countless listener requests, they've partnered with Bougie Weekday to create branded hats in multiple styles—both rugged work versions designed to withstand oilfield conditions and everyday styles for casual wear. At $30 each, these hats represent not just merch, but a way for listeners to support the podcast's continued growth.
The bulk of the episode offers fascinating behind-the-scenes insights from their recent media coverage of BKFC in Fort Worth, where they secured credentials and interviewed fighters including Andre Arlovski. Jesus and Ricky share candid stories about the challenges they faced—from managing equipment in noisy environments to conducting professional interviews despite losing their voice—while expressing genuine excitement about BKFC's fighter-friendly business model that includes giving equity to long-term fighters.
This episode perfectly balances substance with the authentic conversation style that has become the Patch Boys signature. The hosts' genuine appreciation for their growing platform shines through as they map out plans for expanding their content offerings while staying true to their Texas roots.

Texas Flood Tragedy Reflections
Speaker 1Titan Sales and Services is one of our new sponsors. They're a relatively new company. They're a relatively new company, so we want to back them up like they're backing us up. They're running out of Crane Texas and some of the stuff that they have available is Rustabout, maintenance and Construction Crews, trash Trailers, porta Potty, combo Trailers, forklifts, and they're adding new services and rentals every day. So give those guys a call at 432-307-1960. Hey, what's up everybody? Patch Boys, back again for another episode. Just me and Rick, this time the gruesome twosome. I know we've been having a lot of people coming in, a lot of interviews or whatever you want to call them, conversations and everything, and they've been fantastic and everything. But yeah, we haven't really had a chance for us to come on and have a combo, so I'm glad we got to come in today. This we're we're kind of doubling up episodes because ricky's been working a lot out of town and shit, so we want to make sure that we keep you guys covered.
Speaker 2Um yep so yeah, man, I'm glad we got to come in today me too. Uh, it's very true. We're probably gonna be putting out one later. Uh, zoom or some shit. Uh, we'll make something fun out of it. This next time I'll make sure to have probably better service, you know. Yeah, and then I realized when you use the free zoom, it doesn't give you 1080p on the recording.
Speaker 1So I'm like I'm gonna do it next time. You know, looked a little fucked up, but yeah, and you know I didn't.
Speaker 2But you know it's zoom's really good, like with the uh, the way it clicks back and forth, so it's like it saves me a lot of editing, like because it's already there, like you know what I mean. So it's like it's so much easier, bro. So I was like man I'm, the only thing I do is use the mic audio that's really it, and if you got good internet, like it's seamless- yeah, it's pretty fucking seamless and and the picture's really good.
Speaker 2I don't know what was about that damn pleasanton man, you know anywhere, anywhere go.
Speaker 1You never know where you're going to have a tower or where you're going to have good Wi-Fi or you know whatever. Yeah, but so for this episode, I wanted to start, start off personally for the Patch Boys personally, to send out condolences to anybody's family who was affected by the floods in central Texas, um, in, uh, central texas, um, so like for us, for me in particular, um, obviously, the crossing the ramos family that was affected here in midland. I knew them personally, um, I played, um, I played cornhole with them when they first started the league and I, I mean, when COVID was on, there was nothing and everybody talks about it, there was nothing. And Cody, Cody, and we call them the three amigos, right, because Cody, joe and Joel are the ones who started Patch Boys, and of course, shelly was there and Tasha was there as well, but they started the, they started uh, the the um, uh, tall city baggers, um, and it gave us an outlet, right, and it gave us an outlet to at least go.
Speaker 1Everybody, I would say everybody was scared, but not scared, because once you fucking got there, and you know they, they would have, you know we'd be drinking, we'd, we'd have a few beers, they'd have food and shit. We'd be drinking, we'd have a few beers, they'd have food and shit and people would do their best, right. Like I feel like people do their best and kind of like keep a distance here and there, but like for the most part we were just fucking playing man and we played through COVID and shit. That's one thing that sticks in my mind. And doing those tournaments and doing those tournaments and I would chat with Cody and be partnered with Joel and Joe multiple times because they would do like random partnering and stuff. So, yeah, I have very fond memories of them and of course, shelly I know through that, but also through Celeste, who's a very good friend of mine, and so obviously our deepest condolences and our prayers and everything goes out to those affected right in that family, in those families. It's two families.
Speaker 1So it's kind of hard to talk about it honestly and I really only wanted to touch base just a little a little bit personally, just a little a little bit personally, not so much patch boys style, right, but um, yeah, I mean this is where I come to kind of uh, talk about stuff like this, and so I'd be remiss if I didn't speak about it and I know everyone in this area in texas period is affected by it in some way, uh. So it just happened to be a little bit more. Just happened to be a little bit more personal, happened to be a little bit more personal for me, for the people in midland, because a lot of people in midland knew these, these people right, they affected a lot of the community, they were in the community, they were musicians and, of course, with uh, tall city baggers and everything that that, uh, they did with that. So, yeah, um, we lost great people, man, and it was a fucking horrible thing, and a lot of people around texas lost good people.
Speaker 1But, honestly, I know a lot of shit has been said about response and alerts and all of that shit, and I'm not here to get political about it or anything. I'm just simply here to say I am proud at the Texas community for how they responded, because everywhere you look, everywhere you turn, somebody's helping. So I'm proud of it. I'm proud that Texas responded that way. And there's no fucking way that I at least in my mind, when it first happened, I was like there's no fucking way that Texas isn't going to respond in the best way possible and uh, yeah, I mean, maybe some people disagree, but it's just my opinion, what I've seen, and yeah, so yeah, I mean no, honestly.
Speaker 2Um, I think it was a good response. For sure it was quick. Uh, you know everything's moving but uh, I didn't know you were like that. Knew you knew him and I know you and celeste are friends, but I didn't know you knew him personally to her family and that's yeah that's a horrible thing, man.
Speaker 2I mean, we've uh kind of kept. You know, corny's really kept up with it too and man, it was just like a really sad deal, like I felt bad, like just even man posting it, because I not not felt bad posting it, but I just felt so bad for them. You know, I'm saying, yeah, emotionally it hits you hard, bro. I was like and I, and I can only imagine that feeling. I didn't really lose anybody personally, but just to lose somebody unexpectedly is really sad. It is, and especially in a way like that.
