Schedule Chaos And Guest Plans

SPEAKER_00

Titan Sales and Services uh is one of our new sponsors. They're a relatively new company, so we want to back them up like they're backing us up. Uh they're running out of Crane, Texas, and some of the stuff that they have available is uh Russ About maintenance and construction crews, uh, trash trailers, porta potties, combo trailers, forklifts, and they're adding new services and rentals every day. Uh so give those guys a call at 432-307-1960. Hey, what's up, everybody? Patch Boys. I'm back again. Uh just gonna be me and Rick this week. It's uh man, it's been it's we we wanted to talk about how crazy it's been because uh man, we, you know, between between surgeries and work and everything going on in our lives, our our schedule's been pretty crazy and pretty volatile. So hopefully you guys, you know, are are uh you know subscribed or you guys are following us on Instagram, Facebook, uh, and TikTok or something, so that you see when these episodes are coming out. Um because yeah, it's been a little been a little bit crazy to be honest. You know, my wife had surgery, uh Rick's been traveling for work. Um it's been it's been a crazy time uh here lately. So uh, you know, hang in there with us. We are gonna have some more people on. We do plan on having more guests on. We have a list of guests that we want to get on. It's just been a slow go of things, and because the schedule's so volatile, you know, asking people to be here on our schedule is a little bit difficult.

SPEAKER_01

But you know, and it's kind of like stressful. I tell people that all the time, like, man, it's uh it's hard to, it's hard to like, it's not hard getting people on, it's hard us working, like you said, and then it's like and then it's like man, sometimes things change last minute. Like a lot of times it happens. So yeah, then I feel bad. I'm like, hey, bro, like not today, baby.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think you know, thankfully we were able to get Carlos because it's an impromptu kind of guest. Uh, but it was cool having them on. We had a great conversation and it was, you know, just like a a bro conversation and it was a good time, you know what I mean? Uh, but we got some guests definitely that are gonna come in that I think you guys are gonna enjoy. So just hang tight with us and and we're gonna keep we're gonna keep it rolling. It's just uh man, it's been it's been it's been hard these last couple months.

SPEAKER_01

And honestly, like I think we could do like zooms, but yeah, and we've done one like that, but I think I just feel like the audio, like the like the I don't know, the quality everything. Like it's just not as genuine as us being in here talking about. And uh I think that's you know, that's kind of where it's at because we could do that. I mean, I could zoom this guy driving and we could work out a whole hour, you know, easy, but it's just not the same, and it's probably not safe, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00

So but uh so I mean we're we're trying to put the best out for you guys and and try to keep as consistent as possible. So, you know, bear with us, follow us on all the platforms, and uh and when we announce an episode, just be sure it's gonna come out soon. Typically, it comes out the next the following Monday from the when we we let you know that an episode's coming out, right? So, man, we do appreciate all you guys sticking with us, the people that are listening. I appreciate that.

SPEAKER_01

You know, uh Carlos, man, and Carlos episode did pretty well. Like, I was uh looking at the downloads on you know, just uh audio-wise, like, damn, this guy, it's uh it was pretty good. Like, it was fun, you know.

SPEAKER_00

It was kind of a layback episode, and we got to just yeah, shoot the shit with somebody that we knew from the past and you know, reminisce a little on the bullshit. Can't reminisce on everything because we were fucking terrible back then. Yeah, but uh but uh yeah, it was cool. It was good to see him and good to you know chop it up with him. Um and yeah, that was fun, man.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I got a I have a but I should be dropping a reel this week and another one about the whole safety like our guy with us, you know. Yeah, dude. So I'm I should be dropping that today, man. I was it's funny because I re-watch these things and then it makes me laugh because you know, especially when you're like the French guy, I don't know, man. It's just like you're that French guy, and I'll just I don't know. It just made me it's just like I'll I'll watch these things and I re-laugh all over again.

SPEAKER_00

We're just shooting the shit and it's it's a good time for us. Those are those are the most fun podcasts that we do because sometimes like you know, we we have a guest or something and we we we tighten up, right? We gotta tighten up because you know it's it's it's something that we have that we take pride in, and uh, you know, when we got friends and shit, like they they don't judge us in that way, like our professionalism or any of that shit, and we can you know just have a good time, yeah. So that's always cool, man.

SPEAKER_02

But for sure, yeah, man.

