Dr. Tamar:I have a question for you. Have you ever felt stuck, just plain stuck, unsure of what to do, your purpose, or even perhaps in a cycle of anxiety and depression unable to break free despite trying everything? You may have tried numerous treatments, from medications to therapy, and often the results are just temporary relief or come with side effects that make you wonder if it's worth it. So that's why we're exploring an intriguing and perhaps underrated approach today energy healing. So true story. A few years ago, I felt like I was stuck, just stuck. I didn't know what I was missing, I didn't know what I needed. So I came across a website that talked about a healing journey, I thought, hmm, that's it. I need healing emotional healing. An emotional healing journey involves moving from emotional distress to improved emotional well-being. I had unresolved issues from childhood and past relationships that impacted me in my adult life, so this healing journey seemed like what I needed, and it was. With a combo of meditation, tapping and sound therapy, I had an emotional transformation, one that gave me a sense of peace, resolution transformation, one that gave me a sense of peace, resolution and wholeness. I no longer felt stuck, but I had clarity. So when I came across our guest today, I had to invite her to share her expertise on energy healing as an option for any holistic health journey. Tanya Eckenberg is a dedicated professional whose experience with energy healing wasn't just about overcoming mental hurdles. It was about embracing a holistic approach that aligns perfectly with her pursuit of a personalized, effective wellness strategy.
Dr. Tamar:In this episode, we're going to unpack the essence of energy healing, illustrating its potential not as a mystical cure-all, but as a substantial complementary strategy that can integrate seamlessly with conventional treatments to support your overall well-being. Listen in, tia, it's amazing to have you here with us on Pivoting Pharmacy with Nutrigenomics. I am looking forward to our conversation and what you have to share with the audience today. Thank you for being here. Thank you for having me. I'm excited. You are welcome Now. Tanya, it's amazing to hear about your shift from the struggles that you had in your own personal life and to now helping others through energy healing. Could you take us back to what happened in your life Actually I want you to say it and how traditional methods just pretty much weren't cutting it for you, to now where you are, where energy healing was that turning point for you, her life up and down was on medication, got off medication, back on medication, off medication because I never learned to to manage my anxiety and depression.
Tenya:So I became a high functioning, anxious person with bouts of sadness because I had three kids to help take care of. I had a husband to take care of, eventually full time job, but by 2018, all of my kids had graduated high school. Our twins were graduating high school in 2018. My husband and oldest daughter were graduating college and we sold our home that we grew our kids up in, raised them in grew up is a word and bought our forever home off of the Chesapeake Bay. It was just a beautiful year. Lots of good things were happening.
Tenya:And 2019, things started to really slow down because I didn't have to run to school anymore, I didn't have to run the kids from one place to another and my job was going great. And so the anxiety and depression were starting to knock on my door again and they were like, hey, it's our turn now. Like you've been avoiding us for like 30 years, it's it's time that that you let us in and you have some conversations with us, basically. And I was like no, my social calendar is full. I'm not, I'm not going to deal with you yet and by the end of 2019, I was like I need help. I'm either going to run my vehicle into a telephone pole so that I can get some time off from everything and try to figure out what's going on. So you know, I thought a week was going to be enough, or I need to call a doctor, and so I waited a little bit longer and COVID hit and it was like okay now I have to do everything online, but I need to get some help.
Dr. Tamar:So I met with a doctor that I didn't know.
Tenya:And he asked me a couple of questions, one being have you ever thought of hurting yourself? And the answer was no, because I didn't trust him enough. Like when you have that feeling you really worry about what will happen if you tell somebody because, based off of what movies have shown us, what the media has shown us, that if we feel like we're going to harm ourselves, we're going to end up on the fifth floor in a padded room in a straitjacket, no one really says you might really get the help you need, you might get the compassion that you need. And so I started on a medication that I'd been on before 15 minute conversation and he was like I'll see you in six to eight weeks. And I found a talk therapist that her bio looked great, started working with her, and it took probably about three weeks, four weeks, before I felt comfortable enough to share some things with her. And by the six to eight week point when I went back to the other doctor, and by the six to eight week point when I went back to the other doctor and they were like well, maybe we need to up your medication, because while on the medication I wasn't feeling as anxious or as sad, I wasn't happy, I wasn't joyful, I wasn't having any feelings, I was just numb and I was like I'm not going to do this again, I'm not going to go on this medication roller coaster. And I had a deep fear of what medication would do to my body, to my organs, because my mom has her own mental illnesses that she struggles with. But the medications that she had been on for 40, 50 years have now given her hepatitis, autoimmune, and so she has this medically induced cirrhosis of the liver. And I was like I know there has to be a different way, there has to be a better way.
Tenya:So I went to Google and I typed in holistic emotional healing and the first thing that came up was the emotion code and I was like, ok, well, I am emotional, so maybe this will help. I looked further into it and I was like, OK, I don't know what muscle testing is and they want to get rid of the trapped emotions with a refrigerator magnet. Ok, I'll give it a try. What do I have to lose? So I kept doing my research.