Speaker 2And then even with the girls at the Mystic camp. That was horrible too, bro. That one got me too just thinking about that, Because, dang, that's children, you know what I'm saying, A lot of children, and it's sad, bro, and I really feel sorry for Celeste and her family. So, you know, while we're praying for you I hope you know, I know it's going to, you know that's, you know I just feel bad for them.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, and this will be. This episode will be released the same day as a memorial service, or maybe a little bit after, or whatever. But, um, I'll be there personally, um, so, yeah, like it's, it's so crazy, and just out of respect for everyone who who passed and and some people, a lot of people, are still missing and everything like this. I'm not going into anything political. I'm not going into anything political. I'm not going into any of that. This is just personal, spiritual, like people need to. You know, look for solace in God, man, because that's it's a tough one. It's a tough one man.
Speaker 2I know, and you know things like that man. You just got to give it to him because you know it's too much to bear. You know what I'm saying. You got to give it to him because you know, though, you know it's it's it's too much to bear. You know what I'm saying. You got to give us, you know, and he wants you to give it to him. So you know, I think, uh, I just feel bad man, you know you, I, you know I pray all you can and you just hope the best for everybody and, um, I just hope people find, you know, the ones that they're missing, you know because, I think that goes a long way too, you know yeah, so you know when we drove back from, because we were in Port Aransas that weekend, the weekend prior.
Speaker 2no, I think it was that night before or something. Yeah, you came back then. Yeah, we could see people out there like searching right through there by. I think it was, I think it was Comfort or something and I was like dang man. It was just like you could see. I didn't see much, but I could see something. I was like dang, you know.
Speaker 1I mean, you can see where the trees were, have been. Yeah, basically, where the water flooded over, the trees are all knocked over. You can see the pathway of the water and it's. It's such a quick and terrifying thing. You know what I mean. Um, yeah, I, I don't even like to think or imagine, um, what could have gone on or what could have happened. The videos and everything speaks for itself. You know what I mean.
Speaker 1And, yeah, one thing out of it is that Celeste sister Haley is going to be coming back into our community and herself and her fiance are actually looking for work here. So, if you guys know of anything, she might be looking for something in reception or anything. Um and um, uh, her fiance is ready to do whatever. You know, handiwork or whatever. Basically, you guys have they posted it on Facebook, so, um, I'll give it to you to post if, or, or share or whatever.
Speaker 1Um, but if anybody out there has something like, um, obviously their family got hit the hardest here in uh, in Midland, and uh, it's up to our community to show up and show out. You know what I mean. So, uh, let's help them out, if we can help them out, and, uh, find a position, uh, for him and for her, if possible. She's teacher. She's a teacher normally, um, but she thinks it's it's going to be too much to go back to teaching this year, so she's going to take time off from teaching and just do a different job for now. So if anybody has anything, you know, reach out to them. They're on Facebook and if you need to connect through us, let us know. I'll make the connection if I need to. So, yeah, thanks, I think, uh, I think I just want to touch on the subject just a little bit and then you know, yeah, we can, we can move forward I'm glad you did uh, you know, because, uh, yeah, and I knew I knew had to be you because I was.
I9 Sports & Cowboys Discussion
Speaker 2I know that's a little more personal for you. So no, I mean uh, but you know it's just a crazy thing. You know the way it's going and yeah, stuff like that. You know, and um, I appreciate, uh, you bringing that up, so you know yeah I think you're right, we'll move forward and kind of go from there. But you know for sure one thing I wanted to speak about, just to kind of get off that little bit was um that we, when we had on uh your uh i9 sports that was a good conversation, man.
Speaker 2I didn't expect, uh, I didn't expect to get all the info out of them. You know, know, like it was cool man, like you know, like just talking to him and stuff and you know, yeah, one thing for sure is that he's 100% still a Cowboys fan.
Speaker 1I don't you know what I mean. Maybe he doesn't present himself that way or whatever, but you could tell like he felt strongly about the Cowboys. And I mean, for all the Cowboys fans that want you know the Cowboys are going to be good this year. I keep telling people like they're going to be good. I mean maybe not fucking deep playoff run, super Bowl good, but they're going to be good. So it's not like you know just because Schottenheimer's in there and you heard it straight from him, like he knows him personally, so you know he was. He worked under mccarthy too, so he knows him personally. So maybe he knows he looked very confident. Yeah, like so if I was a cowboys fan and I'm talking to him and he's talking to me like that really confidently, I'm like shit, I know we're gonna be good. You know.
Speaker 2I mean I felt a little happy about that, you know, because I I didn't. I didn't know what to expect either and when he talked I was like he's probably the only guy hurt anybody. Talk good about him, because usually everybody's like what. You know what I mean, like I was mad too and I was like, why couldn't we get d on, bro? You know what I mean, like you know, just one of those things. But like, uh, even my mom was mad, dude, yeah and she's like what you know. Who is this guy?
Speaker 1it's because it's because you know it's kind of hard to get someone that's unfamiliar, familiar and everything. But as far as the pedigree, he has the pedigree. Yeah, like his dad was was a very good uh coach, right, so he has the pedigree, and then him coming off the carroll tree, which is pete carroll, who's the coach for the raiders, like, uh, he's coming off that tree, like I don't know much about schottenheimer, but him saying, hey, he's a player's coach, makes sense, right for that, for that coaching tree, that's's what they do. Yeah, they have their players. You know, play hard.
Speaker 2Yeah, and even, like you know, when you spoke about like the little insight on them, looking at that little screen on the tablet, that was pretty good too, because I always thought it was video. I didn't know it was photos bro.
Speaker 1Just a straight picture.
Patch Boys Merch Launch
Speaker 2Yeah, what the heck, yeah, what the heck. There you go. I got you now Taking a picture of your boy Got some extra lights going on. You know one thing to point out, man. I know you've seen it, we got it, we finally got it, and it's the Haas. Man, you know it's finally did it. We got Jesus and me, man, we've been talking about it for a while and you know, justin, put us on with somebody and, uh, I'm gonna put, I'm gonna put them out.