Project Hail Mary Book Vs Movie

SPEAKER_00

So nah, it's been good. So we appreciate all the listeners and uh man, this let's get right into this episode, man. I have one real big thing that I wanted to talk about because it was like my feelings are still hurt, bro. So my feelings are hurt because no is not the war, no is not the gas prices, no it's not all that shit. The biggest problem that I have is a movie that I went to go watch, man. So Project Hail Mary came out, right? We went, we got tickets, and we saw literally the the day it was released, the pre-screenings or whatever, it's like Wednesday, and then Thursday, it's a full release, right? So we went to go watch it Wednesday. I was like, I can't wait for it, whatever. So when Erica got sick, um, and for anybody who doesn't know, my wife had her gallbladder removed. She it was, you know, it's typical for a woman that's that's had more than one child or whatever, um, and she yeah, she needed it removed, so we had an emergency style fucking issue and drove to San Angelo, and on the way to San Angelo, because you know we wanted to keep it cool and calm and whatever, it's already the evening, it's getting dark, so it sets the stage, bro. And she's like, You want to listen to this audiobook or whatever? It's we're not gonna listen to any music or anything. I'm like, Yeah. So she's like, It's Project Hail Mary. Um, I was like, cool, it sounds sounds cool. Let's fucking just walk, let's listen to it. As soon as I got in that shit, I was hooked. Hooked. But the problem is I went ahead and literally up to the movie, I was on the last chapter. So I put my earbuds in and I listened to the last chapter literally as we're getting ready, going, dropping off the kids, going. Yeah, I was listening to the last chapter, bro. And uh, and uh we got there and like the end for me was like very emotional, it was like an emotional ending, you know what I mean? And I'm like, damn man, that was so good. I was like, you're gonna love it. Because Erica didn't. Erica only listened to the very beginning, and then she she she stopped listening to it. I'm I'm the big science fiction guy, right? I love that and I loved how um, and I'm not gonna do any spoiler alerts, but I loved how it was narrated, like it was spot on, bro. So we go out go to the movies and we start watching it, and right off the bat, bro, I'm like, fuck. This is gonna disappoint me so bad. And it's funny because I have never done that. Typically, the movies that I go watch, if I've read a book on it or whatever, I don't go. I don't it doesn't it's not appealing to me. But I had to talk to Erica because she's done the last two movies she's seen, she's read the book for. And so I told her, I was like, how does that not affect you? Is that does it not affect you when you go to the movies? Because we love movies much more than I love reading or listening to a book or whatever the fuck. I love movies. I'm like, fuck reading as long as I can watch movies, right? And uh she's opposite, she's a book reader, and she's like, nah, I think it's better. It just like enhances the very so she was fed me all this bullshit, bro. And I'm like, and I finish that book because I want that, I want to feel that enhancement, you know what I'm saying? And then I fucking get there and I watch the fucking movie, dude. And I'm upset with it because I feel like from the book to the movie, you could have easily busted out Gangs from New York style. Do two discs, you know what I'm saying? Not two discs anymore. Sorry for sorry for all the fucking young people, right? But you do uh two sets, two movies, something like Dune style, you know what I'm saying? Like where you know it's like one continuous story, but the movies are just fucking popping off, right? And they're super long. That's what that's what that book deserved. That fucking Project Hail Mary book deserved like three fucking movies at different times it don't matter, but tell the story the way the book laid it out, and easily you go three movies, no fucking problem. And there's very good parts in the book where you can like stop it. Okay, and then it goes into another section. Almost like a series in a way. A series, right? Yeah, a series would have been way better for Project Hail Mary.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Not to say that, not to say that the movie wasn't good. That's the problem too, is that Eric was like, man, that movie was good, and I was like, fuck. I was like, I know if I had not read it, I would be just as excited. So it yeah, man. So I will not be doing that shit again, but I will say, if you get a chance to listen, fuck reading it, listen to the Audible book on Project Hail Mary, it'll change you. Yeah. It's an amazing fucking narrated story. Like the the person who narrated it does like ten different voices and he does them well to where you don't ever have to wonder who's that or what. Like sometimes when a person's like narrating and they're doing voices for stuff, they like sometimes it just kind of like the voice just starts to sound the same. Not this guy. And I don't remember his fucking name, but I'll give him his props, you know, at at some point. But it was such a good narrated book. If you can get it on Audible, listen to that motherfucker, you'll love it, bro.

SPEAKER_01

Really? You will be able to do it. I remember you mentioned it to me when I was on my way to Colorado.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but maybe just fucking watch the movie first, and then listen to the book.

SPEAKER_01

So you you're actually one of those guys now, like the you know, the guys that are like the people that are like, the book was way better than this.

SPEAKER_00

You know what I mean? Man, and I hate that for myself, right? But for this particular one, like you just and I thought to myself, I was like, Man, maybe I'll start reading the Dune series.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But if I do that shit and it ruins Dune, yeah, someone's gonna pay for it.

SPEAKER_01

Well, because all I know is that Dune is from the movie, right? Like it's just like Game of Thrones or uh Harry Potter.

SPEAKER_00

I never read the Harry Potter movie, and like the interpretations because the original Dune movie, like, yeah, they took some stuff from the original Dune movie, but it was different. Yeah, it was way different. And so, like, now you have the interpretation of the original Dune movie, this new Dune series that we're going through right now, which the movie comes out in December, and it looks fucking phenomenal, bro. Anybody out there who has a problem with Timothy Chalamet, hey, fuck you, brother. Like, like Timothy Chalamet, bro, is a G, bro. And then the other day, I mean, which kind of sealed it for me, and I don't give a fuck about his politics, I don't give a fuck who he's dating, I don't give a fuck about none of that shit. Strictly as an artist, yeah, the guy's funny. He does his thing as an actor, you know what I'm saying? Uh, he seems like a decently humble guy. The Kardashians are probably gonna change that. He's fucking he's probably gonna go crazy. He's dating with Kylie now.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think I saw that.

SPEAKER_00

He'd been dating Kylie anyway. But it's funny because uh I saw the other day I was going through his shit, um, and he it just sealed it up for me, right? Cause he was like doing some fucking voiceover. You know how they do the TikToks and they have the songs and he does the voiceover. They do you do the voiceover or whatever? He was doing one in France, and uh he had head-to-toe his full fucking raider gear on. Damn. Like head-to-toe raider gear. It was fucking you like them. No, I mean, I liked them before, but now I'll kiss that motherfucker in the mouth.

SPEAKER_01

That shit was funny whenever you told uh Carlos, join the raid raiders and all that stuff, and then you said raid. Yeah, yeah, and then I was like, no, man, this guy's thinking about it. Real Raiders, yeah. That was funny. But that's crazy though, man. I mean, you know, I liked I've always wanted to do that because I love movies a lot, but I've never actually put the time in to read a whole novel or chat. You know what I'm saying? Like it's same here. Twilight. I love Twilight, but yeah, I never cracked no Twilight book open. You know what I'm saying? And it's gonna fuck you up too, I guarantee it. I might change music to Team Edward. Yeah, you never know. You never know, bro.