Tenya:I signed up to do a couple sessions with a couple different practitioners, because sometimes you have to find the right practitioner or the right modality to work. But after each session I felt a little bit better, felt a little bit lighter, and I was like, hmm, maybe there is something to work. But after each session I felt a little bit better, felt a little bit lighter, and I was like, hmm, maybe there is something to this. But then I start to feel bad again. I was like, okay, maybe this isn't working. So I tried another session. I felt better and then I started feeling bad again, but I didn't feel as bad as I did the first time. So at this point I was like you know what? I think this is really going to work, but I want to learn how to do it myself. So I signed up for the certification after one of their webinars, because I was. If I want to help myself, I tend to want to learn what it is so that I can be all in like I can understand why it's working, or I can kind of understand why it's working, or I can kind of understand how it works.
Tenya:And within four months of starting my certification with the emotion code, I got my certification with the body code. And then I found another certification called easy entity release, which was another mind-blowing factor in my healing because I believe in ghosts, I believed in spirits, but I didn't believe that they could really harm us, not understanding that the way they can harm us is so minimal but impactful. And within four months I was about 80% healed from this energy healing that I knew nothing about, I'd never experienced before and I was. I was so astonished because I was laughing again, I was smiling, I was having fun and there was still something missing. I wasn't a hundred percent.
Tenya:So I had joined a coaching program and they were like you need to meditate for 10 minutes twice a day, you need to journal, you need to do all this other self-care.
Tenya:And I was like, oh, I can't afford self-care, I can't afford to get a massage every week. I can't afford to get my nails done all the time, like I don't want to dye my hair. And then I realized that, while that is, it feels good to get those things done, that's not self-care, that is fun care. And the self-care was sitting in silence for five or 10 minutes a day, just sitting and contemplating the thoughts coming in and out of my head and not judging them, journaling and which journaling I had a really hard time with in the beginning because my mom had invaded my privacy by reading a letter I was sending to my sister when I was like 13 years old, and from that point on I wouldn't write any of my feelings down. I stopped sending notes to friends in class because I was so afraid that whatever I wrote down would be read by someone. I didn't want to read it, and so I didn't journal for a long time. So it took me some time to be comfortable with journaling.
Dr. Tamar:Yeah, I can, really I can relate to that as well.
Tenya:Similar experiences yeah, what energy healing did? Was it opened up that space for me to be able to focus on the self-care because I had tried meditation before, I had tried to set boundaries before, I had, you know, had tried to, you know, put myself first, but something always pulled me in a different direction. But clearing out the the negative energy that I was holding on to and some of it wasn't even mine, it was inherited from my parents or brought over from a past life, or I absorbed it by watching certain things on tv, you know, it's just it comes from everywhere along those lines, tina.
Dr. Tamar:when it comes to energy healing, many people might see that as it's mystical or it's elusive practice, and perhaps you're about to go into that. What's what's the real deal with energy healing? What do people often get wrong about?
Tenya:it. They often get wrong, that it is a placebo, that it's something that because you believe it's real, it'll work, something that because you believe it's real, it'll work. But my husband is very analytical and very logical in his thinking and I can clear a headache for him while he's at work, an hour and a half away from me over text, and with a half an hour his headache is gone without having to take Tylenol or Advil. My son had strep throat the other day, even went to the doctor and was tested and it came back positive. Next day he had no white spots on his throat, no swelling, no redness is virtually gone. And my kids don't really. I mean they're like, hey, mom, after three weeks of being sick, hey, can you work on this? You know they're not big believers in it, which is fine, you don't have to believe in it, but it works, because everything is energy. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not there.
Dr. Tamar:So exactly how does that work? How do you go about doing energy healing?
Tenya:Luckily I only work virtually, so over zoom, over phone, over email, it all works. I just get in tune with the client's energy. I don't connect directly with my client anymore because I don't want to bring back what they have and I don't want them to take on what I have. So there's no direct connection, it's just a a sense. And then I use muscle testing, which is kinesiology. A lot of chiropractors use muscle testing to test their clients for specific supplements that their body wants, and so I do the same thing and I ask my clients higher selves what is it that is causing this issue? And I use different charts and a couple different apps to get my answers. It's not 100%, but neither is going to the cardiologist. Nothing is 100%, but I know it works because for years I've been 100%. I say I'm I'm clean of chronic anxiety and depression because it's never come back.
Dr. Tamar:Amazing. That's great and it's a huge relief, I'm sure, to not have to feel that way every single day, like you did before, and suppress it, knowing you're suppressing it and not being able to talk to others about it, but now you're not dealing with it anymore. Now, tanya, with your unique approach, how do you balance or blend energy healing with more conventional medical treatments, especially when it comes to mental health, because I'm sure you have clients who are coming to you on medications for certain conditions. How do you balance that?
Tenya:So, because I'm not a therapist or a psychologist if they're on medication, I tell them they need to keep seeing their doctor, they need to keep talking to their doctor, and I tell them that they need to find out what the side effects are if they need to reduce their medication or come off of it.