Speaker 1It should be bougie. Um, I'm gonna get it right right here. Yeah, no problem. And man, so shout out, shout out, underdog man, of course, man, you know, we, we, at this point, we're, we're like conjoined twins with underdog. You know what I mean. We're, we're right there with them and and we got some big, upcoming uh content that we're gonna be doing with them, uh, but, but for now, just a thank you to them for uh, letting us get in contact with their connect, for you know, the merch and everything, and it's not a hundred percent rolled out or anything like that, but we definitely want feedback.
Speaker 1If you guys like it and, um, you know, contact us on instagram, facebook, on anything. Basically, dm us and let us know if you would like one, if you want to get your hands on one. We kind of want to gauge, um, you know, the market that we have. If they're nice enough, if they're good enough, we want, we also want some people to get their hands on them and let us know if they, if they really like them. This way, maybe some changes, whatever. But the the good thing about it is that we took the first step. Ricky hooked it up. He had his hands all over it, uh, helping with the design.
Speaker 2All I did was say, yeah, these are badass well, no, you, you did help out the black one, the black and, and uh, and the dark drops on the side. Yeah, man, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1Uh, that was me, that was my touch, but so I have to.
Speaker 2I have to give this to his. It's Bougie Weekday. They helped us out a lot, man. I mean, the lady was literally. I mean, I probably and you know how this guy knows how I get sometimes I second guess a lot I'm over here, I don't know, I don't know. You know, she really was really cool, confident, quick and you know, big shout out to bougie weekday. Uh, they're on instagram, we follow and they follow us, uh. So, you know, we'll be shouting them out here in a minute, a little later. But, um for sure, just want to say thanks, man. The hats are coming out. We're selling them for 30 each. Uh, you know, but, um, you know, just think of it too, is anytime you buy one, you're helping us out too. So it's a great little merch. People love them. I think the hats are good. Uh, yeah, I got a lot of comments already. Just just having, you know, we kind of had them hidden. Like you know, we've been trying to. Yeah, like I said it's not.
Speaker 1It's not a full official rollout, like we don't have a store set up or nothing like that, uh, but, like I said, we want some people to get their hands on them and tell us you know what they're doing, uh, and if they like them, we want to make sure if they're, if they're useful for what we set them up for right, because if you can see the hats, the hat that I'm wearing is much more work oriented right for all the people that listen to us in the field or whatever that want to wear this hat. Uh, it should hold up pretty well, um, and that's what we want to see. And, of course, the ivory and the white you can see. You can uh see the, the white and black uh version behind ricky there, yeah, um, there, you know you, you go out on the town, you're out just hanging around, whatever.
Speaker 1They're an everyday hat and that's why they got a little bit more of a posh lettering on them and uh, so you know, uh, just, if you guys have comments or anything, let us know we. We really want to hear it and, yeah, if you want one man, hit dm us. Uh, we'll get back to you as quick as we can, and try to get some in everybody's hand, everybody that wants one's hand so you guys can let us know how they are.
Speaker 2Yeah, and I wanted to point out too, I did tell Underdog man I kind of stole their little style, especially on the black one right there, because I was like dude. I loved it so much, man, and I was like, hey, man, we cook it but we put a little twist on it. But I love that, I love that whole the way it comes around. And these hats, I like these hats, bro. They fit good, you know they come with everything Very comfortable.
Speaker 2Yeah, and you know, me and this guy have a different size head, so it's like crazy that we could fit both hats.
Speaker 1And a little tip, a little tip, and I'll take my hat off A little, or whatever. You guys know that they come with the, the inserts, right, the, the cardboard inserts. Keep those in. Number one, it helps the shape. And number two if you sweat, most of the sweat comes through on your forehead, so whenever you leave that in there, it just it holds up, the upholstery holds up better. So just just, uh, you know if get one. Just a little tidbit about that, right Cause I wear them and I sweat and it takes forever for me to sweat out a hat because I have that insert in there. So just FYI.
Speaker 2Yeah, you know, and also, I mean I put it out the other day, it's a it was a little short hat there. Um, you know, because they also still gonna be our sponsor, oh yeah, but we just got our own merch now, right, but uh, that one hat I put on, there's a rope and hat or something. Uh, it'll be on there. That hat man, I'm telling you, dude, I don't, I don't know what.
Speaker 2He's got a pouch on the front bro and I'm telling you I sweat my ass off like I've ruined some hats, and that hat I I didn't. I sweat like crazy and they didn't have one sweat stain I have not sweated out a Tejas Hustle hat yet.
Speaker 1And that's saying a lot for me, because I'm borderline hypohidrosis, motherfucker, look it up. But I'm borderline, like I fucking sweat when I talk too much, like sometimes in here you see me glistening and we got the fucking air conditioner on and shit, like I sweat like a motherfucker. And so, like I haven't sweated out a tejas hustle hat yet and I wear them all the time. Right, I have four hats, so I wear them all the time and I haven't sweated out yet. I have no stains in them, no, nothing. So, yeah, those hats, those hats are, are built to last and they're built for this region. Man, we abuse fucking hats like nobody's business out here. Y'all know what we're talking about, right? So, uh, yeah, man, tejas hustle, they're still firmly, uh, you know, with the patch boys and we're still going to be sharing their stuff, unboxing, doing all the stuff that we normally do for Tejas, um and yeah. But now you know, we're, we're in the game a little bit. We're not competing, we're, uh, uh collaborating, put it that way.
Speaker 2Oh, there you go. And honestly, man, I mean we've, we've had so many people come to us about, uh, getting hats, getting merch, when you're gonna do it, when you do it, and we've kind of been holding back a little bit but, um, you know, I thought it'd be a lot harder than what it is. So, just so y'all know, man, like, if you want a hat and you think it's gonna be hard, it's really not that hard. Uh, like, boujee we Day made it easy, you know, and it was really nice for us to put our own design on it and to get our own twist. But, man, jesus, you know, and me, we're just happy to finally get some out and they look good. I don't mind wearing it, nice, I love it. So, you know, and it fits perfect.
Speaker 1Light, comfortable and, hopefully, the design. You guys like the design, like I do and Ricky does, because I can wear it out and of course you know I'm a Raider fan, so I'm going to be wearing this shit through football season Black and white.
Speaker 2it's fucking perfect for me, yeah, and also I mean, you've got to think of it this way, man. It's a local podcast with a local hat company helping us out, so you know what I'm saying. Like everything's kind of local around here, so you know that's cool too. You know what I mean.