SPEAKER_00

It's it's read from the book, and it's so much detail. That's what's beautiful about Project Hell Mary from the book. It has a lot of science, a lot of physics, right? They're explaining bit by bit by bit by bit by bit. I know I had one chapter where they were literally just explaining atmosphere.

SPEAKER_01

Damn.

Allergies Sandstorms And Weather Whiplash

SPEAKER_00

And the pressure and the temperature and what atmosphere does to us depending on the change, stuff like that, man, and like climatology. Damn. Insane on there, insane on there, which actually we should read about because the fucking climate we're going through right now is killing me. Oh, that was you can hear me. I'm fucked, bro. Like, and I can't, I've been popping Zyrtek like fucking MMs, bro. And it's not helping. I'm gonna have to go and switch up and try fucking Claritin or something to try to help me because it just destroyed me. And then every other day, a fucking sandstorm, and my sinuses can't take it anymore. Like, this is this is a this is a volatile last fucking couple weeks.

Road Trips And Sudden Climate Changes

SPEAKER_01

Well, you know, and I thought it was weird too, because I drove up to I was in Oklahoma last night or yesterday, and and I got you know, yesterday morning, I'm like, damn, it's cold, it's windy, and I'm like, bro, was it like this yesterday? Like, no, it was hot. I'm like, oh, so it's not just us getting this crazy stuff, you know what I mean? Like, but you know, whenever I went to uh Colorado last time and uh I was driving up there, that's when I got hit with that free storm, bro. I don't know where it you were talking about it. Snowflakes coming, the next thing you know, I'm like, I don't even know how I got in this. Yeah, everything's frozen, bro. Honestly, my foot was killing me because I wasn't using control. Uh cruise control. Cruise control. So you were just oh man, it was, and I'm telling you, 16 hours on the road that whole day. I was like a damn truck driver. Damn, man. And I was and I was done, bro. I was beat, try, stress. I mean, it was just crazy. I know I mentioned a little bit of it, but it was just really like horrible. Like, yeah, I honestly I feel like I should have made like a reel out of it because I recorded a lot of stuff, but I was like, Yeah, man, I it was just like it was just I never seen so many cars. Just clear, and then you that that and then the semis, cars out, uh accidents, and I was like, what am I doing here, bro? Like, you know what I mean? Like, what the heck, dude? Like, yeah, it was wild, man. But yeah, like it's just like the the stuff like that changing so fast, you're like, yeah, and I'm just like I'm just in Texas, bro. I left Texas with a car hard shirt on, short shorts, yeah, and I'm flying in and it's freaking freezing out here, and I got snowflakes full. I'm like, what the and it's so wild because you could drive 12 hours from Texas and you're gonna get a whole new climate, bro.

SPEAKER_00

It's crazy, bro.

SPEAKER_01

You know, it blows you blows me away. Like, I don't people don't realize it. Like, I mean, I know Texas is big, but like it's huge. You give yourself 16 hours in a day, you can drive a lot of places in this country. Oh, a lot of people don't really people think it's too much. But man, you get in that road and you get them 1216, you'll be you'll be in Wyoming, bro. You don't even know it.

SPEAKER_00

It's 16 to California.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Well, I ain't going that way, but I'll go.

SPEAKER_00

You know, Aubrey was like Florida's a little bit longer, you know what I mean? Because you want to go if you want to go to the like Miami and shit.

SPEAKER_01

But hell, you could drive maybe 18 and get B in R 618, and I think you'll be already at the state line of Florida. Uh-huh. And then you go through a lot of nice area, bro. Like, oh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And I heard that drive is pretty decent. It is.

SPEAKER_01

You just got to get through Texas, bro. Texas is the hardest.

Tolls ETA Pressure And Route Choices

SPEAKER_00

My cousin, my cousin Alfonso's been like, man, you need to come to South Carolina. And so, like, I'm thinking about it because I mean, like you said, uh, I can drive it. It's not, it's not that much of an issue. You give yourself a week, you know what I mean? You get there. I I always go everywhere at 3 a.m. They get in the car, everybody's fucking asleep, and I'm blazing, so at least 12 hours, like it's a it's a relaxed time because they don't feel it that much when they're sleeping, you know. And I and for me, it ain't shit. You know, I'll I'll fucking do a little snuss and dip a little bit or something, and I'm fucking gone, baby.

SPEAKER_01

Give me that nicotine. And honestly, it's like the hardest part of things sometimes is just finding the the route that works best for you. Because like sometimes when G the Google Maps and all that, they'll they'll they'll mess with you. Like, you'll you got a route planned out and then they'll change on you, and you're like, bro.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, there's uh there's traffic here, so we're gonna move you this way, and you're like in the middle of the fucking nowhere.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, little county roads going 45 and that, bro, and I'm blowing through them. Like, I'm like, I'm about to get a ticket because you guys. So, like, once you found that little nice road and you kick, I love catching interstates. Like, my job gets mad at me because so they had like toll ways, and I was like, hey bro, y'all didn't have a problem when I got there on time. Yeah, and they're like, Well, you know, it's uh, you know, and I'm like, bro, I'm gonna tell you right now, if I'm putting hauling a little trailer or like and I gotta be there at a time, and I'm the one putting in 18 hours a day. Oh, you best believe I'm driving through some tolls, baby. Fucking right. Because it's like it's too much, that's too much. Like, I'm not fighting traffic, especially in Denver. Like, Denver's so nice, but I'm like And the tolls fucking worth it, really.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it is. Especially we're trying to be somewhere at a specific time, the toll's worth it. The toll's worth it. Now, if you're like, let's just fuck around and maybe we'll go over there, maybe this is like it's a very open-ended fucking deal. Yeah, yeah, sure. Fucking find another route and fuck around and whatever. But if you gotta be somewhere on time, shit, you need to know your ETA. Like, I know in this business, everybody's like, Who's a fucking ETA? Yeah, we're the ETA, I gotta know now because I gotta plan my. So if you're trying to give somebody an ETA and you're like, well, I gotta take this back row, I don't know if it's gonna take me an hour or two. Yeah, so like that fucks things up, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it does, man. And that's why I'm like, you know, I I'm like, bro, if I got if I'm the one driving it, I'm sorry, but y'all are paying the tolls, baby. Like, like just I took a total to uh just to Oklahoma, like Chickasaw. I was like, it was 80 miles an hour. I'm like, bro, like I'm sorry, but this is just way easier. Like, I'm not going this little road and I'm driving 65, like, nah, hell.