Tenya:I don't know what the symptoms are, so that's not my scope of practice, but I do tell them that you know, the goal is to eventually have you come off the medication altogether, because we need to be empowered to understand that we can heal ourselves, that we can live, live lives by thriving in them and not just surviving with our symptoms.
Tenya:And so I've had several clients that have come back and said I've been off my medication since, you know, halfway through our program, and they the fact that they feel so empowered to say you know what, I don't need this anymore, but I do need to go walking three days a week or I do need to have my meditation time. And they feel empowered enough to get themselves up and out of bed a half hour to an hour before the kids get up so that they can get their time in. What the energy healing does is it? It frees up that space to install better beliefs, install positive action, so that you have those tools for the rest of your life and once that energy is cleared, it never comes back. But if you don't learn to process your emotions, if you don't learn to set boundaries, which is also self-care, then there's a good chance that you're going to rebuild what you've been letting go of right.
Dr. Tamar:Those are great points. You have to one, and the fact that, with energy healing, using those tools, learning them, they have a sustainable way of healing, of keeping off what their issues were, what they were dealing with for so long. And that's what we want, right. We want to find sustainable ways where we can maintain our health, our mental health, our physical health, so that is indeed, it's a great tool for people to use. Now, how do you measure the progress of the clients that you see? How do you know that you know something as deep as personal healing? How do you measure the progress of that?
Tenya:My hope is always that my clients are being completely honest with me, because I tell them from the beginning look, I love what I do, but if you're not willing to put in the work and you're not willing to be 100% honest with how you're feeling, willing to put in the work and you're not willing to be 100% honest with how you're feeling, then this probably is not going to work for you. And I'm completely blunt and honest with that, because it is not easy work to change your lifestyle. Anybody who has been on a weight loss journey understands that changing your eating habits is not easy, Right Adding in self-care when you've been programmed to put everybody else first. It takes time to change that and it takes time to get your support to understand that you have to put yourself first for a little while so that you can be there for them when they need you.
Dr. Tamar:Yeah, it takes that, that dedication, but also it was something that I listened to you. Yeah, it takes that dedication, but also it was something that I'm listening to you. You mentioned you talk about the power of intent, right. So intentionality, of course, is something that's going to play a role in the actions that we have to take, or when people are ready to start healing. They have to be intentional and that's the steps that they have to take. Yeah, you have to have deliberate and about what they the steps that they have to take.
Tenya:Yeah, you have to have deliberate daily self-care, and I say deliberate because we we all brush our teeth every day. That's a deliberate action that we do every day because we were programmed and told that you have to brush your teeth every day so that you have a healthy smile, but nobody tells you. You have to allow yourself to feel anger, because what does anger look like? To most people? It looks ugly, it looks loud, and anger doesn't have to be ugly and it doesn't have to be loud, but you do have to let yourself feel it and you have to let yourself feel sad. But you also have to let yourself feel sad. But you also have to let yourself feel happy and feel joy, which a lot of people have a hard time doing. When they are happy, when people feel happiness and they're afraid to feel happiness, it's because they're afraid of whatever they're happy about is going to be stripped from them, and so they choose not to feel happy or excited because they're afraid that they'll jinx it.
Dr. Tamar:Right.
Tenya:They're going to lose it, but you're not going to lose it. Yeah, even if that joy is there for 30 seconds. You were meant to feel that joy for 30 seconds. Don't worry about what's going to happen in a minute.
Dr. Tamar:We don't worry about feeling sad or mad because it's going to go away. So why not? Why not welcome joy yeah?
Tenya:So when you feel your emotions, when you allow yourself to really feel them, they only last a minute, I think. I think I've had one emotion last like 10 minutes and that's the longest that any of my emotions, when I have allowed myself to feel them, have actually lasted. When I suppress them, when I push them away, and they kept coming back, going, knocking on that door, going oh hey, we're back, are you ready to feel us? Yet then they would last longer. Yeah, they never really go away.
Dr. Tamar:They don't unless you feel them. Great points now, tina. I have one last question for you, for someone who's listening right now and curious about energy healing or upgrading their self-care routine. Where should they start? Do you have any tips or resources for them to check out?
Tenya:well, you can always, always come and ask me design your existencecom couple. Books that I found absolutely amazing in my healing journey. The first one was the emotion code and the second one is the four agreements. Those two books really set the path for for my healing journey and I would start there. But also just just Google, do your research and find out what self-care techniques or tips that are going to help you. But ultimately you're worth spending your time on. So do it. Just make the time, make it a priority.
Dr. Tamar:I love that. Yeah, make the time a priority, make yourself a priority. I love that. Yeah, make the time a priority, make yourself a priority. And an interesting point you brought out is self-care. That's for you, because it's not going to be the same for everybody no, it's not.
Tenya:Not everybody is going to find benefits in meditation. Sitting in silence, they may not find that benefit, but walking meditation they might, right, or yoga they might, you know, find what works for you, because we're all worth it yes, we are indeed.
Dr. Tamar:You are worth it. Well, tina, thank you for joining us today on pivoting pharmacy with nutrigenomics and opening up the world of energy healing and self-care to us.