Speaker 1That's how we're trying to keep it. I mean, that's what it is, that's what we're trying to keep it and yeah, man, we love doing it, and so this is only going to help us put out more content for you guys and do what we love to do.
Speaker 2Yeah, I mean it's cool man. But you know I was excited to get them, bro, especially the black ones, because she texted, messaged me on there and I was like damn, I'm in North Dakota, but she couldn't pick them up. I said FaceTime me real quick. I need to see these bad boys, man, and I love them, bro. They look so good.
BKFC Tournament Experience
Speaker 1Yeah, man, they turned out really well. It's like a new, like I know we've got like a lot of stuff going on, but it's cool that we got you know and then it's what's next. You know, it's like we keep growing, bro, the media passes was so cool too, like that was just huge and that's kind of birthing, and which I'll I'll go off a little bit that the what we did in fort worth is kind of birthing something new with the patch boys. We don't know if we're gonna make it official yet or whatever, but the patch boys brand is definitely going to grow. We're we're trying to grow it and, um, we want to make sure that we do the right content for the right things. We do so much content, um, that it doesn't necessarily because our platform isn't as big. Like, like, joe rogan can speak to anybody and put it out on the same platform and it's going to be amazing. But since our platform isn't as big, when we put out stuff that's kind of meant for one listener or one viewer, it's kind of difficult to to get that content to that community. And uh, nino, I'll get, I'll give props to nino because he opened our eyes to that. Right, nino said if you do stuff like MMA, it's kind of difficult for your MMA viewers to get it because their algorithm is geared towards only MMA, not podcasts, and because we're putting out podcast content according to you know, the social media media platforms, it goes out to people that like podcasts but they don't necessarily want to listen to or watch the shit about mma full episodes about mma, right, the stuff with the fighters and everything that's still. You know, uh, that's still like a person-to-person conversation, everything. But what we did in fort worth was very much geared straight to the mma community or the combat sports community, right. So I think shortly, uh, we will be coming out with just basically another branch of the patch boys podcast, um, just to help us get the content to everyone possible that can view it, right. So that will be, that will be birthing something.
Speaker 1But it was an amazing experience. I know everybody's probably seen all the content by now. Ricky did an amazing fucking job doing all that fucking content, like he trickled it out Perfect. The interviews were a little fucking dicey, I can tell you, because it is loud. It was loud as fuck in there. It was very difficult managing the microphones. Now I know, like the people that do this shit like for living media, like they have their jobs cut out for them, right, and that's how it was. So he managed, um, the conversations, he managed the audio, he managed the video, like he does all of that shit. So I give mad props. Everybody who saw it was like fuck, this shit looks legit. It's fucking amazing and it's only gonna get better next time.
Speaker 1And for anybody who saw the the post fight interview, just a little fucking story on that right, your boy was in there, right, completely fucking horse. So, from the fight and watching the fight and yelling and fucking trying to pick my voice up during the interviews because it was loud in there, for because of all that, my voice was shot. I didn't have water, I didn't have anything, and I'm in there. You can actually hear me fucking trying to cough it out, uh, but I'm doing it as quietly as I possibly can and it's fucking so embarrassing, right.
Speaker 1And so when it comes time to act, to ask questions, ricky's looking at me because that's my fucking job, right, I'm supposed to lead the way there. I can't fucking speak, my voice is shot. So I basically had to. I basically had to speak in a whisper to get my uh, my words out.
Speaker 1So I couldn't do that because we were on the fourth row back, so I couldn't do that. I couldn't, I couldn't, you know, uh, enunciate or whatever the fuck you want to call it right. But I couldn't do it anymore and I told ricky, I just whispered to him because he was telling me, he was telling me, hey, what's going on? I was like dude, if I, if I speak, I'll cough, my voice is shot. Um, and so, when arlovsky came around, ricky fucking took the reins. And your, the question that you guys hear is ricky, we would have had a lot more questions had I been okay, but ricky took the reins and I want to give him mad props for that, because he sounded so professional, so prepared, and he made the patch boy sound legitimate. So, you know, I just want to give him his flowers for that and I know he's very proud of himself because he was doubting himself when we, when he, we went in there for sure, and I failed him, I was, I was, I was shot.
Speaker 2Well, you know you did a lot, man. And uh, is you're right though? Because I was like looking at you and you were like, yeah, no, my my throat's blown or whatever. And I was like dang dude, like, and I'm thinking, man, we gotta do something, bro, like for sure. And that question I told a couple people this already, but that question, uh, I didn't have it in my head, like I had another question before that and some guy took it, and the Chupacabra guy took it, yeah, the Chupacabra.
Speaker 2And I was like dang dude. So like I'm like sitting there and that question came out Every word out of nowhere. I didn't even know what I was saying and I thought I sounded crazy and told you too I was like dude fucking great job like I shook you up after that because it it was amazing, man.
Speaker 1And and fucking shout out to bkfc too, man, bkfc like as, as a, they're not so much a starter company, but they are. Yeah, they are, they're coming up. They're coming up like the ufc did. Ufc was not welcomed so easily by the sporting community and BKFC are receiving the same treatment. But these motherfuckers are doing it right, man. It's so fucking crazy. The announcements that he just made. They're giving equity to their fighters that have been fighting with them for a long time and their champions. That's fucking crazy. That doesn't exist. To give ownership to fighters in a company is fucking crazy, man. That's like. That's like, uh, you know, getting on the stock market buying shares of a company you know what I I mean? Like that. Um, they're, they're giving their fighters equity and they feel ownership in the company.
Speaker 1Conor McGregor was losing his fucking mind up there. You know what I'm saying. It was. It was bad ass altogether. Um, and, of course, the tournament that they're going to have, the bad motherfucker tournament, or I don't know exactly what it's called to have the bad motherfucker tournament, or I don't know exactly what it's called. That's gonna be fucking must see tv. It's gonna be badass, man. And, of course, platinum's back, uh, mike perry's back.
Speaker 1Oh yeah, I saw that, yeah, so it's fucking hilarious because him and mcgregor went at it and mcgregor's like you're back because I want you back, motherfucker. And it's fucking hilarious because Mike Perry's really pushing for that fight with Conor McGregor, oh yeah. And Conor's like nah, conor has his own fucking problems right now.