SPEAKER_00

There's a reason why you pay for that. It's like it's the same shit. Like, hey, you fucking run out of milk at fucking 10 p.m. You're going to a convenience store and you're gonna pay more, motherfucker, but it's convenient. Yeah, that's the whole point. Convenience store, you're gonna pay more, you're paying for the convenience. It's the same shit with a toll road. It's convenient. That's why they pay, that's why you have to pay for it.

Midland Prices And Small Town Costs

SPEAKER_01

And you know what gets out of my nerves? It's like, you know, you know, I buy like a lot of stuff everywhere. So and I use and I'm not I'm a guy that buys the same things all the time, so I don't really change what I eat. But I'll go from here to say Oklahoma, like recently. I went to the uh McAllister's there, yeah, and I got to pick two. Uh huh. I picked uh a grilled chicken salad and a soup. Bro, ten dollars. Ten dollars and with a drink.$10 and 83 cents. I'm like less than 11. You bought that here, 16, 18 bucks. Yeah. Now that that pisses me off. Because it's like, and then even the McDonald's, bro, it's like I'm paying$13 in Colorado, I'm paying$18 here.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like they squeeze us so much because of this. Because of Millen. Millen's the oil town, they know we're gonna pay it. And and honestly, it's just uh like I look at these little towns I drive through, and especially Oklahoma, because Oklahoma's got some nice areas, and I'm like, man, I could buy a house here. Like I paid two something, I got all this land. 100% nice house, and I'm like, and I might even have a damn little lake in that land. Yeah, and I'm like, that's crazy. Like, you know, it's uh I mean we paid to live here because we're from here, but yeah, I feel like we should get like a little tax, you know, because we're from here, bro.

SPEAKER_00

We didn't come here too. I'm gonna talk to my boy Nino, you know what I'm saying? We need that motherfucking tax break.

SPEAKER_01

Man, and you know what? Like, I gotta give it to like him and all those other guys that that stay with us.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, they're they're sticking with it, man.

SPEAKER_01

Like they don't give them, they don't give those people uh a breath at all because and I I mean honestly, like for me, it's like man, I know I know they're doing some shady stuff, but do I pay attention as much as I should know?

City Manager Salary And Accountability

SPEAKER_00

We don't, none of us do, right? You know and they probably gonzalez bullshit. They just put that that shit was crazy. They put it on Newswest 9. Yeah, which was wild. News West 9 never goes against the grain. That's what I'm saying. So I'm like, what did they what did that motherfucker say about Newswest Nine or who did he fuck at News West 9?

unknown

Exactly.

SPEAKER_00

It was about uh what some comments that were made about him in another county that he works for in El Paso, I I believe. And uh that, you know, after paying so much money, they're still looking to see they're still they're still waiting to see, you know, results.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, okay. I know what you're talking about. It was like it was about money missing or mismanaged money. Yeah, mismanagement, really. I got you.

SPEAKER_00

And uh Nino put it on and I check it out. So, you know, anybody can say whatever they want about Nino. Again, Nino is a friend of the podcast, and uh, you know, he's he's always been very cool and respectful to us. So shout out to Nino. Um, he's doing his thing and he's keeping people as informed as possible.

SPEAKER_01

And also, it's another article, too. It's about the Pecos City Councilman. Yeah, Pecos. And he got paid$200,000 for consulting. Yeah. Man, bro, that's crazy.

SPEAKER_00

Like this guy, I I was thinking about our yearly salaries and shit, and yeah, this guy's fucking just, you know.

SPEAKER_01

It's crazy. And he's and you got AI, I'm gonna be honest with you too. Like, the dude know how to play the game. He's like double, triple divin, bro. Everywhere.

SPEAKER_00

It that's what's crazy about it, because you would think, like, I mean, we talk about greed, man, and it's it's it's it's of the devil, brother. Yeah, greed is uh is a terrible thing, and like do you really need that much money? Yeah like do you you don't really need it. It's no doubt it's nice to have nice things, but you're getting paid. Don't you need don't you want to have a sense a sense of uh honor that you did something for the money that someone's paying for your services? You know what I mean? Like that you actually did something for them. You didn't just talk a bunch of bullshit.

SPEAKER_01

And and honestly, what does a c I mean I don't really know because I don't I don't look it up, but what does a city manager really do in a way? And it's like and then it's like okay, he got he gotta consult if you're gonna be able to do it. He gotta consult it for you out of whatever the hell out of Pagus, right? Or whatever. And I'm like, I've been to Pegasus, bro, ain't nothing changed there but the damn nothing, that damn train collide. You know what I'm saying? Like that's the only thing that happened, really. Like, I'm like wondering, like, what exactly are you getting like that's what drive like I'm like wondering, like, you know, like and then it's like okay, the guy's from a paso. First of all, El Paso is cool, but I don't like O Paso that much.

SPEAKER_00

It's poorly run. Let's be honest, bro. And I'm saying it's poorly run.

SPEAKER_01

Bro, like I I just want somebody from here, you know what I'm saying? Like who likes this, who's from why why we got a guy from out of I don't know, like for me, it's weird. Like, I but I I what can I say? Like maybe they got mood over here, I don't know. But it's like it's uh to be honest, I go I've been to Paso just recently. Now look, it's got some nice parts, but a lot of it is kind of rough.

SPEAKER_00

It does have some nice parts, but that the thing about it is that that doesn't go into who's managing the city. Like it's it's it mismanagement can be a whole lot of different things from construction in the city, right? Yeah, to how you're allocating pay to who you're hiring, shit like that. And we've always heard bad things, I've always heard bad things from El Paso about mismanagement when it comes to construction and payments and all that bullshit. And like I don't we don't know what a city manager does.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, guys, check out Underdog Wildline Services, man. It's a permeant company, it's a local company. Man, I've worked to these guys personally, really good. They know how to get it done, man. So if you need any type of wireline work that comes down to completion, production, pipe recovery, they do horizontal, vertical perforating, they do uh free points, chemical cuts, um they even do uh temperature logs, man. So give these guys a call at 432-301-4976.

SPEAKER_00

Sales and Services uh is one of our new sponsors, and we wanted to shout them out. Um they're working out of Crane, Texas. If you want to get in touch with them, it's gonna be 432-307-1960. Uh some of the stuff that they offer is uh uh rust about maintenance and construction crews, uh uh trash trailers, porter potties, combo trailers, uh forklifts, and they're adding more rentals as they speak. So as I speak, so any anything that you want and need, I give them a call, you never know, they probably have it, and I know they have competitive pricing, appreciate it.

SPEAKER_01

Right now, what it says on Chat GPT say daily operations oversee all city departments like police, fire, utilities, roads publicly works. They make sure everything runs smoothly. Uh-huh. Well I thought that's you know, okay, but I thought that was a mayor's job too. Yeah, I thought the mayor was really prepare and manage the city's budget, deciding how money is spent, things on infrastructure, salaries, and services, managing they hire supervised sometimes departments, heads, and city employees. I mean, it's uh it's a lot of honesty looks like uh the mayor's uh kind of like assistant. Yeah. I mean, I I always thought a mayor did that. Yeah. Mayor slash city council equals makes the rules. City manager runs the city based on those rules.

SPEAKER_00

Ah, okay. So yeah, he's an assistant. He's assisting or fuck, maybe pretty much he's a pretty much liaison to the pretty much he's like a shop foreman. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And the the the regional manager is the manager. Yeah, yeah. Like that's how I look at it. You know what I'm saying? Like, and uh, if he's not running the the place right, then I would think the mayor has a right to let him.

SPEAKER_00

To step in.

SPEAKER_01

Now, look, I I don't know much about the guy. I'm not trying to say the guy's got a good one.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, we're we're not we're not defaming the guy.

SPEAKER_01

We're just saying it is it is questionable, it is a little fishy, and uh I just kind of like am curious about it too myself.

SPEAKER_00

I mean I got really curious when News West 9 like actually put something out. Yeah, like News West 9 either, bro.

SPEAKER_01

That's crazy. Me neither.

SPEAKER_00

Me neither. I can't stand it. I don't watch it, I don't I don't even nothing, but the fact that Nino was like he was surprised. Yeah, and I was like, man, that kind of raises the eyebrows because yeah, we know what type what kind of news, you know, News West 9 puts out, right? And the fact that they put it out means there's something there, right? I mean, that's the way that I take it, uh, because they are usually just you know the positives, the positives to their team.

SPEAKER_01

And I was wondering too, when I saw that thing about Pecus, I was thinking, I wonder what this guy drove over there, Pecos. You know what I'm saying? Like I'm curious, you know what I mean? Like, I wonder what he did. I mean, to make that money here is pretty wild to me.

SPEAKER_00

It's multiple counties, too. It's not just I know in O I know he was involved in Odessa, they had their little issues there, but at Pecus, El Paso, Odessa, Midland, like he's dipped his fingers in some bowls.

SPEAKER_01

And the salary is pretty high. Like, well, you I mean, look, I'm I'm not very uh informed on a lot of this stuff, but from what I remember, the mayor said that she doesn't get paid much.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Right? Like, that's what she told us. Right.

SPEAKER_00

So we're paying homeboy salary technically.

SPEAKER_01

Over like, I don't even know, it's like freaking 200. I don't even know, bro. Let's find out right now. So I don't I want to get this right, but it's like I I I just think that's crazy, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Like I'm I'm kind of curious about so man, sometimes I know some people out there got their problems with Nino, but y'all gotta set that aside. And it's it's this is actual news for the city, and you know,$350,000, bro.$350,000 a year.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, Tony, uh City Manager Mill, Texas, hired in July 2023 for your contract, based on your salaries$350,000 along with benefits, including$9,000 annual car allowance, really relocation reimbursement, up to$1,500 per month for temporary housing. Now, I don't know if homeboy's still in temporary housing, but damn.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, if he's in temporary housing, he's in pretty nice temporary housing.