Speaker 2He needs to fucking chill the fuck out bro, yeah, he's doing good and then he's doing bad. It's crazy. But that photo that came out of him, it was an AI photo, like they said, oh, of them. It was a ai photo. Like they said, oh, it was yeah, like uh, they had another photo. I don't, I'm not gonna be 100 on it, but from what I read it was like uh, she put out a ai photo, like it was removed, and there's another photo of him wearing like pants. But I don't really know though, man. I mean I can't say for sure, but but it was wild, I was like dang dude.
Speaker 1I didn't see shit. I simply saw people describing what was in the photo. Yeah, chel sunael Sonnen. Yeah, so I was watching Chael Sonnen on his fucking show or social media, I don't remember and he's talking about Conor McGregor's business. And I'm like what the fuck is going on here? And so, yeah, he's talking about it and it has a weight on it and this end, anyway, I mean, but you think, about it.
Speaker 1It's putting away. You know, I don't know that, but connor's a fucking, he's a he's, he's out there. You know I'm saying you get a little eccentric whenever you have the money to to be one right to be an eccentric person yeah, I mean you're right and you know that that is crazy though, all that stuff that's going on you.
Speaker 2But you know I was going to bring that up. I was talking to jeremy a little later, after like a week later I was in north dakota. He was saying that he was probably the most watched fighter on that. On that, for that moment, like for that fight, a lot of people tuned in to watch his fight. He was saying I was like damn that's pretty good. He's like the people were telling him that like we're doing our job, jeremy.
Speaker 2Yeah, it was good though, but I was like man, that's good. I was like. That shows you a lot of support locally, everywhere People know you. And that's good man. He was like yeah, he's like I had a lot of viewership on my things.
Speaker 1Let me tell you, man, not for nothing, jeremy's putting on, even, let's say he had lost, right, but Jeremy's entertaining, yeah, yeah, he's fucking like his progression and maybe it's the works. You know his coach, ruben, I don't know, but he's definitely fighting like a BKFC fighter, not a boxer, a BKFC fighter. And this episode is brought to you by Underdog Wireline. They got the best stuff, the greatest gear, dude. I love all of it. So you know, if you're watching our videos, you're going to see it. Speaker 1He's doing stuff that just makes it exciting, right, dude? Yeah, those uppercuts, dude, that's all bkfc shit. Right there, bro, he's, he's learning how to. And I told him, man, that fucking uppercuts your best punch. And I told him the first time that we talked to him, like, I feel like that uppercut is what you know, yeah, what you really like, one of your best punches. And he fucking used it beautifully this time and he's entertaining as fuck. Plus, he's a charismatic dude, like when he's up there, he's entertaining as fuck. Plus, he's a charismatic dude, like, when he's up there, he's doing his job. They're asking him questions. He's fucking doing his job for the promotion. So I can only hope that the promotion is going to put him on a fucking main card. He's going to do his thing and win or lose in BKFC. It's all about entertainment. All about entertainment. So you just got to hang in there and fucking bang.
Speaker 2And all about entertainment, so you just got to hang in there and fucking bang, and I think jeremy's perfect for that. Yeah, well, you know, and I didn't realize uh like how much, uh, leonard, I knew leonard helped them. They're good friends. But, like you know, he's like man leonard got me out here. Bro, leonard vouched for me. I was like damn, that's crazy. Like I knew they were good friends and all that and I knew he kind of probably helped him. But he gives a lot to you know, he doesn't forget where he's coming from, bro, that's what I like about it. Like he's always like, hey, man Leonard did this for me and that's great, because it's like you know, that's good to show somebody help, bro, like I like stuff like that, like people like that are loyal, bro, I like that stuff.
Speaker 1Leonard's a great guy and we, of course, we're going to always be loyal to good friends with leonard. He supports us, we support him and uh, yeah, unfortunately for him, fucking diego sanchez is a dipshit and uh, he got in trouble, so I don't know where that fight is gonna be or where that fight's gonna gonna materialize. That would have been so good. Oh man, it could possibly happen, but it could it could, but it was, that would have been.
Speaker 2That would have been a good one, bro, I don't see. It's really cool too, is that we haven't? I don't think we spoke about this yet, but it's cool that we have two guys man one coming up, still one's winning in the ranks, yeah and a champion man Bro, we got a champion bro, we got a champ bro. And now you know, like on the video, when you see us walk in you. Honestly, we actually talked to Leonard before that but we kind of were like starstruck.
Speaker 2We walked in and then all of a sudden he's right there with his wife and everybody. I was like oh dang. So we like said hi, and then we're like let's go ahead and mic up, and then we'll do something.
Speaker 1Yeah, we had to do that, but we spoke to him just to see. We wanted to see hey, you know what time or what we wanted to be. We were able to catch some of it. But it's an amazing thing, right, that BKFC gave him the belt he deserved, the belt that he earned. But, like he said, he won in Mexico, it didn't translate to the United States, so that's where that belt came from. And I mean the fight, basically, feldman said that the fucking fight was basically there to be made with diego, but unfortunately we're talking about diego sanchez. Uh, but unfortunately, diego sanchez got into some legal fucking problems.
Speaker 1um, and I won't go into those whatever you can allegedly you can uh, you can read up on those if it interests you, right? But for us the interesting thing is that west texas is on the fucking map, man, um, and texas is on the map now for bkfc. If they come back, we're definitely going to be fucking present, for sure, and I think we did a good enough job that, uh, media passes should not be as as difficult to get, um, I think I think we did a good job for the event and pushing it. And if jeremy was the most watched, we haven't looked and pushing it. And if Jeremy was the most watched, we haven't looked at the stats, right, but if he was the most watched, I'd like to think that the Patch Boys had a hand in that. So, yeah, man, we look forward to it and following Jeremy's career all the way through until it's done. And, of course, leonard, we've been following him forever right and you know what.
Speaker 2That podcast came out really well with Ruben and him following them forever, right, and you know what?
Speaker 2that podcast came out really well, like, uh, with ruben and him and yeah, and the way it came out with the leonard on the zoom, like I I didn't know, it was kind of like man, I just didn't know because we never really done four and then swapped it out and went to straight zoom. So yeah, and when we did that and then the video, I was like I don't know what's gonna happen, but it went really well. Dude, I was like man, I love that dude. And uh, leonard, I mean it was just cool to even see him again. We got to get him back in.