SPEAKER_01

Bro, that's that's crazy, bro. Like, I I don't know about you, but and then I'm looking at another uh this part, this I don't know, I can't say this because this is just some Facebook post, but yeah, bro, that's crazy to me.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, man, and and we're fronting the bill. That's the truth about it. We're fronting the bill, the taxpayers here. Um, so yeah, man, I just just pay a little attention. Like, I know people have whatever misgivings with Nino, but pay attention, you know. Um he's at least out there, um, you know, being a voice for the whole city. So even if you don't like him, he's at least keep keeping these guys on a hot seat, and they need that. They need that. Even when we were talking about how, you know, we're okay with uh what Laurie Blonde is doing, um, we don't want free reign on a lot of this stuff. We don't agree with everything that happens uh through Lori, you know, through Lori Blonde or anything just because it's her or anything like that. But um no matter who it is, we can agree a hundred percent on the candidate and like man, they're the they're the best ones for the job and this and the other, but it doesn't mean they do everything right. Trump does not do everything right. He doesn't.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But but you have to take the good with the bad and figure out what what works best, right? But it doesn't mean like let up. It's fine that people are criticizing. You should you should criticize, criticize, and ask. We're the ones paying all fronting all these bills, brother. We are the taxpayer is for sure.

SPEAKER_01

And I I mean I and Lori Bond gave it to me like, man, she came here and she thought we were gonna come after her really hard, you know, and uh she was really nice. She she came and she you know, and I I appreciate that. You know, like it takes a lot to do that, so yeah, and uh, I got uh, you know, that I mean that's really it, you know. I mean, I have no really no issue, but it's just uh there's some questions for sure, and I think yeah, a lot of people are wondering about it. Like uh you brought that up today, and uh honestly I did remember seeing it and I kind of forgot, but it is wild, man, to see stuff like that. And you're like, man, I could I could grab somebody right now there for 150, they'll do it. Yeah, 120, bro. You know what I mean? Like, yeah, I might even do it for 120, but it's like for 400 grand or 300. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know what the credentials or credentials are. You know, maybe homeboy is extremely smart or he got has a really nice degree or something of that nature. Um, so I don't know. I don't know what what the credentials were to hire him, what previously he did, or maybe he has a really good resume. We don't know that, right? We just know that there are some misgivings, not just in Midland, about how the city management is going, right? For the price that we're paying. So yeah, it's wow, man.

SPEAKER_01

You think about all these towns like that, like you know, Andrew's uh like it's just you know, he just man, these guys get in, and you know, I get it. Money's loose, baby.

SPEAKER_00

Money's great, man, but also money's the root of all evil, brother. It really is, bro.

SPEAKER_01

Because it gets it comes down to everything, like yeah, it'll change a person, it'll absolutely know. And uh that's and you know, people kind of wash over that. You know, I saw a wild thing the other day, like kind of really got to me, but it was like um um just to get a bit of it, because we're talking about you know money and that comes from the city. Yeah, of course, of course. But there's a part this guy said um uh you know, he asked this dude, he said, Who created marriage? And this, you know, the guy didn't really know, but he's like, God. So yeah, he's like, so why don't we go to God when we have marriage problems? He's like, so why don't we go to the source, bro? He said, He created it, it's all in that book. Why don't we why don't we go to the source and look for it? And I was like, dang, bro, it's it made so much sense. He's like, all these people are trying to find all these other things, all these other out uh, you know, all these outlets to help him out, but it's like, man, you're going to the wrong source, bro. Like, you're going to the marriage was created by God, period. You know what I'm saying? So it's like, wow, and I never even thought of that. I was like, dang, I never thought. I mean, I knew he created it and he said it, and then even Jesus confirmed it in the New Testament. But it's like, wow, you because you're like, dang, that's that's deep, bro. You know what I mean? Like, it's wild to think that, bro.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, it's true, man. Yeah, it's true. Uh a lot of the times, you know, the the solution is in front of your face, and it's sometimes just hard to see it yourself, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So no, for sure.

SPEAKER_01

And you know, um I just wanted to also bring this up just before just in case I forget.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's his that's that's what he that's what he does.

SPEAKER_01

He's either grappling or he's freaking cleaning a pool out, bro.

SPEAKER_00

Like that's just how he is. That's that's what he does.

SPEAKER_01

Um, you know, guys, uh man, he's uh he's a local guy, he's been here his whole life. Uh great guy. Uh me and uh His House know him, he's been on the podcast. If y'all want to hear him, uh you know, he's a great guy. But man, check him out. He's a clarity pool company. Um, man, uh reach out. I'm gonna put all the info down too. But I just wanted to help out a local guy, man, just starting up. Uh, you know, we all know what it's like in a way, starting a business can be stressful and it can be uh come be very exciting, you know what I'm saying? So uh check out Alan, bro. Again, the four numbers 432-323-9233. Check him out, man.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, give him a shout, man. You know, he's he's he's a good dude, and you know, I'm sure it's uh as exciting as it is, it can also be like you know, worrisome branching out and starting a business. And yeah, we don't have a pool, so we hadn't cleaned our pool, but we know the guy and we vouch for the guy. So if I had a pool, I'd call him.

SPEAKER_01

Hit him up, yeah. And you know what's crazy? Uh I'll have to show Alan this. I haven't told him yet. But my mom, she downloaded a lot of uh old videos of VHS and she put them to USB. Literally watched a mat match, my first uh tournament match in uh Amarillo, Texas, against a lady. I didn't know my mom record all of it. I beat her, but I was like, and then me and Alan went. And I and we're like 18, bro, 17. I was like, geez, man. So I'm gonna I plan on getting it and putting it on my computer and then kind of getting it out like that. But that's bro, it was wild, bro. I was watching videos of me when I was a kid. I'm talking 13, playing basketball with my brother and my cousins. And it blew me away, bro. I was like, what the heck? Like, and my mom's got man, there's so many videos, bro.

SPEAKER_00

And those are the best, bro. Shout out to your mom for doing that, for taking video. Like, I wish we had video recordings, bro. Like, and everybody's like, that's so such a cliche when you're young, like, oh man, her parents are always recording everything, and like, but now you know, you grow to appreciate those things. Yeah, yeah. Oh man, it's dope, it got me riled up.

SPEAKER_01

I was watching those old matches, and I was just sitting there, like, my kids are like, they'll watch a little, but then they're on their phone and McCourney's watching, and I'm and I'm just like sweating, bro. Like, you know what I mean? I see Alan, I see Alan rolling on top of me, and then and I'm like, damn, that was a long, and then I'm like, man, I was pretty damn fit, bro. Like, you know, it was just like, and it's crazy because I remember me back then, I remember looking at myself and I was like, man, you fat, you know, you look like shit. You know what I mean? And then I and uh you like crap or whatever, and I was just like, dang, bro, I can't believe I used, you know, but it's wild. I I used to tell Aiden or anybody, I'm like, bro, I used to suffer badly with that body dysmorphia my whole life. Yeah, even when I was at my best prime, I thought I looked like crap. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you would always fucking, you were always on that shit. And me, I'm like fucking 300 pounds, like, damn, I'm fucking sexy. Yeah, it's I was opposite, man, I look fucking good, bro. But you know what, you know what's funny is that that it's like a family trait, bro. Yeah, it really is. Like my family on the Franco side of the family, we always think we're like number one fuckable person. Like, period. Like, it's fucking funny, man. But we're always like, man, I'm fucking, I'm sexy, bro. Like, there's nothing, there's nothing to do, and my confidence has always been sky high. Like, I don't I I never tripped about being big or being fat or anything like that. And it's it's like a family trait, and it's funny, like watching you like back in the day and fucking Rick was fall fucking ripped and shit.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, dude.

SPEAKER_00

And uh I you know I'm a little fat motherfucker rolling around with everybody, but I always I always thought I was a flies, nigga. I don't give a fuck.

SPEAKER_01

Look at look at this, man. I got I got a little video right here, and I'll put it right here actually, so maybe people can see it. But this is uh Andy, and uh Andy's my cousin, bro. And he look at this guy. This guy's got confidence, bro. I never had that. Yeah, look, he knew he was hot, he knew he was hot, bro. Suave. But and there's these ones, but it's like it's crazy because I'm like, I watched this video and I'm like, man, I can't believe like I never I never really felt like that. But these guys they knew it, bro. I mean, I'm telling you, these both brothers were like killing it. And this is Andy's like prom or something, but yeah, yeah. It's wild to see that. I was I recorded a sentence to Andy, and he's like, damn, I'm young, and Andy still looks like this kind of just has a little gray. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

He's a little grayed out now.

SPEAKER_01

But it's crazy, bro. I was like, it's it's wild to see videos like that. And that's someone's gonna watch it.

SPEAKER_00

That's badass, though, you know what I mean. The fact that y'all have videos for all that is sick, bro. Home movies are sick, bro. I wish we had them.

SPEAKER_01

And and and it's that's Isaac. Look at Isaac, it's crazy, bro. Cause you bear. But it's like wild to see that got my grandma, she's like younger, and it's like, and it just and I told my mom, it's nostalgia. But people, yeah, exactly. But it's like we have our phones now and we use our phones for everything, but it's like, man, I feel like sooner or later we erase stuff for memory, and then it's like then I have nothing. And I'm like, you know, I I think I'm gonna buy a camera and I'm really gonna start doing this because just something about that makes it different for me. Like, it's it's wonderful, bro.

SPEAKER_00

Bro, yeah, like yeah, we have our phones and we're recording, but I mean, let's be honest, like so much stuff saved, but you're right, like we need to get in our phones, save them on our computers, so we have all those videos for sure.

SPEAKER_01

I I got another external hard drive, so I'm gonna put a lot of stuff on there. Like, even like Sophie's video, I put all that on hard drives and I laugh. I'm like, I just don't want to lose it.

Track Meet Stories And Growing Up

SPEAKER_00

You can imagine them when they're grown and everything, and their kids maybe taking dance or whatever, and they can show them like it's dope, bro.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean, and I literally, my mom had a literally a video of me uh playing uh flag football in hops in Mexico, like in third grade.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, damn. I was wearing some baggy ass pants. Yeah, I remember you back then. That was your that was the heavyweight days.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, exactly. Yeah, yeah, everybody's laughing, like, damn, you and then she even had a video of me in uh seventh grade Alamo running track, and I was like, I don't even remember running track, and I was running long distance, and I was like, I think you only did it like one season or something of track.

SPEAKER_00

You know, they made us back then, yeah. They're like, you pick something, motherfucker, like fuck, man, because you had to stay fit for football. Just pick something.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, and you got me, they got me all there running the whole lap.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, those track let me tell y'all something for the people, you know, for the parents, you know what I'm saying? Those like San Angelo track meets and shit like that for a lot of the fucking uh kids doing track. Hey, be careful, man. Yeah, a lot of relationships go down at those places, you know what I'm saying? When I when we used to go to those fucking track meets, it was terrible back then too. Like, I'm sure they charter way better buses or something. We were going on a fucking school bus. Like, I I remember fucking eating a dry ass fucking plain burger. That's all I had eaten all day, too, because you get back on the bus and they're like, alright, here's fucking they're just throwing burgers like fucking frisbees at all the kids and shit, and they give you a cup like this big, like like a pill cup to of fucking water. I couldn't even eat my fucking burger because I had like I have to have something to drink when I eat. I can't just fucking swallow dry ass fucking beef. You know what I mean? Yeah, oh yeah. Anyway, like if you have your kids going to track and all that shit, Alamo and fucking freshmen and even high school or whatever, like be careful, bruh. Yeah, be careful with those meats. Go over there and make sure your kid is like doing their sports shit. Cause I'll go over there, I wasn't worried about track. We were playing football at the time, like I don't give a fuck about football. So I'm over there just fucking just going to oh, we're gonna go watch Home Girl run and fucking go over there and watch them run and then fucking spit. We spent like I think I think because I was only throwing shot put at the time. We spent like 90% of the time that was there just bullshitting around the girls.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and I also feel like a lot of the food they gave us was like food from there.