Speaker 1I mean he, we talked to him a lot, but I think we gotta literally really have to honestly get him in and yeah, honestly, I'm waiting for that fight announcement and we're gonna do everything to push that fight because I know it's gonna be a badass fight. So let's hope that fight still gets announced. And uh, yeah, man, we're. We're gonna be right there with leonard, and if j Jeremy decides to fight on that card too which would only be fitting we're going to be all over it. So, man, it was just an amazing event and everything, and I'm glad that we got to talk about it.
Speaker 2And I think next time man, hopefully next time we can get three media passes. Maybe we can ask.
Speaker 1Leonard about that. Yeah, we definitely need a cameraman.
Speaker 2Yeah, that would be so much better because, like you know, like, uh, that was kind of like, threw us me, at least threw me off, was it never? We're recording and then we go to the press box, like I, I watch some fights, but I can't watch all of them because we're kind of I'm everywhere you know, I'm controlling stuff and I'm like so next time I think we're gonna be.
Speaker 2I know we both are gonna be like hey, we know what's going on, this is what we're doing and, uh, we're gonna have them questions coming out ready to go.
Travel Tales & Flying Fears
Speaker 1Yeah, and that's what I want, man, I want to have. So the plan was to have four ask for four and it would have been fine. It's not, you know, there wasn't a crazy amount of press, but I think, yeah, the post-fight press conference it was a little tight, so maybe that was their thoughts, but I think, hopefully they will give us that um, you know, that luxury of having at least one other person, and it will make the content so much smoother, so much cleaner, um, and that we'll get better microphones, the whole. We're, we're ready for it. We're basically ready for it. Like you said, it's, it's, that was. You could call it a practice run, whatever you want to call it Um, but man, it was. It was an amazing experience, the first one. So we're growing with the company.
Speaker 1Hopefully. You know what I mean. They get bigger, we get bigger and we made some connections there with some of the media guys that are there that know what they're doing, and I studied up on you know their interview process and what they're doing. So, hopefully, up on you know their interview process and what they're doing. So I uh, hopefully it'll. The next one will just be better. So, but, like I said, that's we're gonna branch out into something so that if you want that content, that's the content you you get. If you want our, our different, you know podcast content, you can see that. So, yeah, I think we'll still put the audio on.
Speaker 2The video is going to be on both, but but it's going to be. We're going to have a separate for that too. So yeah, we're going to work around it. It's just like a I don't know, it's just something we're looking at, it's something different, right, so it's like.
Speaker 2But I mean, I think for us for sure, when we were like uh recording, it was just cool, like to uh walk around and the way bkfc did was really it was really laid back really cool man, like you know what I mean Walking around and just like talking. And then you know what, we talked to Chupacabra TV and then we talked to story of the fight. So the fight was cool guy, uh, very, he came out to us really nice and uh, chicago Chupacabra TV man, that guy was really cool too. And one thing that his suits asked him that I thought, and he asked them. He said, why aren't any of these other people talking to the fighters? And what he said was that they're scared to talk to them. And he was like you know us, he's like, man, it's nothing to us he's like, and I think he used to fight too out of Florida.
Speaker 2He said yeah, with the Yoy Romero. He said right and that was pretty awesome. But you know he mentioned Asus and me, but mostly Asus. I mean that dude just goes out there and talks, bro, he gets it done. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1Yeah, you kind of have to push through that shit and I think we have a good combination with Ricky and myself. So, man, I just see bigger and better things.
Speaker 2Yeah, and you know, like sometimes the content, like we do like that it's cool and we really don't do it for us, we do it for y'all, like you know what I'm saying, Because I'm not going to lie to you Like it's a little overwhelming sometimes. You know what I mean.
Speaker 1And we missed a lot of moments in fights.
Speaker 1I can tell you that we did take a couple fights, the ones that we really, really wanted to watch, just to watch, watch them, um and uh, we took a look. I mean, ricky took some content while we were, they were there, I had the audio on stuff like that but uh, for the most part, we we did try to enjoy ourselves while doing it, because if you, you don't want to be fucking miserable, I saw, let me tell you, I saw some fucking media guys that were miserable in that fucking place, and that's not us, man, we want to be having a good time. Part of it is part of it is us having a good time while we do it, so that it translates to the content that we're giving you guys.
Speaker 2Yeah, man, you know I didn't realize it, but what was DeLeon that fighter? I can't remember his first name. Deleon man, that dude had a crap load of followers. I didn't even know, dude, I was like dang.
Speaker 1Delano, delano.
Speaker 2Delano bro. Yeah, dude, I was like damn dude.
Speaker 1Yeah, he's a social media star because of his professional bull riding and he does, of course, social media attached to that. But yeah, he's big man and he actually wants to fight Bryce Hall or whatever the fuck his name is Bryce Hall yeah, and he called him out, so that would be an amazing fight. Just honestly.
Speaker 1I want to watch Bryce get his fucking face punched in. Cameron Delano is a fucking awesome dude. He gave us a fucking interview and he was fucking amazing. Yeah, man, it was great. He's one of those guys that he just likes to fight. He doesn't have any previous fucking uh, a bunch of fucking previous experience and things like that. He likes to fucking fight and he showed it. Um, and that's I.
Speaker 1I'm sure he's gonna be a star in bkfc and him and jeremy like that's why I was saying, like these guys coming up are are now coming up fighting bare knuckle, so it looks different than someone like andre arlovsky. You see, andre arlovsky and he got a lot of shit for the way he fought. Why? Because he's a fucking mma fighter his whole life. He he likes to brawl, yeah, but in the mma, so he still jabs a lot, he jabs out a lot, he moves a lot and people here want to see motherfuckers toe the line and fucking beat the shit out of each other, yeah, and so he got a little bit of shit, but I thought he had an amazing fight.
Speaker 1He did what he was supposed to do. He beat the shit out of the guy. Um, and so him, and if you go back now, you can go back and watch him versus ben rothwell in the ufc fucking great fight, and now they might go at it. It looks like they're gonna go at it, but andre does want to take one more fight. He wants to basically prepare himself to put on a show with ben rothwell, right, uh, because ben rothwell is already any fucking fight you see with big ben like he's a fucking monster that was so cool.