SPEAKER_00

Like I was pissed.

SPEAKER_01

And like now, it's like I drive walk by, I saw like a whole bunch of bags for like uh McAllister's deli and like Tennessee's daily.

SPEAKER_00

Bro, these kids are spoiled. Chick-fil-A.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and I'm like, Bro, if I'd have had Chick-fil-A back then, shit, I'd have been fucking ecstatic. It's crazy, bro. But I'm like, yeah, I'm the same way. Like, and it's kind of like that, but the difference too is that I I didn't even know like back then I didn't get to go home with my mom after. I had to stay there all day. Yeah, yeah. You let the kids go home with you like if you have a paper. And I'm like, bro, I had to stay here.

SPEAKER_00

You went on the bus, you came back on the bus. Oh boy, we get back fucking two o'clock in the morning. Yeah. My parents are picking me up. Like, why the fuck did I have to go through that? They got here like fucking an hour earlier than us.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, no, for sure, man. And it's like that still, like, you know, but it's crazy that you can like they do that now. It's it's a lot of wild stuff.

SPEAKER_00

It's crazy, man. Like, like how they how they they're treating the kids now. No, no, no, no hate, right? The kids, you know, it's that's this is the way that it should have been even back then, but maybe the money wasn't there. Maybe whatever.

SPEAKER_01

Who knows, man? You know what I mean? But you're probably right. The money, maybe. I mean, but hell, I don't know. It's always been an oil town. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? I mean, it wasn't the boom, but it was still oil here. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, that's true. That's true. I just maybe it just maybe it was just harder. Like, nobody gave a shit, bro. And I I'm okay with that too, because it's like, uh, I'm like, I'm cool with that. Like, I'm like, whatever.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we're forged in fire.

SPEAKER_01

You go, I'll drink it. I was drinking water out of the pipes from Alibou, bro.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I wouldn't dare do that shit to my kids now. I always tell like Camera, like, hey, do not drink that fucking water, even in the shower.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but they did you they gave you that water? You know what I mean? Like that would be like fighting, but in the back then it was like, oh, you got any more of a coach? You know what I mean? Like this stuff's good.

SPEAKER_00

The water fountain was a normality back then, bro. Yeah, like I gotta go get a drink. It was out of the fucking water fountain, fucking straight rusting steel, bro.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, them tent tents are probably uh getting paid now. People about our age now, like they're like, man, it was that water, bro.

SPEAKER_00

Thank the Lord, I'm still whole. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

I'm a good thing I didn't like water much back then. I drink a lot of cokes, baby. You know what I mean? So I was probably it's probably saved me in the long run.

Midland Water Problems And Closing Thanks

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we drink the shit out of that water out of those fountains, and that little irony taste was just fucking, you know, it's minerals, bro. I never had an iron deficiency not once in my life, motherfucker.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and you know that's wild because I don't remember people complaining that much about melon water back then. Like now it's a deal, like nobody But it is worse, bro. I think it is like a little thing, but nobody cared. Like

SPEAKER_00

Back then, like, yeah, we had now my parents have a water softener, but in my parents' home, we didn't have to change the fucking shower head every six months, bro. Now like that shit eats my fucking shit alive, bro. I had to change my cause like the water pressure starts to go down and it's because it's just getting the the calcium.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I didn't think about that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, bro, and like so I had to fucking change it, clean out the fucking pipe. Um now people are like doing like the vinegar where you put the the white vinegar in the bag and put it around the pipe so like it dissolves that shit. All kinds of shit, bro. And like even the little the nipples where the fucking water shoots out, like those start to get just filled with calcium. Damn, like it's it's fucking crazy, man.

SPEAKER_01

I did not know that. I mean, I never thought of that. I mean, it makes a lot of sense when you think about it.

SPEAKER_00

That's why water softeners are skyrocketing, man.

SPEAKER_01

And I actually haven't, I never use the damn thing. I need to I need to go look look into it right now.

SPEAKER_00

Get it get it fucking hooked up, baby. Get it rolling, baby.

SPEAKER_01

Sure, but but hell man, I think it's been a good episode.

SPEAKER_00

Good episode, man. A good time catching up. Um we got some we got some some people coming in soon. Uh hopefully we we stay a little bit steady here now that everything's kind of clearing up. Um we're working on the business here that we're we're getting back up and running, and hopefully eventually we could do a walkthrough, put it out on the Patch Boys uh podcast on all platforms, and uh, you know, show you guys what's going on in our lives a little bit.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think it'd be cool.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, man. I appreciate everybody listening, man. Appreciate all the sponsors, appreciate everybody sticking with us. Like, subscribe, put turn on notifications. Your boys will be letting you know when we're gonna do the next episode, man. Appreciate it.

SPEAKER_01

I've worked with them personally out there, believe me, and I tell you, they know how to get the job done. They offer uh different types of wireline services that come down to completion, production, uh pipe recovery. You need a free point, you need a temperature log, you need a vertical or horizontal well perforated. Uh, give these guys a call, man. They're at 432-301-4976.

Titan Sales and Services uh is one of our new sponsors. They're a relatively new company, so we want to back them up like they're backing us up. Uh they're running out of Crane, Texas, and some of the stuff that they have available is uh Rust About maintenance and construction crews, uh, trash trailers, porta potties, combo trailers, forklifts, and they're adding new services and rentals every day. Uh so give those guys a call at 432 307-1960. If you need anything, uh I know their pricing is gonna be competitive. Uh help them out. Thank you.