Speaker 2You walked in, you're like there's been, yeah, I was like, oh, like, and we walked up to him and I was like man, I and you know what's funny is that you know like how I get like. My head was just running, bro, and I didn't even. I walked probably right by him, didn't even notice it he was chilling by himself like it was crazy.
Speaker 1He's just like yeah, I was like, oh yeah, we got to talk to that man, dude man that was such a cool dude man, yeah, he's, he's awesome dude and then that little guy can't remember his name right now.
Speaker 2I met him in the restroom that dude was busted, bro, and I put him on the. I got a photo of him on there.
Speaker 1It's so different, bro, it's so fucking different in bkfc, like all the fighters were just fucking walking around, beat to shit. We were buying them beers and shit. They were drinking with us, like it was. It's a different atmosphere and you know, like Ruben said when he was here, um, he was like it's a different atmosphere, for sure, and he was right, it was a different atmosphere and it was. It was a great atmosphere. It was fucking.
Speaker 2Yeah, it was awesome it was, it was cool man, it was, it was a great time. Uh, and you're right, though, like they they hang out, like they're just. Yeah, like I'm telling you, bro, like I went to the restaurant restaurant take a piss, and this guy's right there beside me, I'm like this guy looks like he's got a fight and he did he had blood literally on his shirt and he was talking about how you know, he was supposed to fight, uh for, um, what's his name?
Speaker 2uh, the one I said was gonna fight. Uh, can't think of the name right now, but, um, I'll think of it in a sec, but he was the one from lubbock took his spot. So I don't know what happened with that, but I was like dang dude. So yeah, that's why and he was like dude that dude walked in like 30 pounds heavier. I was like damn, he was bad bro, but he's taking photos, the boy's loving it bro.
Speaker 1Yeah man, the event was first class.
Speaker 2Like it was amazing, and also, too, it was nice to like see everybody there hanging out bro, and then we come back and forth. You know what I mean.
Speaker 1But you're right though it's work. It is.
Speaker 2It's not like you know, for there it looks like we're just you know You're fucking hanging out, but really it's a lot of like me like gary fox was there.
Speaker 1So gary fox is a uk champion, right? Uh? And gary fox was there for like fucking two hours during the event with his championship belt on his fucking arm, and we couldn't make him out. Dude, we could not make him out. And the reason why is because he's a uk champion, so we're not used to seeing his face. So we were like, fuck man, we want to talk to him, but I don't know who the fuck he is like. We know he's a champion, but, yes, it was gary fox, the bkfc uk champion, um one of them. And so, uh, he, gary fox, is actually the one pushing to fight Kai.
Speaker 2So many names, man? That's the thing.
Speaker 1Yeah, I'm sorry, I just lost his last name.
Speaker 2We will tell you this man, we got guys that we like and we watch them and we know some of the fighters, but there's so many that come in and out of the BKFC and then it's so kind of fresh, like new. Sometimes you kind of forget names. Kai Stewart.
Speaker 1I'm sorry, I was gonna say that, but I didn't know. Yeah, I'm sorry.
Speaker 2I'm sorry, king kai, he's one of my favorite kfc, so I should know, but I always just say king kai right, but I think he follows us.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, of course we. We interviewed him. Amazing interview. I wanted to keep it real short and you know, uh, um lively, because he was, he was getting interviewed like fucking crazy. So, uh, but he's a character man and that guy turns it on, boom, turns it on, and he had his get up on. So I wanted to ask him about that. But you know, kai stewart's fucking amazing and gary fox actually wants to fight kai stewart. They're both there with their belts, but gary fox is a uk champion, kai stewart's the american champion. Um, so, and I think we going to see that fight here pretty soon or whatever, and they're both fucking monsters, dude. So it's going to be amazing.
Speaker 2Hell yeah, that's crazy man.
Speaker 1We've just been so busy with the trips stuff going on like that it's summertime, we're dads, and it's summertime and the kiddos want to do shit and we've been busy with that and then work, you know, or you, you got to get, you got to get after it when, while you can, right, especially right now in the market that we're in, uh, so yeah, that's why you know that's why I go to, you know, north dakota.
Speaker 2Man, we had some opportunities to go to that pack out thing, but it just didn't work out too well. Uh, you know, work, everybody's taking vacay and then you got to work too. So I got to be going out to north dakota and, uh, you know, when I went out the last time, I just flew, boom, boom, flew that day, worked that night, yeah, and then, uh, you know, stayed a little longer, but uh, it's really nice out there north dakota. They're playing right, ain't gonna lie to you guys. Uh, playing rides a little tight. It's only two, two seats on each side. It's like, uh, you know, like four seats a row, pretty much, and uh, it's, uh, it's not bad. It's an hour and a half over there to Denver and then another hour and a half to North Dakota. Really, yeah, it's not bad bro.
Speaker 1Three-hour fucking, technically three-hour flight time.
Speaker 2Yeah, but there's like a layover hour or so.
Speaker 1Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2But it's not bad. Like I'm telling you. I left Midland at 1. No-transcript cigarettes and beer bro and uh, he was drinking, I guess, there, because he was like, uh, I gotta go piss. Bro like, woke me up and shit and went over there and he's like man, I've been drinking since early. Damn bro like, and I could smell it.
Speaker 1I just smelled.
Speaker 2Them smell like post malone and shit. I saw, yeah, but like cigarettes, yeah, bro, and I was like damn dude. So that first one was a little rough, but and then, like the plane started getting weird and I was like you know, I'm not afraid, I'm not scared of stuff like that but I'm scared, I'm scared.
Speaker 2I know you are death of that shit'm not, but it was like it was a little turbulence and I told that guy I was looking around like man, nobody freaking out or nothing. And I looked at this guy I said, hey, bro, is this normal? He's like yeah, man, you're good. I was like, oh, I was freaking sweating bullets.
Speaker 1So the one thing I will say about myself now with flying is that I've only places so el paso, las vegas, oakland uh, fucking, of course, here to houston and whatever. Wherever I've flown to florida it's been windy, so I always get this. I always get this leaving, coming whatever, and especially happens in midland a lot. Yeah, when you come, when you start, you know, uh, descending, like you can always feel the plane doing this and whatever it is the wind. And I see people who are lifetime flyers, not like me, every once in a while for business, for whatever I have to do. These motherfuckers are lifetime flyers and they're like I was shitting bricks.
Speaker 1I was like, really, he's like yeah, yeah, like I've never felt turbulence like that. I've only ridden in big planes and and, and we never get wind like that. I was like, hmm, I've felt it every fucking plane. So now, when it happens, I'm like, no, this ain't shit, it doesn't bother me. And other people are like, fucking, what the fuck? Don't get me wrong, I'm still putting holes in the fucking seat in front of me with my fingers, but it doesn't, that particular stuff don't bother me. There is times with these fucking I don't know if it's a pilot or autopilot or what, when you lose, like fucking, however many feet in one go? Yeah, like that shit is not.
Speaker 2That shit sucks, dude yeah, I mean, I felt just a little bit and it was ready, but I take the motion sickness medicine. Oh, you do? Yeah, because the first of my food to houston I felt like that in a little plane I got really like motion sickness yeah, and I got it one time in the back of a fragman and I and that was for sure to happen all the time.
Speaker 2But it's weird, but but anyways, yeah that plane. So when I before I went on, I bought some of that stuff and then I took it and then I did it the whole way. Man, I was like I'm not Dramamine, I didn't want to be sick, bro, so I took it both times.
Speaker 1It's fucking crazy. I essentially grew out of that shit yeah.
Speaker 2I didn't chance it.
Speaker 1It's crazy. In Mexico, when we're talking about riding buses, we rode buses all the fucking time, right? So, just like we were talking about my primo Alfonso, we rode buses all the time and buses sway, yeah, all the time. And so people get really motion sick. When I was a kid, I got motion sick every fucking trip. I would puke every time, yeah and um, yeah, like now I could ride buses, boats. I don't know if that shit like prepared me for whatever the fuck buses, boats, planes, you fucking name it.
Speaker 2I never get sick, well you know, I've never got on a on a boat, I never had it on a boat or anything else, but for some reason, the back of a frack van, yeah, bro, every time, bro, it was so weird and I don't know, I don't know what it was. It was like I could sit in the back or the front. I was still gonna walk out of there with a little weird yeah but that was the only time.
Speaker 2Frack vans and a damn airplane. Small airplanes, big airplanes, don't bother me. I flew to, I flew to vegas. It wasn't a big deal, yeah, but the small ones really got me, bro, I was, and I remember from houston that little sucker.
Speaker 1I was feeling it bro everybody says yeah, man, the big planes, you don't feel shit. I've never been on a fucking big plane yeah I've only been on the three, twos, oh yeah, so five seaters I got that's those. That's the normal plane for me.
Speaker 2So I feel everything, yeah, all the time Well you know, and whenever I went to Houston, bro, that was probably the worst experience of my life. I mean, it was a whole new job peak guy crying by the building I was going to start working at, I ripped my pants walking out of the damn airplane. You know they caught the seat and then my pants ripped. You know it was horrible, bro, I don't know. But you know was horrible, bro, I don't know, but you know. So I was really nervous about this flight because I don't like last minute stuff and it was very last minute.
Speaker 2And then I'm like, did I pack enough? And then I'm wearing steel toe boots. I'm like, doc, I can't put these in my damn bag, so like. And then when I'm leaving, I end up having to get patted down by this guy, bro, because, yeah, for some reason all these sensors went off on me. I'm like what the like? Dude, I'm wearing the same clothes. I flew over here. And like, why?
Speaker 2is this going off now. Anyways, the guy stands in front of me, so buff dude. He's like, hey, uh, I'm gonna do this and that, and I feel I just shut him up like hey, bro, just get started, bro.
Speaker 1Yeah let's just get this.
Speaker 2You know what I mean I got 20 people behind me watching me get patted down. I don't give a damn, let's just let's just get it going bro like yeah, yeah, I ain't gonna sue you. I promise, wand me up, baby. Yeah, no, this dude had to do a thorough hand search on me, like oh he was, and he's like I'm gonna put my hands on the back end.
Speaker 1I would be like make sure you check the cheeks. You know what I'm saying. He did, but they go like this yeah, the back of their hands and shit.
Speaker 2I'm like how are you even gonna feel for?
Speaker 1hand. I'm surprised he didn't try to slip a finger. He hit you with the hot dog dog. You know what I'm saying. He didn't tell me.
Speaker 2If you don't feel comfortable, we can go privately. I'm like nah, let's just get this.
Speaker 1Nah, fuck that's worse Big fucking dude. Burly dude like come on, let's go to the back room. Fuck that dude.
Speaker 2Do it here in front of everybody, so they can see what's going on.
Speaker 1I was like room they start imagining him kissing your neck and shit dude, yeah see that that's what I was worried about, and then you can't do nothing.
Speaker 2The man has a little authority on him.
Speaker 1You know what I'm saying? He's gonna give you that creepy joe biden smell motherfucker or like on uh, what is that movie?
Speaker 2dumb and dumber. When that dude's in the restroom, he's all like catches him in the restroom, he's like no you don't know that part. Yeah, I know what you're talking about simon will be here at this time. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, I didn't realize that scene was the same guy till later. I didn't realize I was the same guy from the whole the restaurant that they have messed over oh, the big guy yeah, that one, that.
Speaker 2He's the one that came to the restroom that night, the big burly guy yeah, so the one that they put the peppers in and he fucking started choking. The ones they screwed over, like he's got the tab and remember. And they like leave. He's like the one that they put the peppers in and he fucking started choking. No, the ones they screwed over, like he's got the tab and remember. When they leave, he's like the one that was picking on them and he goes up to him and grabs his brother and he spits on him.
Speaker 1Oh, because he said he was going to give him a beer, yeah, and he's like they got the tab and he's like, yeah, that dude, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh, really.
Speaker 2Yeah, I didn't know that. I had no idea. So when he kicks the door in, he's like be here at this time. He notices the time and then the door kicks in. It's that dude from the damn.
Speaker 1Oh, okay.
Speaker 2Yeah, bro, I did not know that until later. I had no idea. That's pretty wild. You know what I'm saying, so it was crazy man.
